Constructing hollow-structured materials is an efficient route to address the volume expansion of anode and enhance ion diffusion for sodium-ion battery (SIB). Superior to the single-walled products, multi-walled hollow-structured anode materials possess more storage sites, enhanced robustness, and higher volumetric capacity; nevertheless, synthesis of the multi-walled hollow structure often requires harsh synthesis conditionand complicated etching process. Herein, we report fabrication of Co 0.85 Se double-walled hollow cages coated by a nitrogen-doped carbon layer (Co 0.85 Se@CN) as high-performance anode materials for SIB. Using ZIF-67 as precursor, a facile ion exchange strategy is employed with no aid of high temperature treatment and complex etching process. The resultant Co 0.85 Se@CN exhibit distinct double-walled hollow structure with abundant lacunas on the walls, which increases the accessible area, shortens the ion transport path and most importantly provides appropriate buffer space against volume expansion. Moreover, the C protective layer on both sides of the inner- and outer-walls further benefits high conductivity, chemical stability, and robustness during charge/discharge process. As a result, the Co 0.85 Se@CN anode deliver a high reversible capacity of 402 mAh g –1 at 50 mA g –1 and 316 mAh g –1 at 100 mA g –1 after 100 cycles for SIB.

Arsenic(III) poisoning may lead to neurological disorders, heart diseases or carcinogenic effects due to long-term exposure. The presence of arsenic in drinking water is a widespread problem and presents an important analytical challenge. Among the methods for As(III) monitoring, electrochemical analysis offers fast response, low detection limits and high sensitivity. Here we report a novel system, which achieves exceptional performance without use of expensive noble metals by exploiting a metal oxide rich in oxygen vacancies (OVs). Novel OV-rich spinel ZnFe2O4 microspheres (ZF-Ms) were synthesized and applied to electrochemical monitoring of As(III) in underground drinking water by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV) in acetate buffer (pH 6.0). To boost sensing capability, the surface of ZF-Ms was further wrapped with carbon and nitrogen rich nanodots (CNs) and modified with benzimidazolium-1-acetate ionic liquid (IL). The designed CN-wrapped IL-modified ZF-Ms (CN@ZF-Ms-IL) sensor offered an ultra-low detection limit of 0.0006 ppb (based on the 3σ method), high sensitivity (41.08 μA ppb−1) and a wide linear range (∼1–60 ppb) including the World Health Organization (WHO)'s desirable range (10 ppb). To the best of our knowledge, the system outperforms most alternatives based on noble metal electrodes and almost all those based on the reported metal-free electrochemical sensors. A possible sensing mechanism is proposed and supported with experimental evidence. Additionally, the system has been successfully applied to monitor arsenic-contaminated real ground drinking water collected from a flood-affected area, Muzaffargarh, Punjab, Pakistan.

Photocatalytic property of nano Ag is weak and its enhancement is important to enlarge its application. Herein, a novel strategy of constructing silver g-C 3 N 4 biochar composite (Ag-CN@BC) as photocatalyst is developed and its photocatalytic degradation of bisphenol A (BPA) coupled with peroxydisulfate (PDS) oxidation process is characterized. Characterization result showed that silver was evenly embedded into the g-C 3 N 4 structure of the nitrogen atoms format, impeding agglomeration of Ag by distributing stably on biochar. In optimum condition, BPA of 10 mg/L could be degraded completely at pH of 9.0 with a 0.5 g/L photocatalyst, 2 mM PDS in Ag-CN@BC-2 (Ag/melamine molar ratio of 0.5)/PDS system (99.2%, k = 4.601 h −1 ). Ag-CN@BC shows superior mineralization ratio in degrading BPA to CO₂ and H₂O via active radical way, including holes ( h ⁺), superoxide radicals (•O 2 ⁻ ), sulfate radicals (SO 4 • ⁻ ), and hydroxyl radicals (•OH). Proper amount of silver can be dispersed effectively by gC 3 N 4 , which is responsible for improving the visible-light absorbing capability and accelerate charge transfer during activation of PDS for BPA degradation, while biochar as carrier in the composite is supposed to enhance the photoelectric degradation of BPA by reducing the band gap and increasing the photocurrent of Ag-CN@BC catalyst. Ag-CN@BC exhibits excellent catalyst stability and photocatalytic activity for treatment of toxic organic contaminants in the environment.

With the rapid development of flexible and integrated electronics, there is an urgent need for electromagnetic shielding materials that meet the requirements of thinness, high electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE), and low reflection loss (SE R ). This study designs an FL/CN composite film with an electric–magnetic bilayer multiscale structure, constructing an “absorption-reflection–absorption” electromagnetic wave dissipation path. First, spiky-ball-like Ni nanoparticles (NiNPs) were grown on cellulose nanofibers (CNF) via in situ reduction to form a magnetic layer (CN). This layer generates hysteresis and resonance losses while leveraging its multi-wall effect to induce polarization, multiple reflections, and scattering losses. Second, a multi-dimensional nanostructured FL conductive layer was fabricated using a mechanical blending method. The conductive network of silver nanowires (AgNWs) provides conductive loss, and the cocoa-tree-like SiO 2 @PDA structure forms a “resistor–capacitor” circuit to generate polarization loss, further attenuating and reflecting electromagnetic waves. Finally, the abundant heterogeneous interfaces in the macroscopic bilayer structure enhance electromagnetic wave dissipation. As a result, the composite film achieves an exceptional EMI SE of 85.59 dB with a low SE R of only 7.73 dB, alongside a tensile strength of 23.67 MPa. Additionally, the film exhibits excellent flexibility (bending radius < 6 mm), thermal management performance (thermal conductivity of 2.84 W/m·K), and strain sensing capabilities (response time of < 400 ms). This study provides a novel and scalable approach for developing flexible thin film EMI shielding materials with high shielding effectiveness and low reflection, demonstrating significant advantages over existing technologies in terms of efficiency, flexibility, and multifunctionality.

The photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) into high-value C 2+ hydrocarbons represents a sustainable pathway to alleviate energy shortages and reduce atmospheric CO 2 levels. In this study, a unique tandem photocatalyst (CoTi-CN), is constructed by integrating bimetallic CoTi-MOF with metal-free half-metallic C(CN) 3 . This composite demonstrates markedly enhanced activity and selectivity in the photocatalytic CO 2 reduction to ethylene (C 2 H 4 ), achieving a C 2 H 4 selectivity of 36.8% and a generation yield of 31.3 μmol g −1 over 5 h. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations combined with in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) analysis reveal that C(CN) 3 acts as an efficient CO 2 to CO converter, while CoTi-MOF favors the adsorption and C-C coupling of *CO intermediates. The spatially decoupled CO generation and C-C coupling processes lead to optimized intermediate coverage and reduced energy barriers, resulting in superior selectivity toward multi-carbon products. This work opens new horizons for the design of tandem photocatalysts that combine half-metallic catalysts with bimetallic MOFs, achieving a significant enhancement in the activity and selectivity of photocatalytic C 2 H 4 production.

The Z-scheme heterojunction has demonstrated significant potential for promoting photogenerated carrier separation. However, the rational design of all-solid Z-scheme heterojunctions catalysts and the controversies about carrier transfer path of direct Z-scheme heterojunctions catalysts face various challenges. Herein, a novel heterojunction, Cu 2 O@V-CN (octa), was fabricated using V-CN (carbon nitride with nitrogen-rich vacancies) in-situ electrostatic self-wrapping Cu 2 O octahedra. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that the separation of carriers across the Cu 2 O@V-CN (octa) heterointerface was directly mapped to the Z-scheme mechanism compared to Cu 2 O/V-CN (sphere). This is because the Cu 2 O octahedra expose more highly active (1 1 1) lattice planes with more terminal Cu atoms and V-CN with abundant nitrogen vacancies to form delocalized electronic structures like electronic reservoirs. This facilitates the wrapping of Cu 2 O octahedra by V-CN and protects their stability via tighter interfacial contact, thus enhancing the tunneling of carriers for rapid photocatalytic sterilization. These findings provide novel approaches for designing high-efficiency Cu 2 O-based photocatalytic antifoulants for practical applications.

In this study, an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor based on nanobody heptamer and resonance energy transfer (RET) between g-C3N4(g-CN) and NU-1000(Zr) was proposed for ultrasensitive ochratoxin A (OTA) detection. First, OTA heptamer fusion protein was prepared by fusing OTA-specific nanometric (Nb28) with a c-terminal fragment of C4 binding protein (C4bpα) (Nb28-C4bpα). Then, Nb28-C4bpα heptamer with the high affinity used as a molecular recognition probe, of which plenty of binding sites were provided for OTA-Apt-NU-1000(Zr) nanocomposites, thereby improving the immunosensors’ sensitivity. In addition, the quantitative analysis of OTA can be achieved by using the signal quenching effect of NU-1000(Zr) on g-CN. As the concentration of OTA increases, the amount of OTA-Apt-NU-1000(Zr) fixed on the electrode surface decreases. RET between g-CN and NU-1000(Zr) is weakened leading to the increase of ECL signal. Thus, OTA content is indirectly proportional to ECL intensity. Based on the above principle, an ultra-sensitive and specific ECL immunosensor for OTA detection was constructed by using heptamer technology and RET between two nanomaterials, with a range from 0.1 pg/mL to 500 ng/mL, and the detection limit of only 33 fg/mL. The prepared ECL-RET immunosensor showed good performance and can be successfully used for the determination of OTA content in real coffee samples, suggesting that the nanobody polymerization strategy and the RET effect between NU-1000(Zr) and g-CN can provide an alternative for improving the sensitivity of important mycotoxin detection.Keywords:Nb28-C4bpα heptamer;electrochemiluminescence immunosensor;resonance energy transfer;ochratoxin A

In this work, three kinds of bimetallic Prussian blue analogues (PBAs), i.e. K x Ni [Fe(CN) 6 ]·nH 2 O (NiFe-PBA), K x Co [Fe(CN) 6 ]·nH 2 O (CoFe-PBA), and K x Mn [Fe(CN) 6 ]·nH 2 O (MnFe-PBA), were synthesized by a simple precipitation method under identical conditions. Their chemical compositions , structures, morphologies, valences of transition metals, and electrochemical sensing performances for 2-nitrophenol (2-NP) are examined in details. It is found that all the prepared PBAs hold face-centered-cubic structures with near perfect cube morphologies for NiFe-PBA and CoFe-PBA and truncated cube morphology for MnFe-PBA. For the electrochemical detection of 2-NP, a wide detection range of 1.0–700.0 μM was obtained at all PBAs modified electrodes together with the sensitivities of 443.3, 368.0, and 339.0 μA cm −2 mM −1 and detection limits of 0.28, 0.46, and 0.59 μM achieved at NiFe-PBA, CoFe-PBA, and MnFe-PBA modified electrodes, respectively. The superiority in electrochemical sensing performance of NiFe-PBA to CoFe-PBA and MnFe-PBA may stem from its higher conductivity, lager electroactive surface area, and better intrinsic catalytic property of the transition metal in its framework. Furthermore, the constructed NiFe-PBA-based sensor displays good repeatability, long-term stability, and high selectivity together with desirable recoveries (97.8–103.9%) for the assay of 2-NP in water samples. The present work is the first report on the PBAs-based electrochemical sensors for 2-NP detection, which may promise a future of PBAs or PBAs-based materials for sensing applications.

The development of aqueous sodium-ion batteries (ASIBs) has been greatly restricted as a result of their narrow electrochemical stability window (ESW) (about 1.23 V). Many researchers attempt to expand the ESW using high concentrations of electrolyte solution or choosing titanium or other inert materials as collectors. However, these methods would lead to higher battery costs. In this work, we demonstrated a low-cost ASIB system, in which the cathode, anode, and electrolyte solution were applied by graphene oxide (GO)-modified Na2MnFe(CN)6 (PBM), zinc sheet, and solution of Na2SO4 (1 M) and ZnSO4 (1 M), respectively. When the graphite sheet with high hydrogen and oxygen evolution overpotential was used as the collector, the ESW was expanded to about 3.4 V. The full cell owned a stable discharge platform and high discharge potential (∼1.8 V). Furthermore, the modification of PBM by reduced graphene oxide (rGO) obviously increased the discharge capacity to 110 mAh g–1, extended the cycle life (91% capacity retention after 200 cycles), and greatly improved the rate capacity (76% capacity for 500 mA g–1 rate). It should also be noted that the full cell consisting of a rGO/PBM cathode and zinc anode could achieve an energy density as high as 165 Wh kg–1.

A novel multifunctional fluorescent chemosensor has been constructed with a highly selective “off–on” behavior, recoverability and recyclability based on β-CD/AD (adamantane) host–guest self-assembly interactions. Adamantane-modified fluorescein/cyclodextrin-modified Fe3O4@SiO2 inclusion complex magnetic nanoparticles (FFIC MNPs), which can provide a specific green fluorescence enhancement in response to Zn2+, have a detection limit of 4.5 × 10−7 mol L−1 in CH3CN : H2O (1 : 4, v/v). The spirolactam ring in the fluorophore moiety would be open with the introduction of Zn2+, while it could recover as long as the zinc in the complex is removed. Meanwhile, one gram of FFIC MNPs can adsorb 6.1 mg zinc. Therefore, the derivative chemosensors, FFIC MNPs–Zn, are available to respond to CN− due to the fluorescence quenching under UV (ultraviolet) radiation with a detection limit of 7.7 × 10−7 mol L−1. Furthermore, the FFIC MNPs exhibit great reusability and recyclability in aqueous solution on account of their magnetism and reproducibility. We recycle the residual MNPs to detect Zn2+ repeatedly for at least 4 times, after readily adsorbing the complex zinc with excess CN−, and the same principle also works in reverse. If the fluorophore moiety is inactive, we could also wash out the useless fluorescent molecules from the MNPs (hosts) and then reassemble new fluorescent small-molecules (guests) to maintain the efficient properties of the probe in responding to Zn2+ and CN− for at least 7 times.

Methadone and its metabolite 2-ethylidene-1,5-dimethyl-3,3-diphenylpyrrolidine (EDDP) are key biomarkers in wastewater-based epidemiology studies for assessing illicit opioid consumption. Due to their extremely low concentrations in wastewater, conventional laboratory-based detection methods are time-consuming, complex, and require expensive instrumentation, making them unsuitable for rapid on-site analysis. Herein, we developed a signal-amplified molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensor based on a Cu 2 Fe(CN) 6 /Cu-benzenehexathiol conductive metal-organic framework (CB-MOF) composite for the ultrasensitive detection of methadone and EDDP. The composite exhibits a high electrochemical signal through in situ synthesis of a conductive MOF with an integrated Prussian-Blue-analog redox probe. Guided by density functional theory (DFT) and molecular dynamics simulations, p-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) was selected as the functional monomer to construct a molecularly imprinted recognition layer for specific target binding. The sensor demonstrated a wide linear detection range for EDDP from 2.78 ng/L to 277.4 mg L −1 and methadone from 309.5 ng/L to 309.5 mg L −1 , with limits of detection as low as 99.86 pg/L and 3.28 ng/L, respectively. In addition, the sensor exhibited excellent stability, selectivity, reproducibility, regenerability, and applicability, offering robust support for the rapid on-site detection of opioids in municipal wastewater and river water.

Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), a vital protein for pregnancy determination and a marker for trophoblastic diseases , finds application in monitoring early pregnancy and ectopic pregnancy . This study presents an innovative approach employing electrochemical immunosensors for enhanced HCG detection, utilizing Anti-HCG antibodies and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in the sensor platform. Two sensor configurations were optimized: BSA/Anti-HCG/c-AuNPs/MEL/e-AuNPs/SPCE with [Fe(CN) 6 ] 3−/4− as a redox probe (1) and BSA/Anti-HCG/PPy/e-AuNPs/SPCE using polypyrrole (PPy) as a redox probe (2). The first sensor offers linear correlation in the 0.10–500.00 pg∙mL −1 HCG range, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.06 pg∙mL −1 , sensitivity of 32.25 μA∙pg −1 ∙mL∙cm −2 , RSD <2.47 %, and a recovery rate of 101.03–104.81 %. The second sensor widens the HCG detection range (40.00 fg∙mL −1 -5.00 pg∙mL −1 ) with a LOD of 16.53 fg∙mL −1 , ensuring precision (RSD <1.04 %) and a recovery range of 94.61–106.07 % in serum samples. These electrochemical immunosensors have transformative potential in biomarker detection, offering enhanced sensitivity, selectivity , and stability for advanced healthcare diagnostics.
