Green pea hulls are a byproduct of the processing of green pea and are rich in phenolic substances. In the present study, in vitro digestion, human colonic adenocarcinoma cell line (Caco-2) monolayer, and the Caco-2/macrophage cell lines of the murine origin (Raw264.7) coculture model were established to investigate the release of polyphenols, absorption, and transport of digestive products and their effects on inflammation and intestinal barrier. During the digestive process, polyphenols were constantly released from the pea hulls, reaching the maximum amount in the small intestine (total phenolic content (TPC): 5.41 ± 0.04 mg gallic acid (GAE)/g dry weight (DW)), and the digestive products (800 μg/mL) could reduce the secretion of NO (50.9%), IL-6 (50.6%), and TNF-α (24.6%) and inhibit the mRNA expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) (37.2%) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) (91.1%) compared with the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) group. A total of 12 phenolic components were quantified by ultraperformance liquid chromatography-linear ion trap orbitrap tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-LTQ-OrbiTrap-MS) technology. Kaempferol trihexoside in digestive products could be absorbed and transported (1.25 ± 0.13 ng quercetin/mL). The digestive products could promote the expression of claudin-1 (210.8%), occludin (64.9%), and zonulin occludin-1 (ZO-1) (52.0%) compared with the LPS group and exert anti-inflammatory effects after being absorbed. The results indicated that pea hull polyphenols could be continuously released and absorbed to play a positive role in protecting the intestinal barrier and anti-inflammatory activity.

The parasitic Li dendrite formation and retarded ion diffusion dynamics inhibit the deployment of solid-state batteries (SSBs) at high areal capacity loadings. Here, we present the modular design of the Li + percolating network by grafting the ionic-conductive polyether amine (PEA) at the multiple scales: the PEA modified zinc hydroxystannate (PEA@ZHS) (flame retardant units) and polyamide 6 (mechanical rigid units) are coherently introduced to optimize the PEO-based solid electrolyte (PX-PEA@ZHS) with the Young's modulus (3.41 GPa), ionic conductivity (4.29 × 10 −4 S cm −1 at 55 °C) and flame retardancy (22% reduction of heat release rate); on the other hand, PEA molecules are grafted onto the acetylene black additive to establish the dual conductive network, endowing two orders of magnitude increase of ionic conductivity for the high-compaction cathodes. The as-integrated symmetric cell exhibits a critical current density up to 0.8 mA cm −2 and cycling endurance for 1000 h at 0.2 mA cm −2 ; upon the SSBs assembly with the record high loading of LiFePO 4 (12.4 mg cm −2 ), the high-areal-capacity, cycling stability as well as the extreme temperature endurance till 110 °C are simultaneously realized, which inspire the rational design of commercially feasible, energy-dense, flame-resistance energy storage prototype.
1-Octacosanol (Octa) is a natural compound with several beneficial properties. However, its poor water solubility and metabolism in the digestive tract reduce its efficacy. The Octa-GA-Malt-PPI microcapsule was prepared as follows: gum Arabic (GA):maltose (Malt):pea protein isolate (PPI) = 2:1:2; core:shell = 1:7.5; emulsification temperature 70 °C; pH 9.0. An in vitro simulated gastrointestinal tract was used to analyze the digestion behavior. C57BL/6 mice were selected to establish an obesity model induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) to evaluate the effect of Octa monomer and the microcapsule. The diffusivity in water and storage stability of Octa improved after encapsulation. The microcapsule was ascribed to electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonding, and hydrophobic interactions. The sustained release of Octa from the microcapsule was observed in a simulated gastrointestinal tract. Compared with Octa monomer, the microcapsule was more effective in alleviating the symptoms of weight gain, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia induced by HFD in mice. In conclusion, the construction of microcapsule structure can improve the dispersibility and stability of Octa in water, achieve sustained release of Octa in the gastrointestinal tract, and improve its efficiency in alleviating the effects of HFD on the body.Keywords:1-Octacosanol;microcapsule;storage stability;sustained release;HFD-induced obesity mice
