Observation of mitosis in plant cells
Observation of mitosis in plant cells
Mitosis, also known as indirect division, was first discovered in animals by W. Fleming (1882) and in plants by E. Strasburger (1880). Characterized by the presence of spindle chromosomes and the equal distribution of daughter chromosomes to daughter cells, this type of division is commonly seen in higher plants and animals (animals and higher plants). It is the process by which eukaryotic cells divide to produce somatic cells.
