Rational design of surface plasmon-enhanced electrocatalysts can effectively integrate solar energy into fuel cells. Herein, iron and nitrogen codoped carbon (Fe/NC) nanoparticles synthesized with microemulsion are used to absorb and photo-reduce Ag ions in solutions to form Ag nanoparticles on Fe/NC (Ag-Fe/NC). Different Ag-Fe/NC materials are prepared by adjusting the concentration of AgNO3 solution. Among them, Ag-Fe/NC obtained with 0.5 mg ml−1 AgNO3 solution shows the highest oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalytic performance and light-enhanced ORR characteristics, even better than commercial Pt/C. Besides, Ag-Fe/NC displays excellent long-term stability and high methanol resistance for ORR performances in alkaline medium. Therefore, this study will provide a new method for integrating light to recover Ag ions in solutions and improve electrocatalytic properties.

The catalytic hydrogen transfer (CHT) cascade reaction between alcohols and nitro- compounds meets green chemistry yet involves high catalyst requirements. Herein, a hierarchical nano-pyramid structure, in which cobalt single atoms (Co SAs) are deposited on highly dispersed ZnO nanoparticles supported by nitrogen-doped carbon (denoted as Co-ZnO/NC), was designed and obtained through pyrolysis of ZnCo-ZIF. The catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic performance toward the CHT cascade reaction, achieving a high nitrobenzene conversion (94 %), imine selectivity (97 %), and turnover frequency (8.8 h −1 ). This nano-pyramid is a state-of-the-art non-noble-metal catalyst and is comparable to noble-metal catalysts. Experimental and DFT results revealed that the Co SAs supported on ZnO reduced the reaction energy barrier of hydroxyl dehydrogenation, the first and rate-determining step in this heterogeneous catalysis. Furthermore, Co-ZnO/NC exhibits good recyclability and universality. Our findings offer a new catalyst for Schiff base synthesis and aid understanding of the roles of Zn in ZIF-derived carbon catalysts.

Bio-oil derived from the lignin with natural aromatic structures requires deoxygenation to serve as a petroleum fuel substitute. However, the traditional bio-oil hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) process encounters challenges such as the use of high-pressure H 2 , and precious metal catalysts. In this work, we investigated the effect of NiMn/NC catalyst on the in-situ HDO performance of guaiacol, a commonly used lignin oil model compound. The results indicate that 95.44% conversion of guaiacol and 81.89% deoxygenation products selectivity (cyclohexanol and cyclohexane) can be achieved at 150°C with a water/isopropanol system. During the HDO of real lignin oil, the upgraded oil product achieved a yield of 14.32 wt%, with a high H/C ratio (1.71%). Analysis of the mechanism suggests that the in-situ HDO reaction of substrate is synergistically promoted by the high surface area and weak acidic sites of the carbon support and nickel-oxygen vacancy interface. This work presents an advanced strategy for the in-situ HDO of bio-oil into bio-based liquid fuel by nickel-based catalysts.

Uniform DNTF/Al/NC energetic composite fibers with evenly dispersed components were prepared by electrospinning. • The interconnected fibrous framework accelerates the heat and mass transfer. • Electrospun fibers exhibit better combustion performance and safety performance. Although 3,4-dinitrofurazanfuroxan (DNTF) is a prominent high-energy explosive, its high mechanical sensitivity compromises its safety and limits the wide scale application in advanced solid propellants. To address this issue, DNTF/Al/Nitrocellulose (NC) energetic nanocomposite fibers with different NC contents were fabricated by electrospinning technology. The microstructure, morphological characteristics, and chemical composition were fully characterized by SEM, XRD, FT-IR, and XPS. SEM results confirm that the sample containing 40 wt % NC achieves uniform component dispersion and effectively reduces particle agglomeration, presenting the optimal morphological structure. The thermal decomposition behavior, combustion performance and mechanical sensitivity of the DNTF/Al/NC energetic nanocomposite fibers were systematically investigated in comparison with physically mixed composites. Benefiting from the continuous fibrous network structure, the DNTF/Al/NC energetic nanocomposite fibers exhibited accelerated heat and mass transfer kinetics, as evidenced by sharper exothermic peaks and intensified heat release behavior during thermal decomposition. Combustion tests demonstrate that the optimized composite delivers a shortened ignition delay time from 37.45 s to 31.80 s, and an elevated combustion temperature from 230.7 °C to 268.2 °C, realizing remarkably enhanced energy release efficiency. Moreover, the critical friction load increases from 216 N to 252 N and the impact sensitivity drop height increases from 35 cm to 45 cm, which verifies the significant reduction in mechanical sensitivity and prominent improvement in operational safety. In summary, the electrospun DNTF/Al/NC energetic nanocomposite fibers combine high energy release capacity with excellent safety performance. This facile structural modulation strategy offers a new approach to the rational design and controllable preparation of high performance energetic composite materials with balanced energy and safety. The catalytic conversion of concentrated glucose to mannose is of considerable interest due to the latter's therapeutic value, yet it is constrained by low catalytic efficiency. Herein, a Mo/NC-300 catalyst was constructed by introducing active Mo species into a nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) matrix via pyrolysis. The resulting catalyst demonstrated outstanding activity in the epimerization of high-concentration glucose (50 wt%) to mannose, achieving a high yield of 33.4 % and selectivity of 94.6 %, alongside an excellent productivity of 123.7 mmol·g cat −1 ·h −1 . Catalyst characterizations and density functional theory calculations revealed that the NC layer modulates the electronic structure of Mo species, shifting the d-band center upwards. This preferentially enhances glucose adsorption and lowers the epimerization energy barrier. Isotope labeling experiments further confirmed the reaction follows an intramolecular 1,2‑carbon shift mechanism. The catalyst also exhibited excellent stability and reusability, primarily attributed to the hydrophobicity imparted by the NC layer. This work not only provides a catalytic system that simultaneously overcomes the challenges of concentration, stability, and efficiency, but also offers insights into the role of electronic metal-support interaction in glucose epimerization.

Developing low-cost, highly active, and stable bifunctional electrocatalysts is a challenging issue in electrochemical water electrolysis . Herein, we develop a simple metal organic frameworks (MOFs) based approach to prepare bifunctional Co-NC@ Mo 2 C complex catalysts. Differently from traditional carbon encapsulated functional nanomaterials , herein the carbon-based framework derived carbonitride and Co nanoparticles (Co-NC) are encapsulated with Mo 2 C. Benefiting from the unique reverse-encapsulation structure and synergetic effects of Mo 2 C and Co-NC, the Co-NC@Mo 2 C catalyst shows superior hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance. In alkaline media , it affords the current density of 10 mA cm −2 at low overpotentials of 99 mV and 347 mV for HER and OER, respectively. Interestingly, due to a reversed encapsulation structure where Co nanoparticles are protected by Mo 2 C, it leads to an outstanding HER catalytic activity (a low overpotential of 143 mV) and stability in acidic solutions. Remarkably, when employed as both the cathode and anode for overall water splitting, a low cell voltage of 1.685 V is required to reach the current density of 10 mA cm −2 in alkaline media with excellent stability, making the Co-NC@Mo 2 C an efficient non noble metal bifunctional electrocatalyst toward water splitting.

Tuning the coordination environment between metal centers and organic ligands is a promising way to design of the precursors of electrocatalysts for water splitting or other renewable energy options. In this work, a novel coordinated polymer was prepared feasibly in polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) aqueous solution using aminotrimethylene phosphonic acid (ATMP, L 1 ) and 2-methylimidazole (MeMI, L 2 ) as ligands with the ratio of 2:5, Co 2+ and Zn 2+ as metal centers. Based on the concept of acid-base neutralization reaction, the proton-transfer induced “deprotonation and protonation” for L 1 and L 2 , respectively. Thus, the coordination was dominated by the deprotonated L 1 . Owing to also partial of protonated L 2 adsorbed as “counter ions”, carbonization of the obtained precursor at 800 °C under N 2 atmosphere endows the pyrolysis product with nitrogen-doped carbon supported metal pyrophosphate (M 2 P 2 O 7 @NC). Thus, the resulting M 2 P 2 O 7 @NC exhibits the enhanced and durable ORR and HER performance. For ORR in 0.1 M KOH, an enhanced onset potential (0.925 V vs. RHE), half wave potential (0.793 V vs. RHE) and diffusion limiting current (6.132 mA cm −2 ) can be obtained comparable to those of Pt/C. For HER in 0.5 M H 2 SO 4 , it only needs an over potential of 180 mV to realize a current density of 10 mA cm −2 .

CoNi@NC core-shell microspheres were synthesized via pyrolysis of Co-Ni PBA. • A temporal knowledge graph model was built to predict dynamic catalytic behavior. • CoNi@NC achieved 73.7% TCH removal efficiency within 3 min and 91.89% within 60 min. • TCH degradation involves radical/non-radical pathways dominated by O 2 •− and 1 O 2 . • The synergistic Co/Ni bimetallic redox cycles accelerate PMS activation. Prussian blue analogue (PBA)-derived carbon catalysts are promising peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activators for antibiotic wastewater purification, yet their time-dependent degradation behavior still requires further evaluation. Herein, a core-shell CoNi@NC catalyst was prepared by pyrolyzing Co Ni PBA, in which Co Ni alloy nanoparticles were confined within an N-doped carbon (NC) matrix. To evaluate the tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) degradation behavior, a temporal knowledge graph (TKG)-assisted framework was employed as a complementary prediction tool, predicting a shift of the CoNi@NC/PMS system toward high degradation efficiency intervals. In degradation experiments, the CoNi@NC/PMS system exhibited a rapid degradation trend consistent with the prediction, achieving 73.7% TCH removal within 3 min and 91.89% within 60 min. The catalyst retained 86.74% removal efficiency after four degradation cycles, and exhibited good matrix tolerance under different pH conditions and coexisting ions. Mechanistic analysis revealed that TCH degradation proceeded through a radical/non-radical synergistic pathway, in which Co/Ni redox cycles and interfacial electron transfer promoted PMS activation. The reaction products of TCH were identified, and the toxicity assessment indicated reduced phytotoxicity of the treated solution. This work provides a useful reference for developing efficient PBA-derived catalysts for PMS-based antibiotic wastewater purification. We used sodium hydroxide-mediated approach and tannic acid etching to prepare hollow structured trimetallic MOF-derived CoFeNi/Z-P NC nanocomposites. Remarkably, the resulting CoFeNi/Z-P NC nanocomposites have large specific surface area and mesoporous structure, making their active sites more accessible and mass transfer more effective. More complex trimetallic components provide greater possibilities for further improving electrocatalytic performance. The CoFeNi/Z-P NC nanocomposites demonstrate notable enhancements for the OER, and 10 mA cm−2 current density is achieved at a low overpotential of 244 mV, with a low Tafel slope of 66.2 mV dec−1 and have good stability in alkaline solutions. In addition, as a cathode material for overall alkaline water splitting, CoFeNi/Z-P NC is better than RuO2 with longer cycling stability.

Although SiO/G (G denotes graphite) products are commercially available in nowadays, their scalable applications in Li-ion batteries are still limited by their poor stability and high cost. Herein, niobium oxide (Nb 2 O 5 ) with open tunnel structure is composited with SiO in combination with N-doped carbon (NC) coating, which have jointly enhanced the rate and cycle performance of the resulting SiO@Nb 2 O 5 @NC composite anodes. Under optimum conditions, a capacity retention of 74% is preserved after 200 cycles at 0.2 A g −1 , together with a high capacity of 666 mA h g −1 at 3 A g −1 . Ex situ XRD analysis reveals that Nb 2 O 5 is transformed to amorphous Li x Nb 2 O 5 and electrochemical-inert NbO in the first lithiation process. The former exhibits fast Li + migration rate and capacitive Li ion storage behavior, which may help to improve the electrochemical performance of SiO. Further mixing the SiO@Nb 2 O 5 @NC composite with spent graphite extracted from used LiFePO 4 battery yields a high capacity and stable anode material that shows a high capacity retention of 79% after 500 cycles at 0.4 A g −1 . This work may shed a light on the development of stable yet low cost SiO/G anode materials through pre-modification of SiO with Nb 2 O 5 and utilization of cheap graphite resource.

Two-dimensional (2D) transition metal carbide MXene (Ti 3 C 2 T x ) exhibits great potential in electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorbing materials due to its abundant surface functional groups and defects, tunable conductivity and high specific surface area. The Co@NC/TiO 2 /C composites were successfully synthesized through a solvothermal method and carbonization process using Ti 3 C 2 T x /Co-BTC as precursor. The incorporation of magnetic metal Co nanoparticles and Rutile-TiO 2 effectively addresses the issue of single loss mechanism in Ti 3 C 2 T x . The results show that CTC-100 exhibits excellent EMW absorption performance with a minimum reflection loss (RL) value of −51.3 dB at a thickness of only 1.48 mm, and the corresponding effective absorption bandwidth is (EAB, RL < −10 dB) 4.3 GHz. Simultaneously, by adjusting the matching thickness of the material from 1.29 mm to 5.0 mm, the EAB can achieve 15.42 GHz (from 2.85 GHz to 18 GHz). The excellent EMW absorption performance of CTC-100 composite is primarily attributed to the synergistic effect of magnetic loss and dielectric loss. This study provided an effective strategy for the design of Ti 3 C 2 T x -based EMW absorbing materials with high absorption intensity, reduced thickness, and broad effective absorption bandwidth (EAB).

In this study, CoSe 2 /NC composites with stable dodecahedral structures were prepared by a simple one-step carbonization-selenization method using ZIF-67 as the precursor, and the effect of annealing time on their morphology and properties was investigated. SEM and TEM characterization results showed that the material with an annealing time of 1 h had the most stable framework structure and complete selenization. Under a three-electrode system with 2.0 M KOH as the electrolyte, CoSe 2 /NC-1 possesses a high capacity of 554.4F/g at 1 A/g and excellent cycling stability (92% capacity retention after 21,000 cycles). In addition, a flexible solid-state supercapacitor was assembled with CoSe 2 /NC-1 as the positive electrode and AC as the negative electrode. The power density was 800 W/Kg at 1 A/g, and the cycling stability was tested at 91.53% after 6000 cycles at 2 A/g. The flexible solid-state supercapacitors were tested for suppleness, and their voltage could still reach 1.6 V with stable specific capacity and light up LED bulbs when measured at 0°, 90° and 180°. Undoubtedly, the CoSe 2 /NC-1 material prepared in this study exhibits promising electrochemical characteristics, making it a viable candidate for implementation in flexible solid-state supercapacitors.
