Glycerol-3-phosphatase (GPP, EC 3.1.3.21) catalyzes the removal of a phosphate group from glycerol-3-phosphate to form glycerol, representing the final enzymatic step in glycerol synthesis. The activity of this enzyme directly determines the level of glycerol production. This kit uses glycerol-3-phosphate as a substrate and employs an ammonium molybdate chromogenic agent to measure the amount of phosphate ions released by the enzyme per unit time, thereby determining the activity of glycerol-3-phosphatase.
