Isocitrate is an isomer of citrate. Although present in small quantities, it is widely found in the biological world. It is particularly abundant in the leaves of succulent plants such as those from the genus Bryophyllum, or in species like Rubus, and it is also a component of the tricarboxylic acid cycle. This kit provides a specific enzymatic method for detecting isocitrate content. It utilizes isocitrate dehydrogenase to catalyze the conversion of isocitrate and NADP⁺ into α-ketoglutarate, carbon dioxide, and NADPH. By measuring the increase in absorbance of NADPH at 340 nm, the isocitrate content in the sample can be calculated.
