Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) possesses excellent corrosion resistance, moderate friction properties, and high‑temperature stability. However, under severe operating conditions, its coefficient of friction (COF) and wear rate increase significantly, limiting broader application. In this work, P‑MoS₂ was synthesized in situ on a PEEK matrix using a hydrothermal method, while K‑BN‑OH was prepared via surface grafting with a coupling agent. Both fillers were then blended with a PEEK/PTFE matrix to produce a novel PEEK/PTFE/P‑MoS₂/K‑BN‑OH composite. Orthogonal experiments identified the optimal composition of PEEK/PTFE/P‑MoS₂, which exhibited the best overall performance. The effect of K‑BN‑OH content on the mechanical, thermal, and tribological properties of the composites was systematically studied. Tribological behavior under varying conditions was analyzed to elucidate wear mechanisms and filler synergy. Results show that the composite with 25% PTFE and 5% P‑MoS₂ achieved the most balanced performance: elastic modulus (1414.62 MPa), compressive strength (127.81 MPa), COF (0.108), and wear rate (1.81 ×10⁻⁶ mm³/N·h) decreased by 22.58%, 35.82%, 73.13%, and 59.78%, respectively, compared to pure PEEK, while creep strain (2.77%) increased by 95.62%. Further addition of 3% K‑BN‑OH enhanced mechanical and thermal properties: elastic modulus rose to 1520.13 MPa, compressive strength to 131.33 MPa, creep strain fell to 1.82%, and thermal conductivity reached 0.294 W/m·K. The average coefficient of friction(ACOF) declined to 0.094, though wear rate rose slightly to 2.26 × 10⁻⁶ mm³/N·h. Tribological tests revealed that wear rate increased with rotational speed, while ACOF showed a non‑monotonic trend, first decreasing and then increasing. With increasing load, both ACOF and wear rate initially decreased before rising, reaching minima at 20 N (0.077 and 2.09 ×10⁻⁶ mm³/N·h, respectively). Molecular dynamics simulations elucidated that PTFE formed a lubricating film through interfacial enrichment, while MoS₂ enhanced matrix ordering and promoted interfacial slip via π-π stacking and C-S bonding. In contrast, h-BN disrupted the synergistic lubrication network established between PTFE and MoS₂ due to its spatial blocking effect. This work systematically elucidates the synergistic mechanisms of fillers from the microscopic level to macroscopic performance, providing a theoretical basis for the design of high‑performance PEEK composites tailored to specific operating conditions.

Among various heterogeneous catalysts, the strong metal–support interaction (SMSI)-based catalysts have demonstrated remarkable activity in many fields. However, most of the classical SMSI catalysts reported so far are based on oxide supports and are formed under harsh reduction conditions and high temperatures. Herein, a metal/BN core–shell structure based on SMSI is reported by the reduction reaction of metal ions on hBN modified by a simple ball-milling process. This effective method can be further generalized to load various noble or non-noble metal nanoparticles (Co, Ni, Fe, Cu, and Pt) on modified hBN. Both experimental results and theoretical calculations show that hBN with good crystallization after ball milling tends to become amorphous, and the adsorption between the amorphous BN and metal nanoparticles is significantly enhanced. Due to the formation of the SMSI shell, the Pt on modified hBN sample showed enhanced catalytic performance for the hydrogen production via hydrolysis of ammonia borane. Compared with Pt on pristine hBN, the catalytic turnover frequency of Pt on modified hBN catalyst is increased by 4 times to 366.9 min −1 and shows twice the stable catalytic duration, both of which are predominant among most Pt-based catalysts reported so far.

All-inorganic CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) perovskite quantum dots (QDs) are prone to degradation under certain conditions, such as air, ultraviolet light and high temperature, which limits their practical applications. Here, we report the utilization of four kinds of BN nanomaterials, namely BN nanosheets (BNNS), BN nanofibers (BNNF), commercial BN nanosheets (C-BNNS) and BN nanospheres (BNNP), as carriers for supporting CsPbBr3 (CPB) QDs to obtain a series of CPB/BN nanocomposites. A comprehensive study on the microstructures, photoluminescence (PL) properties, and the stabilities of various nanocomposites under different conditions (air, ultraviolet light and high temperature) has been carried out. The results show that the addition of BN can not only retain the excellent PL properties of CsPbBr3 QDs, but also improve their photostabilities, long-term storage stabilities, and thermal stabilities. Comparative studies also demonstrate that BN nanomaterials with different structures have great influence on the properties of CPB/BN nanocomposites. BNNS and BNNF with high specific surface areas and surface functional groups can provide a large number of adsorption sites for the uniform anchoring of CsPbBr3 QDs, thus effectively improving the PL and stability performance of the nanocomposites. In particular, compared with the QDs loaded on the surface of nanofibers, the CsPbBr3 QDs can be better protected by multi-layered nanosheets with a flexible feature and folds, thereby showing higher crystallinity. Finally, the best-performing CPB/BNNS nanocomposite is made into a white LED device, which emits bright white light with a correlated color temperature of 5531 K. The findings can provide an effective guiding strategy for the development of high-performance BN-based nanocomposites, which are of great significance due to their great potential applications in solid-state lighting.

The ZrB 2 –BN composite without ZrC impurity was prepared successfully using reactive hot pressing via carbothermal reduction of ZrO 2 with B 4 C, C, and BN powders. The influences of additives and sintering temperature on the phase and microstructure of composites were investigated. The formation reaction of ZrC was inhibited by decreasing the evaporation of intermediate product B 2 O 3 due to forming a SiO 2 –B 2 O 3 eutectic system with the addition of SiO 2 or SiO 2 – CaF 2 . In comparison, SiO 2 –CaF 2 exhibited better inhibition capacity of ZrC. ZrB 2 –BN composite without impure ZrC phase was achieved. In addition, the content of ZrO 2 decreased with increasing sintering temperature, and finally disappeared when sintered at 1800°C. Moreover, the relative density of the ZrB 2 –BN composite reached 96.9%.

High-density h-BN@SiC/ZrO 2 composites with different ZrO 2 contents were prepared by hot-pressing. The microstructure, flexural strength, thermal shock behavior, thermal expansion properties and corrosion resistance of the composites in molten steel were systematically investigated. The construction of the h-BN@SiC core-shell structure is conducive to the formation of a uniform and continuous network structure during the sintering process. This significantly improves the sintering performance of h-BN-based materials and enables the low-temperature preparation of high-density products. Moreover, the uniform distribution of SiC can effectively coordinate the thermal matching between h-BN and ZrO 2 , significantly improving the high-temperature performance of the material. During the corrosion process, the SiC network structure can effectively bind ZrO 2 and BN particles, effectively resist the erosion of high-temperature molten steel, and its erosion resistance increases with the increase of ZrO 2 content. Especially, when the ZrO 2 content reached 40%, the erosion depth of the sample was merely 160.61 μm after being immersed in static molten steel for 120 min. Moreover, the h-BN@SiC/ZrO 2 composite with 30 wt% ZrO 2 demonstrates superior comprehensive performance: It achieves a flexural strength of 159.63 MPa, retains 87.08% of its original strength after thermal shock testing, exhibits a low apparent porosity of 3.37%, and possesses an average coefficient of thermal expansion as low as 3.95 × 10 −6 /K −1 . The comprehensive properties of h-BN@SiC/ZrO 2 composites were obviously improved by SiC network structure.

The development of high-power electronic devices demands dielectric composites with excellent breakdown strength and high relative permittivity, reliable performance at elevated temperatures, and high thermal conductivity. Polyethersulfone (PESU) is a promising dielectric material owing to its outstanding breakdown strength and thermal stability, but it suffers from a relatively low dielectric constant. To address this, the present study investigated modification strategies by incorporating boron nitride (BN) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) into the PESU matrix, coupled with an optimized multilayer structural design. Composite dielectric films of 5 wt% TiO2-PESU (5TP), 5 wt% BN-PESU (5BP), and 2.5 wt% BN + 2.5 wt% TiO2-PESU (2.5BTP) and a hot-pressed five-layer structured film were fabricated via solution casting, and their dielectric, energy storage, and thermal properties were systematically evaluated, especially at elevated temperatures. Experimental results show that appropriate filler loading enhances composite performance. At 50 °C, the 5BP composite achieved an energy storage density of 4.38 J cm−3 and a charge–discharge efficiency of 89.6% at 420 kV mm−1. Notably, the five-layer film integrated the advantages of single fillers, delivering a higher energy storage density of 6.53 J cm−3 and a charge–discharge efficiency of 86.9% at 380 kV mm−1. Through comprehensive experiments and analysis, this work reveals the mechanism for optimizing the performance of modified PESU-based composites, providing a valuable reference for developing high-performance, stable thin-film capacitor dielectrics for high-temperature applications.

h-BN is modified via synergistic KH550 and Span 80. BNKS nanosheets sustain stable dispersion in ester oil 1190 for 7 days. • BNKS nanofluids show less viscosity rise. BNKS-5 has 8.27% higher thermal conductivity (0.1693 W·m −1 ·K −1 , 20 ℃) vs ester oil. • BNKS-5 nanofluid lowers battery module maximum temperature difference to 4.80 °C at 4 L/min. Immersion cooling technology enables efficient heat dissipation through direct heat exchange between coolants and components. Ester oils are considered potential cooling media owing to their biodegradability and excellent thermal stability; however, their low thermal conductivity limits further improvement in cooling performance. Thus, this study proposed and implemented a synergistic mechanism combining chemical bonding and physical adsorption through the surface modification of h-BN with KH550 and Span 80. Nanofluids were prepared using ester oil 1190 as the base fluid, and their dispersion stability, rheological properties, and thermal conductivity were evaluated. Numerical simulations were further conducted to assess the cooling performance of the BNKS nanofluid in an immersion cooling system. The results demonstrated that the modified BNKS nanosheets exhibited improved short-term dispersion stability in ester oil 1190 compared with h-BN, maintaining stable dispersion after 7 days of static sedimentation. Moreover, surface modification reduced the viscosity increase of high-concentration nanofluids. At 20 °C, the BNKS-5 nanofluid achieved a thermal conductivity of 0.1693 W·m −1 ·K −1 , corresponding to an 8.27% enhancement compared with ester oil 1190. At a flow rate of 4 L/min, the BNKS-5 nanofluid decreased the maximum temperature difference of the battery module to 4.80 °C and maintained an average temperature of 26.78 °C, indicating enhanced temperature uniformity and cooling performance. This study proposed a synergistic surface modification strategy that integrated KH550-induced chemical bonding with the physical adsorption of Span 80 to improve the dispersion stability and thermal transport properties of ester oil-based h-BN nanofluids, highlighting their potential for immersion cooling applications.

A color converter is a critical component in realizing new-generation laser lighting because it displays thermal-induced luminescence saturation due to substantial heat accumulation. Herein, a multi-channel thermal design was introduced in a phosphor-in-glass film (PiGF) color converter, and a double-sided heat-conducting BN@PiGF@Al2O3 converter was proposed for high-brightness laser lighting. The BN@PiGF@Al2O3 was prepared via low-temperature sintering of a PiGF on a reflective Al2O3 substrate, which was then topped with a BN-in-glass (BiG) layer. The PiGF thickness was adjusted to control the photo-thermal performance of the laser-driven BN@PiGF@Al2O3. As the Y3Al5O12:Ce3+ (YAG) PiGF thickness reached 80 μm, the laser-driven BN@PiGF@Al2O3 emitted white light with a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 5823 K and a chromaticity coordinate of (0.3251, 0.3441) under a laser power density (LPD) of 30 W mm−2. The BN@PiGF@Al2O3 yielded a high luminous flux (LF) of 4784 lm@30 W mm−2, which was 1.39 times that of the traditional PiGF@Al2O3 converter with an LF of 3445 lm@18 W mm−2. Furthermore, the BN@PiGF@Al2O3 displayed a working temperature of 232 °C under an LPD of 30 W mm−2. The results demonstrate that the BN@PiGF@Al2O3 displays efficient double-sided heat transfer and improved luminescence saturation, making it a promising reflective color converter for high-brightness laser lighting.

With the rapid development of electronic devices and rubber tires, the industry has put forward new requirements for the heat dissipation of rubber components. With excellent thermal conductivity, oxidation resistance, and thermal stability, hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) is often added to plastics or rubber as a thermally conductive filler, but is less effective when used directly. In this study, h-BN-K was prepared by direct modification of the mixed solution of KH-550, and KH-570, while h-BN-PK was prepared by co-modification of dopamine, KH-550, and KH-570. Two modified h-BN were added to natural rubber (NR) to improve the vulcanization properties, mechanical properties, and thermal conductivity. It was found that the tensile strength and thermal conductivity of 20 wt% h-BN-PK/NR composites were 30.6 MPa and 0.335 W/mK, which were 39.1% and 110.7% higher compared to pure NR (22.0 MPa and 0.159 W/mK), respectively. In addition, the addition of h-BN improved the thermal stability performance of NR to some extent. In conclusion, the h-BN-PK/NR composites provide a certain reference for the use of thermally conductive NR and suggest new ideas for heat dissipation of electronic devices.

The h-BN/ZrO 2 composites with different 3Y–ZrO 2 content were prepared by spark plasma sintering at 1800 °C. The sintering behavior , bulk density, apparent porosity , thermal conductivity , thermal expansion coefficient , bending strength , thermal shock resistance , microstructure and phase were analyzed. The optimum specimens were used to test the resistance to corrosion of molten steel for 10, 20, 40, 80 min respectively. The results indicated that ZrO 2 could facilitate the sintering process of h-BN matrix under the action of spark plasma. Especially, for the composites with 30 wt% 3Y–ZrO 2 , the porosity could decrease to 1.1% and the flexural strength could exceed 150 MPa. The microstructure showed the h-BN grains and 3Y–ZrO 2 grains are closely combined. The XRD patterns indicated that the t-ZrO 2 diffraction peak gradually enhanced with the increase of density. With the increase of erosion time, the erosion rate increased significantly. After the surface of the specimen is eroded, the erosion resistance of the matrix would decrease significantly. This h-BN/ZrO 2 could be as side-dam used in the thin strip continuous casting process .

Active site tuning in catalyst design is the key to improving the catalyst performance. Herein, we introduce single cobalt atoms into carbon-doped boron nitride (C-BN) and find, to our surprise, that the photocatalytic CO 2 reduction site of C-BN shifts from CN 3 to CB 3 . The catalyst Co/C-BN with new active sites exhibits excellent photocatalytic activity and selectivity of CO without adding sacrificial reagents, while the side reaction of hydrogen evolution is significantly inhibited. Theoretical calculations show that the introduced Co atom changes the spin density of the neighboring catalytic site, thus regulating the adsorption energy of the catalytic site for active intermediates (COOH*). Compared with CN 3 site, CB 3 in Co/C-BN shows superiority in CO* formation elementary step for the conversion of CO 2 to CO, and inhibits the generation of adsorbed H 2 in the competitive water-splitting reaction. This work provides valuable insights into the design of highly efficient catalysts in the future.

Herein, the graphene quantum dots (GQDs) as a photosensitizer have been introduced on the surface of C-doping porous BN nanoribbons (C-BNNR) to form a series of 0D/1D GQDs/C-BNNR heterojunctions as metal-free catalysts with excellent photocatalytic activity. the C-BNNR with sensitization of GQDs is innovatively applied to the field of CO 2 photocatalytic reduction. The results reveal that GQDs/C-BNNR heterojunctions exhibit excellent optical properties and photocatalytic activity. The CO production rate of GQDs/C-BNNR-3 (33.47 μmol g -1 h -1 ) is 14.49, 4.60 and 2.95 times higher than GQDs (2.31 μmol g -1 h -1 ), BNNR (7.27 μmol g -1 h -1 ) and C-BNNR (11.34 μmol g -1 h -1 ), respectively. This work demonstrates that the addition of GQDs can significantly improve the light utilization of C-BNNR without any effect on the structure. In addition, the strong interaction between the GQDs and C-BNNR leads to the formation of a built-in electric field. It allows photogenerated electrons in GQDs to be transferred into C-BNNR and complexed with holes. As a result, the photogenerated electrons in C-BNNR are induced to participate in the CO 2 photocatalytic reduction process. Meanwhile, GQDs/C-BNNR possess certain CO 2 photocatalytic reduction ability in the NIR region due to the upconversion ability of GQDs. This work pioneer the application of GQDs/C-BNNR heterojunctions in CO 2 photocatalytic reduction and further provides new ideas for the design of novel metal-free catalysts.
