摘要
We report here the mutual control of magnetism and ferroelectricity in Cr-doped Y-type hexaferrite Ba 0.5 Sr 1.5 Zn 2 Fe 12 O 22 single crystal (Ba 0.5 Sr 1.5 Zn 2 Fe 12-x Cr x O 22 , x = 0.2). The direct magnetoelectric effect persists up to 70 K, with a maximal magnetoelectric susceptibility of ∼2950 ps/m at 10 K, which is nine times larger than that of the Cr-doped polycrystal (∼315 ps/m, 10 K). Notably, magnetic-field-driven polarization reversal is observed at low temperatures, accompanied by a non-zero remanent polarization at zero field. Furthermore, the magnetization can be linearly modulated by an external electric field under an applied bias magnetic field. The largest relative change in magnetization occurs at a bias field of 0.01 T. As the magnetic field increases, the relative change in magnetization gradually decreases. Even when the bias magnetic field reaches 0.06 T, the external electric field can still modulate the magnetization, demonstrating its potential for magnetoelectric applications in complex magnetic environments. These findings reveal that Cr-doped Y-type hexaferrites are promising candidates for bidirectional magnetoelectric coupling, offering pathways for advanced multiferroic memory and sensing technologies.
