This article describes a photocatalytic (PC) hydrogen evolution technology that utilizes Pd/LaCoO3/PCN nanocomposites. In the preparation process, a narrow band gap pure LaCoO3 phase was obtained using a template method, which was subsequently combined with Pd-NPs loaded with pCN to form a Z-scheme heterojunction. The formation of this heterojunction resulted in a material with improved charge transfer characteristics and electron well performance. Under visible light irradiation, the composite material demonstrated a higher PC hydrogen evolution activity, resulting in a H2 yield of 40.2 μmol g–1 h–1. This yield represents a 259 times improvement over pure pCN materials, respectively. Furthermore, in the presence of a sacrificial agent, triethanolamine (TEOA), the production of H2 increased compared to methanol, likely due to the more vital binding ability of the amine-containing pCN to TEOA. Finally, the study found that Pd/LaCoO3/PCN nanocomposites displayed excellent stability and reusability during three continuous cycles. These results suggest that this material may become an efficient and sustainable technology for solar fuel production.

In this work, a biomimetic nanozyme catalyst with rapid and efficient self-bacteria-killing and wound-healing performances was synthesized. Through an in situ reduction reaction, a PCN-222 metal organic framework (MOF) was doped with bismuth nanoparticles (Bi NPs) to form Bi-PCN-222, an interfacial Schottky heterojunction biomimetic nanozyme catalyst, which can kill 99.9% of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). The underlying mechanism was that Bi NP doping can endow Bi-PCN-222 MOF with self-driven charge transfer through the Schottky interface and the capability of oxidase-like and peroxidase-like activity, because a large number of free electrons can be captured by surrounding oxygen species to produce radical oxygen species (ROS). Furthermore, once bacteria contact Bi-PCN-222 in a physiological environment, its appropriate redox potential can trigger electron transfer through the electron transport pathway in bacterial membranes and then the interior of the bacteria, which disturbs the bacterial respiration process and subsequent metabolism. Additionally, Bi-PCN-222 can also accelerate tissue regeneration by upregulating fibroblast proliferation and angiogenesis genes (bFGF, VEGF, and HIF-1α), thereby promoting wound healing. This biomimetic enzyme-catalyzed strategy will bring enlightenment to the design of self-bacterial agents for efficient disinfection and tissue reconstruction simultaneously.

In this work, a novel hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) biosensor was developed based on the microperoxidase-11 (MP-11) encapsulated in metal-organic frameworks, PCN-333 (Al) (PCN stands for porous coordination network), which was grown on the three-dimensional (3D) kenaf stem-derived porous carbon (3D-KSC) firmly and uniformly. The ball-flower-like PCN-333 (Al) with mesopores of 5.5 nm was especially suitable for encapsulating MP-11 (1.1 × 1.7 × 3.3 nm). Scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy were used to characterize the 3D-KSC electrode and the 3D-KSC/PCN-333 (Al)@MP-11 electrode. UV–vis spectroscopy was used for characterizing the encapsulation of MP-11 in the 3D-KSC/PCN-333 (Al) electrode. Cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry were used to characterize the electrochemical behaviors and performance of the biosensor. The results showed that the encapsulated MP-11 molecules showed a better performance than free enzyme. Under the optimized experimental conditions, the resulted H 2 O 2 biosensor exhibited a wide linear range from 0.387 μM to 1.725 mM and a low detection limit of 0.127 μM with good stability and high selectivity, which was superior to some H 2 O 2 biosensors.

Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) has been reported to be used for the illegal treatment of fishery products in order to obtain “fake” freshness. Residues of H2O2in food may be of toxicology concern. In this study, a nonenzymatic sensor was developed based on Fe@PCN-224 metal–organic frameworks wrapped by Nafion to detect H2O2concentration. The hybrid structure of Fe@PCN-224 was fabricated by incorporated free FeIIIions into the center of PCN-224, which was ultra-stable due to the strong interactions between Zr6and the carboxyl group. Scanning electron spectroscopy images exhibited that Nafion sheets crossed together on the surface of Fe@PCN-224 nanoparticles to form a hierarchical and coherent structure for efficient electron transfer. Electrochemical investigations showed that the Fe@PCN-224/Nafion/GCE possessed good linearity from 2 to 13,000 μM (including four orders of magnitude), low detection limits (0.7 μM), high stability in continuous monitoring (current remained nearly stable over 2300 s) and in long-term measurement (current decreased 3.4% for 30 days). The prepared nanohybrid modified electrode was effectively applied to H2O2detection in three different fishery products. The results were comparable to those measured using photometrical methods. The developed electrochemical method has a great potential in detecting the illegal management of fishery products with H2O2.Keywords:Fe@PCN-224;Nafion;nonenzymatic sensor;hydrogen peroxide;fishery products

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are attractive for the removal of industrial dyes from aqueous pollution. However, effective simultaneous removal of oppositely charged dye ions is still a challenge. We find that zirconium–metalloporphyrin mesoMOF (PCN-222/MOF-545) exhibits excellent adsorption/removal capacities for numerous anionic and cationic dyes individually and together in solution. PCN-222 is fabricated by solvothermal synthesis and characterized by powder XRD and FT-IR methods to confirm its structure. N2 adsorption/desorption indicates PCN-222 has a large pore size of 3.2 nm and a surface area of 2336 m2 g−1. The zeta potential measurement shows that PCN-222 has a slight basic isoelectric point at pH 8 with appropriate potentials of 23.5 and −13.6 mV in the range of pH 3–10. These features facilitate the dual-function of PCN-222 toward anionic and cationic dyes, or even their complexes. The results show that PCN-222 has a maximum loading efficacy of 906 mg g−1 for anionic methylene blue (MB) and 589 mg g−1 for cationic methyl orange (MO) in a single dye system. Interestingly, when MB and MO co-exist in solution, they mutually enhance the capability by 36.8% (1239 mg g−1) for MB and 73.5% (1022 mg g−1) for MO. The adsorption kinetics, isotherms, stability and reusability of PCN-222 are reported. The results reveal that no significant changes of either crystal structure or loading capacity are observed up to eight recycles during the removal of MO and MB in solution. The adsorption efficacies of eight representative dyes are presented. Compared with previously published data, the capacity of PCN-222 ranks at the top. We prepared a facile adsorption chromatography column to demonstrate the broad application potentials of PCN-222 in dye removal from aqueous pollution. Finally, we propose a push–pull mechanism to explain the mutual enhancement of adsorption in a mixture dye solution.

The desulfurization of fuels is a crucial step in the production of clean energy. The design of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with bimetallic active sites is a new way to achieve deep oxidative desulfurization (ODS). Traditional methods for synthesizing MOFs involve high temperatures and pressures, which can be hazardous. Oil bath heating provides a safer and more convenient way to synthesize catalysts at a slower heating rate with full uniform heating. In this work, a series of La-doped bimetallic PCN-777(La-Zr) catalysts were synthesized by heating in an oil bath. The microstructures of the catalysts were investigated using various techniques, such as XRD, FT-IR, Raman, BET, SEM, TEM, etc. Compared with PCN-777(H) synthesized by hydrothermal method, PCN-777(O) synthesized by oil-bath heating exhibits a higher specific surface area (2017.01 m 2 /g) and a more homogeneous pore size distribution. PCN-777(0.2La-Zr) demonstrated outstanding catalytic performance in ODS of dibenzothiophene (DBT), which could remove 100 % of DBT within 40 min at 60 ℃ and still exhibited high desulfurization efficiency after 12 cycles. The outstanding catalytic ability of PCN-777(0.2La-Zr) should be related to the synergistic effect of its homogeneous pore channels and unsaturated metal sites. The present study exhibits that bimetallic MOFs have possible application potential in the field of ODS, and offers a novel idea for promoting the catalytic ability of ODS by catalyst synthesis in an oil bath.

Supported metal nanomaterials have great potential in catalytic sensing, but the poor selectivity and easy aggregation of noble metals limit their development in non-enzyme sensing applications. Herein, this research focuses on the metal-support interactions of Pd supported on PCN-222, exploring the role of abundant porphyrin groups on the PCN-222 surface and the tuning of Pd composition to enhance electron configuration. Through the anchoring of PCN-222 surface to Pd species and utilizing the confining effect of open channels, the Pd@PCN-222 nanostructures with uniform particle size of Pd were successfully obtained. Strong electron interaction can enhance the catalytic activity of Pd@PCN-222 towards reaction, while increasing the Pd loading can improves the sensitivity of the sensors in the high concentration of H 2 O 2 . Combining the above two points, 0.29 %-Pd@PCN-222 exhibits a low detection limit of 0.27 μM and a wide linear range of 1–1000 μM in H 2 O 2 sensing via using a colorimetric method. Experimental and theoretical results show that Pd@PCN-222 exhibit strong p - d orbital coupling and adsorption, and rapid catalytic kinetics towards H 2 O 2 , enhancing the overall catalytic process. At the same time, DFT calculations are used to simulate the material surface and sensing process, which also enrich the research content of MOF materials in sensing. From the structure-performance relationships to the directly analyze the H 2 O 2 in real samples, this work is expected to provide some guidance for the development of efficient sensing systems.

Background Copper accumulation triggers mitochondrial-driven cell death, known as cuproptosis, offering a promising mechanism for targeted cancer therapy. Recent studies have highlighted the critical role of intratumoral copper levels in regulating the expression of programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1), suggesting that copper-induced cuproptosis not only enhances cancer cell death but may also amplify the effects of anti-PD-L1 antibodies (αPD-L1). However, in tumors where monotherapy with αPD-L1 shows limited efficacy, particularly in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), the role of copper-induced cuproptosis in enhancing αPD-L1 treatment efficacy and its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. Meanwhile, inadequate tumor drug accumulation and glycolysis significantly restrict the efficacy of cuproptosis. To address these challenges, we have synthesized a novel nanozyme, Pt@PCN-Cu, designed to stabilize intracellular copper accumulation and effectively induce cuproptosis. Additionally, we aim to determine whether this strong induction of cuproptosis can synergize with αPD-L1 to enhance cancer therapy, ultimately paving the way for novel strategies to improve PDAC treatment. Methods Pt@PCN-Cu was synthesized via a one-pot method, and its therapeutic potential was assessed in combination with αPD-L1 for the treatment of PDAC. Initially, the material’s properties were characterized, and its efficient cellular uptake was confirmed. Anti-tumor efficacy was evaluated by inducing cuproptosis in PDAC cell lines and xenograft models. RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) was utilized to identify key regulators involved in the modulation of PD-L1 expression by cuproptosis. Lastly, the therapeutic efficacy of Pt@PCN-Cu combined with αPD-L1 was evaluated in vivo, focusing on tumor growth inhibition and immune modulation within the tumor microenvironment (TME). Results Pt@PCN-Cu demonstrates excellent physicochemical properties and remarkable cascade catalytic activity, providing a solid foundation for further in vitro and in vivo studies. In vitro, Pt@PCN-Cu efficiently transports copper and induces cuproptosis primarily through mitochondrial dysfunction. Mechanistic studies show that Pt@PCN-Cu triggers the dissociation of hexokinase 2 (HK2) from mitochondria, leading to a reduction in HK2 activity. This decline in HK2 activity impairs glycolysis, a metabolic pathway essential for tumor energy metabolism, which in turn results in elevated PD-L1 levels. In vivo, Pt@PCN-Cu demonstrates excellent safety and accumulates at the tumor site in a subcutaneous PDAC mouse model, inducing cuproptosis. Moreover, the combination of Pt@PCN-Cu with αPD-L1 further enhanced its therapeutic efficacy and effectively reprogrammed the immunosuppressive TME. Conclusion This study presents strong evidence confirming the safety and therapeutic potential of Pt@PCN-Cu in PDAC treatment. Importantly, Pt@PCN-Cu not only induces cuproptosis but also significantly enhances antitumor efficacy in combination with αPD-L1 by regulating PD-L1 expression through HK2 modulation. These findings underscore a more effective and innovative approach for treating PDAC.

Interfacing two semiconductors for heterojuctions construction has been considered as an effective way to facilitate electron-hole separation, thus improving the photocatalytic activity. In this paper, PCN-224/g-C 3 N 4 heterojunction was constructed by PCN-224 and g-C 3 N 4 using a solvothermal method. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images reveal a well-matched, smooth interface between PCN-224 and g-C 3 N 4 , demonstrating the successful formation of a tight junction. Photoelectric performance tests confirm that the heterojunction significantly enhances the light absorption capability within the visible range and improves the efficiency of electron-hole separation. Herein, the PCN-224/g-C 3 N 4 heterojunction exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity in both disinfection and organic pollutant degradation. Under visible light irradiation (λ > 420 nm) for 3 h, it completely degraded phenol and effectively inactivated E. coli . In the photocatalytic process, electrons migrate from the conduction band of g-C 3 N 4 to PCN-224, while holes transfer from the valence band of PCN-224 to the valence band of g-C 3 N 4 , thereby generating \({\text{O}}_{2}^{{\bullet - }}\) and h + radicals. These generated radicals effectively oxidize and degrade phenol.

Anaerobic denitrification has been proved to be negatively affected by ZnO nanomaterials (NPs), but little is known about how ZnO NPs affects aerobic denitrification. In this study, inhibition of ZnO NPs to an aerobic denitrifier, Pseudomonas stutzeri PCN-1, was firstly reported. The results showed total nitrogen removal efficiency was decreased from 100% to 1.70% with the increase of ZnO NPs from 1 to 128 mg/L. The presence of ZnO NPs caused significant inhibition of gene expressions and catalytic activities of nitrate reductase and nitrite reductase, which finally led to delayed nitrate reduction and high nitrite accumulation. Further studies revealed that the deposition of nanoparticles on the bacterial surface caused by electrostatic forces and the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) were responsible for the cytotoxicity of ZnO NPs, where ROS played a more important role. These results were of significance to evaluating the potential ecological toxicity and risks of nanomaterials.

Atomically thin two-dimensional (2D) CN sheets have attracted extensive attention in the field of photocatalysis because of their shorter diffusion path of photogenerated carriers and abundant surface reaction sites than bulk CN. However, 2D CNs still exhibit poor visible-light photocatalytic activity because of a strong quantum size effect. Here, PCN-222/CNs vdWHs were successfully constructed using the electrostatic self-assembly method. The results showed that PCN-222/CNs vdWHs with 1 wt.% PCN-222 enhanced the absorption range of CNs from 420 to 438 nm, which improved the absorption capacity of visible light. Additionally, the hydrogen production rate of 1 wt.% PCN-222/CNs is four times that of the pristine 2D CNs. This study provides a simple and effective strategy for 2D CN-based photocatalysts to promote visible light absorption.Keywords:PCN-222;two-dimensional carbon nitride;van der Waals heterostructures;hydrogen production

The residues of furazolidone and its metabolites (3-amino-2-oxazolidinone [AOZ]) in food would have adverse effects on humans. Herein, a colorimetric and fluorescent dual-signal output immunochromatographic method with a zirconium-based porphyrin metal-organic framework (PCN-222) as the signal label was developed for the detection of 3-[(4-carboxyphenyl) monomethyl] amino-2-oxazolidinone (CPAOZ), a derivative of furazolidone metabolite. PCN-222 was synthesized using the solvothermal method, and the material was characterized via scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform-infrared spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction, which proved the successful synthesis of PCN-222. Synthesized PCN-222, as a nanotag, was bound to antibodies to prepare PCN-222-mAbs with dual optical properties. Under the optimized conditions, PCN-222- lateral flow assay (LFA) exhibited a great linear relationship in the range of 0.25–100 ng/mL. The visual limit detection of CPAOZ using colorimetric and fluorescent signals were 1.0 ng/mL and 0.5 ng/mL, respectively, and the sensitivity was 5- and 10-fold higher than that of the colloidal gold-based LFA method. In addition, PCN-222-LFA was successfully applied to the detection of CPAOZ in shrimp, chicken and milk samples achieving satisfactory recoveries from 92.34% to 117.44%. This study provides an alternative, convenient and sensitive method for the rapid detection of veterinary drug residues.
