Plasmonic Au nanorods/CsPbBr 3 quantum dots film has been prepared via spin-coating. It is found that photoluminescence intensity of Au nanorods/CsPbBr 3 quantum dots film exhibits 2-fold enhancement compared with pristine CsPbBr 3 quantum dots film. Time-resolved photoluminescence decay curves show that the lifetime of CsPbBr 3 quantum dots film decreases from 6.15 ns to 4.78 ns after combining with Au nanorods. The finite-difference time-domain simulation indicates that Au nanorods arouse a localized surface plasmon resonance around 500 nm, which enhances the emission intensity of CsPbBr 3 quantum dots film.

Metal oxides exhibit excellent barrier properties against moisture and oxygen, which are regarded as the powerful candidate for boosting the stability of perovskite nanocrystals (NCs). Here, we develop a simple method to coat perovskite NCs with PbO by peroxides post-treatment. Firstly, the didodecyl dimethyl ammonium sulfide (DDAS) was used to modify the CsPbBr3 NCs (DDAS-CsPbBr3), and then sequentially treated with benzoyl peroxide (BPO). By this way, the self-metal source (lead) can be easily oxidized, leading to the quick growth of lead oxide (PbO) on the surface of individual CsPbBr3 NCs. Under illumination with a 450 nm LED light (175 mW/cm2), the PbO coated CsPbBr3 NCs maintained at ~90% of the initial intensity for 20 h of operations; in contrast, the emission from the CsPbBr3 NCs completely quenched.

The encapsulation of CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals (NCs) in oxide glass can effectively avoid contact of the external environment with the halide perovskite. However, the effects of hydroxyl and oxygen on NCs cannot be completely excluded because of the nature of oxide glass itself. Here, we proposed a new solution to solve these problems by using fluorophosphate (FP) glass as the embedding matrix. The composition (Br concentration) and heat treatment conditions (temperature and time) of the glass matrix were designed and optimized to improve the optical properties of CsPbBr 3 NCs. The results showed that highly pure green light with an emission peak of 534 nm and a full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) of approximately 19 nm was achieved using CsPbBr 3 NCs@glass and a light-emitting diode (LED)/laser diode (LD). The Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of the two devices were (0.243, 0.723) and (0.239, 0.739), with very high color purities of 96.6% and 97.3%, respectively. The photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) of the samples excited at 365 nm and 450 nm wavelengths were 34.54% and 38.85%, respectively. Additionally, the chemical stability of CsPbBr 3 NCs was significantly improved by the encapsulation in FP glass, retaining 88% of the original PL intensity after 30 days of storage in deionized water. This work provides a new choice to improve the stability of a halide perovskite in a matrix.

Aerogels, especially MXene aerogels, are an ideal multifunctional platform for developing efficient photocatalysts for CO 2 reduction because they are featured by abundant catalytic sites, high electrical conductivity, high gas absorption ability and self-supported structure. However, the pristine MXene aerogel has almost no ability to utilize light, which requires additional photosensitizers to assist it in achieving efficient light harvesting. Herein, we immobilized colloidal CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals (NCs) onto the self-supported Ti 3 C 2 T x (where T x represents surface terminations such as fluorine, oxygen, and hydroxyl groups) MXene aerogels for photocatalytic CO 2 reduction. The resultant CsPbBr 3 /Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene aerogels exhibit a remarkable photocatalytic activity toward CO 2 reduction with total electron consumption rate of 112.6 μmol g -1 h - 1 , which is 6.6-fold higher than that of the pristine CsPbBr 3 NC powders. The improvement of the photocatalytic performance is presumably attributed to the strong light absorption, effective charge separation and CO 2 adsorption in the CsPbBr 3 /Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene aerogels. This work presents an effective perovskite-based photocatalyst in aerogel form and opens a new avenue for their solar-to-fuel conversions.

Perovskite nanocrystals (NCs), which have emerged as a new class of phosphors with superb luminescence properties and bandgaps that can be easily tuned using chemical methods, have generated tremendous interest for a wide variety of applications where colloidal quantum dots have been very successful as carrier sources. In this study, self-assembled films of CsPbBr 3 NCs were produced via drop casting of colloidal NCs onto glassy carbon electrodes (GCEs) to form an NC film-modified electrode. The possible fabrication process of the CsPbBr 3 NCs films was discussed. We further studied the anodic electrochemiluminescence (ECL) behavior of the perovskite CsPbBr 3 NCs film using cyclic voltammetry with tripropylamine (TPA) as a coreactant, and a possible ECL mechanism was proposed. Briefly, TPA was oxidized to produce strongly reducing radical species, which can react with electrochemically oxidized CsPbBr 3 NCs to generate excited CsPbBr 3 NCs* capable of light emission. The relative stability of the ECL emission of the CsPbBr 3 NC films under aqueous conditions was also investigated, and it was found that they showed operational stability over the first three hours, indicating suitable reliability for application as sensing materials. The results suggested that semiconducting perovskite NCs have great potential for application in the ECL field.

All-inorganic perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) have recently emerged as a new class of materials due to their tunable bandgaps and high photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs). The origin of the enhancement of PLQY of CsPbBr3 NCs is usually attributed to the efficient passivation of the surface halide vacancies creating nonradiative recombination sites. In this work, Br-rich CsPbBr3 NCs with a PLQY of 97% were prepared using an extreme excess of Br source with Br/Pb of 4.5/1 from the ligand itself at room temperature. Br-rich CsPbBr3 NC based light-emitting devices were fabricated under ambient conditions, exhibiting the maximum current efficiency of 1 cd A−1 at the luminance of 750 cd m−2. First principles calculations indicate that Br interstitials can form the strong localized states. Such localized effect can prevent photogenerated carriers from defusing to non-radiative recombination centers, thus being responsible for the high emission efficiency.

Metal halide perovskites, such as CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, and I), have gained extensive attention due to their increasing demand in optoelectronic applications such as solar cells and lighting-emitting devices. Herein, we report a versatile approach to synthesize high-quality CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals (sized 5–15 nm) by ligand-assisted reprecipitation at room temperature. The monodispersed CsPbBr3 nanocube perovskites displayed relatively high photoluminescence quantum yields of 50–80%. By virtue of the quantum size effects, the bandgap energies were manipulated from blue to green spectral regions (410–530 nm). In addition, through compositional modulations of the anion exchange technique, the bright photoluminescence could be almost tuned over the entire visible spectral region (450–650 nm). Furthermore, the photoluminescence of the CsPbBr3 nanocrystals was characterized by narrow emission line widths of 15–50 nm and radiative lifetimes of 5–15 ns. Finally, by taking advantage of these outstanding merits, the CsPbBr3 perovskites were successfully utilized in the application of highly fluorescent patterning and color-purity light-emitting diodes.

All-inorganic lead halide perovskite quantum dots (CsPbX3 QDs, X = Cl, Br, I) glass has elicited extensive attention due to its excellent stability. However, the realization of CsPbX3 QDs glasses with a high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) remains a challenging task. In this study, Eu3+ ions act as nucleating agents to promote the formation and crystallization of CsPbBr3 QDs. Rb+ ions further improve the crystallization quality and reduce the defects between CsPbBr3 QDs and the glass interface. The codoping of Eu3+ and Rb+ ions greatly improved the PLQY of CsPbBr3 QDs. The highest PLQY is achieved in the 0.33Rb-2Eu heat-treated at 500 °C–6 h, reaching 54%. Furthermore, among the light-emitting diodes (LEDs) prepared with 1Cs-0Eu, 1Cs-2Eu, or 0.33Rb-2Eu, 0.33Rb-2Eu has the highest color gamut coverage (108.9% of the National Television Standards Committee color gamut and 92.7% of Rec. 2020 color gamut at 20 mA) and the strongest durable high-power driving capability, making it an ideal material for green LEDs.

Via the ligand-assisted reaction, highly luminescent CsPbBr 3 perovskite nanocrystal (PNC) films were synthesized by a simple centrifugal casting process based on the supersaturated recrystallization method. The structure, the optical properties, the morphology, the stability and the potential application of the PNC films were investigated in detail. The results show that under the joint use of OA, DDAB and APTES, the obtained PNC films with 1.5 M DDAB show the strong PL emission with highest quantum yield of 77.5 %, the pure CsPbBr 3 structure, the smooth surface and the enhanced stability under UV irradiation. Additionally, the white LED device based on the PNC films obtained here and a commercial red phosphor layer shows excellent optical and color properties and working stability, demonstrating the potential of the PNC films in this study in the field of light-emitting and display.

Metal halide perovskites (MHPs) are promising materials for radiation detection. Compared with polycrystalline films, single crystals (SCs) have lower defect density, higher carrier mobility, and lifetime. However, the direct synthesis of MHP SCs for large-area flat panel imaging detectors remains challenging. Here, we show that high-quality centimeter-sized CsPbBr3 SCs with thicknesses between 0.25 mm and 1 mm can be grown by a space-confined inverse temperature method. The addition of choline bromide to the precursor solution reduces the defect density and suppresses ion migration of the CsPbBr3 SCs, leading to a high resistivity of 2.5 × 1010 Ω cm and a high mobility-lifetime product of over 1 × 10–3 cm2 V–1. The CsPbBr3 SC spectral detectors exhibit an energy resolution of 14.96% for 241Am 59.5 keV X-ray and 15.95% for 5.48 MeV α-particles. Moreover, a prototype 3 × 3 pixelated detector based on the large-area SC shows a consistent high performance for all pixels, making it promising for high-resolution flat panel imaging detectors.

Birefringent crystals have the ability to modulate polarized light, which has important applications in the field of optoelectronics. Waveplates are important devices in polarization optics to modulate the polarization and phase delay of light over a wide band of wavelength. However, conventional designs of half-wave plates and quarter-wave plates involve multiple birefringent crystals, and the fabrication process is complex and costly. Here, we report the discovery of a multiwavelength (532–785 nm) temperature-controlled phase modulator based on Cs4PbBr6/CsPbBr3 perovskite crystals. It is the crystal lattice expansion that is causing the variation of the birefringence factor of Cs4PbBr6/CsPbBr3 through observing crystal optical properties. The transmitted 633 nm light can be temperature-modulated to achieve the switching of optical polarization states between circularly polarized and linearly polarized states, revealing that the same crystal can switch between the functions of half-wave plates and quarter-wave plates. Other wavelengths of transmitted light can also change optical polarization states through temperature control. Given the versatility of halide perovskite-based crystals, Cs4PbBr6/CsPbBr3 crystals offer a promising approach for producing waveplates and other optical devices at a lower cost.

Metal-halide perovskite (MHP) nanocrystals (NCs) have unique advantages in the gas sensing field, but the poor stability restricts their widespread applications. In this work, the CsPbBr 3 @Fe 2 O 3 heterojunction NCs were synthesized successfully by simple solution process and subsequent surface modification strategy for constructing a gas sensor. The Fe 2 O 3 shell layer was obtained through thermal decomposition of acetylacetone iron (AAI) at 400 °C. The resulting CsPbBr 3 @Fe 2 O 3 heterostructured NCs exhibit a higher gas-sensing performance to H 2 S than pure CsPbBr 3 and Fe 2 O 3 , respectively. Upon exposure to 10 ppm H 2 S, the response value of 4.12 was obtained at a moderate working temperature of 350 °C, while the response was fast both in terms of response time and recovery time, i.e. , 1.84 s and 24.20 s, respectively. This might be the best performance for MHP sensors, to the best of our knowledge. The excellent gas-sensitive response might be attributed to the formation of a heterojunction which promotes the electron migration from CsPbBr 3 to Fe 2 O 3 .
