Heterogeneous chitosan@nickel (II)-catalyzed tandem radical cyclization of N-arylacrylamides: A general method for constructing fluorinated 3,3-disubstituted oxindoles using perfluoroalkyl iodides

The first example of heterogeneous chitosan supported nickel (II) catalyzed tandem radical cyclization of N -arylacrylamides with perfluoroalkyl iodides is described. This approach provides a simple and efficient way to construct a variety of perfluoroalkylated oxindoles in good to excellent yields, with the advantages of readily available starting materials and easily recoverable heterogeneous catalyst. In addition, the highly active chitosan@nickel (II) catalyst was still active after being recycled six times.
