Plentiful heteroatom-containing zeolites as versatile redox catalysts have been successfully post-synthesized via the top-down methodology, where the starting aluminosilicate zeolites are normally expected to be highly dealuminated to maximize the amounts of silanol nests and occasionally to evade the detrimental effect of framework Al ions on the catalytic performance. Herein, our proposed dealumination-controlled strategy for the synthesis of hierarchical Ti–Y zeolite breaks through this concept. Framework-substituted Ti and tri-coordinated Al species were afforded from the interaction of Ti ions with dealumination-derived silanol nests and from the process of acid treatment, respectively. Structure–function relationships revealed that Lewis acid sites were the catalytically active centres of Ti–Y zeolite in oxidative desulfurization with hydrogen peroxide as the oxidant, which came from the cooperative effect of dual active sites containing framework-substituted Ti and tri-coordinated Al species. The amounts of Lewis acid sites demonstrated a volcanic-type trend as the acid-treatment time increases. The reusability, regeneration ability, deactivation mechanism were also systematically investigated in oxidative desulfurization. Thus the Ti–Y zeolite catalyst was also effective for Baeyer–Villiger oxidation of 2-adamantanone. This work discloses the effectiveness of preparing an efficient Ti–Y zeolite catalyst with cooperative dual active sites via a dealumination-controlled strategy, which bears potential application for constructing other heteroatom-containing FAU-type zeolites with Lewis acid property.

Immunoglobulin Y (IgY) proves advantageous to IgG in prophylaxis and diagnosis. Quantification of IgY is therefore becoming a topic of interest. Here, we demonstrate a piezoelectric biosensor with carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCS) as the immobilization matrix. Gelation and hydrophilic nature of CMCS are favored to form a crosslinked matrix for antibody immobilization, and a comparison was made between carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and CMCS to investigate the benefits of such substitution. Calibration from 500 ng/mL to 200 μg/mL was established in buffer with the detection limit (LOD) down to 270 ng/mL, confirming its feasibility. As-prepared biosensor effectively prevents non-specific binding of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and lysozyme . Each real-time assay took 15 min including sensor regeneration, which can be further reduced to 4 min for signal readout only, ready for both repeated measurements after regeneration and disposable devices. Thus, as-prepared biosensor offers a rapid, label-free and cost-effective approach for IgY quantification.

The g-C3N4/Y-TiO2 Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts were successfully synthesized. Powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were used for characterization. The photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared samples was investigated via the degradation efficiency of rhodamine B (RhB) under visible-light irradiation, and 20 mg L−1 RhB was completely degraded in 90 min. The results showed that the photocatalytic degradation of RhB conformed to pseudo-first-order kinetic fitting, and the kinetic constants of g-C3N4/Y-TiO2 were 4.27 times higher than those of g-C3N4/TiO2 and 14.18 times higher than those of Y-TiO2, respectively. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of g-C3N4/Y-TiO2 was due to the formation of a Z-scheme heterojunction by Y at the g-C3N4/TiO2 interface. Formation of the Z-scheme heterojunction resulted in the suppression of photo-generated electron–hole pair recombination and the increase of their lifetimes, which was demonstrated by the transient photocurrent response, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and the time-resolved photoluminescence spectra. The superoxide radical and photo-generated holes played a dominant role in the photocatalytic degradation process of RhB by g-C3N4/Y-TiO2.

Developing effective iron-incorporated zeolites and determining their active centers for the direct oxidation of CH 4 to oxygenates have remained challenging topics so far. In this paper, we successfully prepare the highly-dispersed iron supported Y zeolites by a facile solid-state ion-exchange method with ferrocene, which was conducted under water-free conditions followed by a series of calcination . Moreover, extra-framework dinuclear Fe 2 + complexes are identified as so-called active α-iron sites on zeolites. ICP-OES, N 2 adsorption–desorption test, X-ray diffraction, solid-state 27 Al NMR, N 2 O titration, TEM, EPR and 57 Fe Mössbauer spectra were carried out to characterize properties of sample structure, acid sites, as well as the supported iron species. Characterization results indicate that high-temperature treatments have no effect on the typical structure feature of zeolites. Compared with catalysts synthesized by conventional impregnation, the samples prepared by the facile approach possess abundant dinuclear Fe 2 + complexes but no Fe 2 O 3 bulks and show weak acidity. These lead to a higher oxygenate selectivity in CH 4 oxidation to oxygenates. Remarkably, the oxygenate (HCHO and CH 3 OH) selectivity of 6.5% at 375°C can be eventually obtained.

Four new Y-shaped miktoarm amphiphilic copolymers were synthesized by ring-opening polymerization (ROP) and click chemistry. The structure of these copolymers was determined by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). The stereocomplexes were prepared by an evaporation method and confirmed by FT-IR, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Further the aggregation behaviors of these synthesized polymers and their stereocomplexes were studied by fluorescence spectroscopy (PL), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and light scattering (LS). Their critical micelle concentrations (CMC) obtained by PL were 0.005 mg mL−1 for MPEG1.9k–(scPLA4.5k)2 and 0.039 mg mL−1 for MPEG5k–(scPLA4.5k)2. The aggregation morphologies of homochiral copolymers were worm-like aggregates, while for the stereocomplexes, the spherical micelles were visually observed. The biocompatibility of these copolymers and their stereocomplexes was evaluated with relatively lower cytotoxicity. Finally, the release of doxorubicin (DOX) encapsulated into the micelles in buffer at pH 5.4 was faster than that at pH 7.4. This study demonstrates that the DOX-loaded stereocomplex micelles could be a potential carrier for cancer treatments.

The efficient and rapid detection of triethylamine (TEA) is crucial in the field of gas sensors. Sensors fabricated using doped ternary metal oxides demonstrate high response, good stability, excellent gas selectivity, and reproducibility. In this study, NiFe 2 O 4 nanofibers doped with different concentrations of Yttrium (Y/Ni = 0 at%, 1.5 at%, 2.5 at%, 3.5 at% and 4.5 at%) were synthesized via electrospinning, and gas sensors fabricated from these materials were systematically analyzed for their gas-sensing performances. The results indicated that the gas-sensing properties of Y-doped NiFe 2 O 4 nanofibers were improved. Gas sensors based on Yttrium-doped NiFe 2 O 4 nanofibers with a Y/Ni ratio of 2.5 % (referred to as 2.5 % Y-NFO) exhibited the best performance, exhibiting a gas response of 39.3 for the detection of triethylamine at a concentration of 100 ppm at 125 °C. This response was about 3.1 times higher than pure NiFe 2 O 4 nanofibers. Additionally, the response time of 2.5 % Y-NFO is only 2 s, which is much faster than other reported TEA sensors. In addition, these gas sensors exhibit excellent repeatability, selectivity, and humidity resistance. Finally, the underlying mechanism responsible for the enhanced gas-sensing properties is comprehensively discussed. This study presents a simple, stable, and effective route for synthesizing Y-NiFe 2 O 4 nanofibers, thereby achieving excellent sensing performance for TEA detection.

Pyrolysis as one of the most utilizations of biomass has aroused the increasing attention, however, the key is to upgrade biomass pyrolysis volatiles and enrich the high-valued chemicals in bio-oil. In this paper, different metal oxide-modified Y zeolites, including Fe/Y, Co/Y, Ni/Y, Mg/Y and Zn/Y, were prepared by wet impregnation and employed in catalytic upgrading of pyrolytic volatiles from rice straw (RS) and poplar sawdust (PS). Results showed that the modification by metal oxides led to the decrease of surface area and the changes in the acidity of zeolites. Higher yields of gas and water were obtained over metal oxide-modified zeolites at the expense of the bio-oil yields. More strong acid sites of the Ni/Y and Zn/Y catalysts promoted the generation of H 2 . Fe/Y catalyst showed good selectivity to aromatics in bio-oil owing to high mesoporous volume and strong deoxidization capacity. The highest aromatic hydrocarbons content (63.0%) was obtained over Fe/Y in RS bio-oil. The formation of phenol and cresol was promoted with increasing the ratio of Lewis/Brönsted acid. Under the action of Ni/Y with the highest Lewis/Brönsted ratio, the phenol content in bio-oil from RS and PS pyrolysis was enhanced to 11.8% and 25.3%, respectively. The Fe/Y catalyst had good upgrading performance during three reaction-regeneration cycles. In addition, the possible reaction mechanism of biomass pyrolysis volatiles over metal oxide-modified Y zeolites was proposed. This work will provide a guide for the composition regulation of bio-oil from biomass pyrolysis.

As the promising candidates for hot section components used in gas turbines , SiC f /SiC composites suffer severe gas steam/melt corrosion, so their long-term stability depends on the surficial environmental barrier coatings . Here, we provide an alternative method to construct the protective structure by thermal diffusion . Firstly, Y-Al diffusants is diffused into the SiC substrate, forming a Y-Al diffusion layer . Then the diffusion layer can transform to a corrosion-resistant Y(Al)Si x O y layer after oxidative treatment. The compositions and morphologies of the as-received diffusion layer and the Y(Al)Si x O y layer were contrasted. Results show that a Y(Al)Si x O y protective layer, which thickens with the extension of oxidative treatment time and the increase of Y/Al ratio, can be formed on the SiC surface. Concentration gradient caused by preferential oxidation of Y-Al prompts the Y-Al diffusing towards surface. Meanwhile, the oxidation of Y-Al makes the Y(Al)Si x O y layer denser and thicker, and finally form the Y(Al)Si x O y protective layer.

In this paper, in order to improve the mechanical properties of high-entropy fluorite oxides (HEFOs), five equimolar multicomponent oxides were synthesized by solid-phase reaction method by using element Y replacing one of the five cations in (Ce 0.2 Zr 0.2 La 0.2 Sm 0.2 Nd 0.2 )O 2- δ . The substitution of La, Sm or Nd in (Ce 0.2 Zr 0.2 La 0.2 Sm 0.2 Nd 0.2 )O 2- δ with Y element are able to form single-phase HEFOs at 1600 °C, while Ce 4+ and Zr 4+ replaced by Y 3+ contains a large number of secondary phase. The former three components are almost dense and smooth, and all the elements are uniformly distributed with no obvious segregation and agglomeration. The Ce 3+ concentration of Y-substituted Sm HEFOs is calculated to be 13.7%, yielding a nominal composition of (Ce 0.2 Zr 0.2 Y 0.2 Sm 0.2 Nd 0.2 )O 1.6863 . In addition, the HEFOs have the best mechanical properties with Vickers hardnesses, flexural strengths and fracture toughnesses of 15.12 GPa, 101.1 MPa and 7.88 MPa-mm 1/2 , respectively, which have potential applications in high-performance structural materials.

This study systematically investigates the influence of preparation temperature on microstructure and generation mechanism of Si–Y–B-Yb ceramics as anti-corrosion matrix. Main phases of Si–Y–B-Yb ceramics are Y/YbB 4 , YSi 2 , and Si, where Y/YbB 4 is derived from the reaction between YSi 2 and YbB 6 . With increase in preparation temperature, open porosity of Si–Y–B-Yb ceramics gradually decreases, reaching 0.24 % at 1350 °C, and internal phases transform from a dispersed distribution to clearly defined boundary state. Based on this, high-temperature water-oxygen corrosion behavior of Si–Y–B-Yb ceramics is characterized in 50 vol% H 2 O+50 vol% O 2 environment at 1250 °C for 100 h. In this corrosive environment, silicate phase appears on the surface of Si–Y–B-Yb ceramics. With prolonged corrosion time, silicate phase gradually forms more complete protective layer, hindering further corrosion by water-oxygen environment. These results demonstrate the feasibility of proposed Si–Y–B-Yb materials for corrosion protection.

Ultra-deep desulfurization for the generation of clean petrol, diesel, and benzene remains a significant and challenging goal globally. Cu-containing materials have emerged as a promising desulfurization strategy due to their high adsorption capabilities. However, existing reduction technologies often lead to over-reduction. In this study, we reveal an intriguing and unexpected property of Y zeolite following ammonium ion exchange. The in situ generation of ammonia from ammonia pools may alter the location of copper species and modify their acid characteristics. We encapsulated various amounts of Cu into CuY zeolite, labelled as H-Cu X -Y(APE), using a facile self-reduction strategy. Notably, H-Cu 5.71 -Y(APE) exhibits an exceptional breakthrough sulfur capacity for thiophene, achieving 4.17 mg/g, nearly double that of traditional Cu-HY(H 2 ). XPS analysis following APE reduction indicates a high proportion of Cu + species in H-Cu 5.71 -Y(APE). In situ calcination FT-IR provided detailed insights into the chemical transformation of Cu 2+ species during APE reduction. Furthermore, CO-FTIR analysis shows that the Cu + content in the supercages of H-Cu 5.71 -Y(APE) reaches a maximum of 62.3 %. Py-FT-IR reveals the strong Brønsted acid content in H-Cu X -Y(APE) significantly increases. The desulfurization mechanism of H-Cu X -Y(APE) was thoroughly investigated using in situ FT-IR, demonstrating that the protonation and copolymerization of thiophene occurred on HCuY(APE) and could be effectively suppressed by adjusting the amount of copper. This work presents a promising solution for efficient ultra-deep desulfurization using an in situ NH 3 reduction method from ammonia pools.

Many studies have been conducted on the microbial reduction of Pd (II) to palladium nanoparticles (Pd-NPs) due to the environmental friendliness, low cost, and the decreased toxicity of Pd (II) ions. In this study, we investigate the reduction mechanism of Pd (II) byBacillus megateriumY-4 through proteomics. The data are available via ProteomeXchange with identifier PXD049711. Our results revealed thatB. megateriumY-4 may use the endogenous electron donor (NAD(P)H) generated by nirB, tdh, and fabG and reductase to reduce Pd (II) to Pd-NPs. The expression levels of fabG, tdh, gudB, and rocG that generate NAD(P)H were further increased, and the number of reduced Pd-NPs was further increased with the exogenous electron donor sodium formate. Endogenous electron mediators such as quinones and flavins inB. megateriumY-4 can further enhance Pd (II) reduction. The findings provided invaluable information regarding the reduction mechanism of Pd (II) byB. megateriumY-4 at the proteome level.
