Engineered vasculature is widely employed to maintain the cell viability within in vitro tissues. A variety of fabrication techniques for engineered vasculature have been explored, with combination of additive manufacturing with a sacrifice-based technique being the most common approach. However, the size deformation of vasculature caused by the swelling of sacrificial materials remains unaddressed. In this study, Pluronic F-127 (PF-127), the most widely used sacrificial material, was employed to study the deformation of the vasculature. Then, a thermoresponsive hydrogel comprising poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) and gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) was used to induce volume shrinkage at 37°C to compensate for the deformation of vasculature caused by the swelling of a three-dimensional (3D)-printed sacrificial template, and to generate vasculature of a smaller size than that after deformation. Our results showed that the vasculature diameter increased after the sacrificial template was removed, whereas it decreased to the designed diameter after the volume shrinkage. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) formed an endothelial monolayer in the engineered vasculature. Osteosarcoma cells (OCs) were loaded into a hierarchical vasculature within the thermoresponsive hydrogel to investigate the interaction between HUVECs and OCs. New blood vessel infiltration was observed within the lumen of the engineered vasculature after in vivo subcutaneous implantation for 4 weeks. In addition, engineered vasculature was implanted in a rat ischemia model to further study the function of engineered vasculature for blood vessel infiltration. This study presents a small method aiming to accurately create engineered vasculature by additive manufacturing and a sacrificebased technique.

A macroporous organic adsorbent was designed and prepared using the template method, with acrylamide (AM) as the skeleton, glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) as the shell, and F-127 and Pluronic block copolymer (P123) as surfactants, and grafted with polyethyleneimine (PEI). Solid adsorbents were used for carbon dioxide capture. The effect of the AM/GMA mass ratio on the spherical morphology, through-hole structure, specific surface area, hardness, hydrophobicity, and thermal stability was comprehensively investigated, and the CO2 adsorption performance of the PEI-modified adsorbent was studied. Surface area and morphology characterization showed that after the introduction of GMA, the wall thickness and roughness increased, and the specific surface area and the mass of GMA first showed a positive correlation and then a negative correlation. In addition, the thermal stability was slightly reduced, and the hydrophobicity was greatly improved. The CO2 adsorption results revealed that the organic adsorbents exhibited higher adsorption capacity and faster adsorption kinetics than conventional CO2 capture materials, and their simple synthesis enables their industrial application. The study revealed that the preparation of PEI-modified adsorbents with a core–shell structure greatly improved thermal stability and selectivity. When the PEI loading was 50 wt %, the CO2 capacity of the core–shell microspheres reached 3.11 mmol·g–1 at 40 °C, and desorption can be completed at 85 °C. The proposed material has a good industrial application prospect and shows an excellent lifetime performance.

To overcome the limitations of doxorubicin (DOX) chemotherapy, nanomedicines that integrate additional photothermal therapy (PTT) and chemodynamic therapy (CDT) strategies are highlighted as promising alternatives for the treatment of malignant tumors. However, time-consuming preparation processes, biosafety concerns, and the bottlenecks of individual therapeutic modalities often limit the practical applications of this strategy. To address these issues, this work designs an oxygen economizer that additionally serves as a Fenton reaction amplifier through the simple assembly of epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), pluronic F-127 (PF127), iron (III) ions, and doxorubicin (DOX) for the enhancement of synergistic PTT/CDT/chemotherapy. The resulting nanoformulation, EFPD, can target mitochondria and inhibit cell respiration to reduce O 2 consumption, thus boosting DOX-mediated H 2 O 2 generation for enhanced CDT and simultaneously improving hypoxia-limited DOX chemotherapy efficacy. Moreover, the coordination between EGCG and Fe 3+ provides EFPD with excellent photothermal conversion efficiencies ( η = 34.7%) for PTT and photothermal-accelerated drug release. Experimental results indicate that EFPD-mediated synergistic enhancement of PTT/CDT/chemotherapy can achieve excellent therapeutic outcomes, including enhanced ablation of solid tumors, reduced metastasis and cardiotoxicity, and extended life spans.
