摘要
The construction of organic-inorganic hybrid materials has shown great potential for the development of multifunctional superior polymer-based composites. The inadequate thermodynamic property and mechanical strength of polyacrylate (PA) restrict its further application. To address this issue, the seed polymer emulsion was prepared by emulsion polymerization of 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate (MPS)-modified silica (SiO 2 ) with acrylic monomer, serving as a stabilizer for Pickering emulsion. The reactive C C bond (unsaturated double bond from MPS) introduction induced the copolymerization between MPS-modified silica and polymer monomers, enhancing the interaction between silica and polymer matrix. Subsequently, the core/shell-PA/modified SiO 2 (CS-PA/modified SiO 2 ) emulsion was prepared by Pickering emulsion polymerization. This gradient-layered structure reduces internal friction and enhances the relative flow between latex particles, resulting in the uniform particle size distribution (202 nm) and a narrow polydispersity of 0.025. The results of storage, centrifugation and calcium ion stability tests demonstrated the exceptional stability of CS-PA/modified SiO 2 latex particles. The hydrophobic surface of hybrid latex films could be obtained from the CS-PA/modified SiO 2 emulsion. The tensile strength and elongation at break of the films were determined as 6.25 MPa and 573.54 %, respectively. Additionally, the heat resistance index (HRI) of the film exceeded 165 ℃, signifying exceptional thermal stability. This work provides a convenient strategy for design and fabrication of hybrid latex films with excellent performances for packaging or conservation of cultural heritage.
