Low-density polyethylene (LDPE), as an excellent dielectric insulating material, is widely used in electrical equipment insulation, whereas its low thermal conductivity limits its further development and application. Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) filler was introduced into LDPE to tailor the properties of LDPE to make it more suitable for high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable insulation application. We employed melt blending to prepare h-BN/LDPE thermally conductive composite insulation materials with different contents. We focused on investigating the micromorphology and structure, thermal properties, and electrical properties of h-BN/LDPE composites, and explained the space charge characteristics. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) results indicate that the h-BN filler has good dispersibility in the LDPE at a low loading (less than 3 phr (3 g of micron h-BN particles filled in 100g of LDPE)), as well as no heterogeneous phase formation. The results of thermal conductivity analysis show that the introduction of h-BN filler can significantly improve the thermal conductivity of composites. The thermal conductivity of the composite samples with 10 phr h-BN particles is as high as 0.51 W/(m·K), which is 57% higher than that of pure LDPE. The electrical performance illustrates that h-BN filler doping can significantly inhibit space charge injection and reduce space charge accumulation in LDPE. The interface effect between h-BN and the substrate reduces the carrier mobility, thereby suppressing the injection of charges of the same polarity and increasing the direct-current (DC) breakdown strength. h-BN/LDPE composite doped with 3 phr h-BN particles has excellent space charge suppression effect and high DC breakdown strength, which is 14.3% higher than that of pure LDPE.

Two unequal K and K' valleys in transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) enable large and controllable polarization, which is the cornerstone of emerging valleytronic applications. Here, a phase engineering strategy aided by resonant plasmonic coupling is proposed to manipulate the valley degree of freedom. Compared with the pristine WSe 2 monolayer, the hybrid H/T phase WSe 2 exhibits an enhanced degrees of circular polarization (DCP) and valley polarization (DVP). As further aided by the designed Au plasmonic array, the T phase facilitates the excitons process and promotes the charge transfer in WSe 2 /Au interface under the plasmonic-enhanced electromagnetic field. Consequently, both the DCP and DVP values are considerably enhanced to 38.5% (15.6%) and 15.1% (7.6%) at 13 K (room temperature), respectively. Through finite difference time domain simulations (FDTD), the near-field excitation, exciton decay, and far-field detection processes are systematically analyzed, and highly consistent polarizations are quantitatively achieved between the theoretical and the experimental results. Accordingly, the high polarizations are revealed to be contributed by the increased exciton generation and radiation efficiency, chiral electromagnetic field, and non-equilibrium spin distribution in the hybrid phase. The research presented here illustrates a promising route to control the spin and valley degrees of freedom in TMDC materials.

This report describes the first example of palladium-catalyzed ortho-C–H glycosylation/ipso-alkenylation of aryl iodides, and the easily accessible glycosyl chlorides are used as a glycosylation reagent. The reaction is compatible with the functional groups of the substrates, and a series of C-aryl glycosides have been synthesized in good to excellent yield and with excellent diastereoselectivity. It is found that a cheap 5-norbornene-2-carbonitrile as a transient mediator can effectively promote this reaction. In addition, ipso-arylation and cyanation were also realized by the strategy.

Disrupting mitochondrial metabolism and reactivating antitumor immunity offers a compelling strategy to enhance therapeutic outcomes in glioblastoma (GBM). Here, we report a mitochondria-targeting nanoplatform that integrates GBM-selective delivery, metabolic disruption, and immune activation for synergistic GBM therapy. The nanoplatform co-encapsulates L820—a conjugate of lonidamine (LND) and IR820 with mitochondrial affinity—and the immunomodulator TP5 into a ZIF-8 framework, which is coated with H-ferritin (HFn) for TfR1-mediated blood–brain barrier (BBB) penetration and GBM targeting. After endocytosis and GBM-specific, acid-triggered degradation, L820 accumulates in mitochondria and causes profound mitochondrial dysfunction, including membrane potential collapse, ATP depletion, and AMPK activation. Concurrently, Zn 2+ released from ZIF-8 suppresses GLUT1 and HIF-1α, impairing glycolysis and reducing CD47 expression. These dual metabolic stresses induce mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) release and activate the cGAS–STING pathway, promoting type I interferon production and immunogenic cell death. TP5 enhances T cell activation while suppressing Tregs, further remodeling the GBM immune microenvironment. This mitochondria-focused strategy achieves potent metabolic interference and immune reprogramming for effective GBM treatment.

The practical application of aqueous supercapacitors is constrained by the balance between cycle life and power characteristics. This study develops a composite electrode based on hexagonal boron nitride/carbon nanotubes (h-BN/CNTs), featuring fabrication processes through thermal annealing and electrostatic assembly. The material ingeniously combines the chemical inertness and structural stability of h-BN with the conductive network of CNTs, successfully constructing an electrode with highly stable mechanical and electrochemical interfaces. The assembled symmetric supercapacitor demonstrates excellent long-term operational reliability, maintaining over 90% stability after 10,000 charge-discharge cycles while exhibiting outstanding rate performance. The core value of this work lies in its application to h-BN platforms for high-power, high-frequency optical devices, successfully transforming it into a high-performance electrochemical energy storage component. The material has a high power density of 600 W/kg and a fairly good energy density of 13.6 Wh/kg in the symmetric two-electrode test. This device construction strategy based on a unified core material system creates compatibility advantages for material substrate and process-level integration with high-power optical devices, providing a material foundation for developing next-generation optoelectronic integrated systems.

Interfacial hydrogen bond connectivity (HBC) of electrical double layer (EDL) has been identified as a critical factor for many electrocatalytic reactions, However, there is a lack of systematic investigation on the correlation between HBC and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) kinetics, and the advanced strategies to rationally manipulate HBC. Herein, we proposed an interfacial charge manipulation (ICM) methodology to engineer HBC and enhance OER kinetic of various electrocatalysts including Ni3FeN and the benchmark oxides (RuO 2 , Ni(OH) 2 , Co(OH) 2 , FeNi LDH, and FeCo LDH). With Ni 3 FeN as a model catalyst, we systematically studied the influence of different anion chemisorption (NO 3 – , SO 4 2– , and PO 4 3– ) on HBC and establishing a positive correlation between OER activity and the charge of anions. Electrochemical tests show that the modified Ni 3 FeN catalysts with NO 3 – , SO 4 2– , and PO 4 3– exhibit 1.1-, 1.4-, and 2.3-fold activity enhancements at 1.5–1.6 V vs. RHE relative to the raw Ni 3 FeN, respectively. The in-situ spectroscopy and AIMD reveal that high anion charges increase four-hydrogen-bonded water populations, strengthening HBC to promote proton transfer across the EDL during deprotonations step and lower energy obstacle of the rate-determining step. This work has offered a new paradigm to regulate the interfacial HBC at molecular scale for promoting OER.

The characteristics of the reaction for the preparation of dichlorophenylphosphine (DCPP) via benzene and PCl 3 in the presence of AlCl 3 were studied. Some unique characteristics were observed when a catalytic amount of AlCl 3 was used. Namely, more than one mole of DCPP was obtained per mole AlCl 3 , the reaction solution was layered, and DCPP could be directly separated. Our mechanistic study showed that benzene reacted with PCl 3 to form DCPP-AlCl 3 , and DCPP-AlCl 3 dissociated into DCPP and AlCl 3 , continuing to catalyze this reaction. This resulted in the high catalytic efficiency of AlCl 3 . The layering of the reaction solution was caused by the immiscibility of DCPP-AlCl 3 with the raw materials, greatly facilitating the dissociation process of DCPP-AlCl 3 . The formation of diphenylphosphorus chloride (DPC) was due to a continuous Friedel-Crafts reaction between DCPP and benzene. DPC cooperated with AlCl 3 to form the stable coordination compound DPC-AlCl 3 that did not dissociate and was responsible for the deactivation of AlCl 3 .

Since dopamine (DA) is one of the central neurotransmitters and plays an important role in the human metabolism, its accurate detection is crucial for the diagnosis of DA-linked diseases. Herein, we demonstrated a novel electrochemical sensor for DA detection based on carbon-doped hexagonal boron nitrogen (C-hBN). C-hBN was prepared via a thermal polymerization process using melamine borate as a precursor. The successful C-doping was evidenced by fourier transform infrared (FTIR), photoluminescent (PL) and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The carbon-doping can increase reactive sites and facilitate electrons transfer in h-BN, which was confirmed by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The C-hBN modified glassy carbon electrode (C-hBN/GCE) exhibited the enhanced electrocatalytic activity toward DA redox, whose CV peak current is 2.8 and 4.3 times higher than those of pure h-BN modified and bare GCEs, respectively. Based on CV method, the C-hBN/GCE presented a low detection limit of 5.8 nM (S/ N = 3) and a sensitivity of 2037 µA•mM•cm −2 . The linear response ranges were over the DA concentrations of 0.01–40 µM and 40–300 µM, respectively. In addition, the sensor was applied to detect DA in real samples including human serum and urine, and satisfactory results were achieved. The results suggested that the defect-engineered h-BN holds great potential for the development of electroanalytical devices with high-performance.

In this work, a series of h -BN/ α -SnWO 4 (BN/SW) nanocomposites with different h -BN concentrations (0.3–1.0 wt%) were prepared through a hydrothermal method. The composition, structure and morphology of BN/SW nanocomposites were systematically investigated. The formation of BN/SW heterojunction was evidenced by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The BN/SW composites showed plate-to-plate structure consisting α -SnWO 4 and h -BN nanoplates. The optical and photoelectrochemical studies revealed that the decorating of h -BN can significantly facilitate the separation of the photo-created charge carries due to the formation of heterostructure. As a result, BN/SW hetero-structure exhibited the superior photocatalytic performance under visible light, which was confirmed by the photo-degradation of methyl orange (MO) and tetracycline (TC). Especially, the BN/SW-0.5 sample has the best rate constant of 0.0323 min −1 , which is 4.6 times larger than that of α -SnWO 4 . Based on trapping experiment, the h + radical was identified as the dominant reactive species, and ·O 2 − and ·OH also made contribution to the photocatalysis. In addition, the photocatalytic enhancement mechanism of BN/SW heterojunction was proposed. This study shed light on the roles of h -BN in the design of photocatalysts with high-performance.

In recent years, the carbohydrate moieties of plants have received considerable attention, as they are a potential source of cross-reactive, allergy-provoking immune responses. In addition, carbohydrate structures also play a critical role in plant metabolism. Here, we present a simple and rapid method for preparing and analyzing N-glycans from different cultivars of radish (Raphanus sativus) using an N-glycanase specific for the release of plant-derived carbohydrate structures. To achieve this, crude trichloroacetic acid precipitates of radish homogenates were treated with PNGase H+, and labeled using 2-aminobenzamide as a fluorescent tag. The labeled N-glycan samples were subsequently analyzed by ultra performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) separation and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry for a detailed structural evaluation and to quantify relative abundancies of the radish-derived N-glycan structures. This protocol can also be used for the analysis of N-glycans from various other plant species, and may be useful for further investigation of the function and effects of N-glycans on human health.

Influences of ZrO 2 additive on the microstructure and high temperature oxidation behavior of h-BN/ZrO 2 composites have been investigated. In addition to the enhanced strength , the oxidation reaction between boron and oxygen can be effectively hindered even at 1200 °C when adding 20 wt% ZrO 2 into the h-BN matrix. Besides the doped ZrO 2 particles, ZrB 2 and ZrB were also formed in the composites after sintering via the reaction between ZrO 2 and h-BN. The oxidation product ZrO 2 of these Zr–B compounds can act as protective layer during oxidation, which covers the sample surface and prevents further penetration of oxygen. Good oxidation resistance at 1200 °C and high strength make h-BN/ZrO 2 composites promising materials for high temperature applications.

Sulfonated hierarchical H-USY zeolite was prepared and characterized by X-ray diffraction, N 2 physisorption, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy, temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia, and acid–base titration. It was proved that sulfonic group was successfully anchored onto the hierarchical H-USY zeolite. The acidity of the hierarchical H-USY was remarkably improved. Sulfonated hierarchical H-USY zeolite was efficient for the hydrolysis of hemicellulose and cellulose. The yield of TRS for hydrolysis of hemicellulose reached 78.0% at 140 °C for 9 h. For hydrolysis of α-cellulose, 60.8% conversion with 22.4% yield of glucose was obtained. Even for microcrystalline cellulose, 43.7% conversion with 15.1% yield of glucose can be obtained. These results are much higher than those obtained over hierarchical H-USY zeolite, indicating that both the acidity and the pore structure determine the activity of zeolite as catalyst in the hydrolysis of biomass.
