A flexible self-supported Fe/Mn-CNF anode derived from MOFs was constructed. • Fe/Mn-CNFs-800 achieve superior electrocatalytic efficiency for TC degradation. • Fe/Mn-CNFs-800 exhibit strong flexibility, stability, and recyclability. • Graphitized Fe/Mn‑carbon interface enhances electron transfer and ROS generation. Electrocatalytic degradation of antibiotics remains limited by active site instability, poor electron transfer, and high energy consumption. Herein, we report a flexible, self-supported Fe/Mn‑carbon composite nanofibrous membrane (Fe/Mn-CNF) via electrospinning, two-step MOF growth, and controlled carbonization. By integrating a continuous conductive nanofiber network with a graphitized Fe/Mn heterointerface, this design enables uniform dispersion of bimetallic redox centers and enhanced interfacial electronic coupling. As a result, the Fe/Mn-CNF-800 electrode achieved 97.23% TC removal within 80 min (k = 0.046 min −1 ) and ultralow energy consumption (0.11 kWh·m −3 ), while maintaining over 88% efficiency after eight cycles. Radical quenching and electron paramagnetic resonance analysis revealed that 1 O 2 as the dominant reactive oxygen species (ROS), synergistically assisted •OH, O 2 • − , and ClO•. Density functional theory calculations further confirmed strong electronic coupling and substantial charge redistribution at the Fe/Mn‑carbon interface, enhancing both electronic conductivity and catalytic reactivity. High-performance liquid chromatography-mass analysis identified multistep TC degradation pathways, while toxicity assessment confirmed reduced toxicity after treatment. This work demonstrates a self-supported electrode with strong applicability to real water matrices, providing an efficient and low energy pathway for treating recalcitrant antibiotic pollutants. Mn-doped Zn-based metal halides have attracted increasing attention for applications in white light-emitting diodes and X-ray detection, due to their structural stability and excellent luminescence performance. In this work, two positional isomers, 3-aminopiperidine (3AP) and 4-aminopiperidine (4AP), were selected as A-site organic cations to synthesize four zero-dimensional Zn-based halides, (3AP)Zn X 4 and (4AP)Zn X 4 ·H 2 O ( X = Cl/Br). By incorporating Mn 2 + as luminescent centers, a series of highly efficient phosphors with narrow-band green emission were obtained. Spectroscopic comparisons show that the 4AP-based compounds exhibit better luminescence performance than those based on 3AP. According to Hirshfeld surface analysis, 4AP series features stronger hydrogen-bonding interactions, which enhance the structural rigidity of the crystal lattice and lead to higher photoluminescence efficiency and narrower full width at half maximum. Notably, three of the Mn-doped Zn-based compounds display pronounced X-ray radioluminescence, indicating they could be promising for X-ray detection and imaging applications.

A series of promoter-doped Raney copper catalysts were prepared via a dealloying method, and their catalytic performance was evaluated in the reverse water–gas shift (RWGS) reaction. It was found that significantly improved CO 2 conversion and CO selectivity were achieved upon Mn doping over the catalyst. Mn existed in the form of a highly dispersed MnO phase, effectively regulating the electronic state and geometry of the active Cu component, thereby promoting the dissociation and adsorption of H 2 and the activation of CO 2 . Under optimized reaction conditions of a gas space velocity of 3000 mL·g cat −1 ·h −1 , a temperature of 600°C, and a Mn doping content of 5 wt%, the catalyst demonstrated a CO 2 conversion of 37.8% and a CO selectivity of 99.9%. Furthermore, after reaction at 600°C for 200 h, the catalyst retained high catalytic activity and structural stability, demonstrating promising prospects for practical application. This study provides crucial theoretical support and experimental evidence for designing highly efficient and stable Cu-based catalysts for the RWGS reaction. Graphical Mn-doped Raney copper catalysts were prepared by dealloying. The Mn promoter was uniformly and highly dispersed in the catalyst in the form of MnO, which enhanced the CO 2 adsorption capacity and H 2 dissociation capacity, thereby improving the catalytic performance of the RWGS reaction.

The growing stream of end-of-life lithium-ion batteries from electronic and mobility products has created a pressing need to manage solid residues generated during battery-recycling operations. In ammonia-based leaching flowsheets used for selective critical metal recovery, manganese-rich solid residues (e.g., MnCO 3 or ammonium manganese sulfite/sulfate) are intentionally formed to avoid complex purification. Yet they are often retained as low-value waste due to impurities from unreacted cores. Here, we demonstrate a waste-to-resource pathway that bypasses solution phase recovery by upcycling manganese-rich residues directly into a γ-MnOOH alkaline oxygen evolution catalyst. The residue with MnCO 3 as the main precursor delivers the best performance, with an overpotential of 457.65 mV at 100 mA cm −2 and a Tafel slope of 60.37 mV dec −1 , demonstrating a favorable comparison with commercial noble metal and other benchmarks using commercial transition metal salts as raw materials. Structure-activity analysis attributes the performance to the preferential expression of the high-index facet. This direct solid-state route avoids reagent-grade manganese precursors, eliminates gypsum-forming steps, and cuts life cycle economic and energy demand. The work illustrates a practical waste-to-resource strategy that strengthens manganese security and advances circular economy goals in clean energy technologies.

Methods based on photo-heat conversion materials have been developed for the immunoassays, but most involve low sensitivity or complex procedures and are unsuitable for routine use. Herein, a portable photothermal immunoassay was designed for point-of-care (POC) testing of disease-related biomarker (carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)) in biological fluids on a digital near-infrared (NIR) thermometer with smartphone readout. Initially, the photothermal materials with manganese (Mn) and iron (Fe) bimetallic oxide (MnFe 2 O 4 ) were synthesized via a typical hydrothermal method, and then functionalized with polyclonal anti-human CEA detection antibody (pAb 2 ). In the presence of target CEA, a sandwich-type immunoreaction was implemented on monoclonal rabbit anti-human CEA capture antibody-coated microplate with MnFe 2 O 4 -pAb 2 . Under an 808-nm laser irradiation, the labeled MnFe 2 O 4 on the detection antibody converted the light into heat, thereby causing the increasing temperature of the detection solution in the microplate. The variation in the temperature was collected on a portable NIR thermometer with smartphone readout. Under optimal conditions, the MnFe 2 O 4 -based immunoassay exhibited good photothermal responses for the detection of target CEA with a dynamic linear range of 0.01–150 ng mL −1 at a low detection limit of 0.56 pg mL −1 . Good reproducibility, intermediate precision, and high specificity were acquired. No significant differences at the 0.05 significance level were encountered for the analysis of human serum samples between the developed photothermal immunoassay and the commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the determination of CEA. Importantly, this immunoassay offers promise for simple and cost-effective analysis of biological samples in diagnostics. Graphical

Fine-grained W-6Ni-4Mn alloys were fabricated by spark plasma sintering (SPS) using mechanical milling W, Ni and Mn composite powders. The relative density of W-6Ni-4Mn alloy increases from 71.56% to 99.60% when it is sintered at a low temperature range of 1000–1200 °C for 3 min. The spark plasma sintering process of the alloy can be divided into three stages, which clarify the densification process of powder compacts. As the sintering temperature increases, the average W grain size increases but remains at less than 7 µm and the distribution of the binding phase is uniform. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) observation reveals that the W-6Ni-4Mn alloy consists of the tungsten phase and the γ-(Ni, Mn, W) binding phase. As the sintering temperature increases, the Rockwell hardness and bending strength of alloys initially increases and then decreases. The optimum comprehensive hardness and bending strength of the alloy are obtained at 1150 °C. The main fracture mode of the alloys is W/W interface fracture.

SrMoO 4 and Mn-doped SrMoO 4 nanoparticles have been synthesized by high temperature thermal decomposition of metal–organic salt in organic solvent with a high boiling point. Then they were reduced in H 2 /N 2 mixture atmospheres at different reducing temperatures T R . Samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–visible light spectrum (UV), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The XRD and XPS results showed that SrMoO 3 phase appears when the annealing temperature was 700 °C (SMO700). The light absorption edge shifted to the visible range and enhanced the visible light photocatalytic activity. The methyl blue (MB) solution was degraded, and the degradation efficiency was 80.30% in 120 min for SMO700 sample. For the 2%Mn doping SrMoO 4 sample, the efficiency of degradation reached 97.53% when the annealing temperature was 700 °C(2Mn-SMO700). The results showed that a certain amount of SrMoO 3 is helpful to improve the photocatalytic performance of SrMoO 4 . In addition, the photocatalytic performance of SrMoO 4 was also related to Mn-doped amount, annealing temperature and annealing time in H 2 /N 2 mixture atmospheres. The related mechanism was discussed.

O3 phase layered oxides are highly attractive cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries because of their high capacity and decent initial Coulombic efficiency. However, their rate capability and long cycling life are unsatisfactory due to the narrow Na + transfer channel and irreversible phase transitions of O3 phase during sodiation/desodiation process. Constructing O3/P2 multiphase structures has been proven to be an effective strategy to overcome these challenges. In this study, we synthesized bi-phasic structured O3/P2 Na(Ni 2/9 Fe 1/3 Cu 1/9 Mn 1/3 ) 1- x Mn x O 2 ( x = 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05) materials through Mn doping during sodiation process. Benefiting from surface P2 phase layer with the enhanced Na + transfer dynamics and high structural stability , the Na(Ni 2/9 Fe 1/3 Cu 1/9 Mn 1/3 ) 0.98 Mn 0.02 O 2 (NFCM-M2) cathode delivers a reversible capacity of 139.1 mA h g −1 at 0.1 C, and retains 71.4 % of its original capacity after 300 cycles at 1 C. Our work provides useful guidance for designing multiphase cathodes and offers new insights into the structure-performance correlation for sodium-ion cathode materials.

We report the fabricating of BiFeO 3 (BFO) and Mn-doped BFO is prepared by the commonly used sol–gel method and obtained various excellent properties. X-ray diffraction patterns present that BFO is a pure phase and no impurities are detected and demonstrated that Mn is successfully doped into the BFO crystal structure. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis suggested that the extent of Mn doping in the samples and check the enhancement of Fe 3+ ions concentration in the nanoparticles. The results of scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscope indicated that the morphology and size of the nanoparticles with different Mn doping concentrations. The BFO nanoparticles exhibit weak ferromagnetic nature at general ambient temperature. However, the ratio of Mn ions to Fe ions changes to some extent, and the ferromagnetic behavior also changes, which is mainly due to the collapse of spin cycloid structure and the enhancement of super-exchange interaction between Fe–O–Fe, it can be inferred that Mn-doping has significant importance in increasing the ferromagnetic properties of BFO-based nanoparticles. The photocatalytic performance of Mn-doped BFO nanoparticles has also been further studied, which confirms the potential application value of Mn-doped BiFeO 3 in the field of photocatalysis.

In this study, ZnS capped Cu–In–S (ZCIS) quantum dots doped with Mn ions are synthesized by a thermal injection method, with luminescence covering almost the entire visible area. The large Stokes shift effectively inhibits the self-absorption effect under luminescence, and the quantum yield of ZCIS quantum dots increased from 38% to 50% after ZnS capping and further to 69% after doping with Mn. First, red-, yellow-, and blue-emitting quantum dots were synthesized and then, polychromatic ensembles were obtained by mixing the trichromatic quantum dots in a different ratio. Using the home-built inkjet printer, multilayered and multicolor mixed patterns were obtained for information pattern storage and multilayer pattern recognition and reading.

All inorganic CsPbX3 (X = Cl, Br, I) perovskite quantum dots have attracted extreme attention due to their excellent optical performance. Unfortunately, heavy usage of the toxic Pb element is still a serious problem that needs to be solved. In the present work, Mn-doped CsPbCl3 nanocrystals are successfully prepared via a facile solvothermal reaction for the first time. A high Cs-to-Pb feeding ratio is necessary to achieve pure cubic perovskite phase and the incorporation of Mn dopants into the CsPbCl3 host is highly related to the Mn-to-Pb feeding ratio. Importantly, it is demonstrated that Mn-doped CsPbCl3 NCs synthesized by the solvothermal method have better stability than those prepared by traditional hot injection. To finely adjust the bandgap of CsPbCl3 NCs, Cl-to-Br anion exchange is used to fabricate Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br)3 NCs with tunable multi-color luminescence. Finally, the as-prepared Mn-doped CsPb(Cl/Br)3 products are demonstrated to be applicable as color converters for constructing white light-emitting diodes and optical thermometric medium for accurate temperature sensing.

The development of highly efficient catalysts is important for the photothermal catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Herein, MIL-100(Fe) was used as the sacrificial template to prepare MnFeOxcatalysts with different Mn contents through the impregnation–calcination method, and their performance in photothermal catalytic oxidation of toluene was investigated. The results show that the content of Mn significantly affects the crystal phase structure, pore properties, surface chemical state, and optical response of the catalyst. Among them, 30%MnFeOxexhibits the best photothermal catalytic activity, with T50and T90being 211 and 237 °C, respectively, which are significantly lower than those of FeOx(232 and 260 °C). Characterization results suggested that the introduction of Mn caused the bandgap of FeOxto decrease from 1.96 to 1.67 eV. Meanwhile, the surface Fe2+, adsorbed oxygen (Oads) species, and oxygen vacancies were increased, enhancing visible light absorption and gaseous oxygen species adsorption and activation, which promoted the photothermal catalytic oxidation of toluene. Additionally, the 30%MnFeOxcatalyst presented good thermal stability and water resistance. Furthermore, during the reaction process, the in situ activation of the catalyst’s surface induced the increase in surface Fe2+, Mn3+,and Oadsspecies, which enhances the photothermal catalytic activity of the catalyst. Importantly, the in situ DRIFTS results further indicate that toluene is mainly oxidized along the path of toluene → benzyl alcohol → benzoate → maleic anhydride → CO2and H2O. This work provides a theoretical basis for the construction of low-cost, non-precious-metal Mn–Fe-based photothermal catalysts.
