Efficient extractions of trace antibiotic residues in the environment are a key factor for accurate quantification of the residues. A new nanoporous material, namely, magnetically covalent organic polymer (MCOP, Fe3O4@SiO2-NH2-COP) was synthesized in this work and was used for magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE). The combination of MSPE with high-performance liquid chromatography separation together with ultraviolet detection (HPLC-UV) was established as an effective method for the determination of four sulfonamide (SA) residues in surface water surrounding a cattle farm. The synthesized magnetic material was characterized by SEM, TEM, FT-IR, magnetic properties measurement system (MPMS), and nitrogen gas porosimetry. The material possessed many attractive features, such as a unique microporous structure, a larger specific surface area (137.93 m2·g−1) than bare Fe3O4 (24.84 m2·g−1), high saturation magnetization (50.5 emu·g−1), open adsorption sites, and high stability. The influencing parameters, including pH, the used amount of MCOPs, the type of eluent, adsorption solution, and desorption time, were optimized. Under the optimized conditions, the method conferred good linearity ranges (R2 ≥ 0.9990), low detection limits (S/N = 3, LOD, 0.10–0.25 μg·L−1), and satisfactory recoveries (79.7% to 92.2%). The enrichment factor (EF) for the four SAs was 34.13–38.86. The relative standard deviations of intraday (n = 5) and of interday (n = 3) were less than 4.8% and 8.9%, respectively. The equilibria between extraction and desorption for SAs could be reached within 150 s. The proposed method was sensitive and convenient for detecting SA residues in complex environmental matrices, and the successful application of the new MCOPs as an adsorbent was demonstrated.

Flexible thermoelectric devices (f-TEDs) can realize direct energy conversion between heat and electricity, which hold great prospects in wearable power source and personal thermal management. However, conventional f-TEDs made from intrinsically flexible thermoelectric materials have low power density, and elastomer sealed bulk thermoelectric materials-based f-TEDs can hardly achieve active cooling. Additionally, these f-TEDs usually are not self-healable and recyclable, which easily occur fractures in wearable applications. Here, we developed a self-healable and recyclable f-TED by integrating dynamic covalent thermoset polyimine with liquid metal and thermoelectric legs. This f-TED achieves a normalized power density of 1.54 μW·cm −2 ·K −2 , and can deliver a record 13.8 °C on-body cooling effect with a high coefficient of performance (COP) at 3.91 under 7 °C temperature difference, which leads to a low power consumption of ∼ 38 W for the cooling of regular human body. Based on the f-TED, we further developed a personal thermal management system, which can keep body within comfort zone at different surrounding temperatures, also realize healthcare function for fever or sprained ankle. Compared with conventional thermoelectric devices, this f-TED can simultaneously achieve self-healability, recyclability, flexibility, large normalized power density, and high on-body cooling effect with low power consumption. Such f-TED could open up new opportunities to develop devices for wearable energy harvesting and personal thermal management.

Hydrogen evolution catalysts with effectively integrated structures at different length scales are promising to remarkably boost the efficiency of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), but their fabrication presents great challenges. A 3-D structure of graphene oxide (GO) conformally coated with 2,2′-biquinoline-4,4′-dicarboxylate (BQ)-Co2+ complexes is synthesized via polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-mediated in situ self-assembly, in which PVP promotes attachment of BQ and Co2+ and prevents the restacking of nanosheets, while formation of amorphous BQ-Co2+ complexes allows their uniform growth. This structure is subsequently converted to 3-D graphene supported CoP NP-embedded N-doped carbon via calcination and low-temperature phosphidation and applied as a catalyst toward the HER. The onset overpotential, overpotenitial at 10 mA cm–2, Tafel slope, and exchange current density of this catalyst are 6.3 mV, 78.0 mV, 45.7 mV dec–1, and 0.3126 mA cm–2 (0.5 M H2SO4), respectively, all of which compare favorably to those of most reported non-noble-metal-based catalysts, and the catalyst displays superior durability with a slight current increase after 23 h of chronoamperometric measurement or little current loss after 2000 CV cycles. This work develops a strategy to fabricate high-performance and low-cost HER catalysts and deepens the understanding of the mechanism of the polymer-mediated in situ self-assembly of amorphous metal–organic complexes.

Herein, nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) encapsulated CoP hollow spheres are designed and prepared through a sodium L-aspartate assisted carbonization-oxidation-phosphorization route. Experimental and theoretical analysis unveil that the encapsulating of NC results in improved electric conductivity and enhanced electrolyte wettability. Particularly, an interfacial charge redistribution induces the establishment of local electric field at the CoP/NC interface, which leads to a decrease in surface OH – adsorption energies, an enhancement in charge transfer efficiency between OH – and active materials, and a reduction in OH – diffusion energy barriers. Thus, the CoP@NC electrode materials demonstrate enhanced capacity values (998C g −1 at 2 A g −1 and 640C g −1 at 20 A g −1 ) and cyclic stability (a capacity retention of 92.7 % after 5000 cycles). Moreover, three-dimensional macroporous N-doped carbon foams (MNCFs) are prepared through a facile and eco-friendly strategy using sodium L-aspartate as N-containing carbon source. Such MNCFs possess large surface area, enhanced electrical conductivity, and high-efficiency mass and ion transport, thus achieving specific capacitances of up to 426F g −1 at 1 A g −1 and 325F g −1 at 10 A g −1 . Furthermore, the fabricated CoP@NC||MNCFs hybrid supercapacitor device delivers an energy density of up to 75.1 Wh kg −1 at 800 W kg −1 , and demonstrates a capacity retention of 93.8 % after 5000 cycles. Our work not only provides valuable insights but also opens new avenues for designing and constructing advanced electrode materials for high-efficiency energy storage applications.
