In this study, phosphate FeCo(H 3 O)(PO 4 ) 2 nanosheet arrays (NAs) were synthesized using an electrochemical strategy. FeCo(H 3 O)(PO 4 ) 2 NAs as precatalyst could undergo significant self-reconstruction, including leaching of phosphate anions and electro-oxidation of Co 2+ during anodizing at the potential range of oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in 1 M KOH solution, eventually resulting in the formation of Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 OOH NAs with low crystallinity . The high content of Fe in Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 OOH NAs promoted the formation of active Fe 3+ –O–Fe 3+ motifs that increased OER occurrence. Additionally, Fe incorporation increased the ratio of the reaction rate constants of oxygen evolution to Co 3+ /Co 4+ (k OER /k M,ox ) and enhanced the reaction order on the hydroxyl ion . These factors significantly contributed to the outstanding OER catalytic performances of Fe 0.5 Co 0.5 OOH NAs.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have unique properties and stable structures, which have been widely used as templates/precursors to prepare well developed pore structure and high specific surface area materials. In this article, an innovative and facile method of crystal reorganization was designed by using MOFs as sacrificial templates to prepare a layered double hydroxide (LDH) nano-layer sheet structure through a pseudomorphic conversion process under alkaline conditions. The obtained CoMn-LDH and CoFe-LDH catalysts broke the ligand of MOFs and reorganized the structure on the basis of retaining a high specific surface area and a large number of pores, which had higher specific surface area and well developed pore structure compared with LDH catalysts prepared by traditional methods, and thus provide more active sites to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS). Due to the unique framework structure of MOFs, the MOF-derived CoMn-LDH and CoFe-LDH catalysts could provide more active sites to activate PMS, and achieve a 2,4-dichlorophenol degradation of 99.3% and 99.2% within 20 minutes, respectively. In addition the two LDH catalysts displayed excellent degradation performance for bisphenol A, ciprofloxacin and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy indicated that the valence state transformation of metal elements participated in PMS activation. Electron paramagnetic resonance manifested that sulfate radical ( ) and singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) were the main species for degrading pollutants. In addition, after the three-cycle experiment, the CoMn-LDH and CoFe-LDH catalysts also showed long-term stability with a slight activity decrease in the third cycle. The phytotoxicity assessment determined by the germination of mung beans proved that PMS activation by MOF-derived LDH catalysts can basically eliminate the phytotoxicity of a 2,4-D solution. This research not only developed high-activity LDH catalysts for PMS activation, but also expanded the environmental applications of MOF derivants. LDH derived from MOFs through a pseudomorphic conversion process. LDH showed excellent activity to activate PMS to degrade 2,4-DCP and other pollutants. CoMn-LDH and CoFe-LDH exhibited high stability and reusability. High specific surface area and well developed pore structure of LDH provide more active sites. Phytotoxicity assessment displayed the practical application value of LDH.

The development of rechargeable zinc–air batteries is critically hindered by the sluggish kinetics of both the oxygen reduction and the oxygen evolution reaction. For advancing zinc–air battery technology. The effective design of bifunctional catalysts that efficiently facilitate both the oxygen reduction and oxygen evolution reactions is crucial for advancing the development of zinc–air batteries. Overcoming the intrinsic sluggish kinetics of oxygen electrocatalysis remains a fundamental challenge that limits the commercial viability of rechargeable zinc–air batteries. Herein, the work proposes a rational strategy to construct a three-phase heterogeneous interface: Co7Fe3/Co/Co2P@NPCNT was successfully synthesized by a two-step pyrolysis using CoFe–FF as the precursor and dicyandiamide and sodium hypophosphite as carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus sources, respectively. The half-wave potential (E1/2) of Co7Fe3/Co/Co2P@NPCNT is 0.85 V, and the overpotential (η10) is 295 mV at 10 mA cm–2. Comparative evaluation confirms that the catalytic activity of Co7Fe3/Co/Co2P@NPCNT is superior to those of Pt/C and RuO2. The catalytic activity of Co7Fe3/Co/Co2P@NPCNT is superior to that of Pt/C and RuO2. Meanwhile, the zinc–air batteries assembled by Co7Fe3/Co/Co2P@NPCNT have an open-circuit voltage of 1.45 V, a peak power density of 130 mW cm–2, and a large specific capacity. The structure of carbon nanotubes not only facilitates the dispersion of metal nanoparticles but also increases the active sites. Moreover, the corrosion of nanoparticles by alkaline electrolyte is reduced, and the stability is enhanced. The good bifunctional catalytic activity of Co7Fe3/Co/Co2P@NPCNT can be attributed to the synergistic effect of electron transfer between the three-phase interfaces and the multicomponent active centers (alloy, phosphide, N, P-codoped carbon nanotubes). In this work, the three-phase heterogeneous interface is constructed reasonably. This unique structure improves the catalytic activity and provides a new idea for the design of bifunctional catalysts.

Designing high-performance heterostructure catalysts for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation is a promising research area. PMS-driven organic pollutant degradation via radical pathways usually suffers from the interference of other coexisting matters. In this study, we took a source design approach and employed a self-templating strategy using Prussian blue analog (PBA) precursors to fabricate CoFe/C heterostructure catalysts dominated by a nonradical pathway. Slow-speed coordination renders the CoFe PBA precursor with a highly ordered crystal structure and fewer coordinated water, resulting in an ideal carbon-encapsulated CoFe bimetallic catalyst (CoFe-S-T) with more high-valence metals and a graphitized carbon layer in its heterostructure; the obtained catalyst is proven to have superior catalytic performance for tetracycline (TC) degradation through a nonradical pathway in PMS-driven oxidation . The high Co III /Co II ratio and surface oxygen content make CoFe-S-T an excellent catalyst by boosting the generation of 1 O 2 , which is the predominant active species. In addition, CoFe-S-T has a high proportion of graphitized carbon layers, which significantly improves the direct electron transfer pathway. Thus, utilizing precursor design in a self-templating strategy is an effective method to synthesize high-performance heterostructures for PMS-driven organic pollutant degradation.

Constructing three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical heterostructures is an appealing but challenging strategy to improve the performance of catalysts for electrical energy devices. Here, an efficient and robust flexible self-supporting catalyst, interface coupling of ultrathin CoFe-LDH nanosheets and Co3O4 nanowire arrays on the carbon cloth (CC/Co3O4@CoFe-LDH), was proposed for boosting oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in rechargeable liquid/solid Zn–air batteries (ZABs). The strong interfacial interaction between the CoFe-LDH and Co3O4 heterostructures stimulated the charge redistribution in their coupling regions, which improved the electron conductivity and optimized the adsorption free energy of OER intermediates, ultimately boosting the intrinsic OER performance. Besides, the 3D hierarchical nanoarray structure facilitated the exposure of catalytically active centers and rapid electron/mass transfer during the OER process. As such, the CC/Co3O4@CoFe-LDH catalyst achieved excellent OER catalytic activity in alkaline medium, with a small overpotential of 237 mV at 10 mA cm–2, a low Tafel slope of 35.43 mV dec–1, and long-term durability of up to 48 h, significantly outperforming the commercial RuO2 catalyst. More impressively, the liquid and flexible solid-state ZABs assembled by the CC/Co3O4@CoFe-LDH hybrid catalyst as the OER catalyst presented a stable open circuit voltage, large power density, superb cycling life, and satisfactory flexibility, indicating great potential applications in energy technology. This work provides a good guidance for the development of advanced electrocatalysts with heterostructures and an in-depth understanding of electronic modulation at the heterogeneous interface.

A rational design of high-performance catalysts with peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation and arsenic adsorption capacities for the removal of p -arsanilic acid ( p -ASA) is in high demand but remains a significant challenge. Herein, vacancies-rich metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) were constructed by room-temperature co-precipitation procedure, and the magnetic CoFe encapsulated in N -doped carbon nanotubes (CoFe- N -CNTs) were prepared using MOFs template by an annealing process under a nitrogen atmosphere. The synthesis conditions of CoFe- N -CNTs were optimized by tuning Fe/Co ratio and carbonization temperature. The CoFe- N -CNTs/PMS system showed favorable removal performance, achieving complete degradation of 46 μM p -ASA within 3 min and a total arsenic removal efficiency of 98% within 30 min at 0.1 g/L catalyst and 400 μM PMS. The degradation rate ( k obs ) and total arsenic removal efficiency towards p -ASA by CoFe- N -CNTs/PMS system were 6.7 and 2.7 times of those in the MOFs without vacancies-derived catalyst/PMS system, respectively. CoFe- N -CNTs/PMS system exhibited robust and efficient performance over a broad range of pH (4.5–9.0) and in different water matrices. Scavenging experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) results demonstrated that non-radical singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ), sulfate radicals (SO 4 − ), hydroxyl radicals ( OH), and superoxide (O 2 − ) were involved in p -ASA decomposition. Electron transfer and direct oxidative transfer process (DOTP) also contributed to p -ASA degradation. High-performance liquid chromatography coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (HPLC-ICP-MS) analysis indicated that the arsenic moiety was cleaved from p -ASA in the form of As(III) and then rapidly oxidized to As(V). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis indicated the removal of inorganic arsenic followed the mechanism of the inner-sphere complex. This study highlights the in-situ synthesis of CoFe- N -CNTs with outstanding activities for catalytic degradation and arsenic removal of organoarsenicals.

Layered double hydroxide (LDH) has emerged as a promising electrocatalyst; however, the synthetic method usually requires high temperature and high pressure, and sulfate-intercalated LDH is rarely reported. Herein, the sulfate-intercalated CoFe LDH nanosheets were successfully fabricated at ambient temperature via a facile strategy, using two-dimensional ZIF-9(III) as a template and FeSO4as both etchant and iron source. When the as-prepared sulfate-intercalated CoFe LDH acts as an electrocatalyst, it presents superior electrocatalytic performance for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), requiring low overpotential (η@10 mA cm−2= 218 mV) with a small Tafel slope of 59.9 mV dec−1in 1.0 M KOH, which compares favorably with commercial RuO2and most reported transition-metal electrocatalysts. The high catalytic activity of CoFe LDH might be ascribed to the large interlayer space distance originating from special SO42−ions and the strong synergistic effects between Fe and Co. This work provides a novel and feasible approach to designing highly efficient electrocatalysts based on advanced LDH materials for OER.Keywords:facile synthesis;sulfate-intercalated CoFe LDH;two-dimensional ZIF-9(III);electrocatalysts;oxygen evolution reaction

Dual-atomic catalysts (DACs) demonstrated remarkable potential in addressing key challenges in electro-Fenton (EF) processes. In this study, we synthesized an EF DACs comprising both CoN 4 and FeN 4 sites, which was achieved a high H 2 O 2 generation rate (1.68 mM −1 h −1 ) and 100 % bisphenol A degradation efficiency via successive two-electron oxygen reduction and one-electron Fenton reactions (2e − ORR + 1e − Fenton). Our findings indicated that the single-atom nitrogen coordination of CoN 4 and FeN 4 sites plays crucial roles in regulating the adsorption of key intermediates of *OOH and *H 2 O 2 . The bimetallic sites independently regulated the binding energies of *OOH on CoN 4 (pyrrole-type) for favorable H 2 O 2 generation and its subsequent activation on adjacent FeN 4 (pyridine-type). Thus, the dual-site engineering addresses the trade-off of in situ H 2 O 2 generation-activation in EF chemistry, realizing high electron utilization efficiency and fast pollutant degradation toward efficient and sustainable water treatment.

Optimizing active sites and enhancing mass transfer capability are of paramount importance for the improvement of electrocatalyst activity. On this basis, CoFe 2 O 4 /CoFe nanoparticles (NPs) loaded N-doped carbon (NC) that featured with interconnected three-dimensional (3D) ordered porous hierarchies (3DOM FeCo/NC) are prepared, and its electrocatalytic activity is studied. Due to the open structure of 3D ordered macro-pores that greatly improves the mass transfer capacity of the catalytic process and enhances the utilization of active sites inside the catalyst, as well as the uniform distribution of Fe and Co bimetallic sites on the porous skeleton, 3DOM FeCo/NC exhibits superior bi-functional catalytic activities for both hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The overpotential of HER is lower than that of commercial Pt/C when performed at high current density (>235 mA cm −2 ) in 1.0 M KOH, and the half-wave potential (0.896 V) of ORR in 0.1 M KOH is also superior to that of 20% commercial Pt/C and most other similar catalysts. The effective utilization and synergistic effect of CoFe 2 O 4 and CoFe hetero-metallic sites remarkably enhance the electrocatalytic activity. Furthermore, 3DOM FeCo/NC is assembled as an air electrode in Zn-air battery, and exhibits satisfactory maximum power density, open-circuit voltage, and charge/discharge stability over benchmark Pt/C + IrO 2 . This work contributes new insights into the design of transition-metal-based multifunctional catalysts, and has great potential for energy conversion and storage.

ZIF confinement disperses CoFe nitride uniformly and tunes Co/Fe ratio precisely. • Co/Fe bimetallic coupling lead to synergistic effects for bifunctional HER/OER. • Low overpotentials reach 85 mV (HER@10 mA·cm −2 ) and 273 mV (OER@50 mA·cm −2 ). • Overall water splitting requires 1.59 V at 10 mA·cm −2 with durability over 100 h. CoFe-based materials are considered promising bifunctional catalysts for overall water splitting due to multicomponent synergistic effects. However, unrestricted metal atom migration during high-temperature synthesis causes particle aggregation and excessive Co–Fe interdiffusion, which destroys bimetallic interfacial structures, covers active sites, and hinders electronic modulation, thus limiting catalytic activity and stability. To solve these problems, a ZIF-assisted spatial confinement strategy is adopted herein. The ZIF framework constrains high-temperature atomic migration, alleviates particle coarsening, and weakens metal interdiffusion to maintain intact bimetallic interfacial environments, while exposing sufficient active sites. Further combining carbonization and in-situ nitridation modification, a composite system of CoFe metal nitride and N-doped carbon was prepared, significantly improving the kinetic properties of HER and OER. The optimal catalyst achieves an overpotential of 85 mV for the HER at 10 mA·cm −2 , and 273 mV for the OER at 50 mA·cm −2 , exhibiting superior catalytic performance compared with commercial noble-metal benchmarks. The assembled overall water splitting system requires only 1.59 V at a working current of 10 mA·cm −2 , and can operate stably for 100 h at 50 mA·cm −2 . This work provides a reliable strategy for inhibiting high-temperature structural degradation of CoFe-based catalysts toward high-efficiency and durable electrocatalytic water splitting.

In order to obtain materials with comprehensive microwave absorption performance for outdoor corrosive environmental applications, this paper constructed low-density CoFe-C porous polyhedrons with SiO 2 nanoparticles coating using ZIF-67 template, chemical synthesis, and sintering methods (abbreviated as CoFe-C@SiO 2 ). The different magnetic Fe contents (mass of raw material ferrocene) were used to adjust the microstructure and microwave absorption performance of CoFe-C@SiO 2 . The results show that after sintering, the C=N bond, C-N bond, and Co 2+ in ZIF-67 decomposed to generate Hcp-graphite C, Fcc-Co, and a small amount of CoO. Increasing Fe content reduced the reflection loss and increased the effective absorption bandwidth of CoFe-C@SiO 2 . The optimal absorption performance (a reflection loss of −58.3 dB, an effective absorption bandwidth of 5.41 GHz) at a thin thickness (1.70/1.73 mm) was obtained. The moderate attenuation constant and widest impedance matching band resulted in the optimal absorption performance. Dielectric loss was the primary loss mechanism of CoFe-C@SiO 2 . The simulation of radar cross section values confirmed the enormous potential of CoFe-C@SiO 2 to achieve stealth under radar detection by increasing the Fe content. Coating SiO 2 nanoparticles improved absorption and anti-corrosion performances of CoFe-C. This paper establishes a design strategy for high-performance radar-absorbing materials that are resilient to outdoor corrosion.

Nanocatalysts-catalyzed heterogeneous advanced oxidation process offers a promising option for decentralized wastewater treatment, whereas free reactive oxygen species (ROS) suffer from ultrashort lifetime and self-quenching effect. Herein, bimetallic CoFe-layered double hydroxide nanorods are synthesized over three-dimensional conductive nickel foam (CoFe-LDHs/NF) to achieve high proportion of surface-localized ROS by peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation. The Fe incorporation motivates electron redistribution of Co–Fe dual metal sites in stoichiometrically-optimized Co 2 Fe 1 -LDHs/NF, and promotes the binding affinity of Co sites for surface complexed PMS and ROS. The introduced Fe 2+ /Fe 3+ couple also facilitates Co 2+ /Co 3+ redox cycle for PMS activation. The monolithic Co 2 Fe 1 -LDHs/NF catalyst demonstrates 20 % enhancement in catalytic efficiency than pure Co 3 -LDHs/NF for sulfisoxazole oxidation. Additionally, it exhibits 1.45 to 7.47-fold higher apparent rate constant than Co 3 -LDHs/NF for benzoic acid oxidation with extending premixing period of catalyst and PMS (from 0 to 15 min), largely attributed to 64.9 % surface-localized ROS. Electron paramagnetic resonance, radical scavenging test, and probe experiment validate surface-localized SO 4 − as predominant key species. A continuous flow-through Co 2 Fe 1 -LDHs/NF catalytic system achieves >85 % BA removal over 900 min via single-pass operation, with electro-assisted regeneration at appropriate bias voltage. The proposed strategy provides new insights on designing oriented near-surface oxidation mode for long-term stable decontamination.
