Can mixed anatase and rutile photocatalyst TiO2 be synthesized under high pressure in water?

We have reported for the first time the synthesis of mixed anatase and rutile TiO 2 under 27 MPa in water at the temperature as low as 375 °C. XRD patterns show that the content of rutile in the mixed phase TiO 2 is increased by 47.7% compared with the raw TiO 2 . The average particle size of the mixed phase TiO 2 is increased obviously compared with the raw TiO 2 . Compared with that of the raw TiO 2 , the band gap of the mixed phase TiO 2 is reduced to 2.94 eV while the absorbance is enhanced. Although the particle size increases, the mixed phase TiO 2 still exhibits better photocatalytic performance.
