Hydrochromic materials have received much attention in anticounterfeiting due to their reversible photoemission properties toward water. However, existing hydrochromic materials usually suffer from slow hydrochromic response and limited stability, repeatability, and color tunability. This paper found for the first time that CsPbBr 3 /Cs 4 PbBr 6 composites with quantum-limited domain effects had reversible hydrochromism. CsPbBr 3 /Cs 4 PbBr 6 composites were successfully synthesized in molecular sieve MCM-41 using an improved mechanochemical method. The composites underwent a reversible phase transition from Cs 4 PbBr 6 /CsPbBr 3 to CsPbBr 3 upon treatment with a trace amount of water, the photoluminescence colors underwent a change from blue to green, and reversion occurred due to heating. Mechanistic investigation revealed that quantum dots underwent soft agglomeration due to van der Waals forces in polar solvent environments, affecting the action of quantum domain-limiting effects. Therefore, organic solvents with different polarities can cause different degrees of reversible discoloration of the material. This study provides new ideas for understanding the phase transition and agglomeration of metal halide perovskite quantum dots in polar solvent environments. Additionally, it offered new options for aqueous color-changing materials and organic solvent polar detection materials.

CsPbX 3 (X = Cl, Br, I) perovskite nanowires and nanorods are important 1D and quasi 1D semiconductor nanomaterials. They have shown significant prospect in optic and optoelectronic applications, especially for their adaptability to flexible devices, good carrier transport performance, polarized absorption, and emission properties. Due to the high dependence of the property to the morphology, it is crucial to develop synthesis methods with continuous diameter and length tunability of the 1D/quasi 1D perovskites. In this report, a feasibly room temperature synthesis method was developed for ultrathin CsPbX 3 (X = Cl, Br, I) perovskite nanowires. By aging the CsPbBr 3 nanowires (≈2*500 nm) under ambient condition with proper concentration and time, the nanowires are transformed to nanorods with controllable diameter and length. Reversibly, the nanorods can be transformed back to nanowires. Equilibrium mechanism is adopted to understand the morphology evolution, and hopefully could be generally applied to many other nano materials. The polarized optoelectronic properties of the nanowires and nanorods are interpreted by a model based on the two-channel anisotropies measurement. Polarized light detectors constructed by oriented assembled nanowires are fabricated to demonstrate their application potentials.

Instabilities of all-inorganic perovskite nanocrystals (PeNCs) strictly limit their practical applications. Encapsulating PeNCs into metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) has been recognized as an effective approach to improving the lifetime of PeNCs. However, the effects of various encapsulation methods on the performance and stability of PeNCs@MOF composites remain ambiguous. Herein, all-inorganic CsPbBr3 NCs were encapsulated into a screened MOF, i.e., MIL-53 (Al), via one-step and two-step synthesis methods. Distinct morphologies and NC distribution in MOFs were investigated, which might be ascribed to different chemical environments and interactions between CsPbBr3 NCs and MOFs in the two methods. As a result, the two-step CsPbBr3@MOF composites demonstrated increased charge carrier lifetimes, suppressed non-radiative recombination loss, enhanced photoluminescence quantum yields, as well as increased hydrophobicity compared to pristine CsPbBr3 NCs and one-step samples. Moreover, the CsPbBr3@MOF-based white light emitting diode retained over 90% performance after a 12-hour operation under ambient conditions.

Heterojunction engineering significantly enhances photocatalytic CO 2 reduction performance. However, a large lattice mismatch in heterostructures hinders photocatalytic reaction by forming extensive grain boundaries, inefficient interfaces, and sluggish interfacial charge transfer. Metal halide perovskites, featuring soft lattices induced by weak ionic metal-halide bonds, offer effective solutions to alleviate such mismatches. Herein, we fabricate BaTiO 3 /CsPbBr 3 photocatalysts with a precisely engineered type-II heterojunction. Notably, the BaTiO 3 /CsPbBr 3 heterostructure achieves a CO formation rate of 17.3 μmol∙g −1 h −1 — 5.2-fold and 2.3-fold higher than pristine BaTiO 3 (3.3 μmol∙g −1 h −1 ) and CsPbBr 3 (7.6 μmol∙g −1 h −1 ), respectively. This improvement stems from the synergistic effect of enhanced light absorption and charge separation. This work provides fundamental insights for developing high-performance heterojunction photocatalysts.

Two-dimensional (2D) colloidal CsPbBr3nanosheets (NSs) possess size-dependent optoelectronic properties; however, conventional hot-injection methods often lack precise growth control and well-ordered superlattice self-assembly. Herein, we introduce a modified ligand-assisted hot-injection strategy that promotes direct precursor–ligand interactions prior to solvent mixing, thereby enabling highly controlled nanosheet superlattice growth. By adjusting the reaction temperature from 130 to 150 °C, we obtained rectangular nanosheets with monodisperse, well-defined thicknesses of 3.35 ± 0.05 nm and 4.05 ± 0.09 nm at 130 and 140 °C, respectively, both below the 7 nm exciton Bohr diameter, consistent with strong quantum confinement. The resulting superlattices exhibited sharp, tunable photoluminescence peaks at 462, 464, and 513 nm, with time-resolved PL revealing a clear size–lifetime correlation, where smaller lateral superlattices at 130 °C showed a short decay time of 8.65 ns, intermediate growth at 140 °C yielded 15.42 ns, and larger lateral superlattices at 150 °C reached 35.49 ns. Importantly, the modified synthesis facilitated the formation of ordered superlattices that preserved their intrinsic emission properties, underscoring their structural stability and scalability. These findings establish a direct link between ligand-mediated synthesis, reaction temperature, nanosheet dimensions, and optical performance, offering a pathway to high-quality perovskite NS superlattices for advanced optoelectronic applications such as light-emitting diodes and sensors.

All-inorganic perovskite quantum dots have been widely used in solar cells, LED, laser and scintillator in recent years. However, the essence of ion migration in perovskite lattice can cause the ion vacancies exist, which can directly affect the luminescence process. Herein, we focus on the effect of monovalent cation vacancies on the CsPbBr 3 lattice, and realize the adjusting lattice structure of the CsPbBr 3 QDs to change the luminescence lifetime by controlling the formation of monovalent cation vacancies. The results show that the existence of monovalent cation vacancies can be controlled by controlling dosages of Cs + precursor and can make the CsPbBr 3 lattice produce local lattice micro distortion and reduce luminescence lifetime, which is beneficial to realize the rapid and efficient X-ray imaging of scintillating crystals. Experimental result is also verified by density functional theory (DFT).

All-inorganic perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) are considered as new candidates for low-cost semiconductor luminescent materials. Plentiful efforts have been made to improve the efficiency of perovskite NCs and reveal the mechanism by ion doping with the same valence and different ionic radii. However, only a few selected metal ion dopants can efficiently enhance the luminescence performance of NCs, and some underlying mechanisms are not clear. Here, we employ the opposite strategy to show how to enhance the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of CsPbBr3 NCs via Sr2+ and La3+ with similar ionic radii and different valence states. With the optimization of doping conditions, the PLQY of divalent Sr2+ and trivalent La3+ doped CsPbBr3 NCs can increase to 87%, but the enhancement mechanisms are the reduction of bromine vacancy defects in the bulk and surface of CsPbBr3 NCs to increase radiative recombinations, respectively. Divalent Sr2+ doping can eliminate halide vacancies and decrease the formation of defect states and nonradiative recombinations. Based on this mechanism, in order to achieve charge balance, trivalent La3+ doping establishes Br-rich conditions due to the absorptive effect of Br, and forms CsPbBr3@Br− NCs as the core–shell-like structures, which induces self-passivation of surface defects, thereby increasing the radiative recombination on the surfaces. Density functional theory calculations confirm the experimental conclusions, showing that Sr2+/La3+ dopants enrich the conduction band edge states of CsPbBr3, resulting in enhanced photoluminescence. This work sheds light on the highly efficient luminescence of divalent and trivalent metal ion-doped halide perovskite NCs and their enhancement mechanisms, illustrating their potential applications in fluorescence anti-counterfeiting.

Perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) are promising luminescent materials for display applications owing to their exceptional optoelectronic characteristics. Nevertheless, their practical deployment is hindered by intrinsic high defect densities, which lead to insufficient photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) and accelerated material degradation. In this study, a one-pot strategy was proposed by using nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (NGQDs) as surface ligands. Coupled with a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) coating, the NGQDs facilitate the formation of a robust composite architecture. Under optimized NGQD incorporation, the fabricated CsPbBr 3 /NGQDs/PMMA composite films display an ultra-narrow green emission peaked at 522 nm, with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) as narrow as 16 nm. More importantly, the composite exhibits significantly enhanced stability, maintaining 70% of its initial PL intensity after 7 days of water immersion or 1 h of thermal treatment at 100 °C. Such improvements are ascribed to effective defect passivation by the NGQDs and the beneficial role of their nitrogen-rich sites in promoting perovskite crystallization. As a demonstration of their potential, white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) based on the composite realize a wide color gamut, covering 131% of the NTSC standard and 98% of the Rec. 2020 standard. This work thus proposes a novel one-pot in situ passivation approach, providing an effective route to concurrently address the efficiency and stability issues of PNCs.

Luminescent CsPbBr3 quantum dots (QDs) with adjustable size and bandgap were grown by controlling the synthesis temperature in this paper. As the synthesis temperature increases, the QD size becomes larger and then smaller. The corresponding absorption and steady-state photoluminescence spectrum indicate that the QD band gap becomes smaller and then larger, which is a typical quantum confinement effect . Time-resolved photoluminescence spectrum and femtosecond transient absorption spectrum (fs-TAS) show that the non-radiative recombination probability of photocarriers in small QDs is small it has few defects, indicating that the ligand molecules adsorbed on the surface of QDs effectively passivate the surface defects of CsPbBr3. Finally, the hot-phonon bottleneck effect of CsPbBr3 QDs is revealed by the kinetic curves fitting of fs-TAS and the cooling kinetic process of hot carriers is also discussed in detail. This work provides new insights on size-dependent photophysical properties of CsPbBr 3 QDs.

All-inorganic CsPbBr 3 perovskite quantum dots (QDs) are considered as a new generation of photoelectric material for the implementations in photodetection owing to their remarkable optoelectronic properties and optimized stability. However, the combination of the abundant trap states and unfavorable carrier transportation poses a critical hurdle for the fabrication of high- performance photodetectors. In this study, a facile strategy to significantly enhance the performance of CsPbBr 3 QD photodetectors via evenly blending 2D Ti 3 C 2 T X nanosheets is systematically demonstrated. The uniformly distributed Ti 3 C 2 T X nanosheets successfully confine incident fugacious photons throughout CsPbBr 3 QD thin films as a result of the spontaneously intensified surface electromagnetic fields, and the transportation of photogenerated carriers from CsPbBr 3 QDs are simultaneously accelerated due to the high conductivity and well-matched work function of the nanosheets. Meanwhile, the hot electrons excited from the nanosheets can also partially contribute to the increase in photocurrent, and thereby the performance of the device sensitively develops as a function of the concentration of the nanosheets. Correspondingly, a 300% enhancement is equally observed with external quantum efficiency and responsivity of the CsPbBr 3 QD/MXene nanosheet photodetectors in comparison with the pristine one under 490 nm light illumination for a long period of 4 months in the atmospheric environment.

Inverted perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) based on quantum dots (QDs) are some of the most promising candidates for next-generation lighting and display applications. Due to the strong fluorescence quenching caused by zinc oxide, high performance in such inverted devices remains challenging. Here, we report an efficient inverted green CsPbBr3 QDs LED using an emitting buffer layer. Ultrathin CsPbBr3 QD emitters act as the buffer layer to reduce the interface luminescence quenching reaction at the ZnO/upper emitting layer interface, increasing the probability of exciton recombination within the emissive layer and regulating the charge transport, leading to effective carrier recombination. The resulting device exhibits an external quantum efficiency of 13.1%, enhanced by about 4.7 times compared with that without a buffer layer device. This work provides a path to fabricating high-performance inverted PeLEDs.

All-inorganic cesium lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (IPNCs) exhibit exceptional optical properties but the low chemical and structural stability has restricted their long-term applications. According to previous studies, hybridization of IPNCs with other matrix materials provides an efficient method for improving their optical stability. Here, we develop a new strategy to synthesize a chemically and structurally stable CsPbBr 3 perovskite material using polymer nanofiber as the protective layer. It is found that CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals grow spontaneously inside the polymer nanofiber. Furthermore, the crystal structure and grain size remain substantially unchanged for two months due to the presence of the polymer layer, resulting in a decrease in luminescence quenching. We expect that the results obtained in this work could open new possibilities for the design and development of air-stable CsPbBr 3 by hybridization with polymer nanofibers. Graphical The hybridization of CsPbBr 3 with polymer nanfibers provides an efficient method for improving their optical stability. CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals can grow spontaneously inside the polymer nanofibers, and the crystal structure and grain size remain substantially unchanged within two months of fabrication due to the presence of polymer nanofiber layers.
