摘要

Lu-doped LaFeO 3 nanoparticles are synthesized via a sol-gel method. • 7%Lu-LFO exhibits excellent sensitivity, stability and selectivity to acetone. • 7%Lu-LFO maintains remarkable acetone sensitivity at high relative humidity. • The greater charge transfer enhanced the adsorption of acetone on Lu-LFO. The design of highly sensitive metal oxide-based acetone sensors is of crucial importance for non-invasive diagnosis of diabetes. Herein, we report La 0.93 Lu 0.07 FeO 3 as high acetone sensing materials. The La 0.93 Lu 0.07 FeO 3 based sensor demonstrates a high response value of 82.1 toward 40 ppm acetone at 140°C and a low detection limit (200 ppb), along with good selectivity and long-term stability. Furthermore, La 0.93 Lu 0.07 FeO 3 maintains sufficient acetone sensing performance under high humidity (85% RH), allowing for accurate identification of diabetic patients versus healthy individuals in simulated human exhaled breath tests. Theoretical calculations reveal the importance of interfacial charge transfer between acetone molecule and Lu-LaFeO 3 surface to the acetone sensitivity. Acetone exhibits the greatest charge transfer and thus the strongest adsorption interaction on Lu-LaFeO 3 surface, which promotes gas molecule capture efficiency in acetone detection and accounts for the high sensing performance. This work presents a high-sensitivity acetone sensing material for non-invasive diabetic diagnosis and provides valuable insights for the rational design of high-performance perovskite-based sensors. Mechanistic investigations revealed that Lu doping promotes interfacial charge transfer between the material and acetone molecules, which serves as the key driver for the enhanced gas-sensing performance.
