摘要

A robust superhydrophobic coating with high solar transmittance and strong infrared emissivity. • The coating exhibits over 90% transmittance, above 92% infrared emissivity and a water contact angle over 164°. • The PV modules coated with this coating lower operating temperature by 1.21 °C and enhance output voltage by 2.57 mV. • After self-cleaning, the temperature reduction is enhanced to 2.36 °C and the voltage gain increases to 18.02 mV. Dust accumulation and operational overheating severely degrade the efficiency and energy yield of photovoltaic (PV) panels. Although superhydrophobic coatings enable self-cleaning and radiative cooling aids heat dissipation, integrating high transparency, robust superhydrophobicity, and strong mid-infrared emissivity into a single durable coating remains challenging. Herein, we report a transparent, superhydrophobic, highly emissive coating (TSEC) fabricated by scalable layer-by-layer spraying, constructed via crosslinking octadecylamine-modified silica nanoparticles with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane and epoxy resin to form a robust chemically bonded network. The TSEC exhibits 90.23% average transmittance in the PV absorption band (0.4–1.15 μm), 164.6° water contact angle, and 92.13% average emissivity in the atmospheric window (8–13 μm), with excellent durability against UV irradiation, mechanical abrasion, and chemical corrosion. When deployed on PV panels, this multifunctional coating enables synergistic self-cleaning and passive cooling, and these performance advantages are significantly enhanced for contaminated PV panels after self-cleaning, with a temperature reduction of 2.36 °C and a voltage increase of 18.02 mV. This work provides a practical, scalable material strategy to concurrently address PV soiling and overheating, laying a foundation for high-performance, low-maintenance solar technologies.
