Near-infrared II (NIR-II) luminescence imaging, with its significant advantages of deep tissue penetration and high spatial resolution, has become a promising technology for cancer diagnosis. The integration of NIR-II imaging with multifunctional therapeutic modalities has been widely explored in biomedicine, offering valuable development opportunities. Persistent luminescent nanoparticles (PLNPs) are of great interest in biomedical applications due to their ability to emit afterglow without the need for in situ excitation. However, single PLNPs exhibit limited performance in processes related to photothermal therapy (PTT) and photodynamic therapy (PDT), and there remains a lack of PLNPs-based multifunctional nanocomposites that simultaneously possess NIR-II afterglow luminescence, as well as PDT, PTT and photocatalytic therapy (PCT) properties. Herein, we report a novel multifunctional nanocomposite, ZGO@IR-820, which is composed of PLNPs (ZnGa 1.97 O 4 :Cr 0.01 ,Bi 0.02 , ZGO) and the near-infrared fluorescent dye IR-820. This nanocomposite not only exhibits NIR-II afterglow emission, but also integrates PDT, PTT and PCT properties. The NIR-II afterglow performance is achieved through the persistent luminescence resonance energy transfer between the PLNPs and IR-820. This multifunctional design expands the photophysical and photochemical properties of PLNPs-based nanocomposites, providing an innovative material design strategy for the development of precise disease diagnosis and efficient therapy.

Acrylonitrile wastewater was an organic wastewater with strong toxicity and poor biodegradability. Therefore, electro-catalytic technology became a promising acrylonitrile wastewater treatment technology because of no secondary pollution, wide application range and low water quality requirements. The optimal Mn-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode material was synthesized by thermal method and applied in electro-catalytic treatment of acrylonitrile wastewater. The electrode materials were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS and electrochemical characterization. SEM, TEM, XRD and XPS indicated that Mn and Sn were capable of incorporating and replacing the part of Ru or Ir and could alter the microstructure of Ru-Ir and the types of Mn and Sn oxides, raising the oxygen evolution potential (OEP) and voltampere charge. When the molar ratio of Mn-Sn was 1:1, OEP, voltampere charge and exchange current density could reach 1.303 V, 1.51 C/cm2 and 6.29×10-4 A/cm2, respectively. The co-doping of Mn-Sn had significant influence on the electrocatalytic performance of Ru-Ir electrode materials. The optimum synthesis conditions of Mn-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode were as follows: the molar ratio of Mn-Sn was 1:1, calcination time was 4.0 hours, calcination temperature was 450℃, and solvent was water. Under certain conditions, the removal rate of acrylonitrile with Mn-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode was 100%. Mn-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode had high oxygen evolution potential and good removal effect of acrylonitrile, which was higher than that of ruthenium iridium electrode and RuO2 electrode.

Water splitting, one of the primary strategies for advancing the utilization of hydrogen production, necessitates the input of external energies to initiate the reaction due to its thermodynamically uphill nature. Nevertheless, Ru-based compounds, which were widely used as benchmark anodic catalysts, facing significant drawbacks such as their susceptibility to dissolution, significantly restrict the overall water splitting efficiency. In this work, we introduce an approach for functionalization through combining Ru nanospheres with Ir to form a Ru@Ir core–shell structure (denoted as Ru@Ir core–shell NSs), which can activate the superior oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalytic activity, and simultaneously inherit the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance in all-pH condition. The work function difference between Ru and Ir promotes the necessary energetic impetus for electron migration from Ru to Ir, resulting in the charge redistribution. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations confirmed that the Ir shell, acting as an electron acceptor, could effectively trigger electron rearrangement, augmenting the ligand affinity of hydrogen and oxygen intermediates to attain the most favorable energy states, thereby accelerating the kinetics of hydrogen and oxygen evolution. Our suggested core–shell structure approach for manipulating interface charge distribution might find utility in creating other electrocatalysts for water splitting.

The effect of positive charges in the diphosphino-imidazolium salts of L2 was investigated in terms of coordinating character, structures of corresponding Ir-complexes and catalysis for hydroformylation. It was found that the involved positive charges exhibited strong electron-withdrawing effect on the neighbored phosphine fragment, rendering L2 more π -acceptor ability than the corresponding neutral counterpart of L1 . Consequently, the changed coordinating ability of L1 and L2 led to the variety in the structures and components for the Ir-complexes ( Ir-L1a , Ir-L1b , Ir-L2a , and Ir-L2b ). The complexation of L2 with Ir(acac)(CO) 2 led to a novel five-coordinate Ir(II)-complex of Ir-L2a chelated by a PCC (phosphine–carboanion–carbene) pincer in tripodal mode, whereas the complexation of L1 with Ir(acac)(CO) 2 led to a four-coordinate square-planar Ir(I)-complex of Ir-L1a chelated by a PCP (phosphine–carboanion–phosphine) pincer. In addition, the different catalytic performances of these Ir-complexes ligated by L1 and L2 for hydroformylation of olefins were investigated.

In this study, a lightweight composite polyimide film optic with antireflective coating was prepared using an ion-beam-assisted reactive sputtering method. It exhibited high transmittance in visible (87%, 0.5~0.8 μm), short (86%, 1.8~2.7 μm) and middle (78%, 3.3~5.4 μm) wavelength infrared regions. Additionally, it also showed great optical homogeneity (0.006 λ in RMS and 0.034 λ in PV, λ = 632.8 nm) with smooth surfaces (RMS = 0.786 nm). The thermal stability of the polyimide film was also effectively maintained after the antireflective coating. At the same time, by utilizing the hydrophobic properties of coating materials (Ta2O5/SiO2), the antireflective layer acted as an effective water barrier on the film surface to reduce the water absorption. Keywords:composite polyimide film;Ta2O5/SiO2antireflective coating;high transmittance;visible;infrared

In this paper, Pd-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode was prepared by thermal oxidation method, and the effects of doping amount of Pd-Sn and synthesis conditions on Pd-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode performance were studied. Linear sweep voltammetry(LSV), cyclic voltammetry(CV), and the Tafel curve were used to study the electrochemical performance of the Pd-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode materials. The effects of the doping amount of Pd-Sn on the microstructure and valence states of Pd-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode materials were investigated by SEM, TEM, XRD, and XPS. When the mass of Pd-Sn accounted for 1.5% of the total mass of the elements, the molar ratio of Ru-Ir was 2:1, and the molar ratio of Pd-Sn was 3:1; the LSV, CV, and the Tafel curves indicated that Pd-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode had the lowest chlorine evolution potential (1.0640 V vs. SCE), the best CV curve coincidence, and the smallest corrosion current density (6.5 × 10 −4 A/cm 2 ), showing the best chlorine evolution performance, the best durability, and corrosion resistance; the characterization of SEM, TEM, XRD, and XPS showed that Pd-Sn was successfully doped into Ru-Ir electrode materials; the crystallinity of Pd-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode was the highest, and the binding energy was the lowest, but the crystal form of Ru-Ir solid solution did not have changed. The optimal synthesis conditions of Pd-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode material were as follows: Pd-Sn molar ratio was 3:1, calcination temperature was 500 ℃, calcination time was 4 h, and water was used as solvent. Pd-Sn modified Ru-Ir electrode can efficiently treat high chlorine ammonia–nitrogen wastewater, when the reaction volume was 200 mL, the initial concentration of NH 3 -N was 100 mg/L, the concentration of chloride ion was 5000 mg/L, the current was 0.75 A, and the reaction time was 40 min; the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen can reach 100%. A series of MoO x -promoted Ir/BN catalysts were tested for liquid phase selective hydrogenation of crotonaldehyde. The MoO x -promotion could significantly improve the reactivity up to 5-fold. Such improvement was mainly due to the formation of Ir-MoO x interfacial sites in the promoted catalyst, which accelerated the adsorption and activation of crotonaldehyde molecule as evidenced by a much lower activation energy (18.9 kJ mol −1 on the 0.3Mo-3Ir/BN versus 38.4 kJ mol −1 on the 3Ir/BN). The kinetic results revealed negative reaction order of crotonaldehyde (up to -1.1) and high reaction order of H 2 (up to 2.2), indicating the high coverage of crotonaldehyde on the catalyst surface suppressed the adsorption of H 2 due to its low solubility in the liquid phase. Therefore, the adsorption and activation of H 2 on the catalyst might be the rate determining step. However, the preferred adsorption of crotonaldehyde on the Ir-MoO x interface alleviated the suppression of H 2 adsorption, which was another reason for the higher activity.

Nitroaromatic explosives in wastewater are hardly degraded, which seriously endangers the ecological environment and human safety. We report a core–shell structure hybrid material (IR-MOF3@COF-LZU1) with high crystallinity and graded porosity. It is an effective visible-light-driven photocatalyst that degrades p-nitrophenol (PNP). After 3.5 h, PNP was degraded well under visible light, and it is proven that the photocatalytic degradation is efficient. In addition, this photocatalytic activity adhered to pseudo-first-order kinetics, and a possible photocatalytic mechanism was discussed in detail.

Developing cost-effective bifunctional electrocatalysts with low kinetic overpotential and superior stability for both the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is crucial to build a water splitting system for advancing the production of hydrogen fuel. Herein, we report a bifunctional catalyst by doping atomic Ir into a NiCo layered double hydroxide (LDH) using a facile atmospheric solvothermal method and subsequent spontaneous galvanic displacement. The as-synthesized atomic Ir-doped NiCo LDH exhibits much better durability for over 200 h than the NiCo LDH with the loading of Ir nanoparticles, due to the fine doping of atomic Ir into the crystal lattice of LDH. Benefiting from the synergistic effects in the HER/OER processes, as well as the large electrochemically active surface area and the improved electrical conductivity, the atomic Ir-doped NiCo LDH couple results in an unprecedented performance for overall water splitting with a low cell voltage of 1.45 V at 10 mA cm−2 in a 1.0 M KOH electrolyte. Finally, a practical solar-driven water splitting system with a solar-to-hydrogen efficiency of 14.8% is demonstrated, outperforming the state-of-the-art analogous systems based on ordinary Si solar cells.

Different from fluorescent dyes-doped or carbon materials-based ratiometric tetracycline nanoprobes, herein, a new Ir(III) complex-doped and europium(III) ion (Eu 3+ )-functionalized silicon nanoparticles (Ir(III)@SiNPs-Eu 3+ ) with long luminescent lifetimes was firstly fabricated for selective detection of tetracycline (TC) in complex systems through time-resolved emission spectra (TRES) measurement. In the presence of TC, the red phosphorescence of Eu 3+ is greatly enhanced by adsorption energy transfer emission (AETE) of TC, while the strong green luminescence of Ir(III)@SiNPs is quenched by the inner filtration effect (IFE) of TC. Based on these striking emission changes, Ir(III)@SiNPs-Eu 3+ can sensitively detect TC in the linear range of 0.01–20 μM with a detection limit of 4.9 × 10 –3 μM. Benefitting from the long lifetime of Ir(III)@SiNPs-Eu 3+ , the nanoprobe demonstrates excellent TC detection performance through TRES in high background system of 5 % human serum. Furthermore, the formed Ir(III)@SiNPs-Eu 3+ /TC complex can be used to sensitively recognize Hg 2+ via a ratiometric luminescence mode. Notably, the cytotoxicity of Ir(III)@SiNPs-Eu 3+ is very low and thus the sensitive monitoring the detection of Ir(III)@SiNPs-Eu 3+ to TC and Hg 2+ also works well in porcine renal cells, demonstrating high application potential in real samples.

Pt-Decorated Ir black (Pt@Ir) nanoparticles with two varying Pt mass fractions (Pt4@Ir96 and Pt16@Ir84) were generated by a facile method in water with the aid of Ir black. The Pt@Ir nanoparticles were investigated as a bifunctional oxygen catalysts for both the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in acidic medium. Benefiting from the good dispersion of ultrafine Pt nanodots on the Ir black surface and the synergistic effect between the Pt and underlying Ir atoms, Pt@Ir nanoparticles have exhibited outstanding ORR activity and comparable OER performance in comparison with commercial Ir black. In particular, Pt16@Ir84 shows an ORR mass activity of 2.6 times that of commercial Pt black and exhibits much better bifunctional performances than a mixture of Pt black and Ir black with a Ir/Pt mass ratio of 50/50 (Pt50Ir50). Our work highlights the effectiveness of decorating Ir black with Pt nanodots to fabricate bifunctional oxygen catalysts.

Background The enrichment of sugar phosphates (SPx) from complex biological samples was of significant importance for elucidating their roles in physiological and pathological processes. However, the detection of SPx faced numerous challenges due to the high structural similarity among its isomers, its extremely low abundance within cells, the complexity of biological samples, and the inefficiency and cumbersome nature of traditional enrichment methods. Therefore, there was an urgent need to develop an efficient enrichment technique, leveraging the advantages of magnetic separation to achieve precise detection of sugar phosphates in biological samples. Results A novel magnetic material, Fe 3 O 4 @UiO-66-Br, was synthesized for efficient and convenient enrichment of SPx in biological samples. The material exhibited a high specific surface area (225.08 m 2 /g) and strong magnetism (33.61 emu·g −1 ). Only 600 μg of Fe 3 O 4 @UiO-66-Br was required to completely adsorb five types of SPx within 4 min. The adsorption process was pH-tolerant and can be accomplished simply by standing. Kinetic, thermodynamic, and isotherm studies revealed favorable adsorption properties, characterized as spontaneous and endothermic monolayer chemisorption. Mechanistic studies using XPS, FT-IR, and DFT identified multiple interactions, including coordination, hydrogen bonding, and electrostatic interactions. The analytical protocol featured a wide linear range (0.01–10000 ng/mL), low detection limits (0.002–0.01 ng/mL), high precision (RSD<13.21 %), and accuracy (80.05 %–116.41 %). Significance The protocol was successfully applied to real blood samples, demonstrating the potential of magnetic MOFs for SPx adsorption and detection. This novel material and protocol provided an efficient approach for enriching and detecting trace SPx in complex biological matrices, facilitating further studies on their roles in physiological and pathological processes.
