摘要
A serious of orange-red Sr 2 TiSi 2 O 8 :Sm 3+ phosphors are synthesized and characterized. • The phosphor can reach a quantum yield of 47.8% along with excellent thermal stability. • Sm 3+ doped Sr 2 TiSi 2 O 8 can be used for white-LEDs. A family of orange-red-emitting Sr 2 TiSi 2 O 8 :Sm 3+ phosphors was fabricated through a conventional high-temperature solid-state reaction and comprehensively evaluated as candidates for white light-emitting diode (W-LED) applications. A systematic series of Sr 2(1- x ) TiSi 2 O 8 :2 x Sm 3+ compositions was obtained via a straightforward and economical synthetic procedure, and the phase purity, luminescence behavior, decay kinetics, and temperature-dependent stability were thoroughly examined. The composition Sr 1.98 TiSi 2 O 8 :0.02Sm 3+ which showed the best performance exhibited strong orange-red emission at 597 nm on pumping at 402 nm and showed reasonably good thermal stability between 298 K and 568 K. The photoluminescence output continually decreased as the temperature increased; however, the spectral shape and peak wavelength exhibited no shift. A peak internal quantum yield (IQY) of 47.8%, combined with satisfactory thermal stability up to 568 K, underscores the practical viability of these phosphors as a warm-orange spectral component in NUV-pumped trichromatic W-LED assemblies. The crystal structure, photoluminescence characteristics, lifetimes, and thermostability of Sr 2 TiSi 2 O 8 :Sm 3+ were thoroughly investigated.
