摘要

The carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCh) was synthesized and studied to carry out the process of wastewater treatment. The solubility of chitosan was enhanced by modifying its structural material with carboxymethyl chitosan. The present study was used to synthesize the novel adsorbent structure (CMCh/GLA/ECH) and its study was carried out by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) characterization. Previously the study was carried out on glutaraldehyde (CMCh/GLA), a single crosslinker. The latest research is on dual crosslinker and its activity in removing metal ions from metal contaminated water. The CMCh was cross linked with glutaraldehyde (GLA) and epichlorohydrin (ECH). In this study, the single (CMCh/GLA) and dual cross-linked (CMCh/GLA/ECH) polymer adsorbents were used to study the adsorption capacity of the adsorbent. The metal ions removal efficiency for Co (Ⅱ) and Cu (Ⅱ) was studied. The results obtained were fitted to the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption model. The Langmuir model showed monolayer adsorption on the homogeneous surface of the adsorbent. The cross-linked polymer (CMCh/GLA/ECH) showed the maximum efficiency of the adsorbent prepared.
