Recently, all-inorganic perovskite (CsPbX 3 (X = Cl, Br, I)) nanocrystals (NCs) have caused extensive attention due to their high photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY), high color purity, and narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM). Although the excellent optical properties of perovskite NCs (PNCs) endow them good application prospects, their inherent instability severely limits the commercialization process. In this paper, highly-luminescence and ultra-stable phosphor were obtained by loading PNCs onto the surface of amino modified hexagonal boron-nitride (h-BN) white graphene (PNCs-BNWG), This structural design can effectively suppress the attenuation of photoluminescence (PL) intensity and enhance thermal stability, thereby realizing the high stability and brightness white LEDs. The synthesis process is simple and can be finished in a few minutes to ensure scalable production. Compared with bare PNCs, it can maintain excellent optical properties. The high PL QY and thermal stability mainly stem from the isolation effect that separates PNCs from each other on the surface of BNWG and their superior high transparency as well as thermal conductivity . In addition, multi-color inks are produced by dispersing PNCs-BNWG nanocomposites in PDMS to form a multicolor painting demonstrating high PL QY and wide color gamut.

A novel tunable red emitting phosphor LiBaB 9 O 15 :Sm 2+ /Sm 3+ , Li + with broad excitation band was synthesized by a high temperature solid-state method. Luminescence properties were investigated in detail by luminescence, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectra and CIE chromaticity coordinates. XPS data confirmed that there were Sm 3+ in LiBaB 9 O 15 :Sm 3+ and Sm 2+ /Sm 3+ in LiBaB 9 O 15 :Sm 2+ /Sm 3+ , respectively. Spectral property of LiBaB 9 O 15 :Sm 3+ , LiBaB 9 O 15 :Sm 3+ /Sm 2+ and LiBaB 9 O 15 :Sm 2+ , Li + presented that the excitation band of Sm 3+ widened and the excitation band of Sm 2+ ranged from 350 to 450 nm. And the red light color is tunable with changing Li + concentration. The results indicated that LiBaB 9 O 15 :Sm 2+ /Sm 3+ , Li + may be promising red phosphor for white light emitting diodes.

Na 3 Gd(PO 4 ) 2 phosphors doped with rare-earth metal ions Ce 3+ and Tb 3+ were fabricated by the solid-state reaction method. Under the excitation of 340 nm light, the Ce 3+ -doped Na 3 Gd(PO 4 ) 2 phosphors exhibit a broad emission band ranging from 370 nm to 480 nm, which emitted blue light centered at 405 nm. When excited at 373 nm, the Tb 3+ -doped Na 3 Gd(PO 4 ) 2 phosphors presented a green light emission, including a strong peak located at 547 nm. In addition, both of the Na 3 Gd(PO 4 ) 2 : Ce 3+ and Na 3 Gd(PO 4 ) 2 : Tb 3+ phosphors showed excellent thermal stability at different temperatures, be specific in the Na 3 Gd(PO 4 ) 2 : Ce 3+ emission intensities at 150 °C could maintain about 84 % and the Na 3 Gd(PO 4 ) 2 : Tb 3+ could maintain about 92.9 % of those at room temperature. A prototype of the white light-emitting diodes lamp exhibiting bright white light was fabricated by using a 365 nm near-ultraviolet-emitting LED chip, combined with Na 3 Gd(PO 4 ) 2 : Ce 3+ blue phosphors, Na 3 Gd(PO 4 ) 2 : Tb 3+ green phosphors, and Na 3 Gd(PO 4 ) 2 : Eu 3+ red phosphors , which produced a high color rendering index of 89.4, and a relatively low correlated color temperature of 5496 K. Moreover, the CIE point was calculated to be at (0.3332, 0.3438), locating in the white light region. These results indicate that the as-prepared phosphors can be considered as potential candidates for ultraviolet/near-ultraviolet light-excited white light-emitting diodes applications.

Bright cyan-emitting phosphor is indispensable to fill the cyan gap for the fabrication of full-visible-spectrum warm-white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with high color rendering index (CRI). In this study, we demonstrate a novel efficient cyan-emitting Ce 3+ -activated CaLu 2 HfScAl 3 O 12 (CLHSA) garnet phosphor for application in blue-light-excited full-spectrum warm-white LEDs. CLHSA:Ce 3+ phosphors show broadband excitation spectra in the 300–470 nm spectral range with a maximum peak at 408 nm, indicating they can be efficiently pumped by the blue LED chips. The optimal doping concentration of Ce 3+ ions is found to be 1 mol%. Upon 408 nm excitation, the optimal CLHSA:1%Ce 3+ phosphor gives rise to a bright broadband cyan emission (peak position: 498 nm; bandwidth: 97.5 nm) with CIE chromaticity coordinates of (0.2196, 0.4265) and high photoluminescence quantum yield of 64.5%. Finally, we have fabricated a blue-light-excited high-CRI warm-white LED device by employing the CLHSA:1%Ce 3+ cyan phosphor, commercial YAG:Ce 3+ yellow phosphor and commercial CaAlSiN 3 :Eu 2+ red phosphor as well as a 450 nm LED chip, which demonstrates a bright warm-white light emission with a high CRI (Ra = 92.6), a low correlated color temperature (3660 K), and good CIE chromaticity coordinates of (0.3993, 0.3939) as well as a high luminous efficacy of 45 lmW −1 . Therefore, this newly discovered efficient cyan-emitting CLHSA:1%Ce 3+ phosphor is promising for application in blue-chip-pumped full-visible-spectrum warm-white LEDs with high CRI values.

A novel layered perovskite tantalate phosphor Sr 3 LaTa 3 O 12 :Sm 3+ (SLTO:Sm 3+ ) with orange-red emission was obtained for the first time via the solid-phase synthetic method. The phase purity, surface morphology , element distribution and luminescent properties of the SLTO: x Sm 3+ ( x = 0.01 mol%–0.30 mol%) phosphors were investigated. Under 408 nm excitation, the optimum doped SLTO:0.10Sm 3+ phosphor emits orange-red light at 598 nm with the highest emission peak ( 4 G 5/2 → 6 H 7/2 ). The critical energy transfer distance is 1.687 nm. The prepared SLTO:0.10Sm 3+ phosphor has excellent thermal stability with temperature quenching temperature ( T 0.5 > 500 K) and high activation energy ( E a = 0.25 eV). Through calculation, the chromaticity coordinates of all samples are concentrated in the orange-red area, and the color purity reaches 99%. The fabricated white light-emitting diode (w-LED) has a good correlated color temperature (5132 K), a high R a (89), and the CIE chromaticity coordinates (0.340, 0.327). Consequently, the superiority of orange-red-emitting tantalate SLTO:Sm 3+ phosphors for w-LEDs is demonstrated.

Pure red mixed halide CsPbBr3−xIx perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) exhibit a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM), but there are phase stability issues that hinder their application in displays. In this work, we propose pure red CsPbBr0.96I2.04/SiO2 core/shell NCs by using (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane as the surface ligand and silicon source via a hot-injection and in situ hydrolytic process. The CsPbBr0.96I2.04/SiO2 NCs not only show excellent optical properties with a near-unity PLQY but also exhibit high stability against moisture, blue light, and heat. Pure red CsPbBr0.96I2.04/SiO2 NC inks were prepared by dispersing CsPbBr0.96I2.04/SiO2 NCs into a mixed solvent of toluene and dodecane and used to inkjet print NC color conversion films (NC-CCFs) with excellent luminescence uniformity and high stability. Finally, white-emitting Mini-LEDs were fabricated by combining pure red CsPbBr0.96I2.04/SiO2 NC-CCFs with green CsPbBr3/SiO2 NC-CCFs and blue Mini-LED chips, showing a high external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 24.8% and an ultrawide color gamut of 132.58% NTSC and 99.2% Rec. 2020 standards. This demonstrates the potential of pure red CsPbBr0.96I2.04/SiO2 NCs for Mini-LED backlights.

Lead-free perovskites are a new type of luminescent material with non-toxic, stability and excellent photoelectric properties, which have great application in the field of photoelectric detection, solar cells, bio-imaging, etc. Here, we reported a new kind of uniform spherical rare-earth based double perovskite Cs 2 NaYCl 6 nanocrystals (NCs) as versatile hosts to accommodate ionic dopants for improving photoelectric properties especially the luminescent properties. In contrast to the low quantum yield of only 5.62%, the luminescent intensity of Cs 2 NaYCl 6 NCs can be impressively enhanced via doping Sb 3+ and Mn 2+ ions in the rare earth-based double perovskite lattices. For the Sb 3+ -doping, the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) increases from 5.62% to 22.48%. On this basis, the luminescence colors can be tuned from blue to white and red via Mn 2+ ions doping and the maximum PLQY can be further improved to 38.66%. Finally, the Sb 3+ , Sb 3+ /Mn 2+ ions doped Cs 2 NaYCl 6 NCs based blue, red and white LEDs were explored, which indicates that these are potential materials in multicolor LEDs applications.

A series of reddish-orange emitting Ca 2 InNbO 6 :Sm 3+ (CINO:Sm 3+ ) phosphors for white light-emitting diodes (w-LEDs) were synthesized using a high-temperature solid-state technique. The synthesized CINO:Sm 3+ phosphors are pure phases with monoclinic structures. The optimal Sm 3+ doping concentration is 0.02 mol, and concentration quenching is due to the dipole-dipole interaction. Upon 407 nm excitation, the as-prepared CINO:Sm 3+ phosphors exhibited strong reddish-orange emission around 602 nm, attributed to the 4 G 5/2 → 6 H 7/2 transition of Sm 3+ . Surprisingly, the CINO:Sm 3+ phosphors revealed an abnormal thermal quenching (ATQ) phenomenon, and when the temperature of the phosphors was raised to 380 K, their emission intensity increased by more than 15%. The CINO:0.02Sm 3+ phosphor had a high color purity (98.9%) and reddish-orange chromaticity coordinates (0.608, 0.388). Meanwhile, the manufactured w-LED demonstrated a good color rendering index ( R a = 93), decent CCT (5752 K), and Commission International de l′Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates (0.327, 0.335). The experimental results demonstrated the superiority of the CINO:Sm 3+ phosphors in w-LEDs.

Given the inherent characteristics of defect-tolerant, tunable emission performance, and high extinction coefficient, lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have attracted widespread attention as a promising material in optoelectronic fields. However, their poor structural stability greatly impedes their practical applications. Herein, a novel strategy for synthesizing stable CsPbBr3@SiO2 NCs via the hydrolytic polycondensation of (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) in the presence of ionic liquids (ILs) is deliberately designed. The problems of fluorescence quenching and undesirable agglomeration of NCs resulting from ligand loss and surface erosion existing in common encapsulation methods can be effectively resolved. The fast and controllable growth of the SiO2 shell around the CsPbBr3 NCs is realized owing to the high polarity and hygroscopicity of the IL. Moreover, the dual effects of the IL for passivating the surface defects and avoiding the structural degradation of NCs during the hydrolysis process of APTES are demonstrated. As a result, CsPbBr3@SiO2 NCs with a high photoluminescence quantum yield of 85.7% and excellent stability are realized. Furthermore, this method proves to be a versatile tool to obtain CsPbX3@SiO2 NCs with different halide compositions, realizing a broad tunable wavelength from 421.2 nm to 651.6 nm. A warm white LED with a high color rending index was assembled through packaging CsPbBr3@SiO2 NCs and Cu–In–Zn–S/ZnS/PVP composites on a commercial blue chip. These findings are expected to facilitate the development of perovskite NCs, which provides access to their optoelectronic applications.

Nowadays, more and more attention has been paid to artificial lighting sources for plant growth. In this paper, transition metal Mn 4+ activated CaGdMgNbO 6 (CGMNO:Mn 4+ ) red phosphor was prepared high temperature solid state method. The crystal structure and cell parameters of novel CGMNO host were analyzed. The experimental results indicated that CGMNO:Mn 4+ phosphor exhibit an emission band (701 nm), which belongs to the 2 E g → 4 A 2g transition of Mn 4+ . The concentration quenching occurs when Mn 4+ doping concentration is greater than 0.5 mol%. The variable temperature emission spectra proved that the emission intensity of CGMNO:0.005Mn 4+ at 423 K maintained 75.2 % of that at 298 K. The CIE color coordinates and IQE of CGMNO:0.005Mn 4+ are (0.7136, 0.2863) and 49.45 %, respectively. Finally, a LED device was packaged with CGMNO:0.005Mn 4+ phosphor and a high-power chip (440 nm), the LED device shows stable electroluminescence intensity under different currents driving. All the results indicate that phosphors are suitable for lighting contemporary plant growth.

Waterborne polymers are advantageous in terms of cost, convenience, sustainability, and environmental friendliness. As lead halide perovskite (LHP) nanocrystals suffer from fast degradation in the presence of water, it is challenging to encapsulate LHP nanocrystals in waterborne polymers. In this work, luminescent MAPbBr3@PbBr(OH) nanocrystals were synthesized via the aqueous grinding process in the presence of 2-methyl-imidazole (2-MIM) and oleylamime (OAm). 2-MIM triggers the formation of the PbBr(OH) matrix, and OAm acts as a size-control ligand to control the size of MAPbBr3@PbBrOH particles in the nanoscale range. Highly stable waterborne luminescent inks were successfully prepared by blending MAPbBr3@PbBr(OH) nanocrystals with waterborne polymers, including poly(vinylpyrrolidone), poly(vinyl acetate), and acrylate resins. Owning to the dual protection of the polymer matrix and PbBr(OH) to LHP quantum dots (QDs), the luminescent films exhibit excellent stability to the environment under thermal and light irradiation. The ink can be used as a phosphor to fabricate down-converting green and white light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Waterborne anticounterfeiting inks suitable for screen printing were prepared via formula tuning for the anticounterfeit purpose. The anticounterfeiting luminescent patterns can be screen printed on paper, cloth, and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), with encryption and decryption of information being accurately and conveniently realized by switching UV irradiation.

Continuously monitoring neurotransmitter dynamics can offer profound insights into neural mechanisms and the etiology of neurological diseases. Here, we present a miniaturized implantable fluorescence probe integrated with metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) for deep brain dopamine sensing. The probe is assembled from physically thinned light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and phototransistors, along with functional surface coatings, resulting in a total thickness of 120 μm. A fluorescent MOF that specifically binds dopamine is introduced, enabling a highly sensitive dopamine measurement with a detection limit of 79.9 nM. A compact wireless circuit weighing only 0.85 g is also developed and interfaced with the probe, which was later applied to continuously monitor real-time dopamine levels during deep brain stimulation in rats, providing critical information on neurotransmitter dynamics. Cytotoxicity tests and immunofluorescence analysis further suggest a favorable biocompatibility of the probe for implantable applications. This work presents fundamental principles and techniques for integrating fluorescent MOFs and flexible electronics for brain-computer interfaces and may provide more customized platforms for applications in neuroscience, disease tracing, and smart diagnostics.
