Recent advances in flexible metal-organic framework (MOF) films have injected momentum into the development of wearable gas sensors. However, current MOF-based wearable sensors suffer from mutual interference and often compromise in power consumption and wearing comfort, limiting their suitability for skin-interfaced applications. Here, we report a wireless, battery-free, wearable gas sensor patch based on a flexible inductance-capacitance (LC) resonator. This sensor features a bilayer flexible film composed of a 2D bimetallic Cu/Co-HHTP conjugate MOF (c-MOF) sensing layer and a Pd/SSZ-13 zeolite overlayer. Specifically, the zeolite overlayer functions as an NO2-adsorbing interface that captures incoming NO2 molecules, thereby preventing them from reacting with the underlying 2D c-MOF sensing layer. Accordingly, the wireless sensor achieves linear and interference-resistant detection of low concentrated NH3 even in the presence of NO2, while maintaining excellent mechanical flexibility, cyclic stability, and negligible baseline drift, exhibiting less than 6.2% response attenuation after repeated bending at 120°. The performance of the device is further validated through a skin-adherent, wireless, passive sensing system capable of continuous NH3 monitoring in complex environments. The proposed wireless wearable MOF-based sensor patch is highly transformative, offering benefits for various wearable applications. Device performance under high-humidity conditions is still constrained, indicating that further optimization is necessary.

Ammonia (NH 3 ) is a toxic and pungent gas with significant implications for environmental monitoring, industrial safety, and human health. Therefore, the development of high-performance sensors for NH 3 detection at room temperature is of great necessity. This work develops a Bi 2 MoO 6 /Ti 3 C 2 T x 2D/2D heterostructure-based NH 3 gas sensor. The material demonstrated outstanding NH 3 sensing characteristics, involving high sensitivity (R a /R g =25.6 at 100 ppm), quick response time (21 s), and quick recovery time (72 s) at room temperature. Meanwhile, the sensor demonstrated prominent stability, repeatability, humidity-resistant, and an optimal operating temperature for NH 3 detection. Density functional theory (DFT) simulations were applied to examine the adsorption behavior of NH 3 on the Bi 2 MoO 6 /Ti 3 C 2 T X surface, which shed light on the sensing process. Additionally, a prototype detection system was developed to monitor NH 3 emissions from spoiled fish samples, illustrating how this sensor could be applied to monitor food safety.

The competitive adsorption and activation of H 2 and NH 3 molecules presents a fundamental challenge in catalytic reductive amination for sustainable amine synthesis. In this study, we address this issue by constructing a Ni/NbW 0.3 catalyst featuring a W-O-Nb composite oxide support designed to selectively enhance NH 3 adsorption and activation. Comprehensive characterization confirms that W doping creates a unique NbW x O (5/2+3x) structure with abundant W-O-Nb bridges, which generates strong Brønsted acid sites. These sites significantly enhance NH 3 protonation, thereby selectively promoting the rate-determining hydroammonolysis step by enhancing nucleophilic addition on the Schiff base intermediate. Hence, the Ni/NbW 0.3 catalyst delivers 99.9% yield of furfurylamine from the reductive amination of furfural, with a formation rate of 0.025 mol·g⁻ 1 ·h⁻ 1 under mild conditions (60 °C, 3 MPa H 2 , 0.4 MPa NH 3 ). Kinetic analyses reveal that the W-O-Nb structure substantially reduces both the activation energy (26.9 kJ·mol⁻ 1 ) and NH 3 reaction order (0.58), while poisoning experiments verify the essential role of Brønsted acid sites. The catalyst also demonstrates broad substrate adaptability and excellent recyclability. This work provides fundamental insights into the relationship between acid site engineering and reductive amination kinetics, establishing the W-O-Nb heterostructure design as an effective strategy for developing advanced amination catalysts.

Designing a gas sensor equipped with the ability to detect ppb-level ammonia at room temperature remains a substantial challenge. The strategy of enhancing interfacial molecular interactions via interfacial charge transfer is highly feasible for the detection of low-concentration gases. In the research, a mixed-dimensional WS 2 /ZnS heterojunction was synthesized for ammonia detection. The results show that the sensor exhibits an ultra-sensitive ammonia response. The theoretical limit of detection (LOD) for the WS 2 /ZnS sensor is 7.3 ppb NH 3 . Additionally, the sensor delivers excellent sensitivity, selectivity, and long-term stability. WS 2 /ZnS heterojunction facilitates the chemisorption and diffusion of ammonia. In-situ data and structure analysis reveal that interfacial charge transfer induces the polarization of W-S bonds, facilitating the adsorption of ammonia and the gas-sensing reaction between ammonia and oxygen anions, thereby accelerating the kinetics of the gas-sensing reaction. This work highlights the great potential for constructing a strong chemical bond polarization to improve the detection of low-concentration ammonia of WS 2 -based sensors.

The selective catalytic oxidation of NH 3 (NH 3 -SCO) is a key technology for controlling NH 3 emissions, but conventional MnO x catalysts suffer from low N 2 selectivity and moderate activity. In this work, a series of MMnO x (M = Mo, W, Sm) bimetallic oxide catalysts were fabricated to regulate the acid–redox properties of MnO x through interactions with secondary metal species for highly efficient NH 3 oxidation. The characterization results show that the introduction of M components can significantly enhance the specific surface area and NH 3 adsorption capacity of MnO x , which generates synergistic adsorption and oxidation functions for NH 3 activation, thereby promoting NH 3 -SCO reaction via internal selective catalytic reduction (i-SCR) pathway. Sm significantly enhances the redox properties and surface oxygen vacancies of MnO x , which facilitates the activation of NH 3 . Consequently, SmMnO x achieves 90% NH 3 conversion at 255 °C (60 °C lower than MnO x ) with > 85% N 2 selectivity. In contrast, W addition suppresses the oxidation ability due to the formation of MnWO 4 species, leading to poor low-temperature activity. Mo addition also forms MnMoO 4 , but the increased surface area, enhanced acidity, and separation of active sites allow MoMnO x to outperform MnO x . These findings indicate that constructing M–Mn binary active sites can regulate the balance between surface acidity and oxidation capability, thereby providing a design strategy for high-performance Mn-based NH 3 -SCO catalysts through the rational selection of secondary metal components to establish complementary adsorption–redox functions.

Metal oxides derived from metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have garnered significant attention for gas sensing owing to their superior properties and unique architectures. Doping is an effective strategy for enhancing gas-sensing capabilities. In this study, core–shell–structured Y-doped ZnO nanocages are synthesized via a two-step ZIF-8-templated calcination strategy. Material characterizations reveal that Zn and O are uniformly distributed and highly enriched within the core and shell layers, whereas the distribution of Y within the cavity establishes a highly conductive network throughout the nanocage. The 4Y-ZnO sensor demonstrate competitive room-temperature ammonia-sensing performance; it yields a high response of 602 toward 500 ppm NH 3 with satisfactory selectivity and a detection limit of 0.64 ppm. Mechanistic investigations reveal that Y doping promotes oxygen-vacancy formation, thus enhancing the adsorption of the target gas to amplify gas-sensing reactions, whereas the inherited core–shell architecture provides a substantially enlarged surface area for efficient gas diffusion. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations confirm that Y doping effectively enhances charge transfer and modulates the surface electronic structure, thus promoteing selective NH 3 adsorption and supporting the experimentally observed high sensitivity and selectivity. In this study, high-performance MOF-derived gas sensors are designed through synergistic structural and compositional optimization.

Polyaniline (PANI) is an important conductive-polymer gas-sensing material with working temperature and mechanical flexibilities superior to those of conventional metal oxide sensing materials. However, its applicability is limited by its low sensitivity, high detection limits, and long response/recovery times. In this study, we prepared PANI/WS2composites via chemical oxidative polymerization and mechanical blending. A multilayer sensor structure—sequentially printed silver-paste heating electrodes, fluorene polyester insulating layer, silver interdigitated electrodes, and sensing material layer—was fabricated on a polyimide substrate via flexible microelectronic printing and systematically characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The optimized 5 wt% WS2composite showed enhanced gas-sensing performance, with 219.1% sensitivity to 100 ppm ammonia (2.4-fold higher than that of pure PANI) and reduced response and recovery times of 24 and 91 s, respectively (compared to 81 and 436 s for pure PANI, respectively). Notably, the PANI/WS2sensor detected an ultralow ammonia concentration (100 ppb) with 0.104% sensitivity. The structural characterization and performance analysis results were used to deduce a mechanism for the enhanced sensing capability. These findings highlight the application potential of PANI/WS2composites in flexible gas sensors and provide fundamental insights for PANI-based sensing materials research.

The removal of NOₓ emissions from flue gas by NH 3 selective catalytic reduction (SCR) over catalysts has always been a challenge due to poisoning from the contained water and sulfur. This study demonstrates that rather than poisoning, the contained H 2 O and SO 2 can work positively through an in-situ sulfation process for CoMn 2 O 4 /CeTiOₓ (CMCT) catalysts, thus providing a synergistic effect for CO oxidation and NH 3 -SCR for improving the catalyst activity and selectivity. The obtained sulfated catalyst, achieves over 90 % conversion for NOₓ and about 100 % for CO with nearly 90 % N 2 selectivity at 225–350 °C. The mechanism studies are conducted and the enhanced effect for NH 3 -SCR is revealed from the formed Brønsted acid, surface sulfates, and the reactive oxygen species (O*) generated during CO oxidation. Furthermore, the function of CO adsorption is explored in separating reaction sites and suppressing excessive NH 3 oxidation for achieving high N 2 selectivity.

WO 3 –CeO 2 –TiO 2 catalysts for NO (nitrogen monoxide) reduction by ammonia were prepared by a sol–gel method. The catalysts were characterized by BET, XRD, Raman, NH 3 /NO adsorption and H 2 -TPR to investigate the relationships among the catalyst composition, structure, redox property, acidity and deNO x activity. WO 3 –CeO 2 –TiO 2 catalysts show a high activity in a broad temperature range of 200–480 °C. The low-temperature activity of catalysts is sensitive to the catalyst composition especially under low-O 2 -content atmospheres. It may be related to the synergistic effect between CeO x and WO x in the catalysts. On one hand, the interaction between ceria and tungsten oxide promotes the activation of gaseous oxygen to compensate the lattice oxygen consumed in NH 3 -SCR (selective catalytic reduction) reaction at low temperatures. Meanwhile, the Brønsted acid sites mainly arise from tungsten oxides, Lewis acid sites mainly arise from ceria. Both of the Brønsted and Lewis acid sites facilitate the adsorption of NH 3 on catalysts and improve the stability of the adsorbed ammonia species, which are beneficial to the NH 3 -SCR reaction.

Ca salts in fly ash have a deactivation effect on SCR catalyst. In this study, the deactivation mechanism of Ca on Ce/TiO 2 catalyst was investigated in term of the in situ DRIFT study. The experimental results indicate that the poisoning effect increases with reaction temperature. From the results of in situ DRIFT study, it may be concluded that the NH 3 -SCR reaction over Ce/TiO 2 catalyst takes place though two pathways: the L -H mechanisms (<200 °C) and the E-R mechanism (>200 °C). For Ce/TiO 2 -Ca, the NH 3 -SCR reaction over it is mainly controlled by L -H mechanism. The deactivation of Ce/TiO 2 -Ca lies in the following two aspects: (1) the inhibited NH 3 adsorption and NO oxidation (<200 °C); (2) the greatly suppressed NH 3 adsorption and activation (>200 °C).

The energy-intensive Haber-Bosch process for ammonia synthesis necessitates sustainable alternatives, electrochemical nitrate reduction (eNO3RR) is emerging as a promising route to address nitrate pollution. However, it faces a critical bottleneck: the low ammonia selectivity arising from competitive hydrogen evolution. Herein, we introduce copper carbon dots-supported iron phthalocyanine (Cu-CDs/FePc) - a electrocatalyst featuring dynamic Cu–Fe dual sites that steer tandem e–/H+ delivery for efficient NH3 electrosynthesis. It achieves an outstanding ammonia yield of 17.69 mg h–1 mgcat.–1 with a remarkable Faradaic efficiency of 91.0% at −0.7 V vs RHE in acid conditions, which surpasses many reported transition metal-based electrocatalysts for eNO3RR. In-situ FTIR spectroscopy and density functional theory (DFT) calculations elucidate that dynamic Cu–Fe dual sites orchestrate directional electron–proton relay chains through electronic complementarity: Electron-deficient Cu2+ centers intensify NO3– adsorption/activation, while electron-enriched Fe2+ sites drive *NO2 protonation, and interfacial charge shuttling initiates valence oscillations (Cu+/Cu2+ and Fe2+/Fe3+) effectively lower rate-determining step energy barrier, thereby boosting ammonia selectively while simultaneously suppressing hydrogen evolution. Furthermore, the catalyst exhibits robust stability over 100 h and practical versatility in zinc-air battery systems. This work presents a rational design strategy for high-performance eNO3RR catalysts, offering a significant advance toward efficient green ammonia synthesis and environmental remediation.

In this work, V-Pt-Ti catalysts were synthesized employing impregnation (IP), precipitation (PC), sol-gel (SG), thermal decomposition (TD), and hydrothermal (HD) methods. A systematic study has been carried out to investigate impacts of various preparation methods on the performance of NH3selective catalytic oxidation (SCO) at temperatures from 150 °C to 450 °C. N2adsorption/desorption, XPS, XRD, H2-TPR, NH3-TPD, O2-TPD, SEM, TEM, and in situ DRIFTS were adopted to characterize the physico-chemical property of V-Pt-Ti catalysts. The results suggested that V-Pt-Ti catalysts synthesized by precipitation methods (denoted as VPT-PC) exhibited notably better SCO performance across the 150–450 °C temperature range compared with those produced by impregnation (IP), sol-gel (SG), thermal decomposition (TD), and hydrothermal (HD) methods. The outstanding performance of the VPT-PC catalyst could be ascribed to its larger surface area, higher relative contents of Pt0, V5+, and Oα, more abundant surface acid sites, and better redox property. In situ DRIFTS results suggested that NO2species could participate in NH3oxidation reaction on the surface of the VPT-PC catalyst, which was beneficial for improving the SCO activity.
