In this study, five salts containing the same anion fac-[FeII(CO)3I3]− were prepared through the reaction of cis-[Fe(CO)4I2] with organic amines whose protonated forms, i.e., (EtNH3+), (PrNH3+), (BuNH3+), (PentNH3+), and (Et2NH2+), become the cations of the salts 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, respectively. These aminium salts, which are soluble in water and polar organic solvents such as DMSO and methanol, were characterized by various techniques including X-ray single-crystal diffraction. These salts underwent solvolysis in both water and DMSO to release CO, following first-order kinetics. In DMSO, the decomposition of these salts proceeded via a significantly simpler mechanism without the involvement of radicals than that in water, and the CO-release rate of these salts was almost linearly related to the hydrophobicity (the logarithm of the oil/water partition coefficient P) of the amines. The CO-release rate was substantially faster in water and in addition to undergoing solvolysis, the anions generated an iodine radical, I˙. Due to the complicated decomposition of these salts in water, the CO-release proceeded in a two-stage manner. The iodine radical was found to be at least partly responsible for the cytotoxicity of these salts in water; this indicates that the proposed anion has potential for applications in cancer therapy.

Prussian blue and its analogues (PBA) based nanomaterials have been widely applied to removing pollutants in the recent years. However, easy aggregation and poor recycling largely limit their practical applications. In this work, spiderweb-like Fe-Co Prussian blue analogue/polyacrylonitrile (FCPBA/PAN) nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning and applied to degrading bisphenol-A (BPA) by activating peroxymonosulfate (PMS). Detailed characterization demonstrated that a high loading of FCPBA (86% of FCPBA in FCPBA/PAN) was successfully fixed on the PAN nanofibers. 67% of BPA was removed within 240 min when 500 mg·L−1PMS and 233 mg·L−1FCPBA/PAN were introduced in 20 mg·L−1BPA solution at initial pH of 2.8. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and radical inhibition experiments were performed to identify the possible degradation mechanism. For comparison, a low loading of FCPBA nanofibers (0.6FCPBA/PAN nanofibers, 43% of FCPBA in FCPBA/PAN) were also prepared and tested the catalytic performance. The results showed that the activity of FCPBA/PAN was much higher than 0.6FCPBA/PAN. Furthermore, a FCPBA/PAN packed column was made as a reactor to demonstrate the reusability and stability of FCPBA/PAN nanofibers, which also exhibited the bright future for the industrial application. This work makes it possible to fabricate efficient PBA nanocatalysts with excellent recyclability and promotes the application of PBA in industrial areas.Keywords:Fe-Co Prussian blue analogues;electrospinning;peroxymonosulfate;BPA

Low solar energy utilization, instability of Fe ions and Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycle difficulty are three main factors, limiting the photocatalytic activity of the Fe/peroxymonosulfate (PMS) system. Herein, based on the N and Fe co-doped carbon dots (N, Fe-CDs) synthesized by a facile one-pot hydrothermal method, a new Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycle system for PMS activation under visible light irradiation was proposed. The characterization experiments showed that Fe has been successfully doped to the sp 2 graphitic structure and mainly existed as Fe-N and Fe-OH complexes, which played an important role in harvesting visible light, enhancing the stability of Fe ions and acting as active sites to accelerate electron transfer. Under visible light irradiation, the photogenerated electrons of N, Fe-CDs could be directly transferred to Fe (III) for Fe (II) formation via the ligand-to-mental charge transfer process, thus accelerating the Fe(III)/Fe(II) cycle. When N, Fe-CDs were used for activating PMS under visible light irradiation, aminopyrine could be efficiently degraded and mineralized to CO 2 via the cleavage of pyrazole ring, demethylation, hydroxylation, decarbonylation and the cleavage of benzene ring. The produced O 2 − and 1 O 2 played the main roles in the whole photocatalytic reaction. The above results revealed that the novel N, Fe-CDs could effectively activate PMS under visible light irradiation for the degradation of pharmaceuticals in the polluted water.

Single-metal site catalysts have exhibited highly efficient electrocatalytic properties due to their unique coordination environments and adjustable local structures for reactant adsorption and electron transfer. They have been widely studied for many electrochemical reactions, including oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). However, it remains a significant challenge to realize high-efficiency bifunctional catalysis (ORR/OER) with single-metal-type active sites. Herein, we report atomically dispersed Fe–Co dual metal sites (FeCo–NC) derived from Fe and Co co-doped zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-8s), aiming to build up multiple active sites for bifunctional ORR/OER catalysts. The atomically dispersed FeCo–NC catalyst shows excellent bifunctional catalytic activity in alkaline media for the ORR (E1/2 = 0.877 V) and the OER (Ej=10 = 1.579 V). Moreover, its outstanding stability during the ORR and the OER is comparable to noble-metal catalysts (Pt/C and RuO2). The atomic dispersion state, coordination structure, and the charge density difference of the dual metal site FeCo–NC were characterized and determined using advanced physical characterization and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The FeCo–N6 moieties are likely the main active sites simultaneously for the ORR and the OER with improved performance relative to the traditional single Fe and Co site catalysts. We further incorporated the FeCo–NC catalyst into an air electrode for fabricating rechargeable and flexible Zn–air batteries, generating a superior power density (372 mW cm–2) and long-cycle (over 190 h) stability. This work would provide a method to design and synthesize atomically dispersed multi-metal site catalysts for advanced electrocatalysis.

Based on the strong capability of transition metal ions for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation and highly affinity of MoS 2 towards PMS, thus decorating MoS 2 with transition metal ions would efficiently activate PMS for degradation of organic pollutants. In this work, Co/Fe co-doped MoS 2 catalyst were synthesized by simple chemical method. The prepared Co/Fe co-doped MoS 2 catalyst displayed excellent catalytic activity for organic pollutant degradation. The removal efficiency of RhB and MB is 99% in 6 min and 98% in 15 min under PMS system, respectively. Both the capture experiment and EPR results verified that 1 O 2 played an important role in the organic pollutant degradation process in PMS system. The catalytic mechanism revealed that the synergistic effect between Mo ion and Co/Fe ions is beneficial for boosting the catalytic properties of Co/Fe co-doped MoS 2 catalyst. The cycle experiments confirmed that Co/Fe co-doped MoS 2 possesses excellent chemical stability and re-usability.

The preparation of stable electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction is of the utmost importance to realize high performance water decomposition reaction . Metal-organic framework (MOF) nanostructures have become promising materials. Herein, we report three kinds of electrocatalysts with different structures and properties for the oxygen evolution reaction, which were constructed by using different binding sites of three kinds of ligands following a mechanism which involved only *O and *OH species as intermediates. CoFeBTC-MOF shows excellent overpotential η = 261 mV at 10 mA cm −2 (1.481 V vs. RHE), Tafel slope of 59.29 mV dec −1 and pretty excellent stability (48 h of continuous testing), making it become one of the best acid-resistant catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction. The DFT calculations show that there are different ways to transfer electrons . In addition, the coupling effect between Co and Fe metals is the key to regulate the electrocatalytic activity , confirming the cooperative catalysis mechanism with a reduced energy barrier.

Photocatalytic nanocomposites of titanium dioxide (TiO2) were prepared by hydrothermal method. Reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was applied to prepare various TiO2 composites of doped nanoparticles by using NH4Cl and FeCl3 as sources. The structure
and morphology of these composites showed that TiO2 was loaded on surface of RGO. Meanwhile, the agglomeration of TiO2 decreased and the dispersion became uniform for doped materials. Under ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation, the photocatalytic degradation of volatile
organic compounds (VOC) by RGO/TiO2 composites with codoping of N and Fe reached to 90.5%. The photocatalytic degradation was higher than RGO/TiO2 composites and pure TiO2 by 1.8 and 5.9 times, respectively. The role of co-doping composites may have a possible
mechanism for toluene under UV light irradiation. The enhanced photocatalytic properties were attributed to N and Fe doping which generated intermediate energy level, extended absorption and decreased band gap of UV light.

Na-metal halide batteries are regarded as one of the most promising candidates for large-scale energy storage systems owing to their high energy density and high safety. However, the problems of low kinetics and poor stability caused by the low-conductive chlorides have restricted the development of Na-metal halide batteries. Here, we design a facile approach that combines electrospinning and electrodeposition to prepare electrodes with a nanostructured composite containing carbon nanofibers and Ni-Fe alloy (CNF@Ni-Fe alloy). It is confirmed that the Ni-Fe alloy can stably be oxidized and reformed when discharges from 2.36 V to 2.32 V. Benefiting from the unique nanoscale arrangement of Ni-Fe, the heterogeneous distribution of FeCl 2 and NiCl 2 effectively overcomes the block of low-conductive chlorides. Furthermore, the coreaction of Ni 2+ and Fe 2+ directly decreases the polarization potential, resulting in the improvement of reaction kinetics. Notably, batteries with the CNF@Ni-Fe alloy display a high specific capacity of 199.7 mAh g −1 and a capacity retention rate of 99% after 50 cycles at 0.6 C. The CNF@Ni-Fe alloy cathodes also deliver long-term stability with 104.5 mAh g −1 capacity retention after 600 cycles at 2 C and a good rate capability of 5 C.

The development of oxygen electrodes for reversible solid oxide cells (RSOCs) is hindered by insufficient catalytic activity, limited stability, and a mismatch in the thermal expansion coefficients (TEC) with electrolytes. Herein, we design and synthesize a novel perovskite oxide, La 0.6 Ca 0.4 Fe 0.8 Ni 0.1 Co 0.1 O 3–δ (LCFNC), using a multi-element B-site synergistic doping strategy. Systematic investigations reveal that the incorporation of Fe stabilizes the perovskite lattice, while the addition of Ni and Ca effectively suppresses the TEC (to 12.7 × 10 −6 K −1 after GDC compositing), ensuring excellent electrolyte compatibility. Furthermore, the cooperative interplay between Ni, Co, and Fe establishes ternary active centers, significantly increasing the concentration of surface oxygen vacancies. Full-cell measurements demonstrate a peak power density of 1.60 W·cm −2 at 800°C and a high electrolysis current density of 1.82 A·cm −2 at 1.3 V. Stability tests, including 100 h of constant-current electrolysis at 750°C and 24 reversible operation cycles, highlight exceptional interfacial and structural stability. More importantly, the assembled industrial-sized RSOCs (15 × 15 cm 2 ) achieve an output power of 64 W in fuel cell mode and a maximum current of 105 A in electrolyzer mode at 800°C, demonstrating its potential for practical applications. This work elucidates the mechanistic role of multi-element B-site regulation and provides an effective design principle for oxygen electrode materials that enhance activity, stability, and compatibility simultaneously, thus advancing the practical deployment of high-performance RSOCs.

A mixed metal–ion metal–organic framework (MOF(Fe/Co)) was synthesized by a hydrothermal process using ferric and cobalt salts as the metal–ion precursors and trimesic acid as the organic ligand. The structure of the as-prepared MOF(Fe/Co) was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N 2 adsorption–desorption, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and thermogravimetry/differential thermogravimetry (TG/DTG). The bifunctional catalytic activities of MOF(Fe/Co) toward the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in alkaline electrolyte were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). The results demonstrate that the as-prepared MOF(Fe/Co) has a good crystalline structure with abundant micropores , a high specific surface area and a high thermal stability. The MOF(Fe/Co) exhibits excellent bifunctional catalytic activities for OER and ORR. The high specific surface area and abundant micropores are beneficial for oxygen diffusion and catalytic sites utilization in the catalyst, which is favorable for the OER and ORR. The RDE results for MOF(Fe/Co)-catalyzed ORR indicate that the two-electron pathway was preferred at relatively positive potentials, whereas the four-electron pathway gradually dominated at more negative potentials.

This study reported the synthesis of magnetic solid solutions V 2 (A x B y Sn 1− x − y )C (where A and B are Mn, Fe, or Co) MAX phases. These materials were prepared by incorporating magnetic elements into the V 2 SnC MAX phase via pressure-less sintering at 1 000 °C for 3 hours. XRD analysis reveals that the composition with x = y = 0.2 exhibits a shift of diffraction peaks to higher angles, indicating lattice parameter changes, and achieves the highest phase purity with the maximum solid solution limit, further increases in the dopant content led to the formation of impurities. While the solid solution of magnetic elements preserves the characteristic layered structure of the MAX phase, it successfully induces magnetic properties. The magnetic transition temperatures for these solid solutions ranges from 61 to 200 K. Specifically, V 2 (Mn x Co y Sn 1− x − y )C demonstrated hard magnetic characteristics, with a high saturation magnetization (6.536 emu/g) and large remanence (4.236 emu/g). In contrast, V 2 (Mn x Fe y Sn 1− x − y )C and V 2 (Fe x Co y Sn 1− x − y )C exhibits soft magnetic behavior, evidenced by their narrow hysteresis loops and low coercivity. Their saturation magnetization values are 3.80 and 1.784 emu/g, respectively. The distinctly “S”-shaped hysteresis loop of V 2 (Fe x Co y Sn 1− x − y )C further confirms its soft magnetic nature.

Facing the complex application environment and overall inefficiency in the complete water-splitting process, the development of highly efficient and stable catalytic materials is urgently required. This study innovatively proposes and for the first time implements a rapid synthesis technique driven by microwave-induced sulfur sublimation, successfully preparing MS 2 /RuS 2 (M = Co, Fe, Ni) heterostructure interfaces with high structural stability and uniform active site distribution within merely 60 s. By incorporating iron-group sulfides, the electronic structure of pyrite-type RuS 2 is effectively modulated, enabling the developed MS 2 /RuS 2 @G catalyst to exhibit superior activity in alkaline environments. Particularly, the cobalt-based sulfide regulated pyrite-type RuS 2 (CoS 2 /RuS 2 @G) achieves a mass activity in the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) that is 15.4 times that of 20 wt.% Pt/C, and in the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), it surpasses commercial IrO 2 by two orders of magnitude. This research not only provides a new pathway for enhancing the performance and environmental adaptability of water-splitting catalysts but also presents a simple and universal method to boost catalytic activity through a synergistic modulation strategy.
