CsCdGa3O6: A I-II-III-O (I = alkali metal, II = divalent metal, III = Al, Ga, In) type oxide featuring [Ga4O14]16− helical belts linked [Ga6O6]6+ and [Ga8O8]8+ cages

Inorganic gallates are attractive owing to their abundant structures and wide applications for nonlinear optics, magnetism , molecular sieve and catalysis. Herein, a new cesium cadmium gallate, CsCdGa 3 O 6 , has been synthesized by a solid-state reaction, which is the first I-II-III-O (I ​= ​alkali metals, II ​= ​divalent metals, III = Al, Ga, In) type oxide. It crystallizes in the centrosymmetric space group P 2 1 / c , and the three-dimensional Ga–O polyanionic framework is constructed by [Ga 4 O 14 ] 16− helical belts linked [Ga 6 O 6 ] 6+ and [Ga 8 O 8 ] 8+ cages. Thermal analysis indicates that it possesses high thermal stability. Various characterizations and results analysis including XRD , TG-DSC, IR, Raman spectrum , as well as electronic structure calculations were performed.
