This study adopts an innovative strategy that combines laser-induced technology with chemical bonding to construct flexible MXene/LIG @laser (MLL) composite films with a ternary heterostructure of V2CTx-LIG-V2O5, which were assembled into a flexible triboelectric nanogenerator (MLL-TENG) with a single electrode structure. An open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 200.69V and short-circuit current (ISC) of 4.44μA were achieved using the MLL-TENG. System characterization showed that the MLL-TENG had excellent mechanical durability (>6000 cycles, decay rate of 2.8%), high sensitivity (22.64 V·N-1 at 0.1N), a fast response/recovery time (90/100ms), and environmental stability (20-80°C). MLL-TENG can be applied to human health monitoring and haptic sensing for continuous monitoring of joint flexural amplitude, laryngeal vibration frequency and gait behavior. Based on a quantitative analysis of the range of motion of human joints and the frequency of muscle group movement, a dynamic assessment of the physiological state of the participants can be performed. It provides low-cost detection solutions in scenarios such as the early warning of Parkinson’s disease and real-time monitoring of an athlete’s movement status. Its on-line and noninvasive monitoring capabilities are of great significance in disease prevention, rehabilitation, and healthcare.

Laser-induced 3D porous graphene enables scalable, low-cost biosensing. • PB/PEDOT/Au composite synergistically enhances stability, antifouling, and electroactivity. • The immunosensor achieves ultrasensitive detection of H1N1 and a wide dynamic range. • Label-free and pretreatment-free detection is successfully demonstrated in complex biological matrices. As a major cause of seasonal influenza, H1N1 virus requires advanced monitoring. Custom-patterned conductive graphene microelectrodes are essential for building relevant sensing platforms. In this study, a label-free H1N1 electrochemical immunosensor was developed based on a sequentially engineered laser-induced graphene (LIG)/Prussian blue (PB)/poly3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT)/Au nanocomposite microelectrode. Unlike previous studies that focused on single-component modifications, our approach integrates multiple functional layers to synergistically enhance signal stability, sensitivity, and antifouling performance. The LIG microelectrode was fabricated using a low-cost intelligent semiconductor laser, which directly patterned a three-electrode system on a polyimide (PI) film. Subsequently, PB, PEDOT, and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) were sequentially electrodeposited onto the LIG electrode. PB served as an ultrasensitive electrochemical signal reporter, while the encapsulating PEDOT polymer layer not only stabilized the electrical signal of PB in neutral environments but also significantly enhanced the electrode's antifouling properties. To construct the label-free immunosensor, Au NPs were introduced to improve conductivity and were functionalized via Au–S–COOH bonding for the immobilization of H1N1 antibodies. Under optimal conditions, the LIG/PB/PEDOT/Au composite electrode exhibited excellent electrochemical activity and conductivity. The fabricated immunosensor demonstrated ultrahigh sensitivity with a wide concentration range from 0.1 fg mL −1 to 100 ng mL −1 , and an extremely low detection limit of 0.063 fg mL −1 . The results confirmed that the immunosensor possesses excellent selectivity, precision, and stability, and is thus suitable for the analysis of complex biological samples without the need for labeled probes and sample pretreatment. Therefore, this environmentally friendly and label-free immunosensing platform represents a significant advancement in point-of-care biosensing and demonstrates strong potential for rapid on-site screening and prevention of infectious disease outbreaks. A label-free immunosensor based on laser-induced graphene microelectrode modified with PB/PEDOT/Au nanocomposite enables ultra-sensitive detection of H1N1 virus in complex biological samples without pretreatment. Superwetting functional surfaces based on laser-induced graphene (LIG) have a wide range of applications in many fields. However, single wettability LIG films are difficult to respond to complex and changing environmental conditions. Despite the large number of experiments were carried out to demonstrate the formation of LIG, there is a lack of studies on the process and formation mechanisms of LIG. In this study, the conversion of PEI to graphene was systematically investigated by both experimental and molecular dynamics simulations. A new method for obtaining Janus membranes with both superhydrophobicity and superhydrophilicity by ethanol and plasma treatment of LIG is proposed. The asymmetrically superwetting Janus membrane are shown to realize the on-demand controllable separation of light oil–water and heavy oil–water. In addition, the superhydrophobic LIG is used as a coating material with excellent electrothermal properties, which provide the performance of anti-icing and electrothermal de-icing. The asymmetrically superwetting Janus membranes prepared by the proposed simple and environmentally friendly method are shown to have a variety of prospective applications.

This work demonstrates a facile and efficient methodology to synthesize a composite material of zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) and laser-induced graphene (LIG). This ZIF-67 loaded LIG composite (ZIF-67/LIG) has been adequately characterized for its morphology and structure, and its electrochemical performance has been specifically examined. As supercapacitors (SCs) electrode material, the ZIF-67/LIG composite exhibits superb electrochemical performance, owing to the inherent high porosity, abundant active sites, large specific surface area of ZIF-67, and the excellent conductive three-dimensional hierarchical porous network structure provided by LIG. In three-electrode system, ZIF-67/LIG composite electrode displays outstanding areal specific capacitance (CA) of 135.6 mF cm−2 at a current density of 1 mA cm−2 with 1 M Na2SO4 aqueous electrolyte, which is far greater than that of pristine LIG (7.7 mF cm−2). Furthermore, the ZIF-67/LIG composite has been fabricated into an all-solid-state planar micro-supercapacitor (MSC). This ZIF-67/LIG MSC exhibits an impressive CA of 38.1 mF cm−2 at a current density of 0.20 mA cm−2, a good cycling stability of 80.3% capacitance retention after 3000 cycles, and a high energy density of 5.29 μWh cm−2 at a power density of 0.1 mW cm−2. All electrochemical results clearly manifest that as-prepared ZIF-67/LIG composite can be a candidate in energy storage field with exciting possibilities.

Graphene, a carbon material with high carrier mobility and low current density, is a promising candidate for the fabrication of flexible sensors. However, its production using traditional methods is complex and expensive, whereas the synthesis of laser-induced graphene (LIG) is eco-friendly and inexpensive under ambient conditions. LIG features a 3D porous structure with localized defects, which is influenced by substrate properties, laser parameters, and processing steps. Herein, the influence of the twist angle between two laser irradiation steps on the porous structure and conductive characteristics of LIG is explored. The results show that the optimal twist angle is 4°, at which the square resistance of LIG is as low as 12.0 Ω sq−1. The change in the conductivity of LIG occurs because the optimal twist angle between the two graphene layers opens the band gap. LIG with a twist angle of 4° is selected to prepare a biosensor and a Hall sensor. It is found that the LIG-based biosensor exhibits a lower detection limit of 8.62 μM when detecting uric acid (UA). Furthermore, the Hall sensitivity of the cross and circular Hall sensors is ∼0.59 and ∼0.64 V (A−1 T−1), respectively. This study supports the application of LIG in flexible sensors and provides some guidelines for further exploration of the 3D structure of LIG.

The detection of glucose in beverages is crucial for dietary management and healthcare. Excessive sugar consumption can lead to severe conditions, such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. In this study, Cu-embedded laser-induced graphene (Cu/LIG) materials were fabricated for non-enzymatic glucose detection using a simple, direct, and cost-effective laser-patterning method on a Cu 2+ /ethyl-cellulose/polyimide membrane. The experimental results showed that the Cu/LIG electrode exhibited lower charge transfer resistance and a distinct diffusion process compared to the LIG electrode. This improvement can be attributed to the optimized graphene formation achieved by employing ethyl-cellulose (EC) and CuCl 2 as combustion promoters. Under optimal conditions, Cu/LIG-600 demonstrated excellent electrocatalytic activity for glucose oxidation, with a low response concentration (5 μM), fast response time (2.0 s), and detection ranges of 0.005–0.525 mM (I-t) and 0.5–4.0 mM (CV). Moreover, the sensor exhibited high selectivity, stability (retaining over 90 % activity after 28 days), and satisfactory recovery rates for spiked glucose in Cola, Sprite, Black Tea, and sugarless Soda Water, indicating its potential for non-enzymatic glucose detection in beverages.

Background The efficient and timely determination of polymethoxylated flavones (PMFs, primarily nobiletin and tangeretin) and flavanone glycosides (primarily hesperidin) in Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (CRP) is of paramount importance for the production of CRP and the evaluation of its efficacy. Conventional analytical methods including chromatography-based approaches commonly provide high sensitivity and selectivity, but require bulky equipment and complicated procedures performed by professional technicians and are thus inconvenient in practical applications. Therefore, there is a clear need for portable and miniaturized sensing platforms that can rapidly and simultaneously detect PMFs and hesperidin in CRP product. Results A state-of-the-art three-dimensional porous graphene electrode was first fabricated by direct laser scribing of a poly(ether-ether-ketone) (PEEK) film for electrocatalysis of nobiletin , tangeretin and hesperidin . Kinetic analysis was conducted to investigate the reaction mechanisms of these three flavonoids at such prepared PEEK-laser induced graphene (PEEK-LIG) electrodes. Since the as-prepared PEEK-LIG electrodes exhibited high electrocatalytic efficiency towards these three flavonoids , a portable electrochemical sensing platform assembled with a smartphone, a miniatured electrochemical workstation, and an integrated PEEK-LIG microchip was developed. Consequently, the developed portable electrochemical sensing platforms exhibited great sensitivity and low detection limits for both PMFs and hesperidin. More importantly, tests conducted on real CRP extract samples demonstrated that the developed portable electrochemical sensing platform exhibited high validity, high reliability, as well as excellent reproducibility. Significance This is the inaugural report on the portable and simultaneous determination of PMFs and hesperidin in the pericarp of Citrus Reticulata , which may be utilized for differentiating CRP products. Furthermore, the portable and powerful electrochemical sensing platforms developed could also potentially be applied for a wide range of analytes, thanks to their simple and rapid fabrication and determination processes.

A drop-casting method for the scalable construction of a solar cell-type light-addressable photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor on commercial phenol resin (PR) plates is reported. The sensor was fabricated by laser writing of addressable laser-induced graphene (LIG) electrode arrays on PR plates with ring-disc dual-electrode cell configurations using a 405 nm laser machine. Beneficial from the good hydrophilicity of PR-based LIG and the excellent film formation of bismuth sulfide nanorods (Bi 2 S 3 NRs), uniform Bi 2 S 3 photovoltaic films can be reproducibly deposited onto the LIG disc photoanode array via drop casting modification, which show a sensitive photocurrent response toward thiocholine (TCl) when the ring cathode array was coated with Ag/AgCl. An acetylcholinesterase (AChE)-based PEC biosensor was therefore constructed by a similar drop-casting modification method. The resulting biosensor exhibits good sensitivity toward an AChE inhibitor , i.e., galantamine hydrobromide (GH), with a calibration range of 10–300 μM and a detection limit of 7.33 μM (S/N = 3). Moreover, the biosensor possesses good storage stability, which can achieve the high-throughput screening of AChE inhibitor drugs from traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs). The present work thus demonstrates the promising application of LIG technology in constructing light-addressable PEC sensing devices with high performance and low cost.
