Vitamin E is an important fat soluble antioxidant, its acetate is the main derivative product of vitamin E. Using metal organic framework material ZIF-8 as a catalyst, vitamin E acetate (VEA) was prepared by catalyzing the esterification reaction of D-α-tocopherol and acetic anhydride in a solvent-free system. Firstly, the preparation conditions of metal organic framework materials were studied: different imidazole ligands, different zinc ion ligands, molar concentration ratio of Zn2+ to 2-methylimidazole(2-mIM), and preparation time. The results showed that the catalytic performance of ZIF-8 was optimal when Zn(CH3COO)2·2H2O was used as the zinc source, 2-mIM was used as the imidazole ligand, the molar concentration ratio of Zn2+ / 2-mIM was 1:20, and the preparation time was 1 hour. The yield of vitamin E acetate was 86.85%. The synthesis process of VEA was optimized by single factor experiments such as substrate molar ratio, reaction time, dosage of nano enzyme, reaction temperature and so on. The results showed that the yield of vitamin E acetate reached 96.31% under the optimal conditions of n (D-α-tocopherol) =1mmol, [n (D-α-tocopherol) : n (Acetic anhydride)] =1:15, reaction time 24 h, ZIF-8 dosage 0.05 g, reaction temperature 50 °C.

Loss of E-cadherin (ECAD) is required in tumor metastasis. Protein degradation of ECAD in response to oxidative stress is found in metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and is independent of transcriptional repression as usually known. Mechanistically, protein kinase A (PKA) senses oxidative stress by redox modification in its β catalytic subunit (PRKACB) at Cys200 and Cys344. The activation of PKA kinase activity subsequently induces RNF25 phosphorylation at Ser450 to initiate RNF25-catalyzed degradation of ECAD. Functionally, RNF25 repression induces ECAD protein expression and inhibits HCC metastasis in vitro and in vivo. Altogether, these results indicate that RNF25 is a critical regulator of ECAD protein turnover, and PKA is a necessary redox sensor to enable this process. This study provides some mechanistic insight into how oxidative stress-induced ECAD degradation promotes tumor metastasis of HCC.

Recovery of bioactive proteins from insoluble inclusion bodies (IB) is a critical challenge when purifying recombinant proteins expressed in E. coli . One practical solution is to enhance the renaturability or refolding capability of the target protein after the insoluble proteins are solubilized with denaturants such as urea. While some methods, such as using chemical additives and manipulating the physical environment, have been reported to assist in protein refolding, their effectiveness remains limited. This work evaluated the potential of a highly conserved domain found in five biotin-dependent carboxylases as a fusion tag for purifying IB proteins. We found that this tag, comprised of 67 amino acids (named P67) as eight anti-parallel β-sheets that collectively form a flattened barrel structure, significantly improved the refolding process of its IB protein partner. The yield of bioactive proteins fused with this tag recovered from the dialysis stage was markedly higher than untagged ones. We further proved that this effect relies on the structural integrity of the tag's spatial conformations. Under natural conditions, soluble proteins can be purified using the P67 tag via the biotin/streptavidin affinity system. In conclusion, this tag offers a promising methodology for purifying both insoluble and soluble recombinant proteins.

In glioma treatment, the poor penetration of therapeutic drugs through the blood–brain barrier (BBB) to the tumor region, along with the intrinsic resistance of glioma cells via multiple survival mechanisms, remain major challenges. Liposomes are a popular choice for glioma therapy due to their ability to help drugs penetrate the BBB. However, unmodified liposomes have drawbacks, such as poor stability, low drug entrapment efficacy, and rapid removal from circulation, leading to reduced drug absorption at the lesion sites. To address these issues, a novel F127-grafted vitamin E succinate (F127–VES) was designed to prepare multifunctional modified liposomes for delivery of harmine (HAR). Compared to conventional liposomes (Ordinary-Lip), F127–VES-Lip shows greater potential in enhancing the anti-glioma effect of HAR. This is attributed to several key features: Firstly, Pluronic can enhance the transport across the blood–brain barrier. Secondly, the presence of F127 in the formulation extends the circulation time of the drug in the bloodstream. Finally, the combination of F127 and VES in F127–VES-Lip can induce tumor cell apoptosis. In vitro and in vivo results confirmed that the F127–VES-Lip could significantly elevate cellular uptake, promote apoptosis and increase the antitumor effect for C6 glioma cells. The F127–VES-Lip is a promising nanoformulation to enhance the effect of HAR for glioma treatment.

Selective detection of phenolic compounds is imperative for environmental surveillance and public health safeguards. This study introduces a dual-electrode voltametric electronic tongue (e-tongue) leveraging transition metal oxide-nanoengineered laser-induced graphene (LIG) to resolve phenol and its cresol isomers (o-, m-, p-) despite overlapping electrochemical signals. Contrary to conventional single-electrode systems hindered by matrix-induced peak overlaps, our e-tongue employs a synergistic sensing arraying: MnO 2 /LIG and Bi 2 O 3 /LIG. These composites are fabricated via a one-step in situ laser doping process, ensuring uniform nanoparticle integration while mitigating distributional inhomogeneity and interfacial weaknesses associated with post-synthetic modifications. Both MnO 2 /LIG and Bi 2 O 3 /LIG exhibit augmented electroactive surface areas, conductivity, electron transport kinetics, hydrophilicity, and stability relative to pristine LIG. The dual-electrode system achieved robust differentiation of phenolics in buffered solutions, environmental water samples, and tobacco smoke matrices. This work pioneers a scalable nanoengineering strategy for multi-target analysis of structurally proximal pollutants, advancing point-of-need environmental monitoring technologies.

Multifunctional integrated flexible electronic skin (e-skin) is the essential medium for information exchange between humans and machines. Especially, the proximity/pressure/strain sensing has become a technological goal for various emerging wearable electronic devices, such as biomonitoring devices, smart electronics, augmented reality, and prosthetics. Herein, a stretchable hybrid electronic network-based e-skin is presented, fabricated by embedding 3D hollow MXene spheres/Ag NWs hybrid nanocomposite into PDMS, which can effectively avoid the electrode falling off due to stress concentration. This e-skin works in noncontact mode (proximity-negative capacitance) and contact mode (pressure-positive capacitance and strain-resistance) for multiplex detection of random external force stimuli without mutual interference. The macroscopic physical structure of stretchable electrodes and the microscopic hybrid three-dimensional conductive network jointly contribute to the good sensing performance of the device. This work provides an effective and universal strategy for the application of wearable intelligent electronic products that demand noncontact interaction and multimodal tactile perception.

Electronic skin (e-skin) that can perceive thermal and tactile stimuli with high resolution enables intelligent robots a realistic haptic sensation. These e-skins usually achieve spatial perception through an array arrangement of multiple sensors. However, the resolution of most e-skins is limited to centimeter level due to the structural complexity and manufacturing difficulty. Herein, we proposed a hydrogel e-skin that realizes high-resolution spatial mapping of temperature and pressure by constructing an electrode array-thermogalvanic hydrogel-electrode array sandwich structure. This hydrogel e-skin achieves temperature and pressure dual sensing through the thermogalvanic and piezoresistive effect of the redox couple in the horizontal and vertical direction, respectively. A reference electrode for temperature sensing is introduced in the horizontal direction so that the temperature shift of the bottom electrode under external thermal stimuli will no longer affect the accuracy of thermal perception. The reduction in hydrogel thickness effectively eliminates crosstalk between pixels and achieves millimeter-level spatial resolution of both temperature and pressure. The dexterous robot hand covered by our hydrogel e-skin shows the ability of distinguishing the contact object by perceiving the external temperature and pressure distribution. Our work provides a new strategy for multifunctional e-skin with high resolution and may promote the development of human-machine interaction.

The prevalence of allergic disorders has been increasing globally, and it may be useful to identify the modifiable factors associated with it. Diet has been identified as one possible lifestyle factor implicated in the pathogenesis of allergic diseases. The goal of this study was to evaluate the associations between dietary patterns and the presence of allergies in a group of young women in eastern Iran. In all, 181 female students were enrolled. Screening for presence of allergic diseases, including allergic rhinitis (AR), asthma and eczema, was performed by an expert allergist. Information about dietary intake was collected using a validated 65-item food frequency questionnaire. Exploratory factor analysis was used to evaluate the relationships between food/nutrition variables. Serum immunoglobulin (Ig)E levels were significantly higher in the group in the third tertile (highest adherence) for a Western dietary pattern compared to the group in the first tertile (lowest adherence). The multivariate odds ratio for presence of allergic rhinitis (AR) was 2.5 (95% CI:1.1-5.1) for the highest compared to lowest tertile of the Western dietary pattern score. However, no significant relationship was found between a traditional dietary pattern and AR, asthma or eczema. Our findings indicate a potential role in the development of AR of the Western dietary pattern, which is characterized by high intake of dairy products, snacks, nuts and sugar. Since diet is a modifiable factor, the relationship between AR and a Western dietary pattern may have clinical implications, particularly in subjects with other risk factors for developing AR.

Ginkgo biloba is a living fossil and traditionally known as a source of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, largely because of the lipids in the kernels. In the present study, fatty acids, triacylglycerols, micronutrients, and oxidative stabilities of G. biloba kernel oils from four major different cultivated regions in China were systematically analyzed. The results showed that the kernel oils contained more than 26 triacylglycerol species with high contents of linoleic acid (42.04–43.01%), oleic acid (14.33–18.00%), and trans- vaccenic acid (15.13–16.86%). Functional fatty acids such as trans- vaccenic acid, palmitoleic acid, and podocarpic acid were particularly enriched in the oils. In addition, high levels of tocopherols (173.41–272.18 mg/100 g) and 304.09–673.26 mg/100 g of phytosterols in the oils contributed to significantly improve their oxidative stabilities. In particular, α-tocopherol (106.63–127.35 mg/100 g), γ-tocopherol (41.41–133.65 mg/100 g), campesterol (53.22–139.88 mg/100 g), and β-sitosterol (245.50–522.62 mg/100 g) were the dominant micronutrients; while γ-tocopherol significantly affected oxidative stabilities of the four oils from different regions. It is suggested that the G. biloba kernel oils are ideal sources for high-valued usages in skin care purpose, physical therapy, functional food, and nutritional supplements.

Hyaluronic acid (HA), a common biopolymer found in the extracellular fluid, was grafted with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) to form a composite polymer that could form inclusion complexes with tocopherol (VE), enhancing its water-solubility and serving as a model drug delivery system . Herein, different copolymers were prepared with varying HA:β-CD ratios and characterized. VE loading capacity was directly correlated with increased β-CD composition in the polymers and morphological changes were observed upon VE binding. The host materials and their VE inclusion complexes are not cytotoxic, and are thus useful for VE and drug delivery.

Functional e-textiles have garnered increasing attention in both academic and commercial domains. However, the development of e-textiles that simultaneously exhibit efficient electrothermal physiotherapy, effective electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, and reliable sensing capabilities remains a significant challenge. In this study, a robust superhydrophobic e-textile is developed through the fabrication of a three-dimensional interlocked conductive coating comprising MWNTs, MXene, and AgNWs, along with a low-wettability surface interface. The low-wettability interface imparts pronounced superhydrophobicity, for which the water contact angle is 155.2°, effectively protecting the conductive components from exfoliation and chemical damage. The integration of the MWNTs/MXene/AgNWs conductive coating with the prestretching process endows the superhydrophobic e-textile with exceptional strain-sensing performance, characterized by high sensitivity (414.8), rapid response time (40 ms), and a low detection threshold (0.1%). Furthermore, the formation of the interlocked conductive coating confers excellent electrical conductivity of up to 1826 S·m–1, enabling remarkable EMI shielding effectiveness (45.4 dB) and electrothermal performance (102.3 °C at 4.0 V). These results indicate that the developed superhydrophobic e-textile holds significant potential for utilization in fields such as EMI shielding, electrothermal physiotherapy, and motion tracking.

Bacterial identification is challenging due to several problems, such as low sensitivity, poor selectivity, and the lack of quantitative methods. To address these obstacles, a gold nanoparticles (AuNPs)@Polyaniline (PANI)/Phage electrode was developed. The bacteriophage was immobilized on the AuNPs@PANI modified electrode, serving as an electrochemical biosensor of Escherichia coli (E. coli) DH5 $\alpha$ . In application, this biosensor can detect of E. coli DH5 $\alpha$ within a dynamic range of 10–107 CFUmL-1 with the detection limit of 1.0 CFUmL-1. Modified AuNPs@ PANI/Phage electrode exhibits a signal/noise ratio equal to 3.0, but only AuNPs@ PANI displayed 1.025 in [Fe(CN)6]3−/4− This biosensor selectively detected of E. coli DH5 $\alpha$ bacteria in the presence of comparable concentrations of different bacterial strains. In addition, the modified electrode exhibited supercapacitive behavior during electrochemical characterization and showed a high specific capacitance of 782.61 Fg-1 at 1.0 Ag-1 and 94.7% retention over 10 000 GCD cycles. Further analysis was conducted using galvanostatic charge-discharge to measure capacitance and self-discharge to assess capacity retention over time, and the Dunn method to analyze the charge storage mechanism within the electrode material. In conclusion, the developed nanostructure displayed dual electrochemical behavior as a supercapacitor and biosensor. This is the first reported PANI functionalized capacitive-controlled electrodes for bacterial detection. The fabrication and detection process for a single glass carbon electrode (GCE)/AuNPs@PANI pernigraniline salt (PANI-PS)/Phage/E. coli electrode requires ~90 min, with an estimated material cost of U.S. ${\$}$ 5.28 per electrode. Furthermore, smartphone-based testing confirmed portable, realtime detectionwith <1.5% deviation, indicating promise for multichannel clinical biosensing.
