摘要
The development of next-generation desiccant materials is essential for achieving energy-efficient atmospheric water harvesting and air dehumidification under hot and humid conditions. Conventional desiccants such as silica gel and zeolites are limited by high regeneration temperatures, low water uptake, or poor hydrothermal stability, while salt-based sorbents suffer from deliquescence and leakage. To address these challenges, this study presents a LiCl@TpPa-1 covalent organic framework (COF) composite that integrates the structural robustness of TpPa-1 with the hygroscopic functionality of lithium chloride. Structural and thermodynamic analyses confirmed that LiCl incorporation enhances water affinity without compromising crystallinity or stability, enabling low-temperature regeneration below 70 °C. The composite was successfully coated onto aluminum heat exchanger fins using an optimized polymeric binder, yielding a uniform, durable sorption layer. System-level testing demonstrated a more than threefold improvement in moisture removal and a 2.5-fold increase in thermal coefficient of performance (COP) compared to silica gel under tropical conditions. This study goes beyond material-level characterization by bridging the gap between laboratory synthesis and practical application. The composite was successfully coated onto aluminum heat exchanger fins using an optimized polymeric binder, forming a uniform and durable sorption layer. System-level testing under realistic operating conditions demonstrated more than a threefold enhancement in moisture removal and a 2.5-fold increase in the thermal COP compared to silica gel under tropical climates. The material also exhibited excellent cyclic stability with negligible capacity loss after repeated dehumidification–regeneration cycles. These results highlight LiCl@TpPa-1 as a promising desiccant for sustainable, low-grade heat-driven dehumidification and water-harvesting technologies.
