Cobalt diselenide (CoSe2) is considered to be a promising economical and efficient electrocatalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were employed as a conductive skeleton to optimize the electrocatalytic performance of CoSe2 through a simple one-step hydrothermal method. Beyond the expected, the introduction of CNTs not only accelerates electron transportation and ion diffusion, but also improves the reaction kinetics for HER by forming a CoSe2/CNT heterointerface. Consequently, the CoSe2/CNTs composite exhibits an optimal overpotential of 153 mV with a weight ratio of 10 : 1, and sustains a long period of 48 hours with an negligible overpotential deterioration. In addition, a Faraday efficiency of 97.67% is achieved with a H2/O2 molar ratio of 2 : 1. Therefore, these results open up further opportunities for yielding efficient and durable hydrogen evolving electrocatalysts from low-cost transition metal compounds.

This paper introduces a new grinding wheel which lubricates the grinding area directly. This is achieved by filling a resin grinding wheel with nano-capsules comprised of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and di-n-butyl phosphite (T304) (CNTs@T304). The CNTs@T304 nano-capsules filled grinding wheel reduces the grinding force, lowers the grinding temperature, and improves the workpiece surface quality. The T304 lubricant is first filled into the CNT cavity to prepare nano-capsules, which exhibit better friction and wear quality than CNTs. Then the paper analyzes the configuration of the nano-capsules in the grinding wheel, together with the investigation of how the filling content impacts the mechanical properties. Additionally, the effects of nano-capsule filling content and grinding parameters on grinding force, grinding temperature, grinding ratio, as well as workpiece surface roughness are studied and the self-lubricating mechanism of the nano-capsules is assessed. According to the experimental results, nano-capsules maintain stable under thermal condition and resist the curing temperature. Moreover, the tensile strength and hardness exhibited by the grinding wheel still meet the application requirements at a filling content <16 wt%. Compared with the grinding wheel without fillers, the nano-capsule filled wheel exhibits superior grinding performance, with a 33 % reduction in the grinding force. Also, the grinding temperature is 28 % lower, there is a 30 % improvement in the grinding ratio, and the workpiece surface quality increases by 35 % under the same conditions. The T304 in the nano-capsules is continually released onto the grinding interface with the wear of the wheel in the grinding process, which forms a self-lubricating layer along with the friction products of the CNTs. This exerts an outstanding anti-friction and anti-wear effect, thereby improving the grinding performance.

To address the issues of insufficient structural stability, poor durability and performance degradation in conventional photothermal anti-icing coatings, a laser etching–electrodeposition synergistic strategy was proposed to fabricate an Al-Myristate@CNTs superhydrophobic photothermal anti-icing coating. First, microporous array structures were constructed on the aluminum substrate surface via laser etching to enhance interfacial mechanical interlocking and provide stable structural support. Subsequently, carbon nanotubes were uniformly incorporated into the micro/nano hierarchical structures through electrochemical deposition, enabling synergistic enhancement of surface wettability, photothermal performance and structural stability. The effects of hydrochloric acid etching conditions, laser scanning speed and carbon nanotubes content on the surface morphology, wettability and multifunctional performance of the coating were systematically investigated. The results demonstrated that the optimized coating exhibited excellent comprehensive performance, with a water contact angle of 157.6° and an abrasion resistance distance of up to 1000 cm, indicating outstanding superhydrophobic stability and mechanical durability. Under 1 sun irradiation, the surface temperature of the coating rapidly increased to 51.6 °C, demonstrating its efficient photothermal conversion capability. Moreover, in a −15 °C environment, the coating achieved an icing delay time of 438 s and reduced the deicing time to 352 s, indicating remarkable anti-icing and photothermal deicing performance. Mechanistic analysis revealed that the incorporation of an appropriate amount of carbon nanotubes facilitated the formation of a uniform and stable hierarchical micro/nanostructure, which enhanced air-pocket stability, solar absorption, and structural integrity, thereby synergistically improving the superhydrophobicity, photothermal performance and long-term durability of the coating. This work provides a novel strategy for the design and fabrication of highly stable multifunctional photothermal anti-icing coatings and offers important guidance for their potential applications in aerospace, energy infrastructure, and transportation systems. Background: Cardiac sympathetic hyperactivation of the left stellate ganglion (LSG) critically promotes ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) following myocardial infarction (MI). Although neuromodulatory strategies targeting sympathetic activity have shown therapeutic potential, current strategies are limited by invasiveness, incomplete targeting and transient efficacy. Therefore, safe and precise approaches for modulating LSG activity are needed. This study aimed to investigate the enhanced neuromodulatory effects of phospholipid-coated carbon nanotubes (PC-CNTs) combined with near-infrared (NIR) photothermal therapy on the LSG for preventing post-MI VAs.Methods: PC-CNTs were synthesized and characterized, followed by evaluation of their photothermal properties and in vitro/in vivo biocompatibility. In a canine MI model induced by left anterior descending artery occlusion (n = 18), animals were randomly assigned to PBS, PC-CNTs and PC-CNTs + NIR groups. PBS or PC-CNTs (30 μg mL− 1, 0.1 mL) were locally microinjected into the LSG, and animals in the PC-CNTs + NIR group subsequently received 808 nm NIR laser irradiation (1.0 W cm− 2 for 5 min). LSG neural activity, heart rate variability (HRV), ventricular effective refractory period (ERP) and VA incidence were assessed. Transcriptomic profiling of LSG tissue and molecular analysis of peri-ganglionic adipose tissue were performed to evaluate therapeutic effects and potential mechanisms. Results: PC-CNTs exhibited excellent photothermal conversion efficiency and favorable biocompatibility. In vivo, PC-CNTs treatment suppressed MI-induced LSG hyperactivity, improved cardiac autonomic balance, enhanced ventricular electrophysiological stability and reduced VA susceptibility compared with the PBS group. The addition of NIR photothermal therapy further enhanced these protective effects, resulting in further suppression of sympathetic activation and reduction of post-MI arrhythmias. Molecular analyses suggested that combined PC-CNTs and NIR treatment modulated the LSG microenvironment, as evidenced by reduced expression of inflammation-related genes (CXCL14, CSF3, TIMP1 and CRLF1), indicating attenuation of neuroinflammatory signaling. Additionally, NIR-induced local hyperthermia was associated with thermogenic browning of peri-ganglionic white adipose tissue, characterized by increased expression of thermogenic markers and reduced adipocyte size. These changes may contribute to reduced sympathetic hyperactivity and decreased arrhythmia susceptibility. Conclusion: The combination of PC-CNTs and NIR photothermal therapy provides enhanced anti-arrhythmic effects associated with suppression of LSG hyperactivity and modulation of neuroinflammatory signaling and peri-ganglionic adipose browning, representing a promising preclinical strategy for preventing VAs.

Gas sensors integrated with intelligent systems are of great importance for real-time environmental monitoring and personal exposure assessment. In particular, nitrogen dioxide (NO 2 ), a toxic byproduct of combustion and industrial processes, poses severe risks to human health even at trace levels, highlighting the urgent need for sensitive and portable monitoring technologies. Here, we present a tungsten trioxide (WO 3 )/carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-based flexible sensor coupled with an Integrated Intelligent Sensing System (IISS) capable of on-site NO 2 detection, signal processing, and wireless mobile display. The optimized WO 3 /CNTs sensor exhibits outstanding sensing performance, delivering a high response of 425.1 % toward 1 ppm NO 2 . Distinctively, by integrating the sensor into the IISS platform, real-time NO 2 concentrations can be acquired, processed, and displayed on a mobile device, enabling direct and user-friendly exposure monitoring. These results highlight the novelty of combining a high-performance WO 3 /CNTs sensor with a miniaturized IISS, offering a practical strategy for intelligent, wearable, and portable gas detection applications.

Elastic conductive yarn, with its soft, stretchable, conformable, and weavable properties, is an ideal material for wearable strain sensors. However, conventional rigid conductive coatings often exhibit poor interfacial bonding with highly stretchable polymer matrices, resulting in limited stretchability, unstable conductivity, and poor durability. Based on this, a microwave-assisted anchored porous CNTs/TPU yarn was proposed as a highly sensitive and durable stretchable sensor. The yarns with microcrack structures were fabricated using simple and scalable wet spinning and pre-stretching techniques, followed by microwave-assisted embedding or anchoring of CNTs onto the TPU yarn surface to enhance sensor durability and usability. The sensor exhibits exceptional performance, including a broad detection range (0–200 %), high sensitivity (gauge factor up to 1370.84), rapid response/recovery times (250 ms/260 ms), and reliable human motion signal monitoring. Importantly, the microwave-anchored yarn shows reliable stability over 15,000 cycles, with durability at least 10 times greater than unanchored yarn. Furthermore, the yarn exhibits excellent water resistance (withstanding 20 washes), making it suitable for underwater electronic applications. The proposed fabrication strategy combines simplicity, scalability, and cost-effectiveness, presenting a viable pathway for manufacturing next-generation durable smart textiles for wearable sensing, soft robotics, and aquatic electronic systems.

Ice on the surface of wind turbine blades may result in power production losses and unsafe operations. An effective technological solution to the ice issue is coating de-icing. This study first constructed SiO 2 aerogel/CNTs (carbon nanotube) coating with photothermal de-icing by incorporating photothermal nanoparticles into the created nanoporous structure. The coating structure examined by SEM and EDS analysis demonstrates that CNT particles can be well captured by the three-dimensional nanostructure of SiO 2 aerogel and form a stable symbiotic skeleton. After that, we examined how the quantity of CNT doping affected the coating's surface morphology and photothermal properties. The findings demonstrated that the C-6 coating made from 0.6% CNTs performed best. Utilizing the photothermal effect of CNTs, it exhibited a steady rate of temperature increase and reached the target temperature of 153.4°C in 561 s upon near-infrared light (808 nm) irradiation. According to the results of experiments testing the photothermal performance, mechanical/chemical stability, and applicability of the coating, the coating has the advantages of being lightweight, provides quick de-icing, high stability, and simple production. This study not only increases the viability of using coating de-icing technology on wind turbine blades but also offers creative solutions to scientific investigation in the area of coating de-icing.

Although carbon nanomaterials have been widely used as effective nanofillers for fabrication of mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) with outstanding performances, the reproducibility of the fabricated MMMs is still hindered by the non-homogenous dispersion of these carbon nanofillers in membrane substrate. Herein, we report an effective way to improve the compatibility of carbon-based nanomaterials with membrane matrixes. By chemically conjugating the oxidized CNTs (o-CNTs) and GO using hexanediamine as cross-linker, a novel carbon nanohybrid material (G-CNTs) was synthesized, which inherited both the advanced properties of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene oxide (GO). The G-CNTs incorporated polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) MMMs (GCNTs/PVDF) were fabricated via a non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) method. The filtration and antifouling performances of G-CNTs/PVDF were evaluated using distillate water and a 1 g/L bovine serum albumin (BSA) aqueous solution under 0.10 MPa. Compared to the MMMs prepared with o-CNTs, GO, the physical mixture of o-CNTs and GO and pure PVDF membrane, the G-CNTs/PVDF membrane exhibited the highest water flux up to 220 L/m 2 /h and a flux recovery ratio as high as 90%, as well as the best BSA rejection rate. The excellent performances should be attributed to the increased membrane pore size, porosity and hydrophilicity of the resulted membrane. The successful synthesis of the novel nanohybrid G-CNTs provides a new type of nanofillers for MMMs fabrication.

Multi-wall carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were modified by nano-TiC using a pressureless spark plasma sintering technology. The TiC-modified CNTs (T-CNTs) were added to mesocarbon microbeads (MCMBs) to prepare high performance isostatically pressed graphite materials. The structures of the T-CNTs and the prepared isotropic graphite materials were characterized by XRD, SEM and TEM. The mechanical and thermal properties of isotropic graphite reinforced by T-CNTs were measured by a micro-controlled electronic universal testing machine, laser thermal conductivity meter and thermal expansion coefficient meter. Results showed that the nano-TiC was successfully grown on the surface of CNTs. Compared with the isotropic graphite prepared from MCMBs without T-CNTs, the isotropic graphite with T-CNTs has a significant improvement in physical properties (density, open porosity and volume shrinkage). Its flexural strength and degree of graphitization increased by 70% and 10%, respectively, and the thermal properties were also improved to some degree.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) materials and their derivatives have been widely used in the area of clean energy. When appropriate MOFs are selected for pyrolysis under suitable conditions, MO/C composites containing metal oxides (MO) and carbon layer can be obtained, and the skeletal structure of MOFs can also be maintained. In this contribution, porous double MOFs composites wrapped by carbon nanotubes (MIL-125/ZIF-8@CNTs) has been synthesized. After pyrolysis, the MIL-125 is transformed into TiO 2 /C, the ZIF-8 is converted into ZnO/C, multi-walled carbon nanotubes were wrapping on the surface of TiO 2 /ZnO/C, and finally formation of porous TiO 2 /ZnO/C@CNTs composites. Multi-walls CNTs could improve the electrical conductivity of the composites and increase the structural stability of the architectures, alleviating the volume expansion of materials during the charging/discharging process. The synthesized porous TiO 2 /ZnO/C@CNTs exhibits high specific capacity (the capacity is 816.8 mAhg −1 at the current density of 100 mAg −1 after 100 cycles) and excellent rate performance. Even at the high current density of 2 A g −1 after 300 cycles, the capacity still could reach up to 800 mA h g −1 .

This paper investigated the hybridization use of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with nano-SiO2 in cement composites. The (CNTs)/SiO2 composite fillers were designed and prepared by electrostatic self-assembly technology to reinforce cement composites. The mechanical properties, microstructure and hydration characteristics of cement composites incorporating CNTs/SiO2 fillers were systematically researched. The morphology and optical microscopy results show that the CNTs inside CNTs/SiO2 fillers tended to unwind due to the mechanical separation and steric hindrance of nano-SiO2 particles with certain size, and its agglomeration degree in the suspension greatly alleviated over time. With the appropriate incorporation of CNTs/SiO2 fillers (containing 0.10 wt% CNTs and 0.50 wt% nano-SiO2), the flexural strength, compressive strength and flexural toughness of the cement mortar matrix were sharply increased by 33.5%, 36.5% and 56.0% after curing for 28 days compared to the plain sample, respectively. Microscopic observations show that appropriate nano-additives can densify and refine the hydrated microstructure, and the crack-bridging, debonding and pull-out behaviors of CNTs were all observed. Hydration analysis quantitatively reveals that CNTs/SiO2 fillers significantly accelerated the cement hydration process by virtue of the nano-nucleating action. The reinforcing mechanisms of CNTs/SiO2 fillers can be attributed to the proposed synergistic effects of CNTs/SiO2 fillers, which mainly include the better dispersion stability of CNTs, the nucleating effect of nano-additives and the pozzolanic reaction by nano-SiO2, thus positively leading to increased mechanical properties.

The increasingly complex situation of the water environment has put forward higher requirements for the development of functional materials for comprehensive water environmental management. Here, a facile microwave self-assembly strategy was proposed to construct a tandem copper oxide/carbon nanotube (CuO/CNTs) composite. The characterization of the structure shows that the CNTs have been associated with porous CuO nanospheres , forming an interpenetrating architecture. We identified generated reactive oxygen species including sulfate radicals (SO 4 − ), hydroxyl radicals ( OH), singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ), and superoxide radical (O 2 − ), which can rapidly improve the degradation of tetracycline (TC). Compared with individual CuO microspheres or CNTs, the reaction rate of TC on the CuO/CNTs is improved 1.9 and 6.5 times, respectively. In addition, we confirmed that the reactive oxygen species produced had an effectively inhibitory effect on common types of bacteria. Density functional theoretical (DFT) calculations show that the adsorption energy of PMS on the opposite side of graphene is favorable (−0.517 eV). The CuO/CNTs catalysts with excellent intrinsic properties suggest its wide potential applications in wastewater treatment .
