Fe-MIL-101-NH 2 was prepared by solvothermal method with ferric nitrate and 2-Aminoterephthalic Acid (DBC-NH 2 ), and Fe-MIL-101-NH 2 as precursor was calcined to prepare α-Fe 2 O 3 catalyst. The optimum synthesis condition and the NO conversion efficiency of α-Fe 2 O 3 were systematically investigated, and its crystallinity, micro-morphology and surface acidity were characterized. The results showed that α-Fe 2 O 3 over calcination at 400 °C for 1 h had excellent catalytic activity, SO 2 tolerance, water resistance, and stability. When an initial NO concentration of 500 ppm, the gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of 35000 h −1 , and a reaction temperature of 350 °C, the NO conversion efficiency of α-Fe 2 O 3 remained above 90 %. The crystal structure of the catalyst was α-Fe 2 O 3 which retained the original octahedral morphology of Fe-MIL-101-NH 2 and increased a lot of new pores, leading to more abundant Lewis acid sites for promoting NO conversion efficiency.

In this paper, the open-circuit voltages (VOC) of Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 (CZTSSe) solar cells were improved by soaking the CZTSSe films in Cd/NH3 solutions before the deposition of buffer layers. The effects of Cd/NH3 soaking on the properties of CZTSSe films and solar cells were investigated in depth. We found Cd/NH3 soaking can promote downward band bending of the CZTSSe layer at the surface region. In addition, the Cd/NH3 soaking can eliminate the deep level acceptor in CZTSSe and decrease the density of the defects at the absorber/buffer interface. These effects can significantly reduce the carrier recombination in the depletion region of CZTSSe solar cells. As a result, the VOC of CZTSSe solar cells were increased from ∼460 mV to ∼480 mV, the efficiency of the best CZTSSe solar cell was increased from 10.2% to 11.6% by the Cd/NH3 soaking process.

The accurate and rapid sensing of NH 3 at room temperature is a challenging conundrum for daily life and environment protection. In this work, we have explored an intriguing material, hollow NiO sphere composited with polyaniline (labelled as h-NiO-PANI) for NH 3 gas sensing, fabricated by growing PANI on the hollow NiO sphere derived from solvothermal synthesis and calcination. Ni-Cu glycerate is obtained via solvothermal synthesis, which is a universal way to produce uniform glycerate microspheres. During calcination, the hollow sphere is ingeniously designed by taking advantage of the outward adhesion from CuO to the inner core. Polymerization of aniline on the hollow spheres is beneficial for large specific surface area and gas adsorption. Impressively, the sensor based on h-NiO-PANI exhibits favorable response to NH 3 (ΔR/R 0 =43 % for 10 ppm, 149 s in response and 257 s in recovery), which is greatly better than the counterparts (NiO-PANI and PANI). Moreover, the sensor has also shown superb anti-interference against common volatile organic compounds (VOCs), water and humidity, along with the superior repeatability in 5 cycles and long-term stability in a week, manifesting the sensor a promising candidate in daily application. The enhanced gas sensing performance is attributed to the hollow structure and construction of p-p heterojunctions between NiO and PANI.

Highly-efficient CeO 2 -TiO 2 -based catalyst is an attractive alternative to traditional V 2 O 5 -based catalysts for selective catalytic reduction of NO x by NH 3 (NH 3 -SCR). Herein, we construct an efficient and stable P-doped CeO 2 /TiO 2 ( y CeTi-P x ) catalyst by dispersing CeO 2 on strongly acidic and highly stable mesoporous P-doped TiO 2 (Ti-P x ). The characteristic structure of Ti-P x causes highly dispersed CeO 2 , strong active component-support interaction, and abundant surface active oxygen and acid sites on CeTi-P catalyst. Therefore, y CeTi-P x catalyst exhibits much higher catalytic activity than y CeTi catalyst at temperature of 200–450 °C. The y CeTi-P x catalysts show high activity in the presence of H 2 O and strong resistance to H 2 O + SO 2 at medium-high temperature, implying that they have great industrial application prospects. Different P/Ti ratio and CeO 2 loading content were investigated. Excessive P doping can block the Ce 4+ /Ce 3+ redox couple, and suppress redox sites on y CeTi-P x catalyst. Additionally, increasing CeO 2 content can reduce the NH 3 capacity of y CeTi-P x catalyst. By controlling the P/Ti ratio and CeO 2 loading content, surface acid sites and redox sites on y CeTi-P x catalyst can be balanced to obtain the best catalytic activity. This work demonstrates a feasible method in adjusting acid sites and redox sites on CeTi catalyst, which ultimately contributes to the new design of CeO 2 -TiO 2 -based catalyst.

The electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) has emerged as a promising renewable energy source and a feasible strategy as an alternative to Haber-Bosch ammonia (NH 3 ) synthesis. However, finding an efficient and cost-effective robust catalyst to activate and cleave the extremely strong triple bond in nitrogen (N 2 ) for electrocatalytic NRR is still a challenge. Herein, a FeNi@CNS nanocomposite as an efficient catalyst for N 2 fixation under ambient conditions is designed. This FeNi@CNS nanocomposite was prepared by a simple water bath process and post-calcination. The FeNi@CNS is demonstrated to be a highly efficient NRR catalyst, which exhibits better NRR performance with exceptional Faradaic efficiency of 9.83% and an NH 3 yield of 16.52 μg h −1 cm −2 in 0.1 M Na 2 SO 4 aqueous solution. Besides, high stability and reproducibility with consecutive 6 cycles for two hours are also demonstrated throughout the NRR electrocatalytic process for 12 h. Meanwhile, the FeNi@CNS catalyst encourages N 2 adsorption and activation as well as effectively suppressing competitive HER. Therefore, this earth-abundant FeNi@CNS catalyst with a subtle balance of activity and stability has excellent potential in NRR industrial applications.

Development of high-efficient solvents for NH 3 capture to improve the quality of atmosphere and ecological environment is a hot research topic. Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) as NH 3 absorbents can overcome some problems troubling the traditional NH 3 capture process. In this work, NH 4 SCN was paired with imidazole (Im) DESs to form low viscous DESs with dual active sites for highly efficient NH 3 absorption. The effects of absorption temperature, gas flow rate, water content, molar ratio on NH 3 absorption performance as well as physical properties of NH 4 SCN/Im DESs were systematically investigated. The results show that NH 4 SCN/Im DESs can rapidly capture NH 3 with good recycling performance, while the gas flow rate only shortens the absorption time. The NH 3 absorption capacity of NH 4 SCN/Im DESs decreased with increasing temperature and NH 4 SCN/Im molar ratio. The absorption capacity of NH 4 SCN/Im (1:2) DES reaches 9.65 mol NH 3 /kg DESs for atmospheric NH 3 . Based on 1 H NMR and IR spectroscopy analysis, the strong hydrogen bond between protic ammonium cation and NH 3 plays the major essence of efficient NH 3 capture for NH 4 SCN/Im DESs.

Antimony-based metal halide hybrids have attracted enormous attention due to the stereoactive 5s2 electron pair that drives intense triplet broadband emission. However, energy/charge transfer has been rarely achieved for Sb3+-doped materials. Herein, Sb3+ ions are homogeneously doped into 2D [NH3(CH2)4NH3]CdBr4 perovskite (Cd-PVK) using a wet-chemical method. Compared to the weak singlet exciton emission of Cd-PVK at 380 nm, 0.01% Sb3+-doped Cd-PVK exhibits intense triplet emission located at 640 nm with a near-unity quantum yield. Further increasing the doping concentration of Sb3+ completely quenches singlet exciton emission of Cd-PVK, concurrently with enhanced Sb3+ triplet emission. Delayed luminescence and femtosecond-transient absorption studies suggest that Sb3+ emission originates from exciton transfer (ET) from Cd-PVK host to Sb3+ dopant, while such ET cannot occur with Pb2+-doped Cd-PVK because of the mismatch of energy levels. In addition, density function theory calculations indicate that the introduced Sb3+ likely replace the Cd2+ ions along with the deprotonation of butanediammonium for charge balance, instead of generating Cd2+ vacancies. This work provides a deeper understanding of the ET of Sb3+-doped Cd-PVK and suggests an effective strategy to achieve efficient triplet Sb3+ emission beyond 0D Cl-based hybrids.

The CeO 2 -TiO 2 (CeTi) and CeO 2 /WO 3 -TiO 2 (CeWTi) catalysts were prepared by sol-gel method. The as-prepared catalysts were hydrothermally treated at 760 °C for 48 h in air containing 10 vol% H 2 O to obtain the hydrothermal aged catalysts. The sulfur aged catalysts were treated at 400 °C with 100 ppm SO 2 , 10% water vapor, air balance for 48 h and catalysts. The powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman results indicate that the crystallization of hydrothermal aged catalysts is more serious than sulfur aged catalysts. In addition, tungsten species can stabilize the CeTi catalyst from grain growth. According to the results of in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectra (DRIFTS), temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia (NH 3 -TPD), H 2 temperature-programmed reduction (H 2 -TPR) and ammonia oxidation , the aging process leads to loss of surface area, redox properties, surface acidities and surface ceria concentration, especially for the hydrothermal aging. The NH 3 -NO/NO 2 SCR performances of sulfur aged catalysts are better than that of hydrothermal aged catalysts. Compared with CeTi catalyst, the addition of tungsten inhibits the crystallization of catalyst. So that more acid sites and active sites are retained. This is also the reason why tungsten addition improves the NH 3 -NO/NO 2 SCR performance of CeTi catalyst.

Heavy metal Pb is an inevitable ingredient of coal-fired flue gas and has been proven to be a source of inhibiting effect on the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst. In this paper, two types of Pb-poisoned catalyst, prepared by the incipient wetness impregnation and solid diffusion methods, are studied to unveil the poisoning effects of lead species on the V 2 O 5 -WO 3 /TiO 2 catalyst. The activity test results showed that lead species loaded by the incipient wetness impregnation method exhibited a significant inhibiting effect on the denitrification efficiency of the catalyst although a negligible activity loss was observed on the samples from the solid diffusion method. Characterizations of fresh and Pb-poisoned catalysts from incipient wetness impregnation method were applied using comprehensive techniques such as X-Ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), NH 3 -temperature programmed desorption (NH 3 -TPD), X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and so forth. The analytical results indicated that a phase transformation occurred in tungsten species and the amorphous WO 3 converted into PbWO 4 , causing the accumulation and valence imbalance of active vanadium phase, which further decreased the surface acidity and activity of the V 2 O 5 -WO 3 /TiO 2 catalyst.

2,6-methyl-N-methylpyridinium, as a novel organic template, is employed for the synthesis of RTH aluminosilicate zeolite with a SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of 17.6. The amount of 2,6-methyl-N-methylpyridinium template, the Na2O/SiO2 ratio, the SiO2/Al2O3 ratio, and the H2O/SiO2 ratio in the starting gel significantly influence the crystallization of RTH zeolite. Several analytical methods such as XRD, SEM, N2 sorption, TG-DTA, DRIFT and NMR were employed for the characterisation of the obtained RTH zeolites and to understand the crystallization process with the new template. Very interestingly, the crystallization of RTH zeolite with the new template takes a very short time (12 h at 130 °C and 50 min at 240 °C) compared with conventional RTH zeolite synthesis reported in the literature (72 h at 130 °C). Theoretical calculations show that this novel organic template has lower interaction energies for zeolite cage space filling than those of the organic templates previously reported in the literature, which lead to stronger structural directing. Kinetic results show that the activation energy of this novel organic template is much lower than that of the traditional one. Catalytic tests show that copper exchanged RTH zeolite (Cu-RTH) exhibits good catalytic properties in the NH3-SCR reaction and the H-RTH zeolite catalyst has excellent selectivities for ethylene and propylene in MTO reactions.

In present study, the poisoning mechanism of Cl on V/TiO 2 catalyst for SCR removal of NOx using NH 3 as the reductant was explored by in situ DRIFT technique. The experimental results revealed that the existence of Cl did not change the SCR reaction mechanism over V/TiO 2 catalyst, which was mainly under the control of both E-R and L-H mechanisms. The deactivation of V/TiO 2 catalyst by Cl was mainly resulted from the inhibited adsorption of NH 3 and NOx species, accompanied by the decrease of the reactivity of adsorbed NH 3 species.

Electrochemical reduction has been regarded as a sustainable strategy to tackle energy-intensive operations by the Haber–Bosch process achieving catalytic conversion of N2 to NH3 under mild conditions. However, the challenge of N2 electroconversion emphasizes the requirement of efficient electrocatalysts. In this paper, we report the development of porous bromide-derived Ag film (BD-Ag/AF) as an efficient electrocatalyst for N2 reduction reaction. During electrochemical test, Br– anions are released and adsorbed onto the surfaces of the electrode, suppressing hydrogen evolution reaction. Such BD-Ag/AF shows a high Faradaic efficiency of 7.36% at −0.6 V vs reversible hydrogen electrode in 0.1 M Na2SO4, which is higher than that (0.38%) of porous Ag film without Br– anions. Moreover, it exhibits excellent long-term electrochemical durability.
