All-solid-state Z-scheme CdS/QDs/ZnIn 2 S 4 architectures with MoS 2 quantum dots as solid-state electron mediator were successfully designed and constructed by optimally combining one-dimensional CdS nanorods, zero-dimensional MoS 2 quantum dots (QDs) and two-dimensional ZnIn 2 S 4 nanosheets. The photocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen evolution demonstrated that such structural design can synergistically trigger remarkably improved visible-light-driven photocatalytic activity. Photocatalytic H 2 -evolution at 2107.5 μmol g −1 h −1 was achieved on this CdS/QDs/ZnIn 2 S 4 architectures under visible light irradiation, exceeding those of bare CdS nanorods and pure ZnIn 2 S 4 nanosheets by a factor of 26 and 62, respectively. This highly efficient photocatalytic activity arises from the effective charge separation and favourable electron mediator of MoS 2 QDs. The Z-scheme charge separation mechanism was verified by the ESR, PL-TA and organic electron acceptor test.

Colloidal CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) quantum dots (PQDs) typically suffer from severe degradation under heat, moisture, and UV/blue light irradiation, primarily due to the dynamic detachment and mismatch of surface ligands. Recently, ligand-free template-assisted strategies have emerged as an effective approach to address these challenges by regulating PQD growth through spatial confinement within nanoporous matrices. However, most reported systems are restricted to powder or thin-film forms and lack a robust, transparent, and device-compatible macroscopic architecture. In this work, we for the first time report a ligand-free in situ confined growth strategy for PQDs within a transparent nanoporous poly(methylsilsesquioxane) (PMSQ) xerogel monolith. The nanopores of the hydrophobic PMSQ template provide effective spatial confinement for the PQDs, which suppresses aggregation of PQDs and reduces nonradiative trap states, thereby enabling a high photoluminescence quantum yield exceeding 92% and excellent thermal stability, moisture stability, and photostability. Furthermore, the strategy is extended to synthesize CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) QDs@PXMs with tunable emission across the visible spectral range from 417.6 to 674.2 nm. A white light-emitting diode fabricated using CsPbBr3 QDs@PXMs and commercial K2SiF6: Mn4+ phosphors achieves a luminous efficiency of 110 lm W–1 and a wide color gamut reaching 133% of the NTSC 1931 standard. These findings demonstrate that CsPbX3 QDs@PXMs constitute robust and high-performance PQD-based composite materials suitable for high-quality lighting and wide-color-gamut display applications.

Clean and sustainable photoelectric technology has been developed rapidly in many fields. One of which is the novel marine corrosion protection technology that directly utilizes the abundant solar energy falling on the ocean to provide photoinduced cathodic protection for metallic structures, and has received increasing attention year by year. Improving the photoelectrochemical conversion and photoelectric cathodic protection performance for metals under sunlight is vital for achieving effective protection. In particular, optimizing the multi-dimensional nanostructured photoanode to accelerate the collection and transfer of photogenerated electrons and to improve the photoelectric and cathodic protection performance is a promising method. Here, an ultrafine branched anatase TiO2 nanolawn (NL) photoanode co-decorated with CdS nanoparticles and reduced graphene oxide quantum dots (rGO QDs) was prepared. Compared with single CdS modified TiO2 NL, the three-phase junction CdS/rGO QDs/TiO2 NL shows further enhanced photoelectrochemical conversion performance under simulated sunlight and visible light irradiation, increased by 66.7% and 83.3% compared to that of CdS/TiO2 NL, respectively. The rGO QDs, which acted as a high-efficiency electron transporter, are uniformly deposited on the TiO2 NL, and further promote the transport efficiency of photogenerated electrons. CdS as a visible-light responder is responsible for broadening the spectral response, and the ultrafine branched TiO2 NL substrate greatly expands the photon capture area and increases the electron collection sites. Finally, the synergy of the above three aspects ensures that the ternary CdS/rGO QDs/TiO2 NL photoanode exhibits further enhanced simulated sunlight-driven and visible light-driven photoelectric conversion efficiency and a photoinduced cathodic protection effect on 316L stainless steel and pure copper.

In this study, a novel integrated photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor platform was proposed, utilizing an optical fiber (OF) as the working electrode for guided in situ light. A CdS quantum dots (QDs)/ZnO nanosheets (NSs) n-n heterojunction was quickly and easily constructed on the OF surface by successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR). Au nanoparticles (NPs)@dsDNA as a capturing probe were modified on the CdS QDs/ZnO NSs@OF (CZ@OF). Due to the energy transfer between Au NPs@dsDNA and CdS QDs, the resultant opto-electrode has a lower background near zero, enabling the “signal-on” detection of biomarkers (interleukin-6 (IL-6) as a model). The OF-PEC biosensor demonstrated a wide linear range from 1 to 100 pg mL–1 with a regression coefficient (R2) of 0.9958 and an impressive detection limit (LOD) of 0.19 pg mL–1. More significantly, the proposed OF-PEC can be successfully used for the detection of IL-6 in serum samples from patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension, and it showed consistency and is more sensitive to trace concentrations compared to BD FACSCanto II flow cytometry used at the hospital. This holds significance for an early disease diagnosis. Therefore, the proposed OF-PEC not only achieves integration of the light source and sensing interface but also enables sensitive and accurate “signal-on” detection of IL-6. Furthermore, due to the flexibility and remote detection capabilities of OF, the application of OF-PEC is expected to be expanded more widely. This approach opens up possibilities for advances in PEC sensing.

Mitophagy is a distinct physiological process that can have beneficial or deleterious effects in particular tissues. Prior research suggests that mitophagic activity can be triggered by CaO2-PM-CsPbBr3 QDs, yet the specific role that mitophagy plays in hepatic injury induced by CaO2-PM-CsPbBr3 QDs has yet to be established. Accordingly, in this study a series of mouse model- and cell-based experiments were performed that revealed the ability of CaO2-PM-CsPbBr3 QDs to activate mitophagic activity. Golm1 was upregulated in response to CaO2-PM-CsPbBr3 QDs treatment, and overexpressing Golm1 induced autophagic flux in the murine liver and hepatocytes, whereas knocking down Golm1 had the opposite effect. CaO2-PM-CsPbBr3 QDs were also able to Golm1 expression, in turn promoting the degradation of P53 and decreasing the half-life of this protein. Overexpressing Golm1 was sufficient to suppress the apoptotic death of hepatocytes in vitro and in vivo, whereas the knockdown of Golm1 had the opposite effect. The ability of Golm1 to promote p53-mediated autophagy was found to be associated with the disruption of Beclin-1 binding to Bcl-2, and the Golm1 N-terminal domain was determined to be required for p53 interactions, inducing autophagic activity in a manner independent of helicase activity or RNA binding. Together, these results indicate that inhibiting Golm1 can promote p53-dependent autophagy via disrupting Beclin-1 binding to Bcl-2, highlighting a novel approach to mitigating liver injury induced by CaO2-PM-CsPbBr3 QDs.
