MCT1 is highly expressed by activated and germinal center B cells. • Targeting MCT1 suppressed humoral response and autoimmunity. • Targeting MCT1 inhibited B cell survival by modulating NAD(H) redox state. Immunometabolism has garnered significant attention due to its essential roles in regulating B cell activation, proliferation and differentiation. Monocarboxylate transporters (MCTs), a family of solute carrier transporters responsible for lactate transport across biological membranes, have been shown to play a pivotal role in immune responses across various immune cell types. However, the expression and functional significance of MCTs in B cells remain poorly understood. In this study, we demonstrated that germinal center B cells and activated B cells exhibit elevated levels of MCT1 expression. Pharmacologically blocking MCT1 with AZD3965 inhibited both T-cell dependent and independent humoral response and ameliorated autoimmunity in the experimental autoimmune myasthenia gravis. Mechanically, MCT1 blockade led to the accumulation of intracellular lactate, which in turn suppressed NAD + regeneration, thereby inhibiting B cell activation and survival. Taken together, these findings suggest that MCT1 might be a potential therapeutical target in antibody-mediate autoimmune disease. The selective activation of inert aromatic C–H bonds for the synthesis of high-value phenols is of considerable scientific and industrial significance. Conventional free radical-based hydroxylation methods typically require ultraviolet irradiation or large amounts of sacrificial agents, which significantly limit their applicability. Here, we present a contact-electro-catalysis (CEC) approach that enables aromatic hydroxylation through hydroxyl radicals (·OH) and strong interfacial electric fields generated at the polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)–H 2 O interface via contact electrification. Using benzene as a model substrate, phenol was obtained via ·OH-mediated oxidation, and a variety of substrates with diverse electronic properties underwent efficient hydroxylation. For example, the transformation of 4-hydroxybenzoic acid yielded hydroquinone and 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid with maximum yields of 72.45 and 210.90 μmol·g cat −1 h −1 , respectively. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) confirmed the presence of ·OH, whereas nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analyses identified the products, thereby supporting mechanistic investigations. This work extends the application of contact-electro-catalysis to organic synthesis, providing a sustainable alternative despite existing challenges in selectivity and scalability.

Novel Cu/CNTs-OH interface decouples gas/ion transport for acidic CO 2 conversion. • Interfacial H-bond network via -OH groups enhances proton mobility. • Shifts selectivity from ethylene to ethanol by optimizing *H coverage and proton supply. • In situ and theoretical evidences link H-bond network to key intermediates in ethanol pathway. Electrocatalytic CO 2 reduction (ECR) offers a route to convert CO 2 into valuable fuels such as ethanol, which is favored for its high energy density and ease of storage. ECR in acidic media could suppress carbonate formation but intensify competition from the hydrogen evolution reaction, limiting the selectivity of C 2+ products. Here we introduce an interfacial H-bond network strategy by coupling Cu nanoparticles with hydroxylated carbon nanotubes (CNTs-OH) to construct proton supply and steer reaction pathways for acidic CO 2 -to-ethanol electroconversion. Molecular dynamics and distribution of relaxation times analysis show that CNTs-OH enhance CO 2 diffusion while surface -OH groups form a dynamic H-bond network, facilitating proton transport via the Grotthuss mechanism. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations, isotope labeling, and rotating disk electrode results confirm that CNTs-OH promote water dissociation, supplying protons to Cu sites. In situ spectroscopy links the H-bond network to key ethanol pathway intermediates. Consequently, the introduced H-bond network at the electrode interface yields a 2.5-fold enhancement in ethanol selectivity and a dramatic shift in the ethanol/ethylene ratio from 0.4 to 1.6. This work provides an effective materials design strategy and mechanistic insight for selective CO 2 -to-ethanol conversion in acid media.

H-bond donor (HBD) and base co-catalysis achieved great success in ring-opening polymerization (ROP). Parallel H-bond donor and Brønsted acid (HBD–BA) cocatalysis has been scarcely explored in ROPs. In developing the HBD–BA catalysis in to versatile toolbox for ring-opening polymerizations of wider scope and better control, tunable HBDs including boronate pinacol ester urea (BU), urea (U), and thiourea (TU) were evaluated in cooperation with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) in HBD–BA catalytic mode. Each of the HBD–TFA co-catalyst promoted ROPs of δ-valerolactone (VL) and ε-caprolactone (CL) successfully. The catalytic performances of the HBD–TFA on the HBD part was in an order of BU > U > TU to their corresponding ROPs of VL and CL. The turnover frequencies of the catalyzed ROPs of VL and CL by BU–TFA was twice as that of TFA. The ROPs afforded homopolymers with predicted molecular weights (PVL, M n,NMR = 2.51–9.92 kg mol −1 ; PCL, M n,NMR = 2.51–11.1 kg mol −1 ) and narrow dispersities (PVL, Đ ≤ 1.16; PCL, Đ ≤ 1.18) by ratios of monomer to initiator from 20 to 100. The obtained polymers were analyzed by 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, and MALDI-ToF MS, the results indicated the high chain-end fidelity. Chain extension experiments were conducted by a first ROP of VL/CL and second ROP of CL/VL with precise molecular weights (from 2.98 kg mol −1 to 6.15 kg mol −1 ) and narrow dispersities below 1.18. The kinetics plots showed a distinct first order relationship between ln([VL] 0 /[VL]) versus the reaction time, it indicated the controlled nature of the catalytic ROP. NMR titrations supported the proposed mechanism that HBD associated with TFA and promoted the cationic polymerization.

The development of photoredox catalysis in water allows access to green and sustainable organic synthesis. Acridinium salts are entirely organic, powerful, inexpensive, and environmentally friendly photocatalysts, but most of them have poor solubility in aqueous media, leading to a lack of control over their sizes and morphologies that play an important role in catalytic performance. To tackle this challenge, here we have devised an effective strategy for the preparation of acridinium-based photoredox nanocatalysts with controllable size and morphologies in water by using mixing-induced nanoprecipitation (MINP). These catalytic systems could be utilized for site-selective arene C–H amination in water under open air. To inhibit the degradation of acridinium salts, 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-oxyl (TEMPO) was incorporated for the enhancement of catalytic performance. Moreover, a TEMPO-containing polymer was synthesized for the co-immobilization of an acridinium salt and TEMPO to facilitate their recovery and reuse. As a proof-of-concept, this work may open up an avenue for the development of photoredox nanocatalysts with controllable size and morphologies and for their co-immobilization with other catalytic components.

We reported a low-cost and easy-to-make method to effectively generate quantum dot (QD) states in 2D hBN films for quantum emissions at room temperature by utilizing silica nanospheres, in comparison with the sophisticated nanofabrication method reported in previous studies. The QDs created in 2D hBN films using silica nanospheres exhibit pronounced photon emissions with a good photo-stability in air, a narrow distribution of the emission peaks within the range of 580–620 nm, and a directional emission pattern, behaving as a single electric dipole. Our work develops the method of controllable fabrication of quantum emitters in 2D materials by using nano materials and structures.

The Na-Al-H complex hydride was prepared by reactive ball milling (NaH/Al+CeCl3) and (NaH/Al+CeCl3/yKH) (y=0.02, 0.04) composites under a hydrogen pressure of 3 MPa at room temperature, using NaH and Al powder as raw materials, as well as 2% (molar
fraction) CeCl3 and 2% CeCl3/y% KH (y=0.02, 0.04) as dopant, respectively. The de-/hydrogenation properties show that the addition of KH can effectively improve the dehydrogenation kinetics of second decomposition step for Na-Al-H system. The (NaH/Al+CeCl3/0.02KH)
composite can complete dehydrogenation process within 20 min at 170, with good de-/hydrogenation cycling performance at relatively low temperature (100-140). Calculation by Kissenger method shows that the addition of KH could decrease the apparent activation energy of second decomposition
step for Na-Al-H system, resulting in the decrease of desorption peak temperatures. Phase structure analysis shows that the enhanced second step dehydrogenation kinetics of Na-Al-H composite system is mainly ascribed to the lattice volume expansion of Na3AlH6 resulted
from the addition of KH.

To achieve the low-temperature combination of ceramics and polymers, the core-shell structure and cold sintering method are employed to prepare ceramic/polymer composites. An easy-bonding Silica (SiO 2 ) shell was introduced onto the surface of the hard-bonding Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) core by a sol-gel method to fabricate a core-shell structured h-BN@SiO 2 composite. Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) was subsequently filled into h-BN@SiO 2 to prepare h-BN@SiO 2 /PEEK ceramic composite by a cold sintering method. The effects of PEEK content (20 vol%, 35 vol%, and 50 vol%), sintering temperature (205 °C, 245 °C, 285 °C, and 325 °C), and molding pressure (350 MPa, 450 MPa, and 550 MPa) on the dry tribological properties of h-BN@SiO 2 /PEEK ceramic composites against GCr15 bearing steel were investigated using a ball-on-disc contact configuration. Field emission transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) were used to characterize and analyze h-BN@SiO 2 or h-BN@SiO 2 /PEEK ceramic composites. The results indicate that h-BN@SiO 2 /PEEK composite exhibits better tribological performance when fabricated with a PEEK content of 35 vol%, a sintering temperature of 285 °C, and a molding pressure of 450 MPa under the investigated conditions. The formation of a stable and continuous mixed lubrication layer composed of h-BN, PEEK, and SiO 2 is identified as the primary factor contributing to the enhanced friction reduction and wear resistance. Under the investigated conditions, the main wear mechanisms observed in h-BN@SiO 2 /PEEK composites are adhesive wear, fatigue wear, and slight abrasive wear.

In this work, a highly efficient PCN-KCl (KCl-modified polymeric carbon nitride) nanosheet photocatalyst was synthesized with the assistance of KCl. The as-prepared PCN-KCl catalyst shows a more than 30-fold enhancement in the photocatalytic activity for H 2 evolution from water compared to the pristine PCN. More importantly, when PCN-KCl was composited with a second catalyst (Pd nanoparticles), the simultaneous production and utilization of active H species for alkenes hydrogenation was achieved by visible light irradiation under ambient conditions. Graphical Photo-ready : One-step photocatalytic generation of hydrogen from water and its subsequent utilization for reduction reactions was demonstrated with typical examples of olefin hydrogenation into the corresponding alkanes over a Pd/PCN-KCl bifunctional photocatalyst under mild conditions.

Babbitt alloy, the common material of the main bearing of marine diesel engines , is prone to adhesive wear in the running-in process. It will shorten the service life and affect the stability of the bearing. To improve the running-in quality of Babbitt alloy, the hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) was used as a lubricating oil additive. The running-in test was conducted by adding the h-BN with a particle size of 0.1 μm, 0.5 μm, 1 μm, and 5 μm into the base oil. The friction coefficient , wear topography, and recurrence parameters were used to assess the effect of h-BN on running-in quality. The results show that h-BN can reduce friction coefficient , enhance the stability of the friction system and improve surface quality after the running in. The h-BN with large particle size mainly plays the micro-bearing, interlayer sliding, and polishing effects. The h-BN with small particle size plays the micro-bearing, moderating impact, and surface mending effects. According to the actual conditions, one can select the appropriate particle sizes to improve running-in quality.

The development of noninvasive and sensitive detection methods for the early diagnosis and monitoring of bladder cancer is critical but challenging. Herein, an ultrasensitive electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor that uses Ru(bpy)32+–metal–organic framework (Ru-MOF) nanospheres and a DNA tetrahedral (TDN) probe was established for bladder cancer marker complement factor H-related protein (CFHR1) detection. The synthesized Ru(bpy)32+–metal–organic frameworks (Ru-MOFs) served as a linked substrate for immobilization of AuNPs and antibody (Ab2) to prepare the ECL signal probe (Ru-MOF@AuNPs-Ab2), exhibiting a stable and strengthened ECL emission. At the same time, the inherent advantages of TDN probes on the electrode as the capture probe (TDN-Ab1) improve the accessibility of targets to probes. In the presence of CFHR1, the signal probe Ru-MOF@AuNPs-Ab2 was modified on the electrode through immune binding, thereby obtaining an outstanding ECL signal. As expected, the developed ECL immunosensor exhibited splendid performance for CFHR1 detection in the range of 0.1 fg/mL to 10 pg/mL with a quite low detection limit of 0.069 fg/mL. By using the proposed strategy to detect CFHR1 from urine, it showed acceptable accuracy, which can effectively distinguish between bladder cancer patients and healthy samples. This work contributes to a novel, noninvasive, and accurate method for early clinical diagnosis of bladder cancer.
