The development of porous films with biodegradability, high electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, and thermal conducting performance for advanced electronics is urgent. Herein, a superthin and flexible film composed of PBAT/MWCNT and PEDOT:PSS/PEO/SWCNT is fabricated through combining electrospinning and spin-coating. In this work, the content of PEO and SWCNT should be controlled to 1 and 10 wt % for achieving the optimal layered-cavity structure within the film, guaranteeing the proper flow ability of the suspension. The robustly constructed layered-cavity structure within the film allows the electromagnetic waves to suffer multiple reflections, which enhances the EMI shielding performance. Meanwhile, the structure also plays an important role in promoting the electric and heat conduction of the film. Consequently, the film with a thickness of 0.14 mm exhibits the most optimal EMI shielding efficiency (SE) of 26.02 dB, electrical conductivity of 40.371 S/m, and thermal diffusion coefficient of 0.124 mm2/s. The EMI SE/thickness is about 185.86 dB/mm, attaining a cutting-edge level compared to reported polymer-based films. Besides, the PEO or SWCNT content should be controlled, and the two-side spin-coating is also needed for thicker films. This work offers a method to develop superthin biodegradable films with excellent performance, positioning it as a strong alternative for flexible electronics.

The environmental stability, water-processibility and life-span of black phosphorene (BP) severely limit the application of its electronic devices in aqueous system containing oxygen. We reported the controllable preparation of in-situ reduction and deposition of silver nanoparticles on the BP surface and its amino-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (NH 2 -MWCNT) nanocomposite . With the addition of both NH 2 -MWCNT and Ag + , the BP-based nanocomposite was prepared by ultrasonic-assisted liquid-phase exfoliation and was dispersed in carboxymethyl cellulose sodium (CMC) aqueous solution. The morphology, microstructure, and electrochemical properties of the nanohybrid were characterized. NH 2 -MWCNT-BP-AgNPs showed high environmental stability, good water-processibility, satisfactory life-spans, superior electrocatalytic capacity with enzyme-like kinetic characteristics. The nanohybrid was applied as electrochemical sensors for single/simultaneous analysis of uric acid (UA), xanthine (XT) and hypoxanthine (HX). Excellent voltammetric responses for simultaneous determination in linear ranges of 0.1–800 μM with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.052 μM for UA, 0.5–680 μM with a LOD of 0.021 μM for XT, and 0.7–320 μM with a LOD of 0.025 μM for HX under optimal conditions. Besides, the developed nanozyme sensor was employed for simultaneous voltammetric analysis of UA, XT and HX in real samples with acceptable recoveries. This work will provide theoretical guidance and experimental support for the preparation and application of two-dimensional materials, nanozymes and sensing devices.

J- and H-aggregates of zinc tetraphenylporphyrin (ZnTPP) on carbon nanotube films (CNTFs) were prepared using the mixed solvent method. This resulted in completely different structures, such as the four-leaf clover and flower, on the CNTF, which were observed by recording SEM images. Characteristic changes in the electronic spectra of the ZnTPP monomer appeared when it underwent J- and H-aggregation. The measured photocurrent significantly varied for the same molecule when it was aggregated in two different ways on ITO and ITO/CNTF. The electron recombination resistance of the two aggregates, which was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, was also different. The photocatalytic efficiency of the J- and H-aggregates was examined by performing methylene blue dye decoloration studies. In addition, a scanning electrochemical microscope was used to investigate the photoinduced charge transfer kinetics of the J- and H-aggregates at the electrode/electrolyte interface as a fresh attempt. The heterogeneous charge transfer constants for the J- and H-aggregates in the presence of light at varied intensities were calculated. Thereby, striking differences in the photophysical, photocatalytic, and photoelectrochemical properties of the J- and H-aggregates were visualized throughout our studies.

Flexible electronics have demonstrated various strategies to enhance the sensory ability for tactile perception and wearable physiological monitoring. Fibrous microstructures have attracted much interest because of their excellent mechanical properties and fabricability. Herein, a structurally robust fibrous mat was first fabricated by electrospinning, followed by a sequential process of functionalization utilizing ultrasonication treatment and in situ polymerization growth. Electrospun polyurethane (PU) microfibers were anchored with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) to form conductive paths along each fiber by a scalable ultrasonic cavitation treatment in an MWCNT suspension. After, a layer of poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene) (PEDOT) was grown on the surface of PU fibers decorated with MWCNTs to enhance the conductive conjunctions of MWCNTs. Due to the superior electromechanical behaviors and mechanical reinforcement of PEDOT, the PEDOT/MWCNT@PU mat-based device exhibits a wide working range (0–70 kPa), high sensitivity (1.6 kPa −1 ), and good mechanical robustness (over 18,000 cycles). The PEDOT/MWCNT@PU mat-based sensor also demonstrates a good linear response to different temperature variations because of the thermoelectricity of the PEDOT/MWCNT composite. This novel strategy for the fabrication of multifunctional fibrous mats provides a promising opportunity for future applications for high-performance wearable devices.

The urgent need for precise quantification of a crucial prognostic tumor marker, a human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2), is of paramount importance for health institutions in screening, diagnosis, and the therapeutic trip of breast cancer. A conspicuous analysis of the extracellular domain of the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2-ECD) was conducted using a sandwich electrochemical immunosensing assay on nanomaterial-modified screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) surfaces. The SPCEs modified with carboxylated multiwalled carbon nanotubes combined with Fe/Cu bimetallic 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid metal-organic frameworks loaded with AgNPs as a sensing platform for carrying capture antibody. The antibody-antigen interaction was identified utilizing horseradish peroxidase (HRP) conjugated detection antibody and 3,3’,5,5’-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) as the enzymatic substrate. The structural, compositional, and morphological properties of synthesized nanomaterials were characterized by ( FT.IR, XRD, EDX, and FESEM ), before evaluating the analytical performance. The electrochemical signals were obtained by cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, and square wave voltammetry. Linear calibration plots were generated between 20 and 200 pg/mL, and limits of detection (LODs) were identified to be of 5.5 pg/mL, 5.65 pg/mL, and 3.96 pg/mL (for CV, DPV, and SWV), respectively, all much below the defined cut-off value of 15 ng/mL for this cancer biomarker. An immunosensor that had been designed expressly for the purpose of detecting the tumor marker in serum was utilized in order to conduct an experimental evaluation of the procedure’s effectiveness.

Palmitic acid (PA) is a kind of saturated high fatty acid, which is involved in physiological safety and food quality. A surface molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) electrochemical sensor was prepared on MXene surface using dopamine (DA) as functional monomer. The electrode was modified with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), ferrocene-graphene oxide-multiwalled carbon nanotubes (Fc-GO-MWCNT) composite to enhance the electroactive area and conductivity. The sensor was characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and Differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), respectively. The parameters concerning this assay and various regeneration conditions have been carefully studied. The sensor can detect PA in the range of 1 nM-1 mM (R 2 = 0.995), the limit of detection (LOD) is 0.48 nM (S/N = 3), and the limit of quantification (LOQ) is 1.61 nM. The artificial neural network (ANN) model in machine learning is further used to analyze the data collected by the sensor. The results show that the back propagation (BP) neural network in ANN is more suitable for the intelligent analysis of PA. The practicality of the sensor was confirmed by detecting PA in pork samples. This is the first MIP-based electrochemical sensor for PA, and it has great potential in practical applications.

Micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) with thick interdigital microelectrodes of carbon-based materials exhibit excellent electrochemical performance and hold tremendous promise for applications in microscale energy storage devices. Here, a scalable strategy to fabricate thick embedded multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as interdigital microelectrodes for MSCs has been developed and investigated. To this end, sufficient MWNCT inks are firstly cast onto pre-patterned microcavity surfaces and then more MWCNT materials are embedded into the microcavities by rapid solvent evaporation. After removal of residual materials from the surfaces by a doctor-blading process, thick interdigital MWCNT microelectrodes with heights up to 190 μm are obtained. These embedded microelectrodes simplify the device structure and improve the mechanical flexibility by acting as both active materials and current collectors. Using interdigital microelectrodes with a width of 250 μm and an interspace of 50 μm, the fabricated MSCs exhibit outstanding electrochemical performance with a high capacitance of 19.5 mF cm−2 and an energy density of 2.48 μW h cm−2 at a power density of 24.7 μW cm−2. On the other hand, four light emitting diodes (LEDs) are successfully powered by three series of MSCs, indicating that MSCs can be connected in series and parallel to yield suitable operating voltages and currents for practical applications.

An amino-modified multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) solid-phase extraction-based hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (HILIC–MS/MS) method was developed for simultaneous determination of 13 paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs) in bivalve mollusks. Shellfish samples were extracted with 1% acetic acid followed by cleanup using optimized MWCNT-NH2 based solid-phase extraction. Absorbed PSTs were eluted with 2 mL 1% acetic acid–acetonitrile (70/30, v/v). The separation was performed on a Waters BEH Amide column within 7.5 min utilizing 0.1% formic acid–acetonitrile and 2 mM ammonium acetate containing 0.1% formic acid as the mobile phase. The analytes were quantified by matrix-matched external standard curves with correlation coefficients® exceeding 0.997 acquired in multiple reaction-monitoring mode. The limits of detection and quantitation in shellfish samples were from 2.76 to 9.8 μg/kg and 9.11 to 39.3 μg/kg, respectively. Recoveries at three spiked levels ranged from 71.4% to 97.8% with relative standard deviations less than 12.6%. The developed method was satisfactorily applied to the analysis of shellfish.

Catalytic membranes that enable simultaneous micropollutant degradation during oil/water separation have emerged as a promising candidate for treating complex emulsified oily wastewater. However, this hybrid system suffers from membrane fouling and subsequent radical quenching. Herein, we overcome these challenges by developing a novel hierarchical filtration-catalysis ceramic membrane to achieve efficient gradient decontamination. This membrane comprises a top hydrophilic MWCNT layer deposited on a CuFe2O4-immobilized ceramic membrane to construct CCuFeCM. A pristine ceramic membrane (CM) and a CuFe2O4-immobilized membrane (CuFeCM) served as controls. Our results demonstrated that CCuFeCM presents the most alleviated fouling potential (∼18% of flux decline) and TOC removal (91%) when treating synthetic textile wastewater containing a mineral oil-in-water emulsion with RhB. Besides that, CCuFeCM achieves the highest PMS-based RhB degradation capability (100%) and initial reaction rate (0.684 min–1). Quenching experiments and EPR analyses show that SO4–•, •OH, and 1O2 are responsible for the CCuFeCM/PMS oxidation system, and 1O2 is the dominant reactive species. The synergistic effect of oil separation and catalytic decomposition is mainly ascribed to the ordered arrangement of selective separation in advance to avoid interference with subsequent AOPs, which allows for micropollutants that are transmitted into internal membrane channels for confined catalytic oxidation. Furthermore, replication filtration tests indicate that CCuFeCM shows durable stable degradation and antifouling performance after simple cleaning. The specific functionality of oil isolation, catalyst anchor, and mass transfer effect reaction compartmentation provides a novel strategy for efficient gradient removal of multiple pollutants in water, which highlights promising application potential under realistic conditions.

A sensitive and efficient magnetic amino modified multi-walled carbon nanotubes (m-MWCNT-NH2)-based magnetic dispersive solid-phase extraction (m-dSPE) coupled with hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (HILIC-MS/MS) strategy is reported for the simultaneous determination of 13 paralytic shellfish toxins (PSTs) in bivalve mollusks. The samples were extracted twice with 1% acetic acid and purified using optimized m-dSPE procedures with Fe3O4 coated MWCNT-NH2 composites as magnetic adsorbents. The adsorbed PSTs on the m-MWCNT-NH2 adsorbents were separated using a Ni-coated neodymium magnet and subsequently eluted with 2 mL water–acetonitrile–acetic acid (80:20:1, v/v/v) and analyzed by HILIC-MS/MS. The correlation coefficients (r) of the targeted toxins obtained in matrix-matched external standard curves were from 0.997 to 0.999. The PSTs were acquired and quantified in the multiple reaction-monitoring mode and the limits of detection and quantitation in bivalve mollusks were 1.10 to 4.51 μg/kg and 3.67 to 13.5 μg/kg, respectively. Spiked recoveries at three concentrations in negative samples were from 73.4% to 92.5% with precision less than 10.6%. The method validation was in accordance with 2002/657/EC guidelines and method application in commercial bivalve mollusk samples. The developed method was rapid, convenient and economical for the determination of the targeted toxins.
