Introduction Ginsenoside compound K (CK) has effects on cell-cycle regulation, tumor growth inhibition, and apoptosis induction. However, it has limited applications in clinical settings because of its low solubility and poor absorption. Methods To overcome these limitations, we aimed to develop a mixed micellar system composed of phosphatidylcholine (PC) and 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine polyethylene glycol 2000 (DSPE PEG 2000; DP). CK encapsulated in PC/DP mixed micelles had enhanced solubility, permeability, and retention effects. Results Compared to free CK, the CK PC/DP micellar system exhibited improved anticancer effects in vitro, including cell-cycle arrest, apoptosis, and anti-invasion in human lung carcinoma A549 cells. The significant proapoptotic effect was reflected by increased chromosomal condensation, annexin V/propidium iodide staining, and related protein expression. In vitro cellular uptake and optical mouse imaging in vivo suggested that the improved antitumor effect was caused primarily by enhanced uptake and tumor targeting. Furthermore, an in vivo antitumor efficacy study indicated that the CK mixed micelles significantly inhibited tumor growth, thereby decreasing tumor volume at the end of the experiment as compared with that in the control mice. Histological analysis confirmed the antitumor effect with low toxicity. Conclusion The PC/DP micellar system was an effective drug delivery system for CK in tumor therapy.

Two pure borophosphates microporous materials, K[ZnBP 2 O 8 ] and NH 4 [ZnBP 2 O 8 ], have been synthesized and characterized by XRD, FT-IR, DTA-TG techniques and chemical analysis. The molar enthalpies of solution of K[ZnBP 2 O 8 ](s) and NH 4 [ZnBP 2 O 8 ](s) in 3 mol · dm −3 HCl(aq), of KCl/NH 4 Cl(s) in (HCl + H 3 BO 3 )(aq), and of Zn(PO 3 ) 2 (s) in (HCl + H 3 BO 3 + KCl/NH 4 Cl)(aq) were measured by microcalorimeter at T = 298.15 K, respectively. With the incorporation of the previously determined enthalpy of solution of H 3 BO 3 (s) in 3 mol · dm −3 HCl(aq), together with the use of the standard molar enthalpies of formation for Zn(PO 3 ) 2 (s), KCl(s), NH 4 Cl(s), H 3 BO 3 (s) and H 2 O(l), the standard molar enthalpies of formation of −(3184.0 ± 1.2) kJ · mol −1 for K[ZnBP 2 O 8 ] and −(3067.6 ± 1.2) kJ · mol −1 for NH 4 [ZnBP 2 O 8 ] at T = 298.15 K was obtained on the basis of the appropriate thermochemical cycles.

ABSTRACT A new type of lead-free perovskite Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 nanocrystal (NCs) was synthesized by thermal injection method at 190 °C, according to X-ray diffraction and theoretical analysis, the Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 NCs belongs to the monoclinic system C12/c1. We report for the first time that the luminescence intensity of broad-peak-emitting Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 is significantly improved by doping with K + , and the full-width at half maximum (FWHM) of sample Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 :0.2K + is 124 nm. Herein, the stability of Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 :xK was monitored and found to have excellent environmental stability, thermal stability, and photostability. In addition, Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 :0.2K was coated outside Sr 2 MgSi 2 O 7 :Eu 2+ ,Dy 3+ (SMS) to form a core-shell structure composite material Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 :0.2K + /SMS@SiO 2 and achieved fine tuning of the afterglow color. This work increases the luminescence intensity of Cs 3 Bi 2 Br 9 by ion doping and exhibits excellent stability, in addition to the cladding of lead-free perovskites with long afterglow materials provides a new application strategy for lead-free perovskites.

Constructing artificial SEI (ASEI) is an effective method to suppress dendrite growth and achieve a stable solid electrolyte interphase in a potassium metal anode. However, traditional methods for preparing ASEI still have some problems such as poor adhesion and inadequate/uneven reactions. These drawbacks significantly impede ion diffusion kinetics and the effectiveness of dendrite inhibition. In this study, an in situ reaction approach was introduced to fabricate a Fe-based protective layer on the surface of K via the spontaneous dynamic chemical reaction between Fe3O4 and K. The in situ-formed Fe-based artificial protective layer not only prevents the corrosion of the carbonate electrolyte, but also has high potassiophilicity and high ionic conductivity, which can reduce side reactions, regulate the uniform adsorption of K+, and improve the transport kinetics of K+, thus inhibiting the growth of potassium metal dendrites. With the Fe-based protective layer, the symmetric cell demonstrates a cycling stability exceeding 1700 h at 0.5 mA cm–2 and 0.5 mAh cm–2. Notably, it also exhibits a promising cycling stability and rate performance when paired with a Prussian blue (PB) cathode. This work offers insights into the development of protection layers for an advanced alkali metal anode.

The pure phase and ultrafine WB 2 powders were successfully synthesized using a liquid phase precursor synergized with boro/carbothermal reduction method. Subsequently, dense WB 2 -SiC composites (99.5%) were fabricated through hot pressing sintering. The effects of La 2 O 3 additive on the densification, mechanical properties, and ablation resistance of WB 2 -SiC composites were systematically investigated. The ablation behavior of the composites was evaluated using a plasma flame. The results indicate that the mass ablation rate of WB 2 -SiC-La 2 O 3 is 0.463 mg/s, and the linear ablation rate is 0.311 μm/s when exposed to a 2273 K plasma flame for 60 s. The excellent ablation resistance is attributed to the reaction between La 2 O 3 and SiO 2 at high temperature, which generates La 2 Si 2 O 7 , effectively pinned in the glassy phase to inhibit the volatilization of B 2 O 3 . Furthermore, La 2 O 3 also reacts with B 2 O 3 and SiO 2 to generate a highly viscous B-Si-O-La protective layer, which blocks the ingress of oxygen.

Compared with propane dehydrogenation (PDH) technology, oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of propane is an effective way to break through the thermodynamic constraints, which has changed the endothermic reaction into exothermic. Meanwhile, coking in PDH was significantly reduced by the presence of an oxidant in ODH of propane. Therefore, ODH of propane has attracted wide interest and has been studied in recent years. However, the contradiction between the conversion of propane and the selectivity of propene was the intrinsic problem of ODH of propane that required further study. In this work, a novel aluminum/potassium-doped mixed metal oxide catalyst Mo 1 V 0.5 Al 0.02 K 0.03 O x was synthesized using a simple co-impregnation method, whose selectivity for propene (83.2 %) and conversion of propane (12.7 %) at 300 °C were the best among all other alkali metal/alkaline-earth metal-doped catalysts. The further discussion illustrated that doping potassium and alumina could synergistically adjust the density of acid sites on the catalyst, establishing an equilibrium between high propane conversion and the ideal propene selectivity. After modification, the density of Brønsted acid decreased, leading to an enhancement in the selectivity of propene. Simultaneously, the addition of steam in the feed gas promotes propene to oxygenates and improves the conversion of propane under the condition of constant contact time.

Covalent-organic-framework (COF) materials with a designable periodic framework have been expected as a kind of promising anode material for potassium ion batteries (PIBs). However, these materials suffer seriously from low capacity, poor rate performance, and slow reaction kinetics during the K-storage process, significantly limiting their widespread applications. Herein, a three-dimensional (3D) COF material denoted as CN-COF with a high N content and defined configuration as well as a graphite-like layer stacking structure was developed as a promising anode to realize efficient 3D K-storage performance with enhanced interfacial stability and reaction kinetics via an electrolyte chemistry compatibility strategy. Particularly, a uniform and stable solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) with rich inorganic components was controllably formed in the optimized high-concentration THF-based electrolyte (HTE), ensuring satisfactory cycling stability as well as rapid diffusion kinetics. As a result, the synthesized CN-COF material in this optimized electrolyte delivered a high reversible capacity of 385.8 mAh/g at 50 mA/g, and a well-maintained 95.3 mAh/g after 1500 cycles at 500 mA/g. This work provides innovative design and manipulation of the K-storage mechanism via the synergistic effect between nanostructure design and electrolyte chemistry for advanced K-storage materials.

The emerging photocatalytic production of hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) using graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) has attracted a lot of attention for its potential applications in various fields. However, However, the catalytic activity of pure g-C 3 N 4 is still limited. Herein, Bi, K co-doped g-C 3 N 4 (Bi x K y -CN) was prepared by co-thermal polymerization of a mixture of potassium nitrate, bismuth nitrate, melamine, and urea. The obtained Bi 3.6 K 3 -CN composite possesses more negative conduction and valence band positions that can, to some extent, enhance photocatalytic performance by lowering the energy barrier of redox reactions and by enhancing electron absorption capacity. Additionally, the pyrolysis process of the potassium nitrate and bismuth nitrate has a considerable impact on the formation of the morphology of g-C 3 N 4 , generating a porous lamellar-structure with nitrogen defects, resulting in increased oxygen adsorption and utilization capacity. These synergistic effects enable Bi 3.6 K 3 -CN to exhibit excellent photocatalytic activity and cycling stability for H 2 O 2 production. After 3 hours of visible light irradiation, the production of H 2 O 2 catalyzed by Bi 3.6 K 3 -CN can reach 1207.72 μmol L -1 , which is 57 times higher than that of pure g-C 3 N 4 .

Conductive polymers are recognized as ideal candidates for the development of noninvasive and wearable sensors for real-time monitoring of potassium ions (K + ) in sweat to ensure the health of life. However, the low ion-to-electron transduction efficiency and limited active surface area hamper the development of high-performance sensors for low-concentration K + detection in the sweat. Herein, a wearable K + sensor is developed by tailoring the nanostructure of polypyrrole (PPy), serving as an ion-to-electron transduction layer, for accurately and stably tracing the K + fluctuation in human sweat. The PPy nanostructures can be tailored from nanospheres to nanofibers by controlling the supramolecular assembly process during PPy polymerization. Resultantly, the ion-to-electron transduction efficiency (17-fold increase in conductivity) and active surface area (1.3-fold enhancement) are significantly enhanced, accompanied by minimized water layer formation. The optimal PPy nanofibers-based K + sensor achieved a high sensitivity of 62 mV decade −1 , good selectivity, and solid stability. After being integrated with a temperature sensor, the manufactured wearable sensor realized accurate monitoring of K + fluctuation in the human sweat.

In an effort to obtain a novel cyan-emitting phosphor, the [K 1-x Rb x ] 3 GdSi 2 O 7 : yCe 3+ materials (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, y = 0, 0.005, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04) are synthesized via a solid-state reaction pathway, and their crystal structure and luminescence behaviors are studied systematically. The chemical substitution of Rb + in the K + sites can enlarge the K 3 GdSi 2 O 7 host lattice and help to the blue-shifting of emission band of Ce 3+ ions due to the decreased crystal field splitting effect. It is also confirmed that the Ce 3+ ions tend to enter [Gd1O 6 ] and [Gd 2 O 6 ] polyhedrons simultaneously. Consequently, the [K 0.7 Rb 0.3 ] 3 GdSi 2 O 7 : Ce 3+ phosphor yields a broadband cyan emission centered at 492 nm with the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of ∼115 nm upon 365 nm excitation. The optimal concentration of Ce 3+ dopant is determined to be 0.01, and the concentration quenching effect can be attributed to the dipole−dipole interactions. The white light emitting diode (WLED) device fabricated by employing the discovered [K 0.7 Rb 0.3 ] 3 GdSi 2 O 7 : 0.01Ce 3+ phosphor displays a high color rendering index (R a = 91.7) and a low correlated color temperature (CCT = 3749 K). This work may promote the development of cyan phosphors for near ultraviolet-converted WLEDs with high performance.

In this work, the nanocables of few-layered ReS 2 nanosheets sandwiched between carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and nitrogen-doped amorphous carbon (NC) coating (i.e., CNT@ReS 2 @NC) are synthesized as high-performance anodes of both potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) and sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). The CNT@ReS 2 @NC nanocables with dual carbon modifications have the several advantages for efficient K + /Na + storage. The few-layered ReS 2 nanosheets with a wide interlayer spacing of 0.64 nm contribute to accelerated reaction kinetics for fast K + /Na + intercalation/extraction. The carbon nanotube skeleton with a hollow interior can effectively relieve the volume change and serve as a robust conductive network to boost structural stability . The NC layer provides rich defects as active sites and suppresses the shuttle effect of polysulfides produced in discharge/charge processes. Consequently, the CNT@ReS 2 @NC nanocables possess outstanding electrochemical performance in both PIBs and SIBs owing to the synergistic effect from the different components. A long cycling lifespan of 3500 cycles with a maintained discharge capacity of 125 mAh/g is achieved for CNT@ReS 2 @NC at 1 A/g in PIBs. In SIBs, it can keep a high capacity of 202 mAh/g over 3000 cycles at 5 A/g. Moreover, the CNT@ReS 2 @NC||Na 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 full cell can exhibit remarkable cycling performance, yielding a low capacity decay rate of 0.019 % per cycle over 1000 cycles at 2C.

Next-generation flexible electronics, such as flexible sensors and stretchable displays, have propelled the crucial dielectric elastomers to feature highly comprehensive properties, including superior stretchability, dielectric constant, and transparency. Although incorporating fillers effectively enhances the dielectric constant, traditional solid fillers often introduce issues of rigidity and opacity. Recently, liquid fillers are reported to circumvent these challenges due to their inherent softness and transparency. However, concerns regarding leakage due to the fluid nature of liquids persist. Herein, an ionic gel filler embedded in an elastomer (IGBDE) is introduced, which achieves a high dielectric constant of 14.3. The gel fillers retain the softness and transparency of liquids, thereby enabling IGBDE to achieve a high transmittance of 90% and elongation of 788%. Moreover, the solid form avoids the leakage issue. The resulting alternating current electroluminescent (ACEL) devices show an 11.5-fold enhancement in luminance compared to commercial elastomer-based devices, achieving a luminance of 547.5 cd m −2 with an elongation up to 500%. Furthermore, IGBDE can also serve as a sensor to monitor strain changes. The use of ionic gel fillers merges the advantages of solid and liquid states, offering significant potential to advance the development of flexible electronic devices.
