Synthesis, crystal structures, and properties of three coordination polymers of 5-(1H-imidazol-1-yl) isophthalic acid

Three coordination polymers have been obtained by hydrothermal synthesis, namely [Zn(imip)(H 2 O) 2 ]·0.5H 2 O ( 1 ), [Co(imip)(H 2 O) 2 ]·0.5H 2 O ( 2 ), and [Cd 2 (imip) 2 (H 2 O) 3 ] ( 3 ) [H 2 imip = 5-(1H-imidazol-1-yl) isophthalic acid]. The coordination polymers were characterized by IR spectra, elemental analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis. Furthermore, single-crystal X-ray analysis reveals that they have 2D structures, which are extended into 3D networks via O–H···O hydrogen-bonding interactions. The luminescent properties of these coordination polymers were investigated.
