In recent years, metal halide perovskite materials have garnered significant attention due to their low cost, high absorption coefficient, tunable bandgap, and high fluorescence quantum yield. These materials have found wide applications in optoelectronic devices, bioimaging, and solar cells. However, the instability of organic–inorganic hybrid perovskites has led to a shift in focus toward metal halide perovskites. These materials offer the advantages of simple preparation and tunable morphology, making them promising for various optoelectronic applications. Different morphologies of metal halide perovskite materials include quantum dots, nanowires, nanorods, and nanoplates, and these morphological differences can impact their photoluminescence properties. In this study, we successfully prepared CsPbBr3 nanorods using an elemental exchange method. Compared with traditional hot-injection methods, this approach allows for easier control of the nanorod morphology. These nanorods exhibited higher fluorescence intensity, improved fluorescence quantum yield, and enhanced photoluminescence lifetime compared to traditional nanocrystals. Therefore, this method of preparing nanorods presents a new direction for the development of metal halide perovskite optical materials.

All-inorganic halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) are generally prepared by liquid phase method with the help of volatile organic solvents, inert gas protection and complex organometallic precursors. Herein, a simple, efficient and green method based on all-solid-state mechanochemical synthesis is proposed to prepare CsPbBr 3 NCs. NCs with excellent performance can be prepared by grinding raw materials CsBr and PbBr 2 through high energy ball milling, and prepared NCs show good stability in ethanol and living conditions. Interestingly, CsPbBr 3 NCs prepared by ball milling have a sudden increase in their fluorescence intensity dispersed in water. After soaking for 8 h, CsPbBr 3 NCs have been almost entirely transformed into CsPb 2 Br 5 NCs. The fluorescence intensity of samples is 80 times of that before soaking, and absolute PL quantum yield (PLQY) of samples increases significantly by up to 92%. These results provide a strong evidence for the current debate about whether CsPb 2 Br 5 emits light and propose a deeper understanding about structural transition from orthorhombic CsPbBr 3 to tetragonal CsPb 2 Br 5 , which is of great significance to the application of CsPb 2 Br 5 in optoelectronic devices. This will provide a new idea for the synthesis and transformation of halide perovskites.

Perovskite nanocrystals attract growing interest owing to their unique optoelectronic properties. However, their chemical stability is relatively poor due to their ionic nature. In this work, we found that inorganic cations (e.g., Cs+) and ligands (e.g., didodecyldimethylammonium bromide, DDAB), used in the synthesis of CsPbBr3 nanocrystals (NCs) at ambient temperature, quickly converted CsPbBr3 NCs to Cs4PbBr6 NCs during the synthesis or postsynthetic treatment. These cations (Cs+, DDA+) were involved in both the chemical composition and dissociation of CsPbBr3 NCs. Nevertheless, DDA+ induced the generation of an impurity in addition to Cs4PbBr6 NCs due to its different nature from that of Cs+. The transformation process was observed by optical spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The reverse transformation of Cs4PbBr6 NCs to CsPbBr3 NCs can be carried out completely by adding sufficient PbBr2 into Cs4PbBr6 NCs. Therefore, the forward and backward reactions were driven by Cs+ and Pb2+. With additional DDAB for passivation during the reverse transformation, the resulting product possessed a better photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY, ∼90%) compared with that without the involvement of DDAB (∼69%). By considering the Cs4PbBr6 NCs as the Cs source, the reverse transformation can be analogized to the synthesis of CsPbBr3 NCs, providing a possible strategy for synthesizing luminescent perovskite NCs at room temperature with theoretical stoichiometry.

Lead halide perovskite quantum dots, also known as perovskite nanocrystals, are considered one of the most promising photovoltaic materials for solar cells due to their outstanding optoelectronic properties and simple preparation techniques. The key factors restricting the photoelectric conversion efficiency of solar cell systems are the separation and transmission performances of charge carriers. Here, femtosecond time-resolved ultrafast spectroscopy was used to measure the interfacial charge transfer dynamics of different sizes of CsPbBr 3 assembled with TiO 2 . The effect of perovskite size on the charge transfer is discussed. According to our experimental data analysis, the time constants of the interfacial electron transfer and charge recombination of the assembled systems of CsPbBr 3 and titanium dioxide become larger when the size of the CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals increases. We discuss the physical mechanism by which the size of perovskites affects the rate of charge transfer in detail. We expect that our experimental results provide experimental support for the application of novel quantum dots for solar cell materials.

Inorganic perovskites, such as CsPbX 3 (X = Cl, Br, I), have attracted attention due to their excellent thermal stabilities and high photoluminescence quantum efficiencies. Here, we report on all-inorganic light-emitting diodes (LEDs), including inorganic perovskite emitters (CsPbBr 3 ) based on the heterostructure of n-ZnO/Al 2 O 3 /CsPbBr 3 /p-GaN. The effects of the CsPbBr 3 and Al 2 O 3 interlayers on the electroluminescence performance have been systematically investigated. It is observed that the Al 2 O 3 interlayer plays an important role in determining the emission performance. By introducing the Al 2 O 3 layers, the electron–hole recombination can almost be limited within the perovskite. The emission peaks of the heterojunction LEDs change from blue-green to pure green with the increased luminous intensities and decreased leakage currents. It provides an idea for the preparation of all-inorganic perovskite LEDs.

Despite recent impressive advances in the synthesis of all-inorganic perovskite CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, and I) via facile solution-based approaches, it remains challenging to achieve well-defined morphologies of interest, particularly one-dimensional (1D) nanowires. Herein, we report a robust polar-solvent-assisted route to 1D CsPbBr3 nanowires via room temperature supersaturated recrystallization. Notably, compared to CsPbBr3 nanocubes synthesized in the absence of polar solvent acetonitrile (ACN), upon the introduction of a suitable amount of ACN into antisolvent toluene, CsPbBr3 nanowires are rapidly yielded, experiencing a cubic-to-orthorhombic phase transformation and a blue-shifted emission. The formation mechanism of CsPbBr3 nanowires can be qualitatively understood on the basis of the role of ACN as a structure-directing agent. Intriguingly, the addition of ACN renders an accelerated anion-exchange reaction between CsPbBr3 and halide salts (i.e., Br-to-Cl and Br-to-I exchanges) due to improved dissolution of the halide ions in ACN. The polar solvent-directed growth strategy may represent an effective means of expanding the diversity of morphologies accessible to perovskite nanocrystals. As such, it facilitates an investigation into the dimension-dependent optical and optoelectronic properties of perovskite-based nanomaterials and devices. These CsPbBr3 nanowires can be potentially used for nanoscale photonic, electronic, and optoelectronic devices, including photodetectors, light-emitting diodes, lasers, and solar cells.

All-inorganic metal halide perovskites have attracted considerable attention due to their high application potentials in optoelectronics, photonics, and energy conversion. Herein, two-dimensional (2D) CsPbBr3 nanosheets with a thickness of about 3 nm have been synthesized through a simple chemical process based on a hot-injection technique. The lateral dimension of CsPbBr3 nanosheets ranges from 11 to 110 nm, which can be tuned by adjusting the ratio of short ligands (octanoic acid and octylamine) over long ligands (oleic acid and oleylamine). The nanosheets result from the self-assembly of CsPbBr3 nanocubes with an edge length of about 3 nm, which possess the same crystal orientation. In addition, an amorphous region of about 1 nm in width is found between adjacent nanocubes. To investigate both the structure and the growth mechanism of these nanosheets, microstructural characterizations at the atomic scale are conducted, combined with X-ray diffraction analysis, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) measurement, and density functional theory (DFT) calculation, aiming to determine the configuration of different ligands adsorbed onto CsPbBr3. Our results suggest that the adjacent nanocubes are mainly connected together by short ligands and inclined long ligands. On the basis of the DFT calculation results, a relationship is derived for the volume ratio of short ligands over long ligands and the lateral dimensions of CsPbBr3 nanosheets. Moreover, a physicochemical mechanism is proposed to explain the 2D growth of CsPbBr3 nanosheets. Such a finding provides new insights regarding the well-ordered self-arrangement of CsPbBr3 nanomaterials, as well as new routes to synthesize 2D CsPbX3 (X = Cl and I) nanosheets of suitable dimensions for specific and large-scale applications.

Deep insight into the ultrafast charge carrier dynamics is fundamentally significant for the development of high-performance optoelectronic devices. The CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 nanocomposite, as an important member of the perovskite family, has attracted extensive research interest. However, the underlying ultrafast carrier dynamics is still elusive. Herein, an endeavor has been made to investigate the impact of Cs4PbBr6 encapsulation on the ultrafast carrier dynamics of CsPbBr3 nanoinclusions. The hot-carrier cooling time is about 190–302 fs, relying on the pump fluence, which is relatively shorter than that of pure CsPbBr3. Thus, the encapsulation of Cs4PbBr6 shortens the hot-carrier cooling time, which is attributed to the participation of longitudinal optical (LO) phonons from Cs4PbBr6 and dissipation of the energy via coupling to surface encapsulation. The biexciton binding energy is estimated to be 69 meV, with a biexciton lifetime of 40 ps. The biexciton binding energy is a relatively high value compared to those of CsPbBr3 nanostructures with similar biexciton lifetimes, which is mainly due to the smaller sizes of the CsPbBr3 inclusions in the composites.

The pursuit of defect-suppressed metal halide perovskite films with optimal optoelectronic properties remains a persistent challenge in semiconductor device engineering. In this study, the effects of NH3 plasma on the fabrication of high-quality CsPbBr3 perovskite films are evaluated systematically. NH3 plasma generates NH2 and NH species, which enhance grain growth and reduce defect states. As a result, the trap density decreases significantly from 7.9 × 1012 cm–3 to 6.8 × 1011 cm–3, improving CsPbBr3 film quality. The photodetector assembled with the NH3 plasma-processed CsPbBr3 film delivers outstanding performance, including a responsivity of 62.7 A/W, detectivity of 7.7 × 1012 Jones, ultrafast response time of 0.1/0.3 ms, and exceptional stability, all of which surpass the metrics of the non-plasma-treated device. These findings offer a promising solution for enhancing the quality of CsPbBr3 perovskite films, thereby improving the properties of optoelectronic devices.

All-inorganic halide perovskite quantum dots are widely known to suffer luminescence degradation owing to their intrinsic instability in atmospheric circumstances. Their high surface energy and weak internal ionic bonding could result in quantum dot agglomeration and structural degradation. In this work, we demonstrate that triallylamine is an efficient recovery agent to reignite the luminescence emission of aged CsPbBr 3 quantum dots. The aged CsPbBr 3 quantum dots re-emit bright green light instantly after triallylamine etching. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results indicate a noticeable decrease of surface under-coordinated Pb ions content, leading to surface re-healing and photoluminescence quantum yields increasing. The unique emission recovery could reveal the details of CsPbBr 3 quantum dot surface variety and facilitate the development of perovskite quantum dot display devices.

CsPbBr 3 nanoplatelets (NPLs) have been considered as a promising candidate in the field of blue-emitting because of large exciton binding energies, thickness-tunable emission and excellent charge-transfer properties. In this paper, the effect of ligand concentration, solvent polarity, and ligand hydrocarbon chain on the photoluminescence (PL) and morphology properties of NPLs were studied. The PL properties of the NPLs depended strongly on the thickness which was controlled by ligands. The thickness of NPLs increased with increasing the amount of oleylamine. In contrast, the addition amount of oleic acid did not affect the PL properties of the NPLs. In addition, the thickness of NPLs becomes thinner with shortening carbon chain. Furthermore, the polarity of solvent ( n -hexane instead of toluene) played an important role in the thickness of NPLs. The higher polarity of toluene induces the preparation of thicker NPLs. These results contribute to the further study of the formation mechanism of perovskite NPLs and promote the application of NPLs in the field of optoelectronic devices.
