Electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials have attracted intensive attention with the increased electromagnetic pollution, which are required to possess high transparency and flexibility for applications in visualization windows, aerospace equipment, and wearable devices. However, it remains a challenge to achieve high-performance EMI shielding while maintaining excellent light transmittance. Herein, a sandwich composite is constructed by coating the core material of transparent wood (TW) with silver nanowire (AgNW)@MXene, exhibiting a maximum transmittance of 28.8% in the visible range and a longitudinal tensile strength of 47.8 MPa. The average EMI shielding effectiveness can reach up to 44.0 dB under X-band (8–12.4 GHz), ascribed to the increased absorption shielding induced by the multireflection of electromagnetic waves within microchannels of the TW layer and the interfacial polarization between AgNW and MXene. Simultaneously, large-scale EMI shielding films can be conveniently produced by our proposed method, which provides inspiration for the development of advanced EMI shielding materials for wide applications.

To date, it has been challenging for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials undergoing external mechanical stimuli containing stretching, bending, or large deformations to maintain excellent EMI shielding effectiveness and long-term structural stability. At the same time, EMI shielding materials require high shielding effectiveness and low reflection, reducing secondary pollution of electromagnetic waves. Herein, porous core–shell polyurethane (PU) fibers featuring a rich porous microstructure are prepared by coaxial wet spinning, with elastic elongation capacity exceeding 1500%. This work explores a porous core–shell PU fiber substrate by loading silver nanowires (AgNWs), forming an interconnected conductive network in the PU fiber matrix. The resultant composite is stable, successfully achieved through the thermal adhesion of PU nanofibers between the AgNW functional layer and the PU substrate layer. The composite (500 mg of PU fiber substrate) loading of 36 mg of AgNWs results in the EMI shielding efficiency of 39.41 dB. While it is stretched under 10% deformation, its EMI shielding efficiency exceeds 23.14 dB. Even if electromagnetic waves are randomly incident from both sides of the composite, it maintains excellent EMI shielding performance. In summary, this type of composite with excellent EMI shielding performance can be used in applications where flexibility, lightweight, and bendable conditions are the primary requirements.

Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG), originated from mechano-driven Maxwell’s displacement current, has shown great significance in harvesting low-frequency/high-entropy mechanical energy. To improve the electrical performances of TENG, surface engineering offers a facile and economical method by introducing electron donating/withdrawing groups. Here, we demonstrate a self-assembled monolayer (SAM)-assisted surface engineering strategy on AgNWs based transparent conductive film for TENG and self-powered pressure sensor. The SAM-assisted surface engineering provides an efficient means to tuning the surface potential and charge density of the friction layer by decorating different chemical functional groups. The chemical properties of decorated SAMs and their influence on TENG outputs are systematically investigated. The modified TENG exhibits an improved output performance (including open-circuit voltage of 300 V, short-circuit current of 23 μA, peak power of 1.24 mW, and power density of 1.4 W/m 2 ), which can be readily used to drive commercial portable electronics. Furthermore, the modified TENG can be utilized as a self-powered pressure sensor with high sensitivity (221 V·kPa −1 ) and constructed into a pressure sensor array (4 × 4 pixels) for trajectory tracking. This work presents a universal method to tuning the electrical performance of TENGs and extends their potential applications toward low-power-consuming, highly sensitive, and multifunctional sensory devices and systems.

Ultrathin SnO 2 shell deposited on AgNWs via spray-dip process forms stable core-shell mitigating bare AgNWs instability. • Ag-SnO 2 heterojunction enhances interfacial polarization loss, balancing 88% transparency (550 nm) and 25.2 dB EMI shielding. • Composite maintains function after 1000 bends (5 mm radius) and low IR emissivity ∼0.2 for passive thermal management. The rapid development of flexible and transparent electronic devices, such as wearable devices and smart windows, requires thin films with high optical transmittance, effective EMI shielding, and low infrared emissivity. Although silver nanowires (AgNWs) possess excellent electrical conductivity and optical transparency, their practical application is limited by poor environmental stability, especially under oxidative and sulfidizing conditions. To overcome this limitation, a transparent and flexible AgNW@SnO 2 core-shell film is developed through a scalable solution-based spray-dip process. The key novelty lies in directly spraying AgNW networks onto PET substrates, followed by simple solution dipping to form a SnO 2 -derived protective shell, avoiding vacuum deposition, high-temperature treatment, and complex multistep processing. The SnO 2 shell protects AgNWs from environmental degradation and forms Ag-SnO 2 heterointerfaces, which enhance interfacial polarization and electromagnetic wave attenuation. Under optimized conditions, the film exhibits 88% transmittance at 550 nm, an EMI shielding effectiveness of 25.2 dB, low infrared emissivity of approximately 0.2, excellent stability under elevated temperatures and H 2 S exposure, and mechanical durability after more than 1000 bending cycles. This work integrates process simplicity, environmental durability, transparent EMI shielding, infrared stealth, and mechanical flexibility in the AgNW@SnO 2 film, offering a low-cost and industrially compatible route for scalable transparent EMI shielding materials. In the view of sustainable development and environmental protection, degradable agricultural films with on-demand thermal insulation properties have attracted growing research interest in the last few decades due to the deteriorating environment and extreme climate on the growth and existence of crops. Here, a general strategy has been developed to fabricate degradable silver nanowires modified cellulose (AgNW/cellulose) hybrid film with controllable thermal insulation and antibacterial properties by using plant cellulose and AgNWs as building blocks, PVA and PEG as film forming solvent, as well as their agriculture application. The results show that the AgNWs are evenly dispersed in the three-dimensional grid of cellulose, that they form a film that can withstand a certain tensile force and have good thermal stability. Due to the excellent electrical conductivity, the AgNW/cellulose hybrid films can provide excellent Joule heating, generating rapid thermal response and uniform electrical heating at a low supply voltage of 3 V. In the antibacterial tests against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, the AgNW/cellulose hybrid films exhibited large diameters of inhibition zones, revealing the high antibacterial activity. Additionally, the AgNW/cellulose hybrid films showed highly stretchable behavior by delivering a breaking strain of 1.5% with a tensile stress of 0.45 MPa owing to the cross-linked structures of cellulose and AgNWs. Based on the above properties, this study not only provides a potential strategy for the fabrication of flexible and biodegradable agricultural films but also may provide new insights for agricultural thermal management.

Addressing severe signal crosstalk, complex multi-layer stacking, and weak film-substrate interfacial adhesion remains a critical bottleneck for the practical deployment of flexible multimodal electronic skins. Herein, we report the rational design and scalable, fully printed fabrication of a structurally decoupled, single-layer 4 × 6 dual-modal tactile sensing array. By precisely tailoring the physical rheology and spatial dispersion of an MXene/AgNW/PVP composite ink, the macromolecular PVP network provides robust interfacial adhesion to the flexible substrate and steric stabilization against nanomaterial agglomeration. Concurrently, the 1D AgNWs bridge the 2D MXene flakes to construct a resilient intercalated network, completely eradicating the drying-induced microcracking typical of pristine MXene films. This interface-engineered composite enables a single continuous electrode layer to function simultaneously as a capacitive pressure-sensing matrix and an intrinsic thermistor. The sensor delivers a pressure sensitivity of 1.1 kPa –1 in the 0–100 kPa range, a linear temperature sensitivity of 0.18% ° C –1 , a response time of 35 ms, and stable operation over 10,000 loading cycles. By combining the physical microstructural isolation of the solid array units with a bivariate linear-regression decoupling algorithm, the inter-modal force-thermal cross-interference is reduced to below 1%. Using the decoupled spatial matrices, a Support Vector Machine (SVM) model recognizes complex thermo-mechanical targets with an accuracy of 96.8%. Furthermore, the conformable array enables continuous, noninvasive epidermal pulse-wave and temperature monitoring, providing an integrated material-to-system approach for smart wearable healthcare and artificial prosthetics.

Electromagnetic waves endanger precision instruments and human health, driving the demand for multifunctional flexible transparent conductive films (FTCFs) with integrated electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding and electric heating to ensure reliable microelectronic performance in extreme environments beyond conventional materials’ limits. However, current FTCFs based on carbon nanomaterials, metal nanowires, or 2D materials still suffer from insufficient oxidation resistance, weak adhesion to substrates, and performance degradation under complex conditions, limiting their practical deployment. To address these, we designed the films, which involved constructing silver nanowire/carbon nanotubes/silver nanoparticle (AgNW/CNT@Ag) conductive networks on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) via spray and spin coating, followed by transferring them into glycerol-modified, sodium alginate (SA)-poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) composite layers. This structure leverages AgNPs grafted on CNTs, forming resistor-capacitor-like configurations to enhance EMI shielding via improved electromagnetic wave absorption. The embedded design, combined with CNT coverage over AgNW, strengthens the adhesion and oxidation resistance by blocking oxygen. Additionally, SA-induced surface wrinkles boost conductivity and wave reflection, while the conductive network enables efficient Joule heating. The resulting film exhibits performance: 9.46 Ω/sq sheet resistance @ 57.7% transmittance, a figure-of-merit (FoM) of 6.31, an EMI shielding effectiveness of 31.42 dB, a saturation temperature of 93.1 °C at 6 V, a relative resistance change (RRC) of 0.92 after 60 oxidation cycles, and an RRC of 0.36 after 1000 bending cycles. This work provides a promising structural design and material strategy for FTCFs, advancing their commercialization in multifunctional electronic applications.

Achieving directly printed patterns that are conductive, stretchable, and high-resolution is critical for the scalable manufacturing of wearable electronics, but the competing demands of these properties make it an unresolved challenge. Here, we present a one-step fabrication strategy that overcomes these conflicts using a rationally designed silver nanowire (AgNW)/emulsion ink. The thixotropic AgNW-based ink comprises trace hyperbranched molecules as stabilizers and an aqueous polyacrylic emulsion, enabling direct screen-printing of patterns with a fine resolution of 30 µm via a critical stepwise solvent-drying process. This process first allows AgNWs to settle into a percolating conductive network, then triggers the polyacrylic emulsion particles to coalesce and fuse into an elastomeric matrix that semi-embeds the nanowire junctions, thereby establishing an effective mechanism for dissipating strain. The resulting composite electrodes achieve an initial conductivity of up to 1.6×10 4 S cm −1 , remarkable stretchability exceeding 500% strain, and stable electromechanical performance under stretching ( R / R 0 = 2.3 at 100% strain and 6.6 at 200% strain) and over 10000 stretching cycles under 40% strain. Utilizing relatively environmentally friendly solvents, our work provides a scalable, post-treatment-free platform for fabricating high-performance stretchable electrode materials for wearable electronics.

The rapid evolution of intelligent electromagnetic systems has heightened the performance standards for observation windows, driving a demand for flexible, multifunctional, transparent EMI shielding films with robust environmental durability, while current progress remains a significant challenge. In this study, a multifunctional transparent EMI shielding film composed of silver nanowire (AgNW) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with an embedded conductive network was fabricated via a two-step process involving rotational spraying followed by infiltration transfer. The resulting AgNW/PDMS film exhibits high optical transmittance (71.1%) and low sheet resistance (11.3 Ω/sq), combined with average EMI shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) of 30.2 dB in the X-band, 32.6 dB in the Ku-band, and 34.5 dB in the K-band. The synergistic effect of PDMS-induced physical confinement and hydrogen bonding markedly enhances the interfacial adhesion and antioxidant capacity of the transparent shielding film, contributing to the reliability and durability in harsh environments. Simultaneously, the strain-induced reconfiguration of the AgNW network and the resultant adaptive conductivity modulation synergistically enable the film to exhibit exceptional strain-sensing performance and efficient Joule heating functionality. The multifunctional integration clearly demonstrates that transparent shielding films possess significant potential for enabling iterative improvements in observation window systems across aerospace, automotive, and next-generation electronic device applications.

In order to deal with the more complex electromagnetic radiation environment, there is highly desirable to manufacture a high-performance electromagnetic shielding material with excellent electromagnetic shielding efficiency, flexibility, thermal properties, fatigue resistance , and other qualities. In this paper, we fabricated an ultralight, flexible, and heat-resistant poly-m-phenylene isophthalamide (PMIA)/Ag nanowires(AgNWs)/Ni composite nanofiber film via electrospinning, spray coating, and electroless plating . Compared with different AgNWs spraying contents, the highest electromagnetic shielding effectiveness, about 96 dB with a thickness of ∼150 µm, is generated by spraying 33.333 mg/cm 2 AgNWs suspension. Additionally, because of the benefit of the PMIA, this PMIA/AgNW/Ni composite membrane maintains a constant EMI SE value (over 90 dB) after a high-temperature process under 200 °C, which only decreases by 3.33 %. The excellent performance of the material is due to its large porosity and sandwich structure, which can dissipate electromagnetic waves within the material, with only a very small portion of the electromagnetic waves passing through it. Therefore, this material has a potential application for use in diverse harsh settings.

Flexible sensors are attracting tremendous interest in electronic skins and human detection. It is highly desirable yet challenging to incorporate self-healing, high sensitivity, and large stretchability into strain sensors due to their internal contradiction and complex manufacturing process. Herein, we fabricate such a sensor with a unique multiscale conductive layer structure by simply spraying conductive substances to the elastomer with dynamic Diels-Alder (DA) bonds. The multiscale structure consists of 1D semi-embedded silver nanowire (AgNW) and 2D transition metal carbide/carbonitride (MXene) nanosheets. Meanwhile, the AgNW does not merely provide stable conductivity as well as a robust interface bonding with the substrate under considerable strain. While MXene is tightly coated on the AgNW skeleton, the intrinsic brittleness of MXene supports a significant resistance variation when stretching. The obtained sensor can simultaneously achieve highly sensitive, a wide sensitivity range (0.5%∼ 96%), excellent durability, fast response (71 ± 4.9 ms), and relaxation (138 ± 5.8 ms). Interestingly, it can also detect pressure over a wide range (183–2260 kPa) and even withstand human walking and hand touching. Moreover, benefiting from the dynamic and designability crosslink network, the mechanical and electrical properties can be restored. This excellent sensor provides an approach for next-generation wearable electronics.

In the past years, transparent film heaters (TFHs) based on silver nanowires (AgNWs) have attracted much attention because of their high transmittance, excellent flexibility, and great thermal response. In this paper, we fabricated flexible TFHs with a sandwich structure composed of Ga-doped ZnO (GZO) and AgNWs on the colorless polyimide (cPI) substrate. The optimized hybrid film exhibited a sheet resistance of 14.6 Ω sq −1 with a transmittance of 79%. Excellent thermal uniformity and heating stability of TFHs were demonstrated. The thermal response tests of the GZO/AgNW/GZO/cPI TFHs showed high saturation temperature (~ 176 ℃) with low input voltage (~ 6 V), fast response time (~ 15 s), and stable heating performance. These results indicate that the flexible TFHs with a GZO/AgNW/GZO sandwich structure have broad potential applications in flexible electronic devices.
