Porous NiCoP Nanowire Arrays on the Surface of Ti3C2Tx-Modified Carbon Cloth for Sensitive Determination of Dopamine

Xinmeng Zhang,Yakun Li,Wanyin Ge

Dopamine (DA) is a small biological molecule that causes a variety of diseases when its concentration is abnormal. Therefore, highly sensitive detection of DA is very important for the development of biomedicine and monitoring of human health. Herein, we prepared a carbon cloth (CC)/Ti3C2Tx/NiCoP composite as a highly sensitive electrochemical sensor for DA detection. Porous NiCoP was grown on the surface of CC and Ti3C2Tx by hydrothermal and phosphating treatments. The composite integrated the advantages of large specific surface area of zero-dimensional NiCoP quantum dots, rich electrochemical active sites of one-dimensional porous NiCoP nanowires, hydrophilicity of two-dimensional Ti3C2Tx nanosheets, and high conductivity of three-dimensional CC substrates. The sensor has high sensitivity (31.4101 μA μM–1 cm–2), wide detection range (0.17–784.55 μM), low detection limit (0.18 nM), elevated stability, and anti-interference ability. By analyzing the conductivity, hydrophilicity, and electrochemically active surface area of the CC/Ti3C2Tx/NiCoP composite, the reasons for its excellent performances are revealed for DA detection. At present, the research on NiCoP mainly focuses on hydrogen evolution, oxygen evolution, and supercapacitor. This research provides a regulatory strategy for the application of phosphide materials in sensors.

3D nano-micro structured NiCoP/CC as high-performance cathode for hybrid supercapacitor

Xinrui He,Yi Niu,Hailong Sun,Xing Chen,Zhirong Wang,Jing Jiang,Chao Wang

Transition-metal phosphides are desirable candidates for supercapacitors . Herein, bimetallic phosphides NiCoP/CC is obtained with 3D nano-micro structure. This unique as well as the altered electronic structure effectively improved the energy density of NiCoP/CC//AC hybrid supercapacitors (HSCs). As compared to Ni 2 P/CC, NiCoP/CC shows a metallic conductivity and has more electrons close to the Fermi level, increasing the intrinsic reactivity effectively. Moreover, the 3D nano-micro structure with a 20 nm staggered nanosheet provides a multidirectional pathway for charge transfer. Thus, NiCoP/CC cathode holds the capacity of 3.42 C cm −2 at 4 mA cm −2 , which is much higher than that of Ni 2 P/CC. As a result, the HSC device delivers a greater energy density of 31.8 Wh kg −1 than that of most reported devices. More importantly, the device works well over a wide temperature range. It can still maintain 100% of its initial capacity after 450 cycles under variable temperatures from 5 ℃ to 50 ℃. In summary, this work starts with structural engineering and then analyzes the performance of HSC under variable temperature environments, offering a universal approach for the rational development of high-performance electrode materials in the field of supercapacitors.

5 nm NiCoP nanoparticles coupled with g-C3N4 as high-performance photocatalyst for hydrogen evolution

Ma Bo,Zhao Jinping,Ge Zhenhua,Chen Yantao,Yuan Zhihao

Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) coupled with NiCoP nanoparticles with sizes around 5 nm have been fabricated via a controllable alcohothermal process. NiCoP is an excellent electron conductor and cocatalyst in photocatalytic reactions. The coupling between tiny NiCoP nanoparticles and g-C 3 N 4 through in-situ fabrication strategy could be a promising way to eliminate the light screening effect, hinder the recombination of photo-induced charge carriers, and improve the charge transfer. The NiCoP/g-C 3 N 4 nanohybrids exhibit an excellent photocatalytic activity in the hydrogen generation, with a significantly improved performance compared with original g-C 3 N 4 , CoP/g-C 3 N 4 and Ni 2 P/g-C 3 N 4 , respectively. This study paves a new way to design transition metal phosphides-based photocatalysts for hydrogen production.

Uniform H-CdS@NiCoP core–shell nanosphere for highly efficient visible-light-driven photocatalytic H2 evolution

Lili Deng,Ningjie Fang,Shilin Wu,Song Shu,Yinghao Chu,Jiaxiu Guo,Wanglai Cen

Constructing highly efficient and cost-effective photocatalyst system has been a big challenge for photocatalysis . Herein, CdS nanosphere ( N -CdS), hollow CdS (H-CdS) and a series of H-CdS@NiCoP core–shell nanospheres have been successfully prepared via a facile hydrothermal method . The activity test showed that H-CdS exhibited higher photocatalytic activity (3.34 mmol g -1 h −1 ) compared with N -CdS (0.99 mmol g -1 h −1 ) under visible light irradiation (λ ≥ 420 nm), suggesting that hollow structure could effectively improve photocatalytic activity. Moreover, the H-CdS@NiCoP-7 wt% displayed a maximum photocatalytic H 2 evolution rate of 13.47 mmol g -1 h −1 , which was about 4 times and 2.5 times higher than that of pristine H-CdS and H-CdS@Pt-3 wt%, respectively. Furthermore, H-CdS@NiCoP-7 wt% exhibited a good stability during 20 h test. The physicochemical properties were characterized by XRD , SEM , TEM, XPS , UV–vis DRS , PL and photoelectrochemical technique. The results showed that NiCoP addition can construct p-n junction with H-CdS and effectively promote the charge transfer from CdS to NiCoP, which improved the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activity. This work revealed that NiCoP could react as an excellent co-catalyst for enhancing H-CdS photocatalytic activity.

Minmin Wang,Wenwu Song,Xu Miao,Li Zhou,Xunyue Wang,Yanfeng Tang

Graphical Let's split !: A low-cost and high-efficiency NiCoP/Mo 3 Se 4 multifunctional catalyst was reported for highly efficient full water splitting. The abundance interfaces in NiCoP/Mo 3 Se 4 played a great role in optimizing the electronic structure of the nanoheterogeneous to efficient charge transfer. As expected, a low voltage of 1.90 V was needed to drive full water splitting at the current density of 400 mA cm −2 . The simultaneous manipulation of the catalytic activity and intrinsic electrical conductivity in a unified system is difficult yet meaningful to unravel the possible strategy that can enhance the water splitting performance. In this work, a low cost and highly efficient NiCoP/Mo 3 Se 4 nano-heterogeneous bifunctional catalyst was reported for full water splitting. Further analysis revealed the abundance interfaces in NiCoP/Mo 3 Se 4 played a great role in optimizing the electronic structure of the nanoheterogeneous to efficient charge transfer. As expected, a low voltage of 1.90 V was needed to drive full water splitting at the high current density of 400 mA cm −2 .

Xingxing Ma,Yaqing Chang,Zhe Zhang,Jilin Tang

The design of cost-efficient earth-abundant catalysts with superior performance for electrochemical water splitting is highly desirable. Herein, we report a simple and effective approach to fabricate a high-performance NiCoP@Cu3P heterostructure on Cu-foam (NiCoP@Cu3P/CF) for the first time, which has synergistic active sites, large electrochemical surface area, small charge-transfer resistance, efficient mass transport and electron transfer for both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The optimized NiCoP@Cu3P/CF exhibits a pretty low overpotential of 54 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and a small Tafel slope of 72 mV dec−1 serving as a HER electrocatalyst and also exhibits a low overpotential of 309 mV at 10 mA cm−2 and an extremely small Tafel slope of 42 mV dec−1 serving as an OER electrocatalyst in 1 M KOH.

3D NiCoP flowers assembled by 2D carbon-coated nanosheets as an efficient and stable positive electrode for supercapacitors

Xiaomeng Zhang,Xiaofeng Zhao,Buhe Bateer,Yanqing Jiao,Aiping Wu,Haijing Yan,Dongxu Wang,Jiaming Wang,Chungui Tian

High rate performance and cycling stability are crucial factors in the construction of electrode materials for supercapacitors. Herein, we designed and synthesized flower-like NiCoP assembled with nanosheets stabilized by carbon layers (NiCoP/C) through a ‘hydrothermal assembly-phosphating’ route. Nanolayers with rich pore channels can provide transport for a large number of ions (providing transport pathways for ions in the electrolyte, effectively reducing resistance during ion transport within the electrode), improve the specific surface area of electrode materials (increasing the contact area between the electrode and electrolyte, and thereby promoting charge transfer between the electrode and electrolyte), and enhance the structural stability. The conductivity of the 3D assembly NiCoP/C is high, similar to that of phosphides with enhanced mass/charge transfer, and it possesses good ability from the carbon coating and 3D structure to buffer any volume variation. These characteristics are favourable for application as electrode materials in supercapacitors. Under optimized conditions, the capacitance of the prepared NiCoP/C-2 is high (1261 F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1, 799 F g−1 at a current density of 10 A g−1) in a three-electrode system. The asymmetric supercapacitor assembled with NiCoP/C-2 as the positive material and N-doped porous carbon as the negative material exhibited excellent stability. After 8000 cycles, the discharge capacitance remained at 88.5%, presenting a high energy density of 40.06 W h kg−1 at 640 W kg−1.

Rational design of direct Z-scheme heterostructure NiCoP/ZIS for highly efficient photocatalytic hydrogen evolution under visible light irradiation

Huihui Song,Siyang Liu,Zhongqiao Sun,Yide Han,Junli Xu,Yan Xu,Junbiao Wu,Hao Meng,Xinxin Xu,Ting Sun,Xia Zhang

Construction of Z-scheme heterojunctions has been recognized as one of the most efficient strategies to significantly improve the charge-separation efficiency and achieve highly efficient solar energy conversion in photochemical reactions. Herein, a novel direct Z-scheme catalyst of NiCoP/ZIS was rational designed and prepared by dispersing ternary metal phosphide NiCoP in ZnIn 2 S 4 (ZIS) nanoflowers under solvothermal method. The compact heterojunction structural characteristic of NiCoP/ZIS afford the composite prominent enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen (H 2 ) production performance. The relative quantities of Ni and Co in NiCoP/ZIS composite can significantly influence the photocatalytic activities of the material, and the 37.5% Ni 0.7 Co 0.3 P/ZIS composite with a Ni/Co mole ratio of 0.7: 0.3 had the best hydrogen production efficiency with a hydrogen evolution rate of 3.84 mmol g −1 h −1 , which is approximately 8 times higher than that of single ZIS. The apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) for 37.5% Ni 0.7 Co 0.3 P/ZIS is about 5.14% under the incident monochromatic light of 405 nm. The subsequent electrochemical analyses proved the significant roles of the direct Z-scheme heterojunction in accumulating the electrons at the conduction bands of ZIS with more negative potential, which contributed to the stronger reduction activity in the promoted hydrogen generation for Ni 0.7 Co 0.3 P/ZIS. This work not only reported a a novel direct Z-scheme catalyst of NiCoP/ZIS heterostructure with enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen generation performance, but also provided a promising approach to rational design and construct efficient visible-light-driven photocatalysts for solar energy utilization.

NiCoP-nanocubes-decorated CoSe2 nanowire arrays as high-performance electrocatalysts toward oxygen evolution reaction

Xinyu Zheng,Ying Peng,Shengjie Xu,Longhui Huang,Yu Liu,Di Li,Jianjun Zhu,Deli Jiang

Designing effective, robust, and low-cost catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is an urgent requirement yet challenging task in water electrolysis. In this study, a NiCoP-nanocubes-decorated CoSe 2 nanowires arrays three-dimensional/two-dimensional (3D/2D) electrocatalyst (NiCoP-CoSe 2 -2) was developed for catalyzing OER via a combined selenylation, co-precipitation, and phosphorization method. The as-obtained NiCoP-CoSe 2 -2 3D/2D electrocatalyst exhibits a low overpotential of 202 mV at 10 mA cm −2 with a small Tafel slope of 55.6 mV dec −1 , which is superior to most of reported CoSe 2 and NiCoP-based heterogeneous electrocatalysts. Experimental analyses and density functional theory (DFT) calculations proof that the interfacial coupling and synergy between CoSe 2 nanowires and NiCoP nanocubes are not only beneficial to strengthen the charge transfer ability and accelerate reaction kinetics, but also facilitate the optimization of interfacial electronic structure, thereby enhancing the OER property of NiCoP-CoSe 2 -2. This study offers insights for the investigation and construction of transition metal phosphide/selenide heterogeneous electrocatalyst toward OER in alkaline media and broadens the prospect of industrial applications in energy storage and conversion fields.

ZIF-67-derived ZnIn2S4/NiCoP Z-scheme heterojunctions for enhanced visible-light-driven photocatalytic hydrogen production

Hong Yao,Gang Jin,Guozhe Sui,Jinlong Li,Dongxuan Guo,Shuang Liang,Ze Luo,Rongping Xu,Chao Wang,Jing Tang

Z-scheme photocatalytic heterojunction is considered as an effective strategy to promote the photogenerated electron-hole separation for improving the efficiency of photocatalytic hydrogen precipitation from splitting water significantly. Herein, a novel Z-scheme 2D-ZnIn 2 S 4 /NiCoP heterojunction is successfully prepared by coupling NiCoP derived from ZIF-67 through phosphating treatment with 2D-ZnIn 2 S 4 lamellae via a facile hydrothermal method . The Z-scheme heterostructure of ZnIn 2 S 4 /NiCoP could suppress the recombination-rate of photogenerated electron-hole pairs and enhance the visible-light-driven photocatalytic hydrogen production . As a result, the hydrogen production rate of 2D-ZnIn 2 S 4 /NiCoP (10 wt% ZnIn 2 S 4 ) increase to 5098.12 μmol g −1 h −1 significantly with an apparent quantum yield (AQY) of 5.24% at 420 nm, which is 3.07 times than that of bare ZnIn 2 S 4 . The enhancement of photocatalytic performance is attributed to the following issues: 2D-ZnIn 2 S 4 could avoid the agglomeration of tiny ZnIn 2 S 4 , exposing more active sites and shortening the transmission distance of photogenerated carries; the formation of Z-scheme heterostructure could promote the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs; the unique hollow structure of NiCoP derived from ZIF-67 could inhibit the recombination of the photogenerated electron-hole. Overall, this work could provide a new idea for designing and preparing of visible-light-driven photocatalysts with high efficiency for photocatalytic hydrogen production.

NiCoP/NiOOH nanoflowers loaded on ultrahigh porosity Co foam for hydrogen evolution reaction under large current density

Yuantao Pei,Liang Huang,Lei Han,Haijun Zhang,Longhao Dong,Quanli Jia,Shaowei Zhang

Developing user-friendly electrodes for efficiently producing hydrogen from water to substitute non-renewable fossil fuels is one of the challenges in the hydrogen energy field. For the first time, we have prepared self-supporting ultrahigh porosity cobalt foam loaded with NiCoP/NiOOH nanoflowers (NiCoP/CF) via freeze-drying and phosphorization. The as-prepared hierarchical NiCoP/CF electrodes showed superior catalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in alkaline media. The one resulted from phosphorization at 350 °C (NiCoP/CF-350) only required overpotential of −47, and −126 mV to deliver geometrical current density of −10 mA cm −2 and −100 mA cm −2 , respectively, demonstrating improved catalytic activity than the electrodes prepared using a commercial nickel foam as a support. Moreover, it could retain its superior stability at a current density higher than −500 mA cm −2 for 16 h. Such an outstanding performance can be attributed to the ultrahigh porosity of Co foam support, optimal adsorption energies of HER intermediates (H∗), facile water dissociation on the NiCoP/NiOOH hetero-interfaces, and the assistance of NiOOH facilitating the electrons transfer from the Co foam inside to the NiCoP outside. The work would provide a new strategy for future design of advanced HER electrocatalysts.

Achieving advanced hydrogen evolution under large current density by amorphous/crystalline core-shell electrocatalyst of a-NiCoP/Co2P

Xiaodong Chen,Zhi Cheng,Jiao Li,Hongyu Chen,Siyuan Liu,Shuxian Wei,Zhaojie Wang,Xiaoqing Lu

Non-precious transition metal-based electrocatalysts with high activity are the promising candidates for substituting Pt- or Ru-based electrocatalyst in hydrogen evolution. In this study, we proposed a core-shell engineering to combine the amorphous NiCoP and crystalline Co2P (a-NiCoP/Co2P@NF), which requires an ultra-low overpotential of only 26 mV to achieve the benchmark current density of 10 mA cm-2. Furthermore, it achieves an industrial-level hydrogen evolution current density of 500 mA cm-2 with excellent stability. The superior catalytic performance and stability can be attributed to the hierarchical amorphous/crystalline interface and the electron-rich interfacial Co sites. Amorphous NiCoP shell can not only protect the internal Co2P from corrosion, but also provide a larger electrochemical active area. Together, the Co2P core provides fast electron transport and promotes H2 emission from the interfacial electron-rich Co sites. This work gives inspiration to the rational design of advanced core-shell structure between amorphous and crystalline.
