Microstructural relaxation–damping mechanism explains <20 Hz noise attenuation. • Rheo-electrical impedance coupling links strain dissipation and signal stability. • Material–signal co-design framework enables adaptive high-fidelity biosensing. Reliable electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring during daily activities remains challenging due to motion artifacts from body movement and respiration, predominantly below 20 Hz, which distort baseline stability and obscure key ECG waveform features such as the T-wave and ST-segment. Conventional approaches often rely on hardware or algorithmic filtering, which can compromise signal fidelity. Here, we present a viscoelastic conductive hydrogel interface designed to reduce motion-induced interference during ECG acquisition by combining low-frequency mechanical energy dissipation with interfacial electrical stabilization. The hydrogel (PGHM) comprises polyacrylamide (PAAm), gum arabic (GA), hydrolyzed keratin (HK), and MXene, forming a semi-interpenetrating double network that integrates mechanical adaptability with high electrical conductivity. The GA–HK network exhibits a relaxation window at 10-20 Hz, which may contribute to frequency-dependent dissipation of motion-induced mechanical perturbations within the artifact-relevant frequency range, while the MXene percolation network supports continuous charge transport and stable impedance matching at the skin–electrode interface. Additionally, signal processing techniques validated the hydrogel’s performance, resulting in an approximately 12.7 dB improvement in signal-to-noise ratio and better preservation of waveform fidelity under motion, outperforming commercial Ag/AgCl electrodes. This work illustrates a materials–signal co-design framework, offering a generalizable strategy for intrinsic artifact suppression in dynamic, biocompatible bioelectronic interfaces, with potential applications in wearable health monitoring systems. With the advent of an aging society and increasing concern for cardiovascular health, comfortable long-term electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring systems in daily life are much in demand. If the system can give real-time feedback on cardiovascular status and offer timely personalized advice like doctors, it will be beneficial to promote cardiovascular health and alleviate the imbalance of medical resources. Herein, we report a multifunctional, conformal, and air-permeable electronic skin (e-skin) based on MXene-Polyurethane mesh (MPM). When used as ECG electrodes, the e-skin shows ultra-low electrode–skin contact impedance (4.68 kΩ at 1 kHz), high signal-to-noise ratio (16.5 dB), and high breathability (2.1838 kg/m 2 /day), and can be continuously worn for at least 7 days. As a strain sensor, the e-skin exhibits a large measurement range (>40 %) and unique segmental sensitivity (GF = 172.54 in 0 ∼ 18.64 % and 79.38 in 18.64 ∼ 50 %), which is suitable for detecting both subtle and large physiological signals. More significantly, by combining the MPM e-skin with a flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) and a merged convolutional neural network & long-short-term memory (CNN & LSTM) intelligent algorithm, the acquired wearable intelligent e-skin system can realize daily 12-hour 12-lead ECG monitoring with diagnostic accuracy over 99 % for four arrhythmias. These results show that the MPM e-skin has huge potential in multifunctional intelligent healthcare systems. In particular, an intelligent ECG system similar to a “daily doctor” is proposed for daily long-term cardiovascular health monitoring.

Chronic fatigue triggers multi-system symptoms and cognitive impairments, increasing the risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Although the electrocardiogram (ECG) offers real-time, noninvasive detection of physiological abnormalities associated with chronic fatigue, traditional electrodes are susceptible to interference from sweat and motion artifacts, and may cause skin irritation, reducing the accuracy of assessments. Here, we introduce a flexible and long-term sweat-resistant ECG acquisition system. By integrating bio-inspired polydopamine (PDA) hydrogel electrodes with flexible microcircuitry, the system enables unobtrusive, continuous acquisition of heart rate variability (HRV) features for robust fatigue assessment. The developed hydrogel electrode achieves long-term stability (> 30 days), retaining 90% conductivity after 500 mechanical cycles, and demonstrates over 40% improvement in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) under humid conditions. Its excellent mechanical properties, self-adhesion, and light transmittance make it suitable for human-machine interaction, including real-time monitoring of dynamic motion signals, characteristic pulse waveforms, and handwriting trajectory recognition. Furthermore, by integrating flexible microcircuits and robust deep learning algorithms, fatigue assessment can achieve a recognition accuracy of 88.7% and provide early warnings. Through the synergistic integration of bio-adhesion, environmental adaptability, and signal fidelity, the flexible biomimetic ECG acquisition sensor provides strong support for personal health risk assessment, early warning, and precise intervention, thereby promoting the intelligent and personalized development of health management.

During dynamic measurements, single-layer fabric biopotential dry electrodes are prone to slip between the electrode and the skin, resulting in more measurement noise. The double-layer structure of the spacer fabric (SF) reduces the relative slip between the bottom of the electrodes and the skin, and obtains better signal quality. In this study, low-slip, corrosion-resistant ECG signal acquisition electrodes based on double-layer SF were developed by silver plating, chlorination and thiol treatment processes. The effects of electrode structure, chlorination time and thiol treatment time on electrode performance were investigated. Compared with the single-layer fabric, the slip at the bottom of the double-layer SF was reduced by 84.6 % at a pressure of 70 cN and a motion displacement of 10 mm. The corrosion inhibition efficiency of the electrode after the thiol-etching treatment was 70.8 %, and a stable ECG signal could still be obtained after etching with sodium sulfide solution.

Low mechanical properties and easy detachment from the hydration layer at the wet interface of hydrogel limit its application as an adhesive-flexible sensor. In this study, the composition and structure of mussel mucoprotein are replicated using sulfonyl betaine (SBMA) containing zwitterion and N-hydroxyethyl acrylamide to be polymerized in deep eutectic solvents and integrated with a polydopamine network to create a bionic eutectic gel with exceptionally strong and wet adhesion. Water erosion is effectively inhibited by the extensive hydrogen bond and electrostatic interactions. These dynamic bonds also impart self-healing properties to the gel, showing a self-healing efficiency of 55.45% after 48 h healing at room temperature. The zwitterion in SBMA can preferentially react with water to form a hydrated shell to protect the hydrogen bonds and enhance the exceptional water resistance and adhesion of the gel. The peel strength of the gel on a wet substrate is up to 220.71 N m −1 , and its tensile strength can reach 1.01 MPa. It also has good mass stability at both low and high temperatures. This eutectic gel has the potential to be used in flexible electronic devices and can detect human movement and bioelectrical impulses on wet skin with great sensitivity.

The application of electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring in complex environments—such as underwater or under heavy perspiration—remains challenging due to interfacial instability and signal degradation in conventional electrodes. Developing flexible, environment-adaptive materials with cross-media compatibility is crucial for advancing wearable and subaquatic medical devices. Here, we report a novel strategy using aqueous PEDOT dispersion-induced phase separation to fabricate conductive hydrogels with robust underwater functionality. The resulting biphasic structure exhibits exceptional stretchability (up to 2500 % tensile strain), strong adhesion (40 kPa underwater), and intrinsic conductivity (16.7 S/m), without post-processing. These hydrogels maintain stable performance across air–water interfaces, enabling high-fidelity biopotential recording even in liquid environments. Demonstrated as ECG electrodes, they deliver clinical-grade signal quality underwater and resist interference from sweat during physical activity. This one-step fabrication method supports scalable, cost-effective production, facilitating integration into diving gear and marine protective suits. The material’s dual adaptability to both wet and dry conditions opens new pathways for reliable biosignal monitoring in extreme environments. These findings represent a significant step toward industrial deployment of hydrogel-based soft electronics in aquatic healthcare and sports physiology applications.

Conductive hydrogels (CHs) have been widely used in the design of flexible strain electrodes due to their excellent physicochemical properties, such as large stretchability and high electrical conductivity. However, conductive hydrogels when aqueous solvents are used as the dispersion medium are subject to freezing and drying, which greatly limits their applications. In this study, we demonstrated an conductive hydrogel that is resistant to ambient temperature and highly stretchable by replacing part of the water in the synthesized polyacrylamide/poly(vinylpyrrolidone)/carbon nanotube hydrogel with glycerol through a simple solvent substitution strategy, which provides excellent temperature resistance and good stability without sacrificing the stretchability and conductivity. The conductive hydrogel is environmentally tolerant and is capable of effectively detecting physiological signals from the human body at both high and low temperatures.

Aims Ginkgo biloba extract (EGb) has been widely applied in the treatment of cerebrovascular and neurological diseases. However, the effect of EGb761 on ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), a vascular disorder and life-threatening complication of in vitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic sperm injection therapy (IVF/ICSI), has not been evaluated.Materials and methods Forty female Wistar rats aged 22-days old (D22) were divided into eight groups: Control rats received intraperitoneal injection of saline for five consecutive days (D22–D26); OHSS model group received 10 IU equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) for four consecutive days (D22–D25) and 30 IU of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) on the 5th day (D26); Prophylactic treatment group received three doses of EGb761 (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg/day) 1 h before injection of eCG (hCG) for seven consecutive days; Therapeutic treatment group received three doses of EGb761 (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg/day) 48 h after injection of eCG (hCG) for seven consecutive days. Results All three doses of EGb761 therapeutic medication significantly reduced ovarian mass index of OHSS model rats (p ≤ .01). Furthermore, therapeutic treatment group exhibited improved vascular permeability, decreased estradiol and progesterone levels, lower corpus luteum, and higher follicle numbers compared with the OHSS model. Elevated protein expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and VEGF receptor (VEGFR) in both ovary and kidney of the OHSS model was restrained by EGb761 therapeutic treatment. Conclusions EGb761 therapeutic medication decreases vascular permeability in OHSS rat model by inhibiting VEGF and VEGFR expression, which may contribute to the treatment of OHSS.

Polyacrylamide (PAM) based hydrogels are promising for soft strain sensor applications, while the incorporation of vinylimidazole (VI) endows the hydrogels with unique ion responsiveness and good biocompatibility. In this study, a high-performance PAM-co-VI/Ni/Co hydrogel was successfully fabricated through copolymerization of PAM with VI followed by modification with bimetallic nickel-cobalt ions. Experimental results demonstrate that when the VI content is 30% with a Ni/Co ion ratio of 3:1, the hydrogel exhibits remarkable comprehensive properties, with a tensile fracture strength of 0.46 MPa, an ultrahigh fracture strain of 1800%, a tensile sensitivity of 4.62, and long-term durability exceeding 1000 cycles. Furthermore, the hydrogel shows high pressure sensitivity (0.059 kPa -1 in the 0-5 kPa range), enabling precise detection of various mechanical signals from acoustic vibrations to complex human motions. Owing to its superior conductivity and biocompatibility, the PAM-co-VI/Ni/Co hydrogel also functions as a flexible electrode for electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring, achieving conformal skin contact while stably acquiring high signal-to-noise ratio ECG waveforms with accurate identification of P-waves, Q, R, and S waves (QRS complexes), and other key features, demonstrating great potential for wearable health monitoring applications.

Timely blood reperfusion after myocardial infarction (MI) paradoxically triggers ischemia–reperfusion injury (I/RI), which currently has not been conquered by clinical treatments. Among innovative repair strategies for myocardial I/RI, microRNAs (miRNAs) are expected as genetic tools to rescue damaged myocardium. Our previous study identified that miR-30d can provide protection against myocardial apoptosis and fibrosis to alleviate myocardial injury. Although common methods such as liposomes and viral vectors have been used for miRNA transfection, their therapeutic efficiencies have struggled with inefficient in vivo delivery, susceptible inactivation, and immunogenicity. Here, we establish a nanoparticle–patch system for miR-30d delivery in a murine myocardial I/RI model, which contains ZIF-8 nanoparticles and a conductive microneedle patch. Loaded with miR-30d, ZIF-8 nanoparticles leveraging the proton sponge effect enable miR-30d to escape the endocytic pathway, thus avoiding premature degradation in lysosomes. Meanwhile, the conductive microneedle patch offers a distinct advantage by intramyocardial administration for localized, effective, and sustained miR-30d delivery, and it simultaneously releases Au nanoparticles to reconstruct electrical impulses within the infarcted myocardium. Consequently, the nanoparticle–patch system supports the consistent and robust expression of miR-30d in cardiomyocytes. Results from echocardiography and electrocardiogram (ECG) revealed improved heart functions and standard ECG wave patterns in myocardial I/RI mice after implantation of a nanoparticle–patch system for 3 and 6 weeks. In summary, our work incorporated conductive microneedle patch and miR-30d nanodelivery systems to synergistically transcend the limitations of common RNA transfection methods, thus mitigating myocardial I/RI.

Electrical bioadhesive interface (EBI), especially conducting polymer hydrogel (CPH)-based EBI, exhibits promising potential applications in various fields, including biomedical devices, neural interfaces, and wearable devices. However, current fabrication techniques of CPH-based EBI mostly focus on conventional methods such as direct casting, injection, and molding, which remains a lingering challenge for further pushing them toward customized practical bioelectronic applications and commercialization. Herein, 3D printable high-performance CPH-based EBI precursor inks are developed through composite engineering of PEDOT:PSS and adhesive ionic macromolecular dopants within tough hydrogel matrices (PVA). Such inks allow the facile fabrication of high-resolution and programmable patterned EBI through 3D printing. Upon successive freeze-thawing, the as-printed PEDOT:PSS-based EBI simultaneously exhibits high conductivity of 1.2 S m −1 , low interfacial impedance of 20 Ω, high stretchability of 349%, superior toughness of 109 kJ m −3 , and satisfactory adhesion to various materials. Enabled by these advantageous properties and excellent printability, the facile and continuous manufacturing of EBI-based skin electrodes is further demonstrated via 3D printing, and the fabricated electrodes display excellent ECG and EMG signal recording capability superior to commercial products. This work may provide a new avenue for rational design and fabrication of next-generation EBI for soft bioelectronics, further advancing seamless human-machine integration.

Natural products have been widely recognized in clinical treatment because of their low toxicity and high activity. It is worth paying attention to modifying the biopolymer into nanostructures to give natural active ingredients additional targeting effects. In this study, based on the multifunctional modification of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), a nanoplatform encapsulating the unstable drug (−)-epicatechin gallate (ECG) was designed to deliver to atherosclerotic plaques. Acetalization cyclodextrin (PH-CD), which responds to low-pH environments, and hyaluronic acid cyclodextrin, which targets the CD44 receptor on macrophage membranes, were synthesized from β-CD and hyaluronic acid using acetalization and transesterification, respectively. The resulting dual-carrier nanoparticles (Double-NPs) loaded with ECG were prepared using a solvent evaporation method. The Double-NPs effectively scavenged reactive oxygen species, promoted macrophage migration, inhibited macrophage apoptosis, and suppressed abnormal proliferation and migration of vascular smooth muscle cells. Furthermore, the Double-NPs actively accumulated in atherosclerotic plaques in ApoE–/– mice fed with a high-fat diet, leading to a reduced plaque area, inflammatory infiltration, and plaque instability. Our findings demonstrate that the newly developed ECG nanopreparation represents an effective and safe nanotherapy for diseases such as atherosclerosis.
