Despite the advancements in cancer therapy, delivering active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) using nanoparticles remains challenging due to the failed conveyance of the required drug payload, poor targeting ability, and poor biodistribution, hampering their clinical translation. Recently, the appropriate design of materials with intrinsic therapeutic functionalities has garnered enormous interest in the development of various intelligent therapeutic nanoplatforms. In this study, we demonstrate the fabrication of transition metal (molybdenum, Mo)-doped manganese dioxide (MnO2) nanoarchitectures, exhibiting diagnostic (magnetic resonance imaging, MRI) and therapeutic (chemodynamic therapy, CDT) functionalities. The facile hydrothermal approach-assisted Mo-doped MnO2 flower-like nanostructures offered tailorable morphologies in altered dimensions, precise therapeutic effects, exceptional biocompatibility, and biodegradability in the tumor microenvironment. The resultant defects due to doped Mo species exhibited peroxidase and oxidase activities, improving glutathione (GSH) oxidation. The two sets of variable valence metal ion pairs (Mn2+/Mn4+ and Mo5+/Mo6+) and their interplay could substantially improve the Fenton-like reaction and generate toxic hydroxyl radicals (•OH), thus achieving CDT-assisted antitumor effects. As inherent T1-MRI agents, these MnO2 nanoparticles displayed excellent MRI efficacy in vitro. Together, we believe that these conformational Mo-doped MnO2 nanoarchitectures with two pairs of variable valence states could potentiate drugless therapy in pharmaceutics.
Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) hole injection layer plays an important role in planar Si/PEDOT:PSS heterojunction solar cells (HSCs). Herein, a MoO x mixed aqueous PEDOT:PSS cosolvent is developed and is applied into a Si/PEDOT:PSS solar cell preparation via a time-saving one-step spin-coating method. With an optimal concentration of MoO x dopants, the power conversion efficiency of the device exhibits from 10.26% up to 13.82% with all inherent photovoltaic parameters enhanced. The detailed characterization and analytical results indicate that an advanced electronic property is produced by MoO x dopants and interface optimization caused by synergistic effects from Mo 5+ and Mo 6+ species with PEDOT:PSS, which enhances its interface work function and promotes hole transportation capacity. The result paves a path for exploring efficient Si/PEDOT:PSS HSCs with suitable functional material and a simple solution-processable method.

The bottom-up approach serves as an efficacious and noteworthy method for the synthesis of carbonized polymer dots (CPDs). In the present investigation, rhenium-doped CPDs (Re-CPDs) were successfully synthesized via a hydrothermal technique employing citric acid , urea, and NH 4 ReO 4 . Subsequent to a comprehensive series of characterizations, Re-CPDs demonstrated an average particle size of 2.67 nm, excitation/emission maxima of 377/461 nm, and an elevated quantum yield of 45.36% at 377 nm excitation. Through the selectivity analysis involving various metal ions , Re-CPDs displayed sensitivity towards Fe 3+ and Mo 6+ ions, with limits of detection (LODs) of 0.02 μM and 0.48 μM, respectively. Furthermore, Re-CPDs exhibited multi-chromatic fluorescence (450–550 nm) under excitation wavelengths (375–430 nm). As a result, by amalgamating Re-CPDs with sucrose, detection patterns capable of generating multi-chromatic fluorescence at excitation wavelengths of 375, 395, and 430 nm, respectively, were successfully devised. In summary, Re-CPDs hold considerable potential as a material for the detection of Fe 3+ and Mo 6+ ions, as well as for anti-counterfeiting ink applications.
