A sample of Y 2.85 Ca 0.15 Sn 0.08 Ti 0.05 Mn 0.07 Fe 4.8 O 12 doped with four different ions was prepared using the solid method and a subsequent procedure. X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to analyze the sample’s structural features, elemental distribution, and surface morphology. The study used the B-H magnetic characteristic analyzer and superconducting quantum interferometer magnetic performance measurement system to analyze the magnetic properties of Y 2.85 Ca 0.15 Sn 0.08 Ti 0.05 Mn 0.07 Fe 4.8 O 12 . The correlation becomes more surprising as the frequency increases, indicating a decrease in permeability when the magnetic field H reaches 200 A/m. Ion substitution leads to changes in magnetic crystal anisotropy, affecting permeability as the external magnetic field strength increases. We analyze the correlation between saturation magnetization and temperature in the 520–540 K range and explain the variation of saturation magnetization with temperature. The study shows that saturation magnetization decreases as temperature increases. This result suggests that saturation magnetization decreases as temperature increases. The increased super-exchange effect due to Ti and Mn occupying the (d) sites is much stronger than the reduced effect caused by Sn occupying the (a) sites. Therefore, the saturation magnetization of the Y 2.85 Ca 0.15 Sn 0.08 Ti 0.05 Mn 0.07 Fe 4.8 O 12 sample is higher than that of the undoped sample. The Curie temperature (Tc) of the Y 2.85 Ca 0.15 Sn 0.08 Ti 0.05 Mn 0.07 Fe 4.8 O 12 sample is lower than that of the undoped sample.

A novel SnO2-Sb nanorods anode with Ti sheet as substrate (Ti/SnO2-Sb-NRs) was prepared through hydrothermal process. The Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the contact angle meter were used to characterize the physicochemical properties of the anodes. Additionally, the electrochemical properties and the stability were further studied by the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry (CA) measurements and accelerated life test, respectively. These results indicated that Ti/SnO2-Sb-NRs anode possessed SnO2-Sb-NRs which were about 70 nm in width, as well as a better wettability, a lower charge transfer resistance, a larger current at constant potential and a longer lifetime than the conventional Ti/SnO2-Sb anode prepared by pulse electro-deposition. And the existence of direct oxidation on Ti/SnO2-Sb-NRs anode was confirmed. Electrochemical degradation of Acid Red 73 (AR 73) was investigated to study the electro-catalytic oxidation performance of the anodes. And the results showed that SnO2-Sb-NRs remarkably improved the degradation of AR 73, the chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency and the adsorption capacity on Ti/SnO2-Sb-NRs anode, which was probably due to the synergetic effects of SnO2-Sb-NRs.

Electrocatalytic nitric oxide reduction (NORR) enables the efficient abatement of NO while simultaneously synthesizing valuable ammonia (NH 3 ). However, the strong polarity of NO hinders its effective activation on conventional NORR catalysts because of their single-site interaction mode, wherein either the nitrogen (N) or oxygen (O) atom of NO binds to the catalyst through a unidirectional electron transfer. In this study, we construct dual-atom Cu 1 −Ti pairs on the titanium oxide (TiO x ) substrate by using the complementary affinities of Ti for nitrogen and Cu for oxygen, which simultaneously activates both ends of the N=O bond. The designed Cu 1 −Ti pairs achieve competitive NORR performance with an NH 3 yield of 189.9 μmol h −1 cm −2 and a Faradaic efficiency of 93.7%. In situ techniques and theoretical calculations demonstrate that this dual-atom configuration shifts the mechanism from an end-on adsorption pathway observed on homonuclear pairs to a fully activating side-on mode. By highlighting the importance of adapted active site design in the electrocatalytic activation of polar molecules, this study facilitates the development of next-generation catalysts for complex transformations.

Flexible piezoelectric materials that combine high performance and outstanding flexibility are imperative for advancing next-generation wearable electronics, self-powered sensors, and energy harvesters. The creation of useful piezoelectricity in piezoelectrics requires a poling process via the temporary application of a strong electric field, which introduces risks including electrical breakdown and thermal depolarization. Here, a self-aligned polarization state is realized in compositional graded Ti-doped BiFeO 3 films via the formation of defect dipoles and the spatial modulation of strain distributions. The down-graded film, among those with different configurations, manifests a notable upward initial polarization ( P 0 = −15.7 μC cm −2 ) and a substantial internal bias field ( E bias = 167.2 kV cm −1 ). The prototype piezoelectric harvester based on the flexible down-graded film can deliver a maximum output power of 2.26 μW at a load resistance of 3.52 MΩ, a high sensitivity of 5.92 V N −1 without the need for external poling treatment, and robust mechanical durability of 8000 cycles. These advances in self-poling enable the derived films to offer significant freedom to design flexible piezoelectric devices that are well suited for microscale energy harvesters and sensors.

Titanium (Ti) powder production via molten salt electrolysis is an environmentally sustainable alternative to the Kroll process, yet achieving precise control over oxygen content remains a significant challenge. This study established a NaCl-KCl-MgCl 2 -TiCl x electrolysis system using titanium sponge as the raw material; moreover, we innovatively introduced CeCl 3 as a deoxidation accelerant. The synergistic effects of anode/cathode current densities, electrolysis temperature, and CeCl 3 concentration on the oxygen content and morphological evolution of Ti powder were systematically investigated. Results indicate that cathode current density exerts a non-monotonic regulatory effect on oxygen content, with an optimal window identified at 1.0 A/cm 2 . While increasing the temperature to 750 °C enhances deoxidation, further heating leads to undesirable grain coarsening. Critically, the addition of CeCl 3 significantly bolsters deoxidation efficiency by modulating the oxygen potential within the melt. Under the optimized parameters (4 wt% CeCl 3 , 750 °C, 0.4 A/cm 2 anode current density, and 1.0 A/cm 2 cathode current density), high-purity Ti powder with an oxygen content as low as 600 ppm was successfully fabricated. This work provides a robust theoretical and technical framework for the green, cost-effective production of high-end, low-oxygen titanium powders.

Spherical Ti-6Al-4V alloy powder is a critical feedstock for additive manufacturing, and there is an increasing demand for low-oxygen powders produced using sustainable methods. In this study, fine spherical Ti-6Al-4V powder with a particle size of 15–53 μm was deoxidized via calciothermic reduction, utilizing CaO as a dispersant to suppress powder sintering. The effects of deoxidation parameters on oxygen content and recovery yield were systematically investigated, and the deoxidation mechanism and dispersion behavior were elucidated. The results show that optimal CaO addition effectively prevents direct interparticle contact, thereby inhibiting agglomeration and sintering during deoxidation and significantly enhancing powder recovery yield. Under conditions of 1000°C, 2 h, m CaO/Ti-6Al-4V = 1, and m Ca/Ti-6Al-4V = 0.09, the deoxidized powder retained its spherical morphology without observable sintering, exhibiting an oxygen content of 780 ppm and a recovery yield of 92%. The key powder characteristics — flowability (31 s/50 g) and apparent density (2.37 g/cm 3 ) — closely match the typical values reported for commercial LPBF feedstocks.

T4, T11, T10, and T8 are the most favorable Ti substitution sites in S-1. • In MFI-type zeolites, hydroxyl nest defects preferentially form at the T10-T1, whereas tripodal(1I) defects are most favorable at the T11-T10. • Compared with tripodal(1I) defects, the formation of hydroxyl nest defects is more sensitive to Ti incorporation and easily formed. • In TS-1, hydroxyl nest defects show stronger Lewis and Brønsted acidity compared with tripodal(1I) defects. Although MFI-type zeolites have been extensively studied, the formation of framework defects and their preferential siting at different framework positions remain difficult to accurately predict, which largely hampers the realization of defect engineering and precise defect control. In this study, density functional theory was used to study the preferred Ti substitution sites in S-1 zeolite. The results showed that T4, T8, T10, and T11 were the most favorable sites for Ti incorporation, and cluster models centered on these four representative sites were constructed as the main research objects to further analyze the formation sites and spatial distributions of hydroxyl nests and tripodal(1I) defects. These findings revealed that hydroxyl nest defects are most stable at Ti-T10-T1 sites in TS-1, whereas tripodal (1I) defects preferentially form at Si-T11-T10 sites in S-1, indicating that framework positions strongly affected the preference of defect site. Moreover, Ti incorporation markedly lowers defect formation energies, indicating that TS-1 is intrinsically more prone to defect formation than S-1, although the most stable defect configurations remain unchanged. Hydroxyl nest defects were more sensitive to Ti substitution, while tripodal(1I) defects were relatively unaffected. Furthermore, the optimal formation sites and acidity of two representative framework defects (hydroxyl nests and tripodal(1I) defects) in both S-1 and TS-1 were analyzed, and demonstrated that hydroxyl nest configurations in TS-1 exhibited stronger Lewis and Brønsted acidity. This study deepens the understanding of preferential framework defect sites and Ti substitution effects in MFI-type zeolites, providing theoretical guidance for defect-engineered design. Schematic illustration of the preferential formation sites of hydroxyl nest and tripodal(1I) defects in S-1/TS-1 and their Lewis and Brønsted acidity in TS-1. A two-step electrochemical method was employed to fabricate iodine-containing TiO 2 nanotubes composite coatings on pure Ti, with the objectives of enhancing coating-substrate adhesion and antibacterial performance. TiO 2 nanotubes were synthesized via anodic oxidation followed by iodine electrodeposition in 0.2% povidone-iodine solutions without KI and with varying concentrations of KI, respectively. The samples were characterized via SEM, EDS, and XPS. The coating-substrate adhesion, antibacterial activity, and cytotoxicity were systematically evaluated. The results indicate that KI addition enhances the electrical conductivity of the electrolyte and thus accelerates iodine deposition, while excess I − leads to damage of nanotubular structure. The electrodeposited iodine species primarily exist in the forms of I 3 − , I 2 , and pentavalent iodine. The TiO 2 nanotubes retard the iodine release rate. With increasing KI concentration, the coating-substrate adhesion first increases and then decreases. The sample fabricated in the electrolyte with 0.05% KI achieves the maximum adhesion (28.7 ± 1.5 N). This optimal sample demonstrates antibacterial rates of 88.7% and 92.7% against E. coli and S. aureus , respectively while displaying negligible cytotoxicity. This two-step electrochemical approach for fabricating iodine-containing TiO 2 nanotubes composite coatings serves as a viable surface modification strategy for Ti implants, yielding antibacterial coatings with substantial clinical potential.

Ti/SnO 2 -Sb electrodes are widely used in electrocatalysis due to their high oxygen evolution potential (OEP) and low cost, but their practical application is limited by the short service life. In this study, Ti/SnO 2 -Sb electrodes were modified by introducing Ta 2 O 5 nanopowder through a thermal decomposition method to form SnO 2 -Ta 2 O 5 heterojunctions. The structural, morphological, and electrochemical properties of the electrodes with varying Ta 2 O 5 concentration were systematically investigated by XRD, XPS, FE-SEM, and electrochemical characterization techniques. Results show that Ta 2 O 5 incorporation induces lattice expansion, increases surface roughness, and improves the electrochemical active surface area by more than fourfold. The modified electrodes exhibit a significantly enhanced OEP of up to 2.20 V (vs. RHE), a threefold increase in double-layer capacitance, and a tenfold improvement (about 18 h) in accelerated service life under acidic conditions (100 mA/cm 2 ), compared to Ti/SnO 2 -Sb electrode. These findings demonstrate that Ta 2 O 5 doping effectively enhances catalytic activity, stability, and durability of Ti/SnO 2 -Sb electrodes, providing a promising strategy for the design of high-performance anodes for electrocatalytic applications.

The heterogeneous catalysis of HCl oxidation over Ru-based catalysts is a green and low-carbon chemistry route to recover high-purity Cl 2 from HCl byproduct for industrial practice. Herein, we report a facile fluorination strategy to fabricate durable supported Ru/Ti oxide catalysts for efficient HCl oxidation. The space–time yield by Ru/Ti-hf can reach up to 26.9 g Cl2 ·g cat −1 ·h −1 with an ultrahigh HCl TOF of 1.5 × 10 4 h −1 . After 24-h accelerated deactivation, this catalyst exhibits over 60% higher activity compared to the conventional Ru/Ti-r. This method allows for establishing highly dispersed and sintering-resistant RuO x species. The fluorine incorporation on TiO 2 surface generates abundant oxygen vacancies and Ru active sites, enhancing the activation capabilities for oxygen. Mechanistic calculations further suggest that the Cl-atom recombination step demanding the highest activation energy is facilitated with a lower energy barrier, due to the accumulation of electrons at the 4 d orbital of Ru sites and the transfer of electron to the antibonding orbital of Ru-Cl by moderate fluorine incorporation. These findings provide a nimble approach to fabricating efficient and durable catalysts promising for HCl oxidation in industry.

Driven by the global goal of carbon neutrality, solar-driven photocatalytic overall water splitting provides a critical pathway for directly converting light energy into storable green hydrogen. However, solar to hydrogen efficiency is often limited by the slow kinetics of charge carrier separation, migration, and surface reactions. Although MOF/inorganic semiconductor heterojunctions can promote carrier separation by establishing built-in electric fields, dense inorganic phases often block MOF pores and shield active sites, thereby compromising the structural advantages of MOFs. Herein, we propose a dual-ligand engineering strategy to regulate the electronic structure and piezo-photocatalytic behavior of titanium-based MOFs, achieving efficient piezo-photocatalytic overall water splitting. By co-coordinating terephthalic acid and 2-aminoterephthalic acid with titanium precursors, the as-synthesized material preserves the high specific surface area of MOFs while introducing amino-functionalized linkers into the framework. The incorporation of amino ligands breaks the centrosymmetry of the material and endows the dual-ligand MOF with piezoelectricity. Under the synergistic excitation of light and ultrasound, carrier recombination is significantly suppressed and charge transfer within the framework is accelerated, enabling efficient and stable overall water splitting without sacrificial agents. This study provides a feasible dual-ligand modulation strategy for improving MOF-based piezo-photocatalytic overall water splitting and elucidates the synergistic regulation mechanism of charge dynamics and surface reaction kinetics under multi-field coupling.

This study investigated the fabrication of a strengthened Ti-TiO 2 material with adding 0.5 wt.% TiO 2 nanoparticles via selective laser melting process in comparison with CP-Ti. Through the process parameters optimized by response surface methodology, the Ti-TiO 2 material fabricated by SLM showed remarkable tensile strength of 800.6 MPa and elongation of 14%, as compared to the fabricated CP-Ti with tensile strength of 594.0 MPa and elongation of 21%. The x-ray diffraction patterns of fabricated specimens showed the expansion of the hcp -Ti lattice along the c -axis due to dissolved oxygen atoms from the decomposition of TiO 2 nanoparticles. The microstructure analysis observed remains of incompletely decomposed TiO 2 and TiO phases in SLMed Ti-TiO 2 material, which was distinguished from former studies. Consequently, the decomposition behavior of added TiO 2 nanoparticles associated with the dissolved oxygen in the Ti-matrix during the SLM process was discussed. Based on the evaluation of both the solution effect of oxygen atoms and the reinforcing effect of undecomposed nanoparticles, the dissolved oxygen from decomposed TiO 2 was considered the primary factor in the intensified strength of SLMed Ti-TiO 2 material. These results could offer novel insights into the additive manufacturing of high-strength and biocompatible titanium alloy via the SLM process.
