摘要
The shelf-life of fruits and vegetables is significantly affected by atmospheric conditions and the microbial contaminations. The use of porous materials for packaging can help regulate the internal atmosphere within packaging. In this study, a chitosan-based film with enhanced gas permeability and antimicrobial properties was developed through the incorporation of polyethyleneimine (PEI)-modified mesoporous silica SBA-15. The mesoporous structure of SBA-15 enhances gas exchange, leading to superior permeability for oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor compared to neat chitosan films. Additionally, the addition of polyethyleneimine (PEI) endows the composite film with remarkable antimicrobial efficacy, effectively inhibiting the growth of Escherichia coli , Staphylococcus aureus and Botrytis cinerea . The composite film also exhibited good transparency, UV-blocking capabilities, and mechanical strength. Preservation tests conducted on mangoes indicated that composite film was capable of regulating the internal atmosphere and delaying the deterioration of the fruit. Furthermore, the films exhibited excellent biodegradability and biocompatibility. Therefore, this composite film with enhanced gas transmission rate and antimicrobial properties presents considerable potential for the preservation of fresh produce.
