Considering the heterogeneity of surface sulfidization during the sulfidization flotation process of oxidized copper minerals and the poor economic efficiency of direct flotation using chelating collectors alone, the use of combined collectors is well established in mineral flotation practice. Nevertheless, theoretical studies addressing their application to the flotation of oxidized copper minerals remain limited. In this work, a systematic investigation is conducted into the flotation performance and adsorption characteristics of combined collector potassium butyl xanthate (KBX) and benzohydroxamic acid (BHA) in the sulfidization flotation process of malachite. Micro-flotation experiments indicate that the KBX + BHA markedly improves the flotation recovery of malachite relative to single-collector systems. Adsorption measurements, zeta potential analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), and contact angle measurements indicate that the combined collectors can form stacked adsorption and intercalated adsorption on the surface of sulfidized malachite, resulting in an increased thickness and density of collector adsorption layer. Additional insights obtained from time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) indicate that BHA is predominantly adsorbed on the malachite surface via chelation between its nitrogen-containing functional groups and active copper sites located in unsulfidized or unstable sulfidized regions. The introduction of KBX promotes the adsorption of BHA and interacts with active copper sites in fully sulfidized regions. Consequently, within the combined collector system, BHA and KBX are able to synergistic adsorb onto the sulfidized malachite surface and forming a compact and stable collector adsorption layer, this interaction enhanced surface hydrophobicity, thereby improving floatability of malachite.

In this paper, a highly sensitive electrochemical sensor for the simultaneous detection of tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) and butylhydroxyanisole (BHA) in edible oil was successfully constructed by combining granular nickel/cobalt spinel ferrites (NiFe 2 O 4 -CoFe 2 O 4 ) with yttrium single atom doped carbon nitride (YNC). NiFe 2 O 4 -CoFe 2 O 4 nanocomposites were effectively synthesized through a hydrothermal reaction and high-temperature calcination, exhibiting interconnected electron transfer channels and excellent electrochemical properties. Meanwhile, YNC could provide numerous catalytic sites due to the presence of a yttrium single atom, which maintained outstanding electrical conductivity. The combination of two nanocomposites produced a synergistic effect that enhanced electron transfer ability and electrocatalytic activity, reduced the electron transfer barrier, and significantly improved the current response to the analytes. Under optimal conditions, the detection linear range of TBHQ was 0.5–220 μM with a detection limit of 53 nM, while the detection linear range of BHA was 1–240 μM with a detection limit of 184 nM. Furthermore, tests on actual samples of edible oils yielded recovery rates ranging from 91.0 % to 106.3 %, which suggested that this study could provide an efficient and promising idea for the simultaneous detection of antioxidants in edible oils.

An efficient flotation separation strategy for smithsonite and calcite was established using a ternary collector (ABN) and sodium phytate (SP) at weakly alkaline pH. • Optimized SP-ABN system yields a mixed-ore Zn grade of 36.39% with 62.75% recovery. • XPS, AFM and Zeta potential analyses confirm that SP selectively shields calcite via strong Ca-chelation. • SP forms a dense layer on calcite, effectively blocking the adsorption of the ABN collector via steric hindrance and electrostatic repulsion. This study systematically investigated the selective depression behavior of sodium phytate (SP) in the flotation separation of smithsonite from calcite using an Al-BHA-NaOL collector system (ABN). Although ABN (2.5 × 10 -5 mol/L) exhibited moderate selectivity toward smithsonite under weakly alkaline conditions, calcite remained relatively floatable, resulting in limited separation efficiency. The addition of SP effectively depressed calcite flotation while only slightly influencing smithsonite, thereby significantly improving the separation performance. Under the optimal conditions of pH 8.0 and SP dosage of 21.65 × 10 -6 mol/L, artificial mixed mineral flotation tests produced a concentrate with a Zn grade of 36.39% and Zn recovery of 62.75%. To elucidate the selective depression mechanism, zeta potential measurements, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and contact angle analysis were performed. The results demonstrated preferentially interacted with calcite rather than with smithsonite, resulting in greater changes in surface charge, surface morphology, and hydrophobicity. XPS analysis revealed a significant shift in the Ca 2p 3/2 peak on calcite after SP treatment, whereas the Zn 2p 3/2 peak of smithsonite exhibited only a negligible change, indicating a much stronger interaction between SP and calcite. SP significantly hindered ABN adsorption on calcite, while its influence on collector adsorption on smithsonite remained limited. These findings indicate that SP as an environmentally friendly selective depressant for calcite provides new insights into the selective regulation of carbonate mineral surfaces, offering a promising strategy for the flotation beneficiation of carbonate-associated zinc oxide ores. A novel tri-block copolymer poly(oxopentanoate ethyl methacrylate)-block-poly(pyridyl disulfide ethyl acrylate)-block-poly(ethylene glycol acrylate) [poly(OEMA-b-PDEA-b-PEGA)], retaining active keto groups and pyridyl disulfide (PDS) side functionalities, was synthesized as a drug delivery vehicle using reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization method. One mimic drug pyridine-2-thione (PT) was introduced into the monomer, PDEA for copolymerization. The other mimic drug O-benzylhydroxylamine (BHA) was conjugated with tri-block copolymer via efficient oxime coupling chemistry, followed by the attachment onto graphene via π–π stacking interaction to obtain a graphene/tri-block copolymer composite. 1 H NMR, UV–vis absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), atomic force microscope (AFM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were used to verify the successful step-wise preparation of the tri-block copolymer and drug loaded composite. In vitro release behaviors of BHA and PT from graphene/tri-block copolymer composite via dual drug release mechanisms were investigated. BHA can be released under acid environment, while PT will be released in the presence of reducing agents, such as dithiothreitol (DTT) or glutathione (GSH). It can be envisioned that this novel composite could be exploited as a novel intracellular drug delivery system via dual release mechanisms.

Individualized biological hydroxyapatite (BHA) scaffolds are essential for repairing critical craniomaxillofacial bone defects. Additive manufacturing relies on synthetic hydroxyapatite and biomimetic structures, making the resulting scaffolds inferior to natural bone. A subtractive manufacturing solution is proposed to cut natural bone blocks and then sinter them into BHA scaffolds. However, BHA scaffolds with fragile mechanical performance, fail to maintain scaffold integrity, due to microcracks generated by loss of organics from extracellular matrix (ECM). To preserve natural structure and enhance mechanical properties, ECM-gelatin hydrogel (ECM-Gel) is utilized as a micron-level coating to smooth surface microcracks like a facial mask. ECM-Gel shows potential in regulating blood clot fibrin network which may induce a favorable macrophage-mediated bone regeneration. Therefore, a gelatin hydrogel-masked BHA (G-BHA) scaffold system is developed using crosslinker genipin (2 and 8 mM). ECM-Gel formed a “hybrid layer”, smoothing the micron-level microcracks and enhancing mechanical properties of BHA; it activated platelets to lock blood clot with dense fibrin network, inducing M2 macrophage via a potential endocytosis-macroautophagy-inflammation axis for bone regeneration. In vivo experiments confirmed G-BHA scaffolds promoted ectopic and in situ bone regeneration. Therefore, ECM-gel-masking demonstrates great potential in developing individualized bioauthentic bone scaffolds with favorable blood clot and macrophage-mediated bone regeneration.
