摘要
The rising demand for natural skincare solutions has spurred significant interest in plant-based bioactive compounds. In this study, an optimized ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) process, guided by response surface methodology (RSM), was employed to efficiently isolate bioactive constituents from Sappanwood. The extracts exhibited exceptional antioxidant capacity and strong antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli . Leveraging these properties, a gel-based facial mask was formulated using 0.1 % citric acid and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose as the base matrix. This formulation not only retained the extract's antioxidant and antimicrobial efficacy but also exhibited excellent biocompatibility. Rheological analysis revealed the gel mask's pseudoplastic behavior, ensuring optimal spreadability and enhanced skin adherence. Notably, the pH-responsive characteristics of Sappanwood Extract imparted the gel mask with potential real-time skin monitoring capabilities. These findings highlight the dual functionality of Sappanwood Extract as both a skincare-active ingredient and a diagnostic tool, positioning them as a promising candidate for innovative, multifunctional cosmetic formulations. This study advances the development of natural, high-performance cosmetics with integrated diagnostic potential, aligning with the growing demand for smart, plant-based skincare solutions.
