In this work, Ag/CuBi 2 O 4 composite photocatalyst films with excellent photocatalytic sterilization properties were prepared by photodeposition. The photocatalytic activity of silver-modified CuBi 2 O 4 (Ag/CuBi 2 O 4 ) under the photocatalytic-Fenton coupling system was verified by its inactivation rate of Escherichia coli in seawater. The results showed that the photocatalytic sterilizing performance of CuBi 2 O 4 loaded with Ag in the presence of trace amounts of H 2 O 2 was significantly improved. 15Ag/CuBi 2 O 4 possessed the optimal photocatalytic activity, and its sterilizing rate in 30 min could reach 96.6%. Its sterilization rate in 30 min could reach 96.6%, which is about 70% higher than that of pure CuBi 2 O 4 . Meanwhile, the mechanism of the enhanced sterilization performance of Ag/CuBi 2 O 4 in the photocatalytic-Fenton coupled system was investigated. Firstly, according to the electrochemical results, the loading of Ag can significantly improve the charge separation efficiency of CuBi 2 O 4 . And promotes the conversion of H 2 O 2 to hydroxyl radicals(·OH); Secondly, the valence band potential of 15Ag/CuBi 2 O 4 is more positive than that of CuBi 2 O 4 , which suggests that Ag loading can enhance the oxidation of CuBi 2 O 4 cavities. Comprehensive radical trapping experiments demonstrate that ·OH and holes (h + ) are the main active species for inactivating Escherichia coli (E. coli). In this work, effective conversion of H 2 O 2 to ·OH in a wide spectral range was achieved by loading Ag nanoparticles on the surface of CuBi 2 O 4 , which provides a new idea for the development of photocatalytic-Fenton coupling technology and ballast water treatment. Two plant oils were used as raw materials to synthesize a more stable edible coating. • The coating offered antibacterial-antioxidant, moisture-retaining, and aroma-preserving functions. • The addition of β-carotene enhances the dispersion and antioxidant activity of grape seed oil. • The coating suppressed the formation of spoilage-related volatile compounds. Meat products are prone to drip loss, lipid oxidation, and microbial contamination during storage, leading to quality deterioration and flavor loss, thereby limiting shelf life. To address these issues, a triple-functional “O-O" oil-based coating with antibacterial-antioxidant activity, moisture retention, and flavor preservation was developed by combining β-cyclodextrin/cinnamaldehyde essential oil (β-CD@CEO) with β-carotene/grape seed oil (β-Car/GSO). The coating exhibited sustained release of CEO through β-CD encapsulation, maintaining stable antibacterial activity of approximately 80%–85% against B. thermosphacta and P. fragi within 24 h. β-Car and GSO formed a stable oil phase and exhibited synergistic antioxidant effects, significantly enhancing radical scavenging capacity, with DPPH • and ABTS •+ values of 86.17 ± 1.08% and 85.28 ± 1.20%, while inhibiting lipid oxidation and TVB-N accumulation, thereby extending the shelf life of lamb by 4 days under refrigerated storage at 4 °C. In addition, the coating reduced moisture loss by suppressing water migration, decreasing weight loss by about 19.92% after 9 days of refrigerated storage. GC-O-MS analysis demonstrated that the coating suppressed the formation of spoilage-related volatile compounds while maintaining the relative stability of key aroma compounds. This study provides a novel strategy for the design of novel multifunctional “O-O" type oil-based coatings and highlights their potential application in the preservation of active oil-based meat products. Ultratrace amounts of isoprene in exhaled breath are a well-distinguished biomarker for lung cancer, and detecting isoprene by a sensor can be a fast and non-invasive screening method. However, a significant challenge lies in sensing sensitivity, selectivity, and humidity resistance to detect ppb-level of isoprene in breath, which relies on expensive noble-metal-based materials. Herein, this work develops cost-effective In 2 O 3 -based sensors with nanoflower morphology assembled by 2D nanolaminae that facilitates the diffusion of low-concentration isoprene to attain high sensitivity. Transition metal oxides (e.g., Cr and Cu) were introduced to modulate the electronic structure by constructing a heterojunction for enhanced humidity resistance. As-prepared Cr 2 O 3 @In 2 O 3 nanolamina presents a high surface area of 71.7 m 2 ‧g -1 and active surface oxygen species of 57.9%, while the Cu doping disrupts the nanolamina structure of In 2 O 3 support due to the aliovalent interactions. Consequently, Cr 2 O 3 @In 2 O 3 nanolamina exhibits a detection limit of 10 ppb isoprene with good selectivity, and it is highly resistant to water vapor in exhaled breath, and demonstrates good stability during long-term operation. These findings demonstrate Cr 2 O 3 @In 2 O 3 nanolamina as a viable candidate for the detection of isoprene in breath, and verify the effectiveness of non-noble metal doping for applications of highly sensitive and stable gas sensors.

The purification of dye wastewater plays a critical role in water pollution treatment. Adsorption is a cheap and effective separation technology but is limited by the reuse of adsorption materials. Ultrafiltration membranes have a relatively high flux but their pores are too large to reject small dye molecules. In this study, negatively charged oxidized poly (arylene sulfide sulfone) (O-PASS) membrane, NMP pretreatment oxidized O-PASS (N-O-PASS) membrane, and O-PASS@UiO-66-NH 2 /O-PASS composite membranes were fabricated to retain cationic methylene blue (MB) from wastewater by combining ultrafiltration and adsorption techniques. The increased porosity of the N-O-PASS membrane provides more available adsorption sites for an equilibrium MB adsorption amount of 22.5 (mg g −1 ) and 100% rejection in the first 10 min during ultrafiltration with a pure water flux of 162.32 (L m −2 h −1 bar −1 ). Due to the enhanced hydrophilicity and separating property by deposited UiO-66-NH 2 particles and PASS resin, O-PASS@UiO-66-NH 2 /O-PASS composite membrane shows a flux of 170.32 (L m −2 h −1 bar −1 ) and a 100% MB rejection in 60 min with great reusability. The O-PASS@UiO-66-NH 2 /O-PASS composite membrane is a new promising membrane for the removal of dyes from wastewater. Meanwhile, the superior solvent resistance endows it great adaptability in wide applications, especially in harsh conditions.

The Janus nanoparticles stabilized Pickering emulsions showed great application potential in various fields, including enhanced oil recovery (EOR). In this study, the amphiphilic Janus-SiO 2 nanoparticles (Janus-C12) are successfully synthesized by the Pickering emulsion method and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), ζ-potential and contact angle measurements. The phase inversion from oil-in-water (O/W), multiple oil-in-water-oil (O/W/O) emulsion, to water-in-oil (W/O) emulsions was observed with the delicate control for the modification degrees of Janus-C12. The possible emulsification mechanisms for various Janus-C12 stabilized emulsions were proposed. The multiple O/W/O emulsion stability in harsh conditions and the influence factors (nanoparticles concentration, water/oil volume ratio and NaCl concentration) were studied systematically. Moreover, the Janus-C12–79% stabilized multiple O/W/O Pickering emulsions exhibited excellent EOR performance (additional oil recovery of 27.2%) in core flooding tests, and the possible EOR mechanism was explored via microscopic visualization experiments.

A molecularly imprinted copolymer, poly( o -phenylenediamine- co - o -aminophenol) (PoPDoAP), was prepared as a new ascorbic acid (AA) sensor. The copolymer was synthesized by incorporation of AA as template molecules during the electrochemical copolymerization of o -phenylenediamine and o -aminophenol, and complementary sites were formed after the copolymer was electrochemically reduced in ammonium aqueous solution. The molecularly imprinted copolymer sensor exhibited a high sensitivity and selectivity toward AA. Differential pulse voltammograms (DPVs) showed a linear concentration range of AA from 0.1 to 10 mM, and the detection limit was calculated to be 36.4 μM. Compared to conventional polyaniline-based AA sensors, the analytical performance of the imprinted copolymer sensor was improved due to the broadened usable pH range of P o PD o AP (from pH 1.0 to pH 8.0). The sensor also exhibited a good reproducibility and stability. And it has been successfully applied in the determination of AA in real samples, including vitamin C tablet and orange juices, with satisfactory results.

In this study, we present a principal methodology for semi quantitative analysis of magnetic phase composition during thermogravimetry under a gradient magnetic field, specifically in cycling mode. This approach is demonstrated using Fe-Si-O xerogels, in which magnetic nanophases such as ε-, γ-, and α-Fe₂O₃ can coexist and transform into each other. We introduce a novel, time-efficient quasi in situ approach to identify and optimize heat treatment conditions for synthesizing ε-Fe₂O₃ as a single phase, a material with significant industrial demand. Our results provide a valuable framework for advancing the controlled synthesis of magnetic compounds.

MY zeolites with mesopores were prepared by hydrothermal method using functionalized SiO 2 (F-SiO 2 ) as a silica source, and hydrophobic bifunctional Ru/MY- O catalysts were obtained by deposition precipitation method and silylation treatment. This work aims at obtaining polycyclic alkane (PCA) based high-density hydrocarbon fuels (HDHFs). We focused on the catalytic hydroconversion (CHC) of 2-phenoxy-1-phenylethanol (PP-ol) and oxydibenzene (ODB), two typical lignin-related model compounds (LRMCs), over Ru/MY- O . The effects of different reaction conditions and catalysts on the product distribution in PP-ol and ODB were investigated. The partial hydrogenation of ODB was found to be a necessary step before achieving C-O ether bond cleavage and C-C bond coupling. The balance of metal/acidic sites is critical for maximizing PCA yields. Changes in the metal/acid ratio had a greater effect on PCA yield in PP-ol than in ODB. Poor stability of cycloalkyl cations and partial hydrogenation of ODB hinder the generation of C-C coupling products. The incorporation of mesopores and hydrophobic treatment were found to weaken the negative effects of C-C bond coupling products and water on the catalyst. The conversion of Ru 3 /MY- O was improved by nearly 10% compared to Ru 3 /Y in the fifth cycle reaction. This work provided a theoretical basis for the generation of HDHFs from lignin.

Two new Ru(II) complexes containing O, O-chelated ligands, Ru(dip)2(SA) (Ru-1) and Ru(dmp)2(SA) (Ru-2) (dip = 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline; dmp = 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline; SA = salicylate) were synthesized to evaluate their cytotoxicity in vitro. These complexes were found to exhibit moderate antitumor activity to different types of human cancers, including A549 (human lung carcinoma), MCF-7 (breast cancer), HeLa (human cervical cancer), and HepG2 (human hepatocellular carcinoma) cell lines, but displayed low toxicity to human normal cell lines BEAS-2B (immortalized human bronchial epithelial cells) when compared with that of cisplatin. Further studies revealed that these complexes could induce apoptosis in A549 cells, including activating caspase family proteins and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), reducing Bcl-2/Bax and Bcl-xl/Bad ratio, enhancing cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, triggering DNA damage, decreasing mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), and leading cytochrome c release from mitochondria. Notably, complex Ru-1 showed low toxicity to developing zebrafish embryos. The obtained results suggest that these new synthetic complexes have the potential to be developed as low-toxicity agents for lung cancer treatment.

Converting carbon dioxide and water into high-value chemicals using renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power is an effective strategy to simultaneously address the depletion of fossil energy and promote low-carbon emissions and alleviate the greenhouse effect. The electrocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide (CO 2 RR) involves a multi-proton coupled electron transfer process, including multiple steps such as CO 2 adsorption, activation and hydrogenation. Although significant progress has been made in the electrocatalytic conversion of CO 2 RR to formate, achieving formate production that combines sustained high activity, high selectivity and high stability still faces severe challenges. This study developed a high-performance electrocatalyst, Bi 2 O 3 -In 2 O 3 @CuO, which was obtained by in-situ growth of core-shell nanowire structures on Cu foams. This structure takes Cu nanowires (NWs) as the core, and the outer layer was bismuth-indium metal oxide shell. The obtained catalyst exhibited excellent performance in CO 2 RR, with a current density reaching 28.4 mA cm -2 and a Faraday efficiency of formate as high as 88.7%.

The effective degradation of persistent and potentially toxic glyphosate in water remains a challenge. Herein, we report an engineering strategy of chloride-modulated synthesis to fabricate illite-modified CuFe₂O₄ composite (CuFe₂O₄/Illite) as robust heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysts. The optimized catalyst exhibited outstanding glyphosate removal efficiency (98.6% in 60 min), wide pH adaptability (pH 3–11), and excellent stability (87.85% efficiency after four cycles). Chloride ions were found to slightly promote degradation, whereas common anions like HCO₃ - , NO₃ - , and SO₄² - showed mild inhibition. Quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis identified •OH and O₂• - as the primary reactive oxygen species, with a minor contribution from ¹O₂ contribution. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results revealed that the facilitated Cu²⁺/Cu⁺ and Fe³ ⁺/Fe²⁺ redox cycles served as an efficient electron-transfer highway, dramatically enhancing the heterolytic cleavage of H 2 O 2 and the sustained generation of reactive species. Based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis, a degradation pathway involving C-P bond cleavage and side-chain oxidation was proposed, leading to the mineralization of toxic intermediate Aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA) into CO₂, NH₄⁺, and PO₄³ - . This work provides a promising catalyst and elucidates the underlying mechanism for glyphosate wastewater remediation.

This study develops a conductive material that remains stable in air at extremely high temperatures. Traditional conductive materials, such as carbon- or metal-based systems, often degrade or oxidize near 1000 °C, which limits their use in harsh environments. To solve this problem, we designed a composite material made of heat-resistant aluminum oxide fibers and a gallium–indium liquid metal. A needle-based method was used to distribute the liquid metal evenly through the fiber network, creating continuous conductive pathways. The material was then tested under high temperatures in air to evaluate its electrical stability and mechanical response. The results show that it maintained stable electrical performance at 1000 °C in air for three hours, with very small resistance changes. After repeated heating and cooling between room temperature and 1000 °C, the resistance remained highly stable. High-temperature treatment also reduced the material’s sensitivity to bending and pressure. Structural analysis indicates that a stable oxide layer formed during heating, while the fiber framework preserved the overall structure. These findings provide a simple and effective strategy for designing flexible conductive materials for high-temperature and harsh-environment applications.
