Co 0.5 /Cu 0.5 -Ti 3 C 2 Tₓ achieved excellent PMS activation and APAP removal. • A synergistic radical/non-radical mechanism governed the efficient degradation process. • Co/Cu diatomic synergy enhanced PMS adsorption, electron transfer, and mutual redox cycling. • APAP degradation pathways were elucidated, confirming effective detoxification. A central challenge in heterogeneous peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation is achieving catalysts with highly active interfacial sites to enable both efficient pollutant degradation and environmentally safe water treatment. Herein, cooperative Co/Cu dual-atom sites were anchored on Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene (Co/Cu-Ti 3 C 2 T x ). The optimized Co 0.5 /Cu 0.5 -Ti 3 C 2 T x catalyst achieved 96.9% removal of the emerging contaminant acetaminophen (APAP) within 60 min via PMS activation, markedly outperforming its single-atom analogues by 21.0–58.6%. Response surface methodology (RSM) analysis indicated that the system operated efficiently under near-neutral pH and mild conditions. Quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis suggested that APAP degradation proceeded via a coupled mechanism involving contributions from both reactive oxygen species (predominantly •OH, •O 2 − , and 1 O 2 ) and high-valent metal-oxo species (HVMOS). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that the synergistic interaction between Co/Cu sites enhanced PMS adsorption, improved electron transfer efficiency, and accelerated the redox cycles between Co 0 /Co 2+ and Cu + /Cu 2+ , thereby cooperatively promoting the activation of PMS. Based on the identification of intermediates, the degradation pathway of APAP was proposed to involve hydroxylation of the benzene ring, ring-opening, deacetylation, and ultimately oxidative degradation. The biotoxicity of the treated effluent decreased, confirming the effectiveness and environmental safety of the process. These findings advance the mechanistic understanding of bimetallic PMS activation and present a viable approach for the remediation of water containing refractory emerging contaminants. Balancing dielectric attenuation and impedance matching is essential for developing efficient MXene-based EMW absorbers because an excessively developed conductive network may deteriorate impedance matching and hinder electromagnetic wave penetration. Herein, Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene/Y 2 O 3 /C composites were prepared through in situ solvothermal assembly followed by pyrolysis. By increasing the Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene feed fraction, the dielectric response and impedance-matching behavior of the composites were systematically regulated. Structural analyses confirmed the formation of crystalline Y 2 O 3 , carbonaceous domains, and MXene-based heterostructures with mesoporous features. The composites exhibited composition-dependent and non-monotonic absorption behavior. MY-3(Nominal MXene-to-precursor feed ratios of 2:5) composite delivered the strongest absorption intensity with a minimum RL of −49.4 dB, while MY-4(Nominal MXene-to-precursor feed ratios of 1:2) composite achieved the broadest EAB of 7.2 GHz. The enhanced absorption performance is attributed to the regulated conductive network, interfacial polarization at MXene/Y 2 O 3 /C heterointerfaces, dipole polarization from polar bonds and oxygen-containing groups, and improved impedance matching. Radar cross-section simulations further verified the scattering suppression capability of the optimized coatings. This work demonstrates that Y 2 O 3 /C-assisted dielectric regulation is an effective strategy for improving broadband absorption in MXene-based dielectric absorbing materials.

Efficient and selective extraction of uranium (U(VI)) from complex seawater remains a critical challenge. This study proposes a dual-drive interfacial engineering strategy integrating eco-friendly plasma modification with covalent grafting to fabricate an advanced amidoxime modified MXene-based adsorbent. Hydrogen/argon plasma treatment significantly enhanced the wettability and surface hydroxyl reactivity of Ti 3 C 2 T x (TC) substrate. Subsequently, amidoxime (AO) groups were covalently anchored via a diazonium salt reaction followed by hydrothermal treatment, successfully constructing the AO/TC-H composite. The resultant material exhibited a remarkable maximum U(VI) adsorption capacity (760.18 mg·g −1 ), maintaining high efficiency across a broad pH range. Furthermore, AO/TC-H demonstrated robust cyclic stability, retaining over 87% of its initial adsorption capacity after five consecutive adsorption-desorption cycles. Notably, even in the presence of high-concentration competing vanadium, AO/TC-H preserved 68.9% of its U(VI) adsorption capacity, underscoring its exceptional selectivity. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations further elucidated the synergistic coordination mechanisms of hydroxyl and amidoxime groups with uranyl ions at the microscopic level. This work not only establishes a versatile, eco-friendly paradigm for the precise surface functionalization of 2D materials, but also provides a promising candidate for the practical deployment of seawater uranium extraction.

Light-assisted antibacterial therapy is a promising alternative to antibiotic therapy due to the high antibacterial efficacy without bacterial resistance. Recent research has mainly focused on the use of near-infrared light irradiation to kill bacteria by taking advantage of the synergistic effects rendered by hyperthermia and radical oxygen species. However, photocatalytic antibacterial therapy excited by visible light is more convenient and practical, especially for wounds. Herein, a visible light responsive organic-inorganic hybrid of ZnTCPP/Ti 3 C 2 T X is designed and fabricated to treat bacterial infection with antibacterial efficiency of 99.86% and 99.92% within 10 min against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli , respectively. The porphyrin-metal complex, ZnTCPP, is assembled on the surface of Ti 3 C 2 T X MXene to capture bacteria electrostatically and the Schottky junction formed between Ti 3 C 2 T X and ZnTCPP promotes visible light utilization, accelerates charge separation, and enhances the mobility of photogenerated charges, and finally increases the photocatalytic activity. As a result of the excellent bacteria capturing ability and photocatalytic antibacterial effects, ZnTCPP/Ti 3 C 2 T X exposed to visible light has excellent antibacterial properties in vitro and in vivo. Therefore, organic-inorganic materials that have been demonstrated to possess good biocompatibility and enhance wound healing have large potential in bio-photocatalysis, antibacterial therapy, as well as antibiotics-free treatment of wounds.

Nowadays, the evolution of two-dimensional materials like transition metal carbides (MXene) prepares a novel path to surpass the “trade-off” between the membrane permeation and rejection rates. Based on water swelling and oxidation vulnerability, MXene membranes showed vivid defects such as inadequate stability, detrimental adsorption, and haphazardly stacked nanosheets. Here, we prepared Ti 3 C 2 Tx MXene@metal–organic frameworks nanosheets from aminated metal-organic framework-101 (NH 2 -MIL-101(Al)) via the in-situ growth method and incorporated them into the thin-film polymer to acquire desirable MXene nanosheets with tailor-made structures. The earned modified thin-film nanocomposite membrane showed high salt rejection for Na 2 SO 4 (98.6 ± 0.5%), MgSO 4 (96.9 ± 0.7%), MgCl 2 (84.5 ± 0.8%), and NaCl (82.5 ± 0.8%), and also showed an improved permeation rate by three times (17.1 ± 0.2 L m −2 . h −1 . bar −1 ). Concurrently, the rejection rate of five different types of heavy metal ions (Ni 2+ , Cd 2+ , Mn 2+ , Cu 2+ , and Zn 2+ ) was tested and denoted more than a 95.2 ± 0.5% rejection rate for all of them, notably high for Mn 2+ (97.6 ± 0.4%). After modification, the flux recovery rate was as high as 95.3 ± 0.4%, denoting more than 30% improvement; besides, anti-compactness features enhanced by nearly 34 ± 0.7%. The long-term water permeation kept 91.5 ± 0.9% of its initial rate indicating almost 40 ± 0.8% enhancement. In addition, the rejection performance of Na 2 SO 4 for the optimized membrane was more than 97% even after two weeks.

Nitrogen dioxide is one origin of air pollution from fossil fuels with the potential to cause great harm to human health in low concentrations. Therefore, low-cost, low-power-consumption sensors for low-concentration NO2detection are essential. Herein, heterojunction by SnO2quantum wires, a traditional metal oxide NO2sensing material, and Ti3C2TxMXene, a novel type of 2D layered material, was synthesized using a simple solvothermal method for enhancing gas-sensing performance and reducing operating temperature. The operating temperature was reduced to 80 °C, with a best performance of 27.8 and a fast response and recovery time (11 s and 23 s, respectively). The SnO2and Ti3C2TxMXene composite exhibits high speed and low detection limit due to the construction of the heterojunction with high conductive Ti3C2TxMXene. The selectivity and stability of gas sensors are carried out. This could enable the realization of fast response, high-sensitivity, and selective NO2sensing under low operating temperatures.Keywords:Ti3C2TxMXene;SnO2;gas sensor;NO2;nanocomposite

The dynamic control of terahertz (THz) wave transmission on flexible functional materials is a fundamental building block for wearable electronics and sensors in the THz range. However, achieving high-efficiency THz modulation and low insertion loss is a great challenge while maintaining the excellent flexibility and stretchability of the materials. Herein, we report a Ti3C2Tx MXene/waterborne polyurethane (WPU) membrane prepared by a vacuum-assisted filtration method, which exhibits excellent THz modulation properties across stretching. The hydrophilic Ti3C2Tx MXene and WPU enable the uniform 3D distribution of Ti3C2Tx MXene in the WPU matrix. Particularly, the stretchability with the maximum strain of the membranes can reach 200%, accompanied by dynamic tuning of THz transmittance for more than 90% and an insertion loss as low as −4.87 dB. The giant THz modulation continuously decreases with MXene content per unit area, accompanied by a lower density of the MXene interface and diminished THz absorption during stretching. Such a design opens a pathway for achieving flexible THz modulators with a high modulation depth and low insertion loss, which would be used for THz flexible and wearable devices.

Rational design of transition metal catalysts with robust and durable electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reactions (HER) is extremely important for renewable energy conversion and storage, as well as water splitting. Heteroatom doping has emerged as a feasible strategy for enhancing electrocatalytic activity. Here, cobalt nanoparticles (Co-NPs) were coated with nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes (NCNTs) prepared via an in situ growth on accordion-like Ti 3 C 2 T x -MXene (Co-NCNT/Ti 3 C 2 T x ). Such an intriguing structure showed great features: abundant anchoring sites for NCNT in situ growth, intimate integration of Co-NPs and NCNTs, high-speed electron transfer between 1D NCNTs and 2D Ti 3 C 2 T x -MXenes, and a large number of effective catalytic active sites. This Co-NCNT/Ti 3 C 2 T x hybrid catalyst was demonstrated to possess excellent HER performance with low overpotential ( η 10 , 190 mV), small Tafel slope (78.4 mV dec −1 ), large electrochemically active surface area, and good long-term stability, thus outperforming many reported electrocatalysts . The present strategy provided a facile route for the design of transition metal HER catalysts with NCNT and MXene .

It is a challenge to design Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene-based electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding composites with excellent mechanical properties. Herein, a highly robust, flexible and durable Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene/carbon fiber fabric/thermoplastic polyurethanes (Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene/CFf/TPU) composite was fabricated through simple electrohydrodynamic atomization deposition, layer-by-layer stacking and hot pressing technology. The synergistic strengthening effect of van der Waals forces and covalent bonds can improve the tensile strength of the composite up to170.2 MPa, which is far greater than that of other MXene-based composites previously reported. In addition, the EMI shielding performance of the Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene/CFf/TPU composite also improved with increasing MXene mass fraction, reaching 40.4 dB, which can be attributed to the dielectric loss provided by conductive fillers and the enhanced absorption within the sandwich structure. More interestingly, the composite retained excellent resistance stability, EMI-SE stability and flexibility, even after multiple bending and releasing cycles. This work provides a facile and environmentally-friendly method for preparing composites with excellent EMI shielding properties and mechanical properties, which may provide more possibilities for applications in intelligent wear and electronic wireless communication equipment.

In this work, an electrochemical sensor was developed based on the delaminated titanium carbide nanosheet (d-Ti 3 C 2 T x ) and fullerene (C 60 ) composite modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The composite materials d-Ti 3 C 2 T x /C 60 were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The prepared modified electrode (d-Ti 3 C 2 T x /C 60 /GCE) exhibited commendable electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of baicalein. Under the optimum detection conditions, the detection of baicalin showed a wide linear range of 0.015–4.0 μM with a detection limit of 0.005 μM. In addition, the d-Ti 3 C 2 T x /C 60 /GCE showed good reproducibility, stability and anti-interference. It was also successfully used for the determination of baicalin in the commercially available Shuanghuanglian oral liquid with satisfactory results.

The titanium carbide nanosheets (MXene) hold great potential for fabricating high-performance electronics due to their two-dimensional layered structure, high electrical conductivity, and versatile surface chemistry. However, assembling the small MXene nanosheets into flexible macroscopic films for wearable electronics still remains a challenge. Herein, we report the hierarchical assembling of MXene nanosheets and cellulose nanofibers into high-performance composite films via an electrostatic self-assembly strategy induced by polyethyleneimine. Benefited from the nacre-like microstructure of MXene “bricks” and cellulose nanofibers “mortars” interlocked by polyethyleneimine via hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interaction, composite films possess integrated superior flexibility, high tensile strength, and stable electrical conductivity, which are advantageous for wearable electronic applications. To provide a proof-of-concept design, a symmetric quasi-solid-state supercapacitor with the as-prepared composite film as electrode is fabricated, which exhibits a specific capacitance of 93.9 mF cm −2 at a current density of 0.1 mA cm −2 and almost constant capacitive behavior under different bending states. In addition, the composite film possesses capacities of electrothermal conversion and complete degradation in a hydrogen peroxide solution. These results demonstrate that the electrostatically self-assembled composite films hold great promise in the development of highly flexible, mechanically robust, and environmentally friendly energy storage and conversion devices.

In this study, MXene (Ti 3 C 2 T x ) nanosheets were modified by an amino acid (L-Cysteine) to fabricate functionalized MXene (fMX) hybrid material . Results derived from FTIR, XRD , EDS and XPS confirm that L-Cysteine has succeeded in covalently functionalizing MXene's surface. Later, fMX was introduced into the waterborne epoxy (WEP) coating as fillers, and its anti-corrosion performance was studied through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization tests. After being immersed in 3.5 wt% NaCl solution for 30 days, fMX/WEP still maintains a higher impedance modulus at lowest frequency (1.21 × 10 9 Ω·cm 2 ) and a lower corrosion rate (7.95 × 10 −6 mpy) compared to blank WEP. It is resulted from the well dispersion of fMX nanosheets in WEP matrix as well as the enhanced barrier properties offered by fMX. Our research provides a promising strategy for green modified MXene to improve the corrosion resistance of the coating.
